Came back to the Lighthouse for dinner and ordered the Brussels mac & cheese and the Wagyu burger. The Brussels and mac & cheese were excellent -- rich, flavorful, and definitely worth it. Unfortunately, the burger was mediocre at best. It didn't come close to competing with Bugaboos down the road, which also serves Wagyu burgers but executes them far better. Really disappointing considering the expectation. That said, the view is still fantastic and remains the highlight of the experience.

I have now had the pleasure of Dino g here several times and I can say with confidence that this is such an amazing find in NWI. The views, the menu options and the fine dining feel without that fine dining process tag is amazing. Each time my service has been fantastic with helpful and pleasant servers and the drinks are always done well, I can never have just one! Making a reservation is simple and parking is plenty. My favorite menu item remains the crab cakes but I've also had the fish tacos.

The special today was a great sunset view and grilled bone-in pork chops with baked apples, absolutely delicious! Tiffany was attentive and fantastic!

I just had the best time here last night and Stephanie, our server, made my catch-up time with a friend, so much fun and enjoyable! When I had initially arrived, she saw that I was looking for my friend, and so sweetly showed me the way. Our table overlooked the water and we were able to see an amazing sunset all while having loads of deliciousness! I had the pork chop with almond rice and sautéed mushrooms and spinach as my included sides, which was amazing and wish I would've taken a photo of it, but the portion was large enough for me to take home and make another meal of it. A huge shout out to Stephanie, who had my friend and I laughing throughout our meal time there and her energy level was endless! She's definitely someone I would recommend requesting to have as we are looking to do that the next time we go!!

A Hidden Gem with Exceptional Service! Just had one of the best dining experiences at Lighthouse! From the moment we arrived, everything was spot-on--warm greeting, cozy ambiance, and incredibly fresh, flavorful food. Every dish we ordered was beautifully prepared and full of taste. You can tell the kitchen takes real pride in their quality and presentation. But the absolute highlight of the evening was our server, Kelsea. She was AMAZING. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared that we had a great experience. She checked in at just the right times, knew the menu inside and out, and made us feel like VIPs the entire time. Honestly, her level of service is rare and deserves major recognition! If you're looking for a place where food and service are equally impressive, Lighthouse is the spot. And if Kelsea's working--lucky you. We'll definitely be back!

It's definitely not the same since it changed ownership. I ordered Thanksgiving Take and Bake. I called specifically to make sure the turkey was a "real turkey". I was assured that it was a half of turkey. It was a loaf and was not edible. It's in the garbage now. We have lived 2 blocks from Tobes (Lighthouse) for over 20 years. Needless to say we have had countless meals there. I am very disappointed.

Lauren was super timely in her communications, professionalism and sharing all details in advance. Given the timing she was one step ahead of me the entire way. We opted for breakfast and my family really enjoyed it! We didn't realize there was a breakfast option until inquiring and it was great. The captains room was perfect for this event and Michelle our server was fantastic even with a decent amount of guests in the main dining room.

Ask the Community - Lighthouse Restaurant

Is The Lighthouse still serving Brunch on Sundays?

No. Lighthouse now opens at 11am on Sundays and features a couple of lunch menu items that are not on the regular dinner menu.

Does anyone know who the GM of the business is?

    Shane Keeton.

Has anyone ever heard of gratuity being charged on an upgraded chair for an event? I'm actually speaking of a venue that does weddings?

Yes. Second City charges a premium price for "RAIL SEATS" which have an un-obstructed view of the show. Not unusual at all.

I've been wanting to stop in this place in the old village of Brunswick for some time. Yelp…read morereports this as closed, but it's open and the hours on this page are accurate. I finally made it here last night. Brunswick is an old German settlement that was founded in the mid 1800's. It's about two miles west of Cedar Lake/US 41, along 133rd/135th Avenue. The tavern sits at the southeast corner of 135th and Calumet Avenue. You can tell that the building is very old, but kept in very nice condition. We arrived around 6:30 PM, came in through the back door and settled up to the old bar. The owners were watching TV at the bar, waiting to serve those who came in. The menu is very simple: a good selection of domestic bottles (Miller, Bud, Coors, etc.) and a few imports (Grolsch, Warsteiner). The owners were very nice and we talked about the history of the tavern and Brunswick. According to the owner, this has been a continually-operated tavern since 1856, when it served as a stop for stagecoach travel. The tavern was very clean and had a lot of neat, old swag including a vintage Old Style light fixture. Beers were reasonably priced. It doesn't appear they serve anything but bottled/canned beer and lemonade, but definitely worth the stop for a cold beer. I'll be back next time I'm in the area!

The service has been a bit of a mixed bag both times. While the staff is friendly, the check ins themselves are okay. This time around, the food was much better. I really enjoyed the burger I ordered, and our appetizer was great too. They also have a fantastic outdoor patio that is easily one of the best parts of the experience. My main hesitation is the price point. It feels pretty pricey for what is essentially bar and grill food. Our bill came out to over $100 for just one appetizer, two beers, one kids' meal, and two sandwiches. For that price, I'm not entirely sure it's worth it for me to come back for a full dinner a third time. That said, I would absolutely come back just to hang out on the patio for an appetizer and a beer, or hit it up if I'm using the water equipment rental next door!

Also I've only been here once but we'll be going back. We started off with a mixed drink for the lady which she had two and thought they were incredible. And I had an IPA from one of the craft brewers they have - lots of good choices here. We started off with an appetizer of the fried filet Mignon. We had mixed reviews but I would skip it - over priced and the breading was too heavy (wish they'd put the steak on a skewer with Greek seasoning) As for the entrees I was highly impressed with the "industrial" sandwich. The steak on it was almost like Philly steak and flavored great and the toppings and condiments worked really well with it - the fries were fries - they worked. We also had the margarita pizza and it was flavorful - the touches of pestos made it speak! Anyways - great spot so far!
