It has been 7 years since my last review here, so I wanted to leave another 5 star rating, naturally. This is the spot my bestie and I always meet up at at Christmas time, and it's for several reasons. Best food, best cocktails, best ambiance, best service, best everything. This time we had the mushroom caps, jalapeños, and truffle parm fries, and we were both in love. The themed drinks were on point as per usual, and this is still one of the best spots to hang out at in the region.

Went to Stacks again. It's always crowded so best to have a reservation. The food was excellent again and the service impeccable. This is definitely my favorite place in the area.

We were greeted when we walked in. The restaurant was super cute. Books and antiques everywhere. They didn't have a lot of vegan options other than the potatoes. I had a nice mocktail. I was glad to confirm the pancakes were cooked with eggs before I ordered them. Everyone else seemed to have liked their food.

A group of friends decided to expose us to one of their favorite restaurants, let's just say I wasn't impressed. Upon walking in the decor is a stark reminder of Harry Potter world and I loved that! Thee is a winding staircase that leads to the rooftop behind the hostess desk!! We were seated 30 minutes before our reservation and that was amazing! I expected the dining room to be busy on a Saturday night, but it was pretty calm. Our waiter was sweet, a bit rushed, but sweet. My husband and I ordered the surf and turf while my sister friend and her husband order the burger with garlic truffle fries and stuffed chicken. Myself and my husband had to try the jumbo crab! It did not let me down!!!! I wanted to order one to go!! The pricing on this is only $20!! It's authentic and filled with crab, so I think this is a steal!!! The surf and turf is visually mouthwatering, but the taste leaves much to be desired. The dish is served a bit lukewarm and the shrimp within the pineapple still tasted like the sea . The rice that is stuffed in the pineapple has chunks of pineapple and bacon. I personally didn't believe the bacon was a good addition to the "surf and turf" theme. The drinks were pretty good, I'll describe them as lite. If you are in the area, try it for yourself. The ambiance and decor are perfect for a summer night!!

Melissa is the best bartender in the world! I almost always get a daily special to go with my cocktail. The bar is friendly and convivial.

So excited to try the rooftop! This was a different food and drink menu and soooo good! Service was excellent and we had a great server named Sierra. Hub had the filet and I had the steak tacos- both delicious! The vibe and ambience outdoors is great on a warm evening. We really liked it and will be back!

Been coming here since grand opening. Never disappoints. Between service and quality they are hard to beat. Amazing place!

Had a date night during our favorite specials week - breakfast for dinner week. We sat in the bar and enjoyed a lovely view of the televisions and the relaxed atmosphere. Our server Ellie was fantastic. She was very attentive and made sure all her tables around us were taken care of. The food was amazing as always - steak and eggs is always our favorite (make sure to add extra lemon parm sauce as that stuff is addicting). The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. My Heisenberg drinks were made perfectly as well and rounded out our meal very nicely.

Note this restaurant has different menus for different locations in the same restaurant. (Main floor, rooftop, igloo and Sunday brunch) but different. Reservations suggested for all. This experience was on the rooftop. It is a loud place even very early on a Friday night. Not a vegan friendly menu. The coconut shrimp and steak tacos were enjoyed at my table. The alcohol selections are extensive. There was half price happy hour on Thursdays, still? The hot cookie skillet was the main reason for our dining choice and it did not disappoint. If super sweet is your perfect end to a meal, go for it!

A warm, library style setting. This restaurant has a main floor with a specific menu and a rooftop bar area that is 21+ with another specific menu. There are specials for appetizers, dinner features, and drinks. Those are only available on the main floor. This place gets packed so reservations are very highly recommended. The service here is always great and the food comes out fast. They are very well-known for their presentation. You will find a great variety of beers and specialty cocktails.

My wife and I spent several days in Valparaiso to both visit her sister and introduce me to the town where both of them went to college. I had always wanted to go there and am very happy to say that I totally enjoyed the visit. While there, we ate most meals out. Stacks was one of them. Let me start by saying that I loved this venue. Everything speaks of books. It feels like you are in the library of some rich and eccentric book lover. I really liked the view going up the staircase. I wish we had eaten up there, but my sister in law is recovering from an injury and doesn't do well with stairs right now. I would post more pictures of the venue, but my sister in law was in them and would kill me. This place was really hopping. It was a Sunday right around lunch time. We were going to a 2:00 PM matinee at the Opera House and wanted plenty of time to eat. Our dining area was covered in wall to wall books and a few giant TVs. I don't remember what the ladies ordered, except that they had a bucket of mimosas. That consisted of a bottle of Proseco and three small carafes of juices. I was torn with what to order, but with a little explanation of one of my choices by our wonderful server, Ashalee, I finally picked Shakshuka a la Mexicana. It was eggs poached in a tomato sauce with olive oil, peppers, and onions. It was topped with avocado slices and cotija cheese. It came with a stack of 5 delicious corn tortillas. I usually avoid Mexican food like the plague when I am not in San Antonio. This was surprisingly good, although I had never had this particular dish before, let alone heard of it. The eggs were poached very nicely. The sauce was very flavorful. The tortillas were softly fried and tasted great. The only thing wrong with the dish is that it really smelled strongly of cominos, which offended my wife's delicate schnozz. If I lived in Valparaiso, this would be a frequent choice for dinner or lunch. Go online and check out the menu. It has a lot of enticing choices.

Dumb. Maybe don't close the rooftop on a beautiful night with an event going on 2 hours before you close.

Hello I have a bad knee is there an elevator to the top?

No, however I'm sure if you express this concern, I'm sure they might be able to let you order off the upstairs menu.

I had always wanted to go there and am very happy to say that I totally enjoyed the visit. While there, we visited a lot of places and ate most meals out. Ironwood was one of them. Most of you know that I have serious OCD when it comes to craft beer. I like to try new breweries, always rate my suds on Untappd, and rarely drink beers that I have already had, unless there are no other options. So, of course I was going to try the breweries in Valparaiso. This one just happened to be owned by one of my wife's college friends. The brewery is in a nice little building. I'm sure it was probably a home before the remodel. It has ample parking in the back next to a small little patch of woods, probably about the size of a normal backyard. There were birds all over the trees, reminding me that I had made the stupid decision to leave my camera in San Antonio. My eyes immediately fell on the flight boards. They are set up with 9 spaces so that they can easily match the beer to a number, as they had nine choices to choose from. I asked for all nine to be on one, and she let me have them half-filled. I love beer, but never want to feel buzzed, if I plan to drive. In this situation, I just wanted to taste them. I liked all of the beers here. My two favorites were the Triple XXX Belgian Triple and the Cricket IPA. I also really liked Goliath's Demise barleywine. Barleywines in general are not my favorites, usually because they are not fresh. This one was fresh and not cloyingly sweet. My wife, as most of you know, is not a beer drinker- AT ALL. For that reason, we left after I finished the flight and a couple of small glasses of my two favorites. The atmosphere was very cozy. The local patrons who came in were all very friendly. One lady at the bar spoke with us as if we were there with her every day. The owner's husband came in and placed a plate with smoked salmon and crackers on the bar for everyone. And, most notably, there was not a TV in sight! Imagine, a place to cozily sit and converse with fellow beer drinkers without sports blasting in your ears!

Tasted like lime, too much and wasn't for me. But that's ok, the salmon is the best in valpo and the southwest chicken salad is fantastic! Not every meal is for everyone. The servers/bartenders we frequently see and know are Jordan, Adam and Abi. All are great at what they do and no matter how hectic things are, they are always welcoming, courteous and attentive. The drinks they serve are always consistently on point, no matter who is making them. That's a huge plus in my book. The only real negative I have about the place are the chairs at the bar. I get angular is ascetically pleasing to management, but to customers it's annoying and provides nothing but extra work. I have to move two chairs to sit down, how does that make any sense. Quit overthinking the chair alignment at the bar, I beg you. Of course it won't stop my wife and I from coming almost every week, but I truly hope one day I will walk in there and see the bar chairs straight and not angled. Anyways, if you want a place with great food, very clean, unbelievable workers and an ambiance unlike anywhere else is NWI, you will want to go here. Side note, if they could just add a steak to the menu that would make it perfect.
