Was there a several times. I know not to order steak. The chef is afraid of med-rare. Twice it was overcooked. The sea food is great. For the most part the service is good but the last time it took 6 of us over 21/2 hours to finish with are meal. We had to flag someone down for silverware and apporizer plates. Made a reservation for graduation party. Was told we would get a room for the party. Upon arrival the manager informs us that there is a party at 4, we have reservations for 2, and that we cannot have the room because they're decorating for the party at 4. So the solution is that we separate our party into two table, apparently they couldn't find anywhere to push to tables together, and conduct our party in the middle of the restaurant. Just attended a bridal shower at the Lighthouse Restaurant today from 11:00 to 1:30. We were served a delicious salad, plus a chicken breast with rice and veggies luncheon plate. They have good food and a beautiful view. I wouldn't reccomend having a wedding here unless you have some major money to spend. I was quoted 2300$ for 100 people. I didn't get anything fancy. I ended up spending over 5000$ because of "extra charges" that came up on the day of. I was very disappointed. For that price I could've chosen a different venue. They also failed to tell me they needed to know which guests ordered wich plate. I had 3 different meal choices and at no point in time did they ever tell me I needed to keep track. This was so annoying. Not to mention the eye rolling and attitude I got when I said I had no idea who ordered what. All I have to say is they have good food and it's a nice place for dinner. Our first time at the famous Lighthouse restaurant which came highly recommended by many. First impression is seeing this beautiful building along Cedar Lake and a packed parking lot which tells me this place is special. We were sat at our reserved table almost immediately which had a beautiful window view of the lake. Our server Grant greeted us quickly and took our drink order. Drinks arrived in a timely manner and were made perfectly. My friends loved the Lobster Bisque soup and I enjoyed my French Onion soup though the thick layer of Mozzarella cheese was a challenge to chew through and I might worry about some accidentally swallowing and choking on too big a bite. My wife loved the Lake Perch, her friend loved her Shrimp Alfredo and me and my buddy each ordered the 20 ounce Ribeye. All the steaks are from Meats by Linz who supply many of the best restaurants in Chicago and around the country. I ordered mine medium with the optional Parmesan crust and Mushrooms. It was cooked perfectly and was very delicious. My friend loved his as well. Honestly, I think we both wished that there was more as we both ready to pick up the bones to nibble the remaining meat. As an Illinois resident it was a pleasant surprise to see wearing a "Prevent the Spread" control mask wasn't required. Grant did a good job but I recommend that the bus boys/girls are more available to clear the empty dishes. The Manager checked in on us which is always appreciated and I observed that he is connecting with all the customers while also watching over his staff. For as busy as it was for such a large restaurant there was no chaos amongst the servers or bartenders. A well oiled machine. I only had two negatives and that would be the "Lumpy" Garlic mashed potatoes and the lack of some form of Deodorant matts or something to prevent the Men's urinals from being so harsh. I had to put my shirt over my nose the urine smell was so bad. Details are important. So I'd say I highly recommend The Lighthouse Restaurant and you will absolutely enjoy the beautiful views at sunset. Definitely a great place for a family reunion dinner or a special occasion. If you love a nice drive in the Country to one of Indiana's staples do it. I will definitely be coming back. My party of 5 arrived at 5:00 pm on a Saturday without reservations and were immediately seated. Restaurant did fill up quickly. Sat in bar area. Service was so-so. I don't think you should ever have an empty glass, which happened on more than one occasion. Food was good, not fabulous with the exception of the filet, but did seem to take a long time to come out. By the time we left 90 minutes later there was standing room only. This was not our first visit and we would probably go back. The restaurant has beautiful views of Cedar Lake so it's obviously more scenic in warmer weather. read more

I've been here three times since I moved to NWI. Every time the experience has been the same: great food, great service, great ambiance. I particularly like it because it's very nice, yet not pretentious. I've never seen what other reviewers described as pajamas/dressed like thugs" but have to agree this would detract from the general atmosphere. In short, this place has been very consistent and always leaves us happy. The place can get crowded so make sure you get a reservation if going during peak hours. So I'm sitting in the parking lot of the lighthouse in cedar lake actually trying to warm up and it's July 3rd. So the temperature outside right now is in the low 70s and I do believe the air conditioning in the restaurant had to be set as if it was in the upper 90s. I asked at least four times if it could be adjusted. Each time I was told they would take care of it. The last time it was actually a manager who came by to ask how things were and she said no problem, I'll turn the air off. Never happened. Now I don't know about you but I am spending my hard earned money in your establishment helping to pay your bills and I can't even be comfortable doing so. This is the place that helped put Cedar Lake back on the map. Thank you to Dean White and his group for being visionaries and seeing this community in a way that some of us long to see it. People are coming back to Cedar Lake from all around to enjoy the restaurant's ambience and beautiful view of our natural resource. My husband and I enjoyed an evening under the gazebo. The weather was near perfect and the view of the sun setting was stunning. Our service was good as it usually is; however I wasn't sure if my request for a table was taken at the entrance so I stood in the foyer waiting a few moments for a response. We chose to sit outside so that got us a seat faster since we did not have a reservation. We went outside to the patio and were seated immediately. Some cool torches added a cozy feel to the night. The patio is nicely landscaped and makes you feel welcome. We started with the bruschetta, which did not disappoint. Fresh selection of tomatoes with basil and garlic. The salads came at the same time, and minutes later so did the main entrée. Definitely not the best timing as we waited a bit before the drinks and appetizer started coming to the table. My husband ordered the filet and garlic mashed potatoes. He commented about the somewhat charred appearance on the filet as he ordered in medium. Our cocktails were fine and generally everything was good. The few little mishaps took a star off, otherwise it would have been five. I do recommend a little more adventure with the menu and I see they are doing that now. Not everyone wants steak, ribs or lake perch. Past experiences have been favorable regarding the service and the items ordered from the menu. Whether you stop by for a drink, an appetizer or a full meal, this venue is definitely a contender for fine fining establishments in the region. I have been there several times. Nice location. Nice bar. However the steaks are disappointing. Since they are only choice rated, it is a steak that anyone can buy at Jewel. So it isn't special. And they don't do a good job of grilling it. They can't compare to the good steak houses in Chicago. Even Freddies in Hammond serves better steaks. I've complained to management with no avail. However their Walleye and Sea Bass are excellent. Stay away for from the Salmon (dry) and the Lake Perch which are poor compared to Tiebels. read more

I am giving this place a 1 star rating because you can't give a zero star rating. This review is solely based on their customer service. I had an appointment to view the banquet hall. We were waiting and waiting and waiting, but after waiting 30 minutes I walked out. If this is how they treat potential customers, then I guess I will never eat here. I went there with my boyfriend on a Friday night. Knowing how crowded it can get there, we tried to see if they had an reservations or if we could do a call ahead. They did have resers available like after 8, no call aheads, but at the time it was only a 20min wait. So we decided to try our luck and see how the wait was when we got there. It was about 30-40 min wait, so we went up to the bar. Service at the bar was fairly quick. They have their house wine-Crane Lake. We ended up ordering a bottle of cabarnet and it was very good and VERY reasonably priced. They were accurate with their estimate of the wait time..sat down in abotu 30 min. The decor is nice. As mentioned it is a nautical theme, but it is very warm and homey inside. Lots of nice wood/ nautical touches. Of course there is a nice view of Cedar lake for warmer weather. There are definitely alot of complaints on here about the service. I had heard the same thing previously...they must have changed some things because the service was great. She greeted us fairly quickly, always made sure we had our drinks/ everything we needed. My one complaint was it kinda seemed like she was trying to rush us along, like maybe she wanted to get her tables turned quickly. It was pretty good otherwise. The food was very good. We both ordered steak, a filet and a sirloin. Very good, although my filet may have been a bit overcooked for medium. Garlic mashed potatoes were AMAZING!! We also had crab stuffed shrimp for an app. Very good! The crab had a nice kick and spice to it...Overall the food was very good. They have a pretty good menu although since we sat out in the outdoor seating area, we were given a different menu than inside because they cook it in the detached kitchen located outdoors. I ordered the ribeye and was a little disappointed. If you're not going to season the steak, I'm expecting a tasty piece of meat. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Maybe it was just a fluke because everyone else in my party enjoyed their meals. I will be going back and sitting inside this time to enjoy the full menu. Omg! The worst food ever! They must be using old food from their freezer from the covid closed months! How can you charge $42 for a steak yet not hire a chef who can cook it? Medium means pink center, my steak had no juices coming from it, and the meat was brown. It had a gritty texture and no flavor. The mushrooms even lacked flavor like they were pre cooked, frozen then quickly warmed up-microwave? The other 3 in our party ordered filets-all medium. They were all very rare, cold purple center. They were sent back to be cooked more. The customer service was great and they had way too many waiters, food runners. I did notice a parade of staff returning plates, along with ours back to the kitchen. My friend's husband ordered perch, it was greasy and looked like gnocchi. How did a kitchen manager ever let it leave the kitchen I'll never know! Then my husband's bone in ribeye-he ordered it medium rare. The poor steak was dry and well done. It smelled rancid. It looked worse. We order calamari too...small remnant pieces drenched in grease. I could not wait to leave. I knew I wasn't going to get a steak like Gibson's or Chicago Cut but I thought it would be decent like Gino's steakhouse or Theo's. The Lighthouse should be ashamed of themselves. They should close. Hire a chef and decent kitchen staff. And, throw out all the old food in the freezer and ditch the microwave! read more

This is one of those places where despite any recommendations from anyone else,negative or otherwise,will still continue to thrive. The location is the reason for that. Now,on to my irrelevant review. Like I said the location is awesome,right on the lake(yeah it's Cedar Lake but it's on the side without the confederate flags). We ordered a couple house margaritas to start and they came in regular glasses instead of the traditional margarita glass ?? but they were still good. Then we had the fried onion appetizer and it was delicious. I ordered the 14oz and my gf had chicken Parmesan. My steak was a little on the bland side and a bit undercooked from the medium I ordered but I still ate it all. She liked her dish though. We then ordered a couple Candy apple martinis which were awesome. All in all, lots of food ,pretty good drinks,and our waitress was super friendly and fast. It's just the price that gets ya. $100 for our meal. I'm assuming the drinks didn't help but what the hell it was date night. Will return soon. Top notch in every facet! My second time here, this time for an early Father's Day celebration. Of the four of us, three got the petite filet (6 oz.) which was cooked to perfection and quite honestly rivals or surpasses many steakhouses in my hometown of Indianapolis! The fourth got the macadamia crusted walleye which was fantastic. Beautiful space, right on the lake. Favorite part is the bar area which plays up the upscale nautical theme perfectly. Milk for grandchildren required multiple requests. Once dinner ordered it was 40 minutes waiting for it. Went with a group of 8. We had reservations and were seated on time. Hostess and server were friendly. The ambience was nice. We had appetizers which were just ok, we had the eaten before we had a chance to order our main course. A soup we forgotten, but extra crab added to make up for it. A drink was later forgotten but again, they made up for it. The main course food was where they really lacked. The steaks are claimed to be prime. I ordered the special bone in ribeye, which when was placed in front of me I could tell it was not a premium steak. It was a midline choice at best. My friend got perch that tasted like burnt lighter fluid, he had two more of us try it to make sure. They took it back and obviously didn't charge for it, and later told us they found out the oil was bad in the deep fryer. Only one of us had desert, it was good. 3 star since they treated us very well. Otherwise with the quality of the food for the price it would been a 2 star. Pretty disappointed. This USED to be one of our favorite restaurants, especially for a special occasion or to purchase gift certificates as gifts for special occasions. No longer! We went a Couple of nights ago after a hiatus during COVID. Menu prices have gone up drastically. Many favorites have even doubled. While I fully support businesses charging a bit more for extra COVID precautions, etc., this much of an increase is akin to highway robbery. And if I am paying $60 for a steak that used to cost $30, I do NOT expect my baked potato to be a microwaved instead of baked in an oven. The thing was still hard and cold in the middle and wouldn't even melt the butter. Is it really that hard to serve a good baked potato? Oh- and soup salad is no longer included in the meal either. A house salad is an extra $9. Ridiculous!! Pretty sad to spend that much money only to come home and make sandwiches because everyone is still hungry. Asked the owner nicely about the new prices and microwaved baked potatoes, and he was a complete jerk. Said quite rudely he's goi g to make his money back from losses during Covid and folks who come from ChicGo on the weekends do t complain about the price increase. Good luck with that theory in the world yet when they don't come out and all the locals you have now alienated ho elsewhere. I will also quit buying gift certifI ate sad I would be embarrassed to give a $100 gift certificate to a couple and not have it cover their meals, and to have them leave hungry. Embarrassing!!! The Light House is the best resturant in "The Region" hands down. Great food, great facility, great view. Their sea food is very fresh....I vote for the Sea Bass....my husbend is a fan of their steaks and garlic mashed potatos.
