A 'better late than never' review! I booked a couples massage for my girlfriend and I on our weekend getaway to Tahoe in October 2022. I booked it through the website very easily and a couple days prior to the date I got a courtesy call to confirm and make sure I knew how to find the place. It's located upstairs and the lobby has a stunning view of Lake Tahoe. The 90 minute massages were excellent and the energy in the room was lovely. My girlfriend and I both appreciated that they weren't trying to perform the exact same massage. We felt that they were each attuned to our individual bodies and needs. We got away from the Bay Area for the weekend and decided to get a 90 min couples massage. We really enjoyed this place. The girls were very professional and the space is very clean. I had originally booked this place because of their reviews and for their views from the rooms but I booked the massages too late so we didn't see a view. Very disappointed. My daughter and I went for massage. My masseuse was terrific. Kudos and five stars. My daughter's was not vaccinated abad her mask was not on properly upon arrival. I think when you are in a closed room with a personal client, you need to be vaccinated or fully covered with a window open. If you go, please check to be sure you have someone who has been vaccinated for Covid. A masseuse is much like a medical professional and frankly, I think it should be required. read more

Had a GREAT experience at Lighthouse Spa during my latest Tahoe vacation. Located in adorable Tahoe City, the spa truly combines the "spa" & "Tahoe" feeling together in one. The actual spa is a bit hidden, located on the 2nd story in the back lot area facing the water. I got a 60 min swedish massage by Brooke followed by a 30 min refresher facial by Amy. My massage by Brooke was absolutely heavenly. She asked me where my problem areas were & really worked on them. I also really appreciate how much pressure she used! Often times I feel like masseuses are afraid of using too much pressure, but Brooke was not & CLEARLY knew what she was doing the entire time. I pretty much floated out of the room after I was done with her because she was so great. My facial with Amy was equally as great. I appreciated how much restraint she used during my facial. She told me upfront after looking at my skin that it was in pretty good shape, and that she would only some work in certain areas. An amazing experience & I will be back during my next vacation! Such a great find in Tahoe City! My girlfriends and I came here yesterday and had such a wonderful experience. First, they accommodated us with same day appointments. We had two deep tissue massages and a prenatal massage. I had the prenatal and it was the best prenatal massage I have ever had. My entire body was worked on, the pressure was perfect and the head rub at the end made it exactly what I needed. The rooms over look the lake and the atmosphere is like most spas, warm, peaceful and inviting. The prices were reasonable and the service was exceptional. With some time to kill in Tahoe City, my friends and I found a Yelp deal for Lighthouse Spa and decided it was the perfect way to spend 30 min before our friend with the car picked us up. My masseuse was Renee and she was awesome. Sweet girl, knows the body, and is enthusiastic to give advice on releasing stress areas of your body (apparently I have to stretch my mouse-using hand more!). I like a little bit more of an all-hands rubbing and squeezing rather than fingertips finding pressure points, but it's not as if I communicated this beforehand so my fault. My massage table was heated, had a gorgeous view of Lake Tahoe, and Zen-like music to space out to during the massage. The waiting area is a couple of not terribly comfortable (or large) padded benches, but they make use of what space they have well. The cucumber water was a nice touch, but no sauna or shower was also kind of a bummer. (Especially because after my massage, I was pretty greasy from the oil Renee used. I had to use the sheet on the massage table to wipe myself down before putting my clothes back on.) Given these things, I'd rate Lighthouse Spa a 3.5 rounded up to 4 for being so accommodating for 3 walk-ins. I've been spoiled by some amazing massage places in San Francisco so my expectations are high, but if you find yourself with time to spare in Lake Tahoe and want to escape the cold, Lighthouse Spa would be a solid choice. read more

I made an appointment for 3 Lighthouse Massages this past Wednesday. My friends and I had a pretty packed schedule and the Spa did not have 3 masseuses available during the times I requested. But Emily was great! I was impressed by how hard she worked to accommodate us! She kept me well informed and in the end was able to get our appointments confirmed. My masseuse, Andrea, was incredible. I love getting massages. I've had some really good ones, and some really bad ones in the past. Andrea, I would highly recommend. I told her my problem areas and she focused on my requests. She went beyond to cater to my preferences. She was knowledgeable and thorough! I was so sad my hour went by so quickly! As for my 2 other friends, who also received massages, they had nothing but good things to say about their masseuses, (Renee and Shilah, I think) as well. I don't really want to speak for them, but my overall impression from what they reported was that they thoroughly enjoyed their experience. Thank you so much! I took my daughter here to celebrate her graduation, and help her unwind from a stressful semester. The space is small, but clean and cozy with fabulous lake views! We had an hour and a half massage, and I cannot say enough positives about both of our ladies. I have been having some sciatica pain, and was able to get relief as well as instruction for helpful stretches. I do not have even one "helpful, but negative," critique! I was in town for my first snowboarding adventure and remembered last minute I had a spafinder gift card. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, even after I made my appointment last minute and then changed it even more last minute! They honored my spa finder gift card no problem and the Yelp check in offer as well (note: value is based off a Swedish massage). The actual facility is clean, calming, pretty, and has a great view of the lake. There is no locker room, so like other spas in this area, you just get ready in your room per your therapist. The therapist was great and worked on exactly what I told her needed some help. I've miraculously come away from my first snowboarding weekend NOT SORE! I booked an appointment at what I thought was the Galibakken Resort location (not knowing the main location was in Tahoe City). After waiting for a few mins without seeing anyone I called and found out I was at the wrong location. Oops! The front desk was so courteous and accommodating. They sent someone to Galibakken right away in under 10 mins. They didn't dock my massage time either which, to me, was worth the five stars alone. Not to mention my therapist Colleen did a hell of a job working out my knots which were way passed due for some tlc. I am so disappointed with the service that my boyfriend and I recieve today. I booked a 90 minutes couples massage for boyfriend and I on a special treat for his birthday and requested for a deep tissue massage. Now usually during a deep tissue massage there is some level of discomfort which is great, but we both felt like we were getting more of a rub down. I asked my lady to add more pressure twice but did not receive the adjustment. Both the women who worked on us were yawning pretty lound during the massage and felt that they were not ready for another 90 minute session as they had just finished a different couple prior to us. The business should definently consider the level of service and energy that there staff gives out because as a customer to request one thing and not recieve the service and leave the door paying almost $400 is very very disappointing! What a lovely day spa! Had a surgery on my foot and wasn't able to ski with the family. So instead booked myself for two hours of spa services at Lighthouse Spa. My surgery was very recent and I wanted to get some blood flowing, break down any scar tissue and to get some heat to the area to improve the range of movement. On Saturday I had a combination Hot Stone and Deep Tissue with Jamie. She was so thoughtful and helpful in thinking of ways to work with my foot. The massage was so awesome and my foot felt so good. So! I liked it so much I booked again the next day. Same thing. The staff was so good at listening to my needs and helping tailor a massage for me. On day two I had Alyssa. She was also so kind. My family and I were recently in Tahoe City on vacation, and a few of us decided to treat ourselves to a massage to help unwind and settle into the vacation mindset. Our experience at Lighthouse Spa exceeded every expectation. It was hands down the best massage I've ever had (and my family members said the same about theirs!). Our therapists, Tiffany and Jaime, listened well to our description of our trouble areas, and knew exactly how to counteract the pain and tension. We had 1-hour deep tissue massages, and left feeling completely relaxed and restored, with our neck/back pain wiped away. Booked a couples massage for my best friend and myself. My friend enjoyed her massage but mine was absolute agony. I have a high pain tolerance but I was constantly flinching and wishing for it to end. Over 24 hours later and my lower back is still in a lot of pain from the 'massage'. Another weird thing was they never had us fill out a release form, nothing official at all. Last disappointing part - the website said we would get chocolate truffles with our package. OMG! I can only give them 5 stars? What a wonderful experience. We were at a conference at the Resort at Squaw Creek and decided a massage would be the perfect beginning to a busy day. While the Resort has a nice spa, the prices are "resort" prices. A little research and a phone call uncovered Lighthouse. We booked a massage and one add on each. The spa is a little hard to find but it actually overlooks Lake Tahoe, Colleen and Monika were wonderful. I've had massages at least once a month and from spas all over the country. Monika is in my top three. Call and see if Monika is available. You won't be sorry. We're hoping this conference is back in Squaw Creek next year so we can return to Lighthouse Spa. read more

Lighthouse Spa = massage bliss! I was in Tahoe City for a weekend getaway with friends, but wasn't in the mood to hit the slopes, so I checked out this spa instead. Making the appointment was easy, and the receptionist was friendly when I arrived. She even offered me a cup of hot tea! The interior decorating was peaceful, calming and very clean. The whole operation seemed very professional and also caring. They have you fill out a short questionnaire before starting. I like that because it gives you a chance to reflect on any mussel or body issues the therapist should know about ahead of time. Leslie, the massage therapist, really worked with me & my back so that I left feeling taller and breathing much more easily. I really enjoyed my whole experience there and would like to go back again. Highly recommended. read more

About as good as it gets. Whenever we come up to Tahoe, I try to get myself in for a professional, relaxing massage. I've never requested a specific therapist, and have never been disappointed. The therapists here are top notch. This is not a "spa" - so if you're looking for saunas, steam, or even showers, you will not find that here, which I appreciate. This was the best massage of my entire life and it was only $40 or so for half an hour. I fell asleep for a few minutes and woke up with drool down the side of my mouth.. I was THAT relaxed. I want to go back to Tahoe just to go back to this day spa. It's tucked back behind the Safeway on the second floor overlooking the lake. Small but nice. This is the first massage I have ever had, so I don't know that I can qualify as a resource, but it was pretty darn good. I called at about 9 am to see if they could fit me and my mom in last minute. They scheduled us both for 11:30 appointments. We arrived and they took us right in. It wasn't until we were done that I realized that they called them in especially to handle our massages.
