I made the mistake of trusting Steven Herrera to assist my daughter with the purchase of her first vehicle--a used Land Rover. That trust was completely misplaced. The vehicle was grossly misrepresented, poorly serviced, and priced more than $2,000 above its actual value, under the false impression that we were receiving a fair deal. Since the purchase, the car has been plagued with ongoing mechanical issues, compounded by substandard workmanship and a continuous stream of excuses and false statements. Taking advantage of an 18-year-old purchasing her first car is indefensible. This level of dishonesty and disregard for basic ethical standards is unacceptable in any business, especially one dealing with customers who rely on professional integrity. I had some bad experiences with two different shops local to me, so I looked a little further afield for a new shop. I took my Yukon the Rusty's about a 35 minute drive from my home and explained the situations and symptoms. They took my car into their shop and in about 15 minutes came back, said the problem was fixed. It was a simple "reset" of the positions on the blend doors accomplished with a scan tool. I tried to settle up, and was told there was no charge. Very happy with Rusty's and I will come back if I need anything and I will also refer anyone else I know to them.

They charged me $315 for a diagnosis and told me the steel fuel tank had rusted through and was leaking fuel into the cargo area. They recommended replacing the fuel tank, hoses and lines, fuel filter, and sending unit at an estimated cost of approximately $7,000. I was skeptical because the fuel pump had recently been replaced, so I took the car to another garage for a second opinion. They found that the leak was coming from the fuel-tank sending-unit gasket...a $10 part. They replaced the gasket, and the leak stopped. They also determined that the fuel tank was not rusted out and the fuel pump was fine. I returned to Rusty's and requested a refund of the $315 diagnostic charge because their diagnosis was incorrect and could have led me to spend thousands of dollars on unnecessary repairs. They refused. I have taken other vehicles to Rusty's in the past. Their customer service has always been very good, but I have previously questioned some of the work they recommended and the prices they charged. After this experience, I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before approving any major repair here.

Over 10 years later, the clear coat came off in some areas and the paint started peeling pretty bad. Fortunately I kept all my paperwork because they were quick to ask for it when I made the call back. I had to go in so they could inspect it. Being near Katy now, this wasn't a leisurely drive over. Long story short, they repainted only where the clear coat failed and not everything they originally fixed. So it looks like I have a brand new hood and fenders but the front bumper looks like its 10 years old. Not entirely happy but I don't have time to complain as the truck was sold. They did match the paint pretty well but I did find some tiny flaws in the paint. Overall I think the work was acceptable minus the half-ass warranty coverage. Keep your paperwork.

I had my check…read moreengine light pop on, stopped by Auto Zone to have it scanned and it told me the issue was my VVT Solenoid. This was for a 2016 Santa Fe Limited. I called Hyundai, 3 week wait just to get an analysis, a couple other places gave me 5-7 days before they could analyze it and told me it would be north of $400 to fix (minimum). Then I talked to Tyler at Christian Brothers. He was willing to set up a time to check out the SUV but he also asked me a couple questions. He told me the Hyundai was known to be an internal oil burner and asked when I had my last oil change. Ironically, it was a little overdue but no warnings or anything. He said if it was a little low it could set off that solenoid issue and he advised me to get a good oil change, drive the vehicle a couple of days and see if it resets itself. If not, they would be happy to look at it. Guess what? He was 100% accurate. I changed the oil, the check engine light went off. I even had the vehicle scanned again to check and there was no code error. Imagine that, a company giving sound advice to help you and not keeping their knowledge for profit. Thanks Tyler for being inquisitive, helpful and saving me an expense that would have been unnecessary. That customer care alone made me a loyal customer.
