Upon initial inquiry, Specialist Roofing & Repair was pretty quick to reply, so I scheduled a consultation. One odd thing is, when I scheduled, they asked if the would be seeing both my husband and I or just me; I find this a strange question as what if I wasn't married? It is awfully assumptive to think I had to have a husband, but I digress. Noah was scheduled to perform the inspection. He was running a bit late and called about 5 minutes after our scheduled time letting me know he ran into some traffic and would be about another 5 minutes or so. He showed up 20 minutes later and it was the oddest thing, he parked in my driveway. When he came up to the door he asked if it was okay and I said okay, but honestly, I found it really strange and just didn't want to prolong the appointment. Upon inspection, he seemed very knowledgeable and personable and did a pretty thorough inspection taking pictures and videos of the roof and surrounding areas. As mentioned, I am the type to obtain multiple quotes, so I expected that after he did the inspection, we would go over his findings and a few days later I would receive a quote. After he did the inspection, he showed me a video of something the other roofers didn't, which was nice as I like a thorough job, but then said he would be in touch with a quote. I received a phone call a few days later asking to discuss findings, but when I called back, I got an AI bot which was then followed up by a call back from a real person. Oddly enough, when they called, they literally said nothing. They asked if it was a good time to talk and I said yes but they wanted to talk when "my husband was around." Even though I said it was a good time, they said they would call back. I followed up via Yelp message. It has been over a week and I have yet to receive any quote from them. Needless to say, I won't be going with this company. They aren't willing to work with just a woman and are unresponsive.

All of the roofing contractors other than J&J Roofing advised us to re-roof our entire house. Even though the front half of the roof of a 50 year roof (which was installed before we owned the house and J&J Roofing as not involved) has not lasted anywhere near 50 years, the front side and back side have worn differently. All of the other roofers would not even re-roof just the front half - it was all or nothing. J&J said that they could easily repair the issue without re-roofing and it cost us less than $500 for them to repair it. The repair worked. Almost four years later (and they had told us that at least the front half of the roof had only a few years remaining), at least the front half of the roof needed to be replaced. Since they had been so fair and honest with us and we were pleased with their work, we did not bid out the project - they got it. As they had said before, only the front half of the roof needed to be replaced at this time (with a possible additional ten years on the back half). We own solar panels and they referred us to someone who agreed to remove and replace the panels for almost half the cost that the company which installed the panels would have charged us. While it's not inexpensive to re-roof a house (even half of a roof), we felt their price was fair, they saved us the additional $3,500 that our solar company would have charged, their staff and crew were and always have been very professional and honest. The roof looks wonderful and they coordinated scheduling for the solar panels to be removed and replaced. They collaborated with that business. We recommend J&J Roofing without hesitation.

The quote itself was very clear and descriptive of all work, which was very appreciated as it made it so much easier to compare with other roofers. United Master Roofing came in with the second lowest quote for me, even providing different options for underlayment to save on cost. Ultimately we ended up moving forward with another roofer just due to slightly better pricing, but I would recommend them based on communication, price, & and overall ease of working relationship. The roofer we decided to move forward with does not do maintenance outside of warranty coverage, so we will probably circle back when we need maintenance.

My wife and I didn't want to cheap out on a roof so we went with this company. Unfortunately our price had doubled (price of a brand new car of the year at that point) after the demolition was done because of how bad the wood was underneath and we were recommended to put new plywood over it and we were told it would provide better support instead of replacing all the wood. We were also told it would be more money spent and risk the possibility of leaks later on if we tried replacing the old wood. The inspectors were informative of the work needing to be done but at times they did come off as more of salesmen trying to make a sale and get their numbers up. However we went ahead, bit the bullet, and approved the work. The job took about a week or two. I would have liked more communication on when workers would pass by because sometimes they would show up unannounced. Also I had found our Blink cameras on the floor under the roof rubble a couple times even though I had offered to remove them. Nevertheless the roof is done. It looks amazing. Time will tell if the work and warranty was worth the price. I will update my review accordingly.

Most important, his crew takes their time, they're not rushed. His guys took a week to do my roof where others said they'd get it done in 3 days. I actually went to look at other jobs before hiring a roofer. His guys were careful and did all the repairs we agreed to. I especially liked how they didn't charge a per sqft for deck replacement, it was just included in the price. They also fixed rafter tails as needed and primed them for protection. They came with their own porta potty and didn't pass the cost onto me, just one simple price. What was great is that the one simple price was lower than other crews and used better material. Instead of paper, they used ULD synthetic underlayment. I asked for peel and stick ice and water shield in the valleys, a new cricket for the chimney. I was on site every day up on the roof inspecting and they never seemed annoyed with me looking over things. I asked a lot of questions and pointed out areas I'd like them to focus on or fix an issue (missed nail on a rafter tail, soft deck needing more replacement, uneven deck, etc.). You should always inspect work and not wait until the end when fixes are difficult and be reasonable in your asks. These guys are cool and will help you and want you to be happy, just be respectful and don't wait till the end of the job to give them a list of issues. The only real hiccup was that the shingle model delivered wasn't the model I specified. The brand, color and warranty is the same, but the SRI index was different. Ultimately, we worked out a fair compromise and am satisfied with the result.
