I had an AMAZING massage here for my birthday! Wendy was extremely skilled and left me feeling totally renewed from head to toe! I arrived about an hour and half early to take advantage of the spa amenities and really enjoyed detoxing in the dry and wet saunas since I essentially had all day access. The atmosphere was extremely calming from the moment I walked in. They had complimentary lockers, robes and towels along with nice bathrooms changing rooms and showers. Their relaxation room /waiting area had the comfiest couches and a cozy fire place. They also had complimentary snacks, water and tea. I had a wonderful time and would highly recommend Stillwater Spa to anyone visiting! read more

My main gripe about this place is they automatically charge you a 20% gratuity without telling you before hand. I am happy to tip at the end of good service but I certainly don't believe in this sneaky way of forcing a fee. If they insist on doing business this way shouldn't they notify the customer before hand? I definitely didn't feel relaxed after my massage here, more annoyed about the way they do business. The massage, facilities and experience itself was fine and I would have tipped 20% on my own. The problem is that when the tip is forced it doesn't allow the customer to feel generous but cheated. read more

This spa was really friendly and not pretentious. I was on the fence about coming here because I kinda felt like I was already spending a bunch of money on our vacation, but my husband convinced that I should get a massage because it was my birthday. Always right, I took his his advice and boy was I glad that I did. When I got to the spa, I was led to the the locker room where I changed for the massage. From there I was led upstairs to a private room where the massage took place. It was quiet and peaceful. Overall, the massage was great and the price was actually pretty reasonable for a nice resort. Only water and tea at the spa no snacks and they had a green juice which I didn't like it was sweet. They also offered champagne. Got a 60-minute balancing massage with Oran he was great soft pressure. The massages are $225 with 20% gratuity included so $270 total. I would give it 4 stars since they also aren't open past 5, open kind of late, and need some reading material. I did ask for a snack and they offered me granola and chocolate which they make in-house which is delicious. I had it before on their guided hikes. They don't have any reading material which they do need in the waiting area some magazines and books. Also, they open kind of late at 9:30. Lastly, they should include the sauna and steam room at no charge for hotel guests as part of the resort fee. read more

I've loved this spa for 7-8years now...the facials are always fabulous. Sadly I'll be looking for a new spa as the products in the bathrooms/showers are not great. They smell like strong/cheap MEN's aftershave and thus that is what you will smell like for the remainder of the day. The shampoo/conditioner and body wash all have this strong manly scent. For this price point I want the whole experience. I asked for other products but they don't carry anything additional. read more

Stayed at the Hyatt Hotel for a few nights. After breakfast one morning we decided to go straight to the pool as we had our bathing suits with us. My husband found a men's changing room but the women's was occupied. As it was right by the spa I popped in and asked to change there. The receptionist immediately turned me down. I then saw a little changing room in their boutique and asked to use it as it was no where near the actual spa entrance but she lied to me with a straight face saying it's an office. read more

My visit to Stillwater Spa today was completely worth an updated review on yelp. I booked a later appointment after 2 1/2 months without a hydrafacial, while booking I just selected "female". I was greeted, very professionally, by Angela. She immediately was so nurturing and kind. She asked me about my skin and was super professional. The hydrafacial I received from her may have been the best I've EVER had. She literally went over every part of my face, multiple times, and was soooooooo precise. I am a fan! My husband was kind enough to send me for an afternoon at the spa while we were staying at the Hyatt during my birthday and our anniversary weekend. I definitely left feeling refreshed and relaxed, and thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent getting pampered. I had an 80 minute massage and a 50 minute facial. Both treatments were bliss and I loved the therapists. The amenities are awesome as well, though I didn't get to indulge in them as long as I should have. The staff here are amazing as well. At the end of my visit, when I was checking out, the front desk folks let me know they had something for me, and offered me a glass of champagne while I was waiting. I browsed the merchandise, but rather than keep me waiting, they would have whatever it was sent to my room. A little while later, I had a little surprise waiting for me at my room door. The staff had taken the extra step to get me an amazing dessert to celebrate my birthday! I'm so used to the basic birthday greeting, but the fact that the spa staff did that little extra thing for me really made me feel special and so appreciative. It made my day and put the biggest smile on my face. Stillwater is amongst my top official spa facilities, and I will make it a point to set aside a few hours for a visit to Stillwater spa the next time I'm in Incline Village. It has been a while since I treated myself to a Therapy Thursday facial. Such a renewing experience. Special "shout out" to Dixie. I was in capable and gentle hands. It was a very slow day at the spa, and Dixie took a few more minutes to work on the tension in my neck and shoulders. The women in the shop were very pleasant. No problems with check out that I had with some past visits. I appreciated the extra help as I tried to pick out some new products. Stillwater Spa remains one of my favorite spa experiences. I know this is a late review, but I really can't let it go. Went there about 6 months or so ago, and wanted Botox. I have had it before and had positive results. ( I saw a doctor for my previous injections.) Woman who gave me injections insisted that Botox wouldn't help me because my wrinkles were deep. Proceded to try to sell me a $1200 facial instead. I declined, and she gave me my botox, I am totally convinced it was sterile water. I will never go back. No I don't want to come back at a discount, so don't even try. The Hyatt is a nice place so you would think there spa was just a good, but unfortunately not. My cousin and I found a Groupon for a 50min massage for $129, we called and made the appointment and all was well. I've never had such a rude, abrasive massuse before. Granted I usually pick men because they typically have a little more pressure than women. I picked a woman this time and had an old broad named Katie. When she asked me how her pressure was I told she could deepen it just a hair. She scoffed and told me that would be extra and she could upgrade me, I declined. She rudely pinched me a couple times when I instinctively helped move myself for her, and she barked at me telling me not to help. When I left the room she yelled at me again asking what I had put in my pocket, and I pulled out my necklace confused, again she barked at me telling me not to do that. So when we go to leave we've given them all our info for the Groupon and apparently a 20% gratuity is left to pay. Not to mention the 20% is based off the ORIGINAL PRICE!!! So we each leave a $43 tip! I'm not typically the one to complain about tipping but I believe it's earned. Needless to say I will be going to the Peppermill for my massages for now on. read more

Stillwater Spa has the potential to be a great spa. But on the day we were there- it really was just okay which was surprising as it wasn't that busy. We were checked in promptly and efficiently which was good. After being shown to the locker room and given a quick tour, we went off to sit in the highlight of the spa and that is the steam room. Probably one of the best steam rooms I have ever been in. But it was when we came out of the steam room that we realized that this spa really didn't have anyone attendants helping to keep it stocked. There were no iced towels, no snacks in the waiting area, no paper towels by the sinks, no hairbrushes, it was as if they had just closed and hadn't restocked yet it was the middle of the day! My friend went out to the desk to tell them that things needed to be replenished, and they did come in and do it, but I don't want to be the one telling them what needs to get done . . I want to relax! As for my massage- I think they have a range of experience levels. One in our group raved about the guy she had while my technician was just okay and really didn't do much even after I asked her for more pressure. Another miss of this spa is that they do not have a private pool area. So on the day we were there, we were told we couldn't use the pool as the guests in the hotel had filled it to capacity. What? When you are spending the kind of money we spent, it was hard to believe we couldn't sit out by the poo to relax. I did like the salon in the spa. Natalie was who did my hair and she was great! My hair looked wonderful and she even found me a non liquid sunscreen product that is perfect for this traveling girl. All in all for this spa loving girl? Stillwater spa has some work to do to bring it up to the level of service I expect from a spa at a resort. read more

Two words - Brian Sheppa. You must go to Stillwater Spa and ask for him! You won't regret it! This spa rivals the top spas I've been to. They give you a robe, slippers, a toothbrush, and a razor. Amenities abound complete with a steam room, sauna, showers, and a relaxation room. The highlight though was my 55-minute signature Stillwater massage. It was in a luminous space with nice big windows. My massage therapist Brian gave me one of the best massages I've ever had. He concentrated on my neck and shoulders. The first time I've come to Stillwater Spa at the Hyatt Resort Incline Village. It is not Co-ed, but amenities are nice with European showers, Steam Sauna, Dry Sauna, areas to dry and style your hair after treatments, and a relaxation area that has great snack while you are waiting. My massage therapist was Katie Olsen, who gave me the best 80 minute deep tissue massage that therapeutic and addressed many of my problem areas that I wasn't even aware of. It was not painful, and I was able to be so relaxed that I even fell asleep here and there. I left feeling relaxed and tight spots relieved. Katie is not an average massage therapist. She really understands anatomy and makes massage a truly therapy and not simply a relaxation experience. She is the reason I took the time to share my review. NICE FACILITIES, DISAPPOINTING TREATMENTS. This is the second time I've paid big bucks at Stillwater just to find myself disappointed. For the price, I expect more than just mediocre treatments. I'd give my massage a C. There was not much pressure at all, which can be okay with me if it's a relaxing put-you-to-sleep massage, but nor was it that. When I asked for more pressure, she told me I would have to purchase a sports massage. I give the pedicure I got today a D. There was ZERO massage involved. That is the whole point of getting a pedicure. I feel like I just paid $90 for a polish. That said, the facilities are very nice. You get the bathrobe-slippers treatment and access to the steam room, sauna and relaxation area. The first time I went, you got cucumbers for the steam room, the second time they were gone. Don't get me started on the shower. It had big potential with multiple shower heads, but since there was no hot water, it was like taking the Polar Plunge in Lake Tahoe, but not by choice. After about 5 minutes, when the hot water eventually came in, it alternated between scalding and cold. When you check out, they inform you that "for your convenience" they have added a 20% gratuity. After such a disappointing pedicure, it felt like adding insult to injury. Furthermore, when I told them about the shower, they made no effort to make amends. No, "I'm sorry, here's 2% off your next service," just a "we'll look into that." As a local, I would like to recommend Stillwater to friends and guests, but it would come with the caveat, "nice facilities, disappointing treatments." I love leaving a spa and feeling pampered and don't mind paying top dollar for quality treatments, but at Stillwater I always leave feeling ripped off. Hyatt, you can do better! read more

One of the best massages I've ever had. She was excellent, it was very therapeutic as the knots in my back, hips & shoulders were loosened. The spa area itself is older, very clean but the interior could use an update. Massage was $225 plus a $45 "service charge" was auto added to the bill. I liked it here and found myself indulging in everything it had to offer. Slippers? Sure. And all the rest: robe, locker sauna and steam, cucumber on the eyes, a stack of towels. Shower in the steam room and another with wall-mounted jacuzzi jets. Body gel, shampoo, conditioner. Brushed my teeth, mouthwash and shaved with cream. Aftershave. Deodorant. Q-tips. Cream. Blow dry. In the waiting room enjoyed chocolate, mute, blackberry, water and chips. Relaxed, watched, read and waited for them to call. My therapist was kind and cute. She had skills and soft small hands and a style that felt knowledgeable. Some techniques I've never seen and when she was done I was wishing I had a third leg, arm and foot not just the usual two. read more

This spa is amazing! My bridesmaids and I had a spa day before the wedding here and received excellent manicures and pedicures. On my wedding day, we all got our hair done and the staff was kind enough to let us get dressed last minute in their VIP changing area. My updo turned out amazing and never fell down or needed adjustments - it just stayed put all day! my husband surprised me with a spa day at the Stillwater Spa at you Lake Tahoe location in Incline Village for my birthday.  After an absolutely amazing massage by Wendy, followed by a lovely pedicure, then facial, I became abruptly aware of the unprofessional and absolutely disgusting behavior of your spa staff.  When my husband and I checked in to the spa for our 2:00 couples massage I was led (by a dark haired young woman) to a locker to store my personal belongings. She led me to locker number 36, where I placed my purse, hat, necklace, shoes, sweater jeans and undergarments. At approximately 6pm as I began to wrap up my visit at Stillwater I once again saw the same young woman who had Initially  led me to my locker. We made eye contact and exchanged a smile as I entered my 4 digit code and unlocked my locker. To my surprise all of my belongings were missing and replaced with a fresh robe and new towels.  I immediately notified the same young woman of this problem, who right away, made another employee aware. That employee was Heather , who asked me to start entering my code into every locked locker. After doing so with no resolution I asked what else could be done. Heather assured me over and over that no employee  at the resort or spa has keys or access to the lockers. I soon found out that was completely false and an outright lie, because as soon as I called my husband, who arrived at the front desk, Heather, herself was holding a key. She, and the other young woman, began to unlock EVERY SINGLE LOCKER with that key to allow me to confirm my belongings weren't in any of them. During this process I was on the phone with my husband, another employee, an older woman with short, white/blondish hair, demanded I not speak about the incident over the phone so other patrons wouldn't know what was going on. Not only was that comment completely unprofessional but it was demeaning and belittling as well. After confirming with the two employees that none of my belongings were  in any of the lockers, I exited the locker room and went to the front desk to meet with my husband. At this point the Spa Directer,  Erica introduced herself and called security. Although it took security some time to start gathering information, they created an incident report.  When my husband began making calls to cancel our credit cards he mentioned to me we would have to call his Chief Security Officer and notify his Chain of Command because both mine and my son's military IDs were in my wallet and there was now a threat of a security breach.   I then mentioned the type of purse I had, by brand,  and how much it was worth. At this point I said out loud to my husband "this has to have been an inside job, because no one could have known my locker code". The room, although full of employees and security all standing around the the front desk, fell silent.  Within minutes of that comment to my husband, Erica asked me to go back to the locker area to identify a purse.  My purse along with my clothes had suddenly appeared in locker number 60. The EXACT locker near the back that I watched Heather and the other employee open with a key. It was empty at the time they opened it in front of me but now, all of a sudden my belongings were disheveled inside. My purse, which I had placed on the top shelf (of locker 36) , was opened and sitting on the bottom shelf (of locker 60) Along with my clothes which were shoved in the locker. At this point I asked the first employee whom took me to the locker at 2pm how it was possible that my stuff appeared in a completely different locker. She told me she has no idea since she witnessed me type in my code and open locker 36. At this point a woman who I had not seen before was holding the locker key. She told me it was "totally weird but at least I found my stuff" and it was probably another customer who was playing a vindictive joke.  Of my belongings, $400 in cash along with a  brand new Diamond necklace and a hat were missing. The odd thing is that a $191 ticket voucher I had won from the Grand Lodge Casino, earlier in the day was still present but no longer in my purse. It was thrown on top of my clothes and wrinkled up. If in fact, a patron of the establishment had gotten ahold of my things then surely $191 voucher would be the first thing they went after. Only an employee would return that, in fear that by cashing it in they would be questioned. read more

I was at the Hyatt for our honeymoon but a certain someone still had to work, so I scheduled myself a massage here for when he was expecting a conference call. It was so lovely. Stillwater keeps with the hotel's rustic chic theme, and it feels very cozy. You can have a cup of tea by the fire after enjoying the sauna while you wait for your appointment, which is right up my alley. My treatment room had a huge window, but you can only see out, they can't see in. So cool! It was like being submerged in the wilderness. The Stillwater Massage (50 min) was very nice, and all the wedding stress just melted away. It was pretty pricey, but not all that more than most hotel spas charge. Convenience, you know? If I ever stay at this Hyatt again (I hope to!) and feel like splurging, I wouldn't hesitate to come back. read more

I'm going to update this and add two stars, one for improved service and one for Brenna. Brenna makes up for all of the mediocre massages I've had at Stillwater. She's friendly, skilled, and strong and has the empathy that a good masseuse requires. Ask for her if you come here. And the service is improved, too - when a small error inconvenienced my mother in law, they not only made it right but they comped her another day at the spa. Now, if they'd just add indoor hot tubs, make sure the fluffy towels are stocked next to the showers (not the coarse ones) and hire more attentive staff for their reception desk, I'd give them five stars. read more

We stay at the Hyatt in Incline Village whenever we go to Tahoe and I always get a massage while there. This week, I indulged in 2, both from Michael who was fantastic. Michael was committed to do whatever he could to fix my ailments with massage and he also showed me some stretches that would help my ailing neck and shoulders long term. Michael really understands the mechanics of the body and shares his knowledge and recommendations so you walk away with tools to improve your health. Wish I could see him every week...think my neck issues would be history in a matter of weeks. The staff at the spa are fantastic as well. The spa is beautiful, since their second total renovation in less than 10 years, but it doesn't compare to other high-end spas elsewhere. Don't expect to be pampered at all and their pool, etc., is off limits most of the time, which is ridiculous. The treatments you pay top $$$ price for, (messages, facials, etc.), are average, at best. We are locals in Incline, and the next time we want to be pampered at a spa, we'll head to the Atlantis or the Peppermill down in Reno, to get pampered better and at half the price of the Stillwater. A-MAZING. A group of us cashed in our travelzoo deals for facials and massages. Im picky when it comes to massages because my step mom is a massuse and the BEST ive ever had, but my lady was still pretty good....I enjoyed the relaxation. I had my facial done by Dixie....DROOLLLLLLLL best facial i have ever had! My last experience was horrible, i was picked up and hurt and thought I hated facials, I decided to give them a second chance and glad I did. I was falling asleep after the facial massage part. I could have that done daily. Not only were the services awesome, but the lunch and champagne were delicious!! I had the spinach salad. Also highly recommend taking advantage of the amenities, I wasnt really feeling the sauna but the steam room was heaven, with a cold towel and cucumbers on my eyes I was completely relaxed. The ambiance is just great, tasteful and I like the snacks that they offer. COME HERE!!! One screw up on my part, I organized the whole thing and told everyone they didnt need anything aside from the vouchers and didnt realize that the tips were based off full value, so when they asked for 60 dollars for a tip i felt like a piece of crap after only having 20 on me. Thankfully someone out of the group at least tipped correctly, i HATE people who dont tip and I hated being that person even more. Pretty embarrassing. Thanks for the great experience! read more

The facilities are generally nice, but I wouldn't recommend a pedicure here. My husband and I both went, both pedicures were the same price and had the same stated treatment length, but for his, since he didn't want polish (which I imagine is the case for most who request the gentlemen's pedicure) the technician just got up and left 15 minutes early. The area where the pedicures were done were not comfortable at all and had none of the amenities that you'd expect at even a basic pedicure place - just a cushioned bench to sit on, no jets for your feet. My technician did a great job with the polish, and it looked great for a few weeks, but $90 + 20% tip seems awfully steep just for that. read more

Enjoyed an Amazing massage here today with Mabel. I've had many massages in my life and I can tell when someone knows body work. I work in the food and beverage industry sometimes working 12hrs on my feet. Which I did yesterday. My body gets tight. She worked with my body-right where I needed it without much conversation. She checked in with me and moved on (Which is key- my friend had a very chatty therapist I felt for her). I was blown away when I left my room. I am also 6 months pregnant and I appreciate when she kindly reminded me to stay out of the sauna and steam room. Her delivery on this matters to me because a lot of people will tell you how to live when pregnant. MABEL IS TOP NOTCH! I will remember this as one of the best! The facility is small. I've been to nicer spas in this price range. However, this is a part of a hotel/resort. There is a sauna and eucalyptus steam room available on the woman's side. They offer tazo tea and spa water as well as home made snacks (not worth the calories). I can understand where some yelpers may find a mediocre massage not worth the price tag + 20% gratuity. I've had massages that we mediocre and felt like a waste of money. However, I feel incredibly lucky to have had Mabel as my therapist that she was worth the price of the massage + 30% gratuity. read more

I had the best hot stone massage with Katie! It was a spur of the moment trip and I was so happy to be able to get in with short notice. Katie couldn't have been more of a pleasure to work with. She gave an amazing massage, was kind, friendly, and humble. She was able to zero in on some problem areas and wasn't afraid to work them out. I could truly feel a difference in my shoulders and back after my appointment. I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. The locker area was peaceful, clean and supplied with all necessary toiletries. Relaxation area was comfortable and stocked with lovely goodies like chocolate, fruit and candied nuts. I got a deal off travel zoo for a massage, facial, food coupon, champaign, and use of day spa. First the bad. I think it is the worst massage I've gotten. I've probably had more than 100 of them too. I felt like it was totally mechanical. Off the bat, I told the therapist that I like firmer massage, and that I had a medical problem that caused my joints to dislocate and how to deal with it. He would change things for a minute and the go back on autopilot. He clearly didn't really care about what he was doing. It wasn't enjoyable or relaxing, but what's worse was that he moved my arms around in a way and did strokes in a direction that has caused my shoulder to dislocate. It's four in the morning and I'm waiting for pain killers to kick in. I am going a Rolfer to get it back in place. -not relaxing at the time -caused injury You couldn't pay me to get another massage by this person. Zero stars. But the good! Front desk staff was super nice and helpful. Lots of little touches like a toothbrush in every locker and iced towels for the stream room. Had a facial with Krissy and it might be the best facial I have gotten. She started and ended ever stroke well, chatted just the right amount, and really adjusted the products to my skin needs. I'd definitely pay to see her again. After all the treatments I had lunch by the pool which was really nice (other than the dude with a leaf blower). I never felt rushed. Five stars for facial, front desk staff, and facilities. My mom's been there recently for same deal a couple of times and had a similar response. Facials and experiences was great. Massages were 'eh'. So I say go for the facials and to lounge around for a few hours, but find somewhere else for a massage. I'm sure for the same cost you can find a local therapist who will come to your room and do a far better job. read more
