My husband called and was able to get the price down just a tiny bit which we appreciated- def not at the price we came in at a couple months prior but better than the increase. Now we are dealing with a whole mice problem. Mice are coming in from the ceiling and crapping on all our things and tearing up our stuff. Another renter of the space a few down from us mentioned they are having issues with mice too. The mice and any other rodents are able to go from unit to unit bc of the openings and holes in the ceiling. We have no food in our unit but we don't know what the other units have in our row. There is No plan to fix the holes just have someone spray in a couple weeks. We had to spend $100 trying to buy our own stuff to rectify the problem and 7 hrs of time taking all our belongings out and cleaning up the droppings and going through all our things that were ruined, and trying to tape up the holes in the ceiling ourselves. We weren't offered any discount on the unit for the inconvenience this month or anything due to a problem of this nature which would have been appropriate until it is mice free at the very least. I'm not saying all the units are this way but we are certainly having this issue and are not the only ones. We've never had an outdoor unit before and so far we are not a fan. The only great thing is the size of our unit and how easily accessible our belongings are in this unit and we've had overall pleasant interactions with staff overall. We aren't asking for much-just to have a pest free location. We've included some pics below but we have many more unfortunately.

    This was about as piss poor experience as one could have…read more 1) Upon the initial renting of my space, I specifically inquired about and requested to add my dad as my authorized user. Months later when I needed him to have access, I was told he hadn't been added as my authorized user but instead, my emergency contact. 2) I went into the office to add my dad as my authorized user and setup a transfer. I was previously told that if I transferred, it would only be $1.00. While in the office, I explained to Nyisha that I wouldn't be there and needed that my dad would be transferring my items. She seemed a bit resistant to assisting us but warmed up after a few. When my dad returned the next day to move my stuff, he was told he couldn't take possession as there were forms I needed to complete. When I called Ms. Nyisha to inquire about this, I was then told I had to complete the transfer forms in person. In the entire 30 minutes I was there the day before, why on earth would she not have told me about the transfer form??:???? Per Ms. Nyisha, she didn't know I wouldn't be there, she just thought my dad was moving me. IF I WAS GOING TO BE THERE, WHY WOULD I GO THROUGH THE TROUBLE TO ENSURE HE WOULD HAVE FULL ACCESS THE NEXT DAY TO MOVE MY STUFF???????? 3) I then had to rent a new storage and was charged the full fee of $105 not the discounted transfer fee. When they say follow your first mind do so, I was taking my stuff out of there altogether but decided to just transfer because of the transfer discount. 4) Because Ms. Nyisha didn't do her job and then was MIA, I was charged more by the mover for the extended time he was there.

    This Hiram location use to have outstanding customer service. However, it has gone downhill and…read morethe policies and staff are not very helpful or customer friendly. I signed a contract with this place and they increased my units rates without proper or notice. They constantly threaten to auction your belongings. They also place a lock on top of your lock if you are 3 days late on getting the units paid. I recently had a family emergency or death of a mother to come back to a lock over my lock and auction threatened for being a little behind because of my situation even though contact was constant with them. I would not or will not do business with this company again.

    Compass came in this year after taking over the property from the previous owner. We haven't seen…read moremuch improvements except for keeping the property a little cleaner and kicking out the old vehicles parked on the property that were not mobile. The have had 2 rent increases in the past 6 months. We have our rent sent in via bill pay so they automatically receive our payment on time every month. In December they advised us of the 2nd rent increase. By the time we were notified of this it was too late to change the auto bill pay and we had to have a second check cut from our bank for the difference. We called Compass Self Storage in Hiram and advised them of this and that the balance will arrive on 01/06 (our payment is late on 01/07). They called us on the 7th and stated that they received our payment on the 7th and that they can not take partial payments so the first check nor the second check for the balance were processed and that they put a lock on our unit which will cost an additional $20 to remove. They would not listen to us and treated us as if we were poor tenants and they really didn't care if we stayed or moved out. Extremely rude customer service. We requested the home office number which she gave us and then asked when we were moving out. They also refused to prorate our rent if we moved out before the end of the month. Rat infested! Our unit is rat infested to the point where we have lost several hundred dollars worth of merchandise. Congratulations Compass. You have chased away a loyal customer who pays their bill on time. Alpha Omega Storage, here we come. Stay away from Compass Self Storage!
