And we got a huge platter of fried vegetables, also good. What I didn't like was we had a free dessert included with our meal BUT... You should definitely be able to take home your included dessert if you can't eat it after your meal. My husband ate his ice cream but I was not allowed to take home my tapioca!!!! Why is that??? They give you containers to take the rest of your meal home why not your dessert? The food was amazing and the waitress was stellar. Great menu with a lot of diner style options. We had the Italian beef and the grilled ham and cheese. Both were delivered fast and hot! They were also both delicious! The beef was tender and juicy and cooked perfectly. The grilled ham and cheese was toasted perfectly as well. The fries were fresh and crisp and golden too. The only down side they need to work on is the host area. They don't take names or keep a list and the place was very busy. They were taking customers out of order and had obvious preferences. I have never had such a "rude" waitress as we did last Friday. My husband ordered minestrone soup, and Sherry brought him lemon rice. My husband ordered a Rueben sandwich and she brought him a Harry O's melt. I ordered the chopped steak medium rare and another person order the same but cooked medium and she switched our dinners. She told my husband he was wrong and she was right. Or entire table agreed with what my husband ordered and she yelled back that we were all wrong and walked away. Needles to say I wouldn't have tipped her at all and I advised the rest of our group to do the same. My husband, being the bigger person left her a small tip stating she really needs it as she must be having a very bad day. Harry O's did a nice job with our very large party. We had a room in the back of the restaurant with a private bar. The facility is very large and handle large groups well. The team here was very friendly and hustled to get our food and drinks. The best dish we had was the fried chicken by far. The chicken was very moist and cooked perfectly. The tender chicken melted in your mouth. The crispy breading had a slight amount of mild spice and greasy taste. Definitely get the fried chicken! The side salad was very plain. The lettuce was fresh. The side vegetables weren't very attractive or plentiful. It was just kind of there. The homemade rolls were very good! The were slightly warm and soft. You could easily pull the roll apart and apply a pat of butter. Very nice! The lemon rice soup was smooth. There was neither a strong lemon or rice texture/taste. The soup was mildly warm. The sauerkraut and sausage was a good attempt at a German dish. The sauerkraut is very mild and lacked any zip or pop of taste. The sausage was plentiful. However, the taste got washed out by the bland kraut. The potatoes had a nice mild spice and were slightly fried. These very somewhat tasty. I love Harry O's taste home cooked food with inexpensive prices. My mother and I came here during her lunch break, the hostess was nice and quick to take our order after we left our menus on the table. So very disappointed with this restaurant. My husband and I stopped on our way through town wanting to take a well needed break from traveling. We ordered an appetizer and 2 Harry 'O cheeseburger meals. Our appetizer never came so when they brought our food I kindly asked them to take the appetizer off our bill. He said no problem and left the table. That's also when we realized our burgers was missing the cheese. We ate our meal anyway because he didn't come back to the table . We never got our drunks refilled because we never saw our waiter again. We stopped here for dinner, after having recently moved into the area. This restaurant needs to figure out what it wants to be. The internal room decor, the items on the menu (I had Prime Rib with a side Lobster Tail), and the prices all appear as if you're experiencing a nice, higher-end, sit-down restaurant. But, the table/chairs, mats, and food quality are all cheap diner level. My wife had Lake Perch, and my son had a cheese burger; both the same quality as my food - which is to say, low. If the prices were 50% what they were, or if the food was twice as good, it would get a higher rating. Our orders were taken and food was delivered to our table in 30 minutes. The pancakes were amazing, the burrito (chorizo) was up there with the best of them. Upon walking into Harry O's you must know that it is not an expensive establishment. The meat of the country fried steak and home fries were a bit lower quality but the rest of the food was quality. So when you place your order and it's repeated back to you and when you get home and find that your broiled seafood dinner has suddenly turned into a a triple grilled cheese sandwich it's a little disappointing. Mistakes happen. After a quick call back to Harry Os I told them about the wrong item in my order. I reordered the broiled seafood dinner and offered to bring the grilled cheese back. I was told to do whatever I want with it. So when I arrived back to the restaurant to get my original order I was instructed to put my credit card in and pay for it again. I understand that a grilled cheese sandwich is cheaper than the broiled seafood dinner. So I thought I was just going to pay the balance. I was a little bit surprised when they charged me full price for the seafood. I asked him why I was being charged full price for it and they acted like I ordered the cheese sandwich. How could you mistake broiled seafood dinner from a grilled cheese sandwich? And how about the rice pilaf and clam chowder that arrived with the first pickup order and comes with the seafood dinner. Let see. Clam chowder and grilled cheese sandwich, yummy not. Here's my issue. I was offered a piece of pie when I returned and did not accept it. I also told them to keep the rice pilaf as I already had it. A simple we're sorry would have made me happy. But none of that was going to happen. I called the restaurant on the way back home on my second trip and talked with someone who said they were the owner. She also brought up that the order was repeated to me. It was I assured her and it was the correct order. So she offered to give me a credit for the grilled cheese and a half hearted apology. In conclusion: After getting food from this restaurant for 15 years or more without incident I finally understand what other customers have said about the employees. They can keep my grilled cheese sandwich refund and put it towards customer service classes. I'm done, won't see me again. I will share this incident with my friends. Guaranteed! read more
