Took my vehicle here about 1 1/2 months ago for an oil change and tire rotation. About 3 weeks ago I went out to my vehicle to go somewhere. As I stepped into my garage I noticed a big dark mess underneath my vehicle. All of the oil had leaked out! A friend crawled underneath with a flashlight and said he could tell just by looking that the oil filter wasn't close to being on correctly. This was a Saturday so I had to wait until Monday to call. I spoke to Lee the manager and he sent someone down to do another oil change in my garage. The time before this they changed my oil and I noticed the next day that some oil had leaked out. I took it back and Lee the manager said some oil spilled onto the frame when filling it. Hmmm, maybe or maybe not. I wasn't back there with them to see for myself. Been using Phil's for a while, but this is the last time. Went in for what looked like a very slow leak in the radiator and they said it was cracked. Replaced it, got home and still a slow leak. Turns out it was the washer fluid reservoir that needed a grommet replaced. Huge difference, obviously. Not sure how something like that is missed by certified mechanics. Hmm. Just remember, we all get what we pay for. The 10% cash discount is just a carrot IMO. read more

Great service again. I foolishly went to McKay's Auto because they were having a deal on their oil change. They told me I needed a new belt and my back brakes cleaned. I felt sketchy about it so I called up Phil to see if I could bring my car in for a second opinion and possible estimate. Phil took a look at my car and confirmed the things McKay's said but at a price HALF of what I was told at McKay's. They took my car in right away and a few hours later it was ready to go. They also noticed that McKay's didn't tighten my oil plug and it was leaking oil. Never making the mistake of going elsewhere again! read more

Took my car in to get one of the belt's on my wife's car checked out and they tightened it up without a problem. Ended up getting my brakes and rotors fixed the same day at a very reasonable price. As a woman who is tired of being played with ridiculous fees, I'd recommend Phil's Auto to anyone in the Mo-Co area. Everyone is friendly and professional. They don't even need to advertise because if you visit, you will want to refer them (not to mention they offer a 10% discount on if you refer someone or even if you choose to pay with cash or check.) The initial reason for me to visit them was to see why my check engine light was on. My car had 99 problems, so the light came on again and the best part is they didn't charge me for additional labor or anything. These are good people. Phil did a great job on two visits with different cars. He was honest with the repairs needed, and the estimated time to complete the work. They gave me a ride to work after i dropped my car off. Costs: Offers a cash/check discount. All prices were very reasonable and priced fairly. On one vehicle, we needed brakes replaced, and their prices were competitive (lowest, but not alarmingly 'cheap'). One car's A/C was not cooling, and it was only a $15 relay that needed to be replaced. A strut needed to be replaced, and their part costs and labor costs were accurate and reasonable. The woman in line ahead of me had some repairs done to her car, and they replaced her oil free of charge as they saw it was way overdue. That was a nice gesture. My wife took the car in once, and they also treated her with respect and honesty. I've lived in the area for 25 years, and have taken my car to several mechanics in the area. I wish I took my cars to Phil's sooner. Millstead was my go-to place, but their costs are very high, and commonly 'overly-diagnose' the car - which takes time and money. I'll stick with Phil's going forward. He keeps it simple, honest, and fair. read more

Code Reader showed faulty crankshaft sensor. i purchased the part (made by Siemens) and came to them. They said they can not guarantee the fix and i told them to install the sensor and see. They agreed to install it but stated there would be no waranty for this kind of installation service which seem to be fair enough for me. the service took 1 day. After the service on the way home, nothing changed vehicle still had same problem. I had to eventually take the vehicle to the dealer shop. The dealer replaced the sensor and the faulty code went away. INTERESTING PART IS The dealer took the sensor off from the vehicle and found it is a long time used Sensor made by Continental. where is the Siemens one i provided??? I called Phli and would like to confirm wherther they had installed the exact Siemens part i provided. then he seemd to be pissed and became very rude over the phone, started yelling " this is my business, i don't care what you say, go compliant to Prisident of United States" then hang up my phone 3 times. It appeared to me he had a lot of preasure when i came back to him . he kept yelling over the phone and hang up which made us difficult to really sort out the issue. and certainlly there was no installation processe details provided form him to clarify the fact. I felt really dispointed with the experience i have with Phli Auto. i cannot imgaine people would really conduct their business with such rude attitude and brutal approach. My recommdation is: if you insist to go to this auto shop, please ask them to keep all the original part that were replaced. or you may be yelled and your future call my be hang up. I will try to file a complain on BBB and see if they can do anything but most likely Mr. Phil would not care. I wish Mr.Phil is really happy about what he did. read more

I've left a couple reviews here on Phil's but they keep disappearing. I'm an ex-General Moters tech and used Phil for years and always left happy. Phil sold the company a couple years ago and thing went down hill quick ( notice the numerous great reviews in 2016 but few since then.) I did give the new owner the benefit of the doubt and continued using this shop for about a year, but finally had to give up on them. They charged for double work on two occasions totalling hundreds and they always tried to upsell me. The last straw was when they refused to warranty an a/c compressor because they said it was installed improperly, but they are the ones who did the install!! They refused to replace it. They said their parts source wouldn't refund them so they couldn't eat the cost. I've been blessed and can afford the best for my 4 vehicles, but I refuse to take my vehicles to someone I no longer trust. Just want to save others the heartache. read more

My experience with Phil's has been nothing but exceptional since 2005. I relocated to Austin for 6 1/2 years and have returned with my 2004 Ford Focus again & again since moving back to Spring/Houston area. They're definitely cheaper than most other places (Christian Bros quoted me $1600 to repair whatever was causing my car to Overheat....Phil quoted me $800). The problem is, after bringing the car back an additional 2 or 3 more times, I ended up spending about $1300....and the car STILL overheats. I finally just sold the car. My advice is go with someone who has good credibility online. Do your research. It may cost more, but at least the job will get done. read more

Moved to The Woodlands area from Clear Lake and have been hesitant to take my Jeep in to a new mechanic. It's my only vehicle and I find all too often the shops that recommend needless services and repairs. I read through countless reviews on multiple sites and went into Phil's when my Jeep started making strange noises. It was towards the end of the day and I hadn't called first to make an appointment but the team at Phil's couldn't have been any better! So professional and helpful! They dropped me off at home so I didn't have to wait at the shop, diagnosed it quickly and came back to pick me up once the repairs were complete. They had it turned around quickly which I appreciate since it's my only ride and they didn't bombard me with a bunch of add on services that were not warranted. always have to bring my car back because the problem keeps reoccurring. also i was told "well if you replace this and it still doesnt work then the car wasnt fixed" not something that a customer who just paid 400 dollars wants to hear..... and of course that wasnt the problem. i actually said at once point I wanted my labor expenses back but of course they wont give it back. ( not like i thought they would) bottom line they may be cheaper then most shops but you get what you pay for or you may not get anything at all. they have no proof of what thet did i just go based on their word abd a typed up receipt....when they once again wanted me to bring my car back and they "didnt want to play phone games " mean while i was there the day after they said my car was "fixed" and wasnt TWICE! in conclusion yes go get a oil change from these guys...dont expect them to figure out something a little more advanced then what an average mechanic should know read more
