I truly loved the way The Boardwalk Storage facility operates because you have one person, and only one person, that you work with at each location. As for me, I was very blessed to be able to work with Iesha Who has been in the storage industry for over 10 years. As I was making my initial rental over the Thanksgiving holiday, I have to give big-time kudos to Iesha Who was able to guide me even though her presence was not physically there. Of course, my moving truck arrived the day after Thanksgiving, but everything went off without a hitch and I have to give all the credit to Iesha. Great experience.

They advised the key had a lanyard/string around it. I was very perplexed by this because we have all keys that were issued to us and never have we had any keys with strings/lanyards around them. I went to the facility and thankfully nothing appeared missing. I called management and advised that my lock they issued must have been recycled because someone must have had a key and unlocked it. I asked if they would replace my lock with a new one. I also asked perhaps they were mistaken and it was a different storage room than mine that they found unlocked. The manager became defensive and said I was accusing her of being dishonest and that it is against their policy to recycle locks. She said she had a picture of my unit when she found it unlocked, and she knows it was mine unlocked. I asked if she could send me the picture and she said she no longer has it. I informed her that I am not accusing anyone of dishonesty, but rather that there must have been some mistake on their end- either they mistakenly identified the unlocked storage facility as mine or they mistakenly used the same lock on our unit so that a previous renter still has a key. The manager said they would not replace my lock and if I wanted to I could go buy another one and ended the call. Wow. I will be moving out of this storage facility. The mistake is on their end and instead of hearing me out, replacing the lock, they told me it was my fault and to deal with it. No thanks. I want a facility that is going to keep my stuff safe and then support me if there are issues.

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to pay a moving company and still do all the moving…read moreyourself, look no further than Wirks Moving Company. Before the move, I provided a detailed inventory list of everything that needed to be moved. Apparently, the crew interpreted it as a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book and selected only the items that sparked joy for them. The rest were left behind for us to discover later. We also paid them to place furniture and boxes in designated rooms. Instead, they introduced us to an exciting new game called "Where the Heck Did They Put It?" Every room contained random furniture, mystery boxes, and enough confusion to qualify as an escape room. Several items were damaged. Screws disappeared. Furniture arrived in pieces. At this point, I assume the missing hardware is being sold separately on eBay. The team leader deserves special recognition. I've never seen someone work so hard at avoiding work. There was plenty of time for smoke breaks, attitude, and excuses, but somehow not enough time to complete the job we hired them to do. When we pointed out the mountain of items they left behind, his response was: "You guys need to stop adding things." That would've been a solid defense if we had actually added anything. Unfortunately for him, we have the original inventory list. The items he accused us of "adding" were literally on the list from the beginning. It takes a special level of confidence to blame the customer for your own inability to read. The grand finale was when we had to rent a U-Haul and finish the move ourselves. Nothing boosts customer confidence quite like watching a professional moving company leave while you're headed to rent your own truck to complete the job they were already paid to do. To summarize: Damaged furniture Missing screws Missing items Furniture placed wherever the movers felt inspired Endless smoke breaks Attitude included at no extra charge Had to rent our own U-Haul Had to finish the move ourselves Honestly, calling this a moving company feels inaccurate. They did move some things. The rest of the experience was more of a scavenger hunt, obstacle course, and team-building exercise designed to strengthen our marriage through shared frustration. If your dream is to pay thousands of dollars to become your own moving company, Wirks is the perfect choice. I'd leave zero stars, but apparently, just like our belongings, some things are impossible to recover.

Cost: -They charge $150 an hour for 4 guys and a large truck. Our move from the city to Gwinnett took about 6-7 hrs. We paid about $1200 for our move. -They automatically charge 1 hour for transportation to and from their headquarters, so that will be added to the moving hours and does not include their actual drive time of your items to the new move-in location. This is pretty standard. (TIP: Make sure to avoid those places that want to know your inventory or the weight of your boxes. They pull bait and switch tactics and no one on earth knows their inventory or the weight of their items, so I specifically sought out a service with a flat hourly rate). -Overall, spending money on professional movers will be some of the best money that you will ever spend. Imagine the cost if you injure your back or the weeks of time versus hours that it will take to do this on your own or with your friends. -Make sure to budget for tipping your movers at least $20 each. These guys bust their butts more than anyone. Also, keep bottled water and snacks handy for them and make sure to bring toilet paper to the new location since they will need to use the restroom. Pros: -Our point of contact Jeff was super responsive and professional. -The guys that showed up got the job down and we tipped them all. They didn't slack off at all. -We have hardwood floors in the new place and we didn't want scratches. These guys are definite pros and they automatically wrap furniture, lay cardboard down on floors, and listen when you mark certain boxes and fragile. They knew what to do and we didn't feel the need at all to get involved in their process. -There were no broken items and not one scratch on the hardwoods or any smudges on the walls! That is impressive. Cons: -The only minor con that I observed is that the movers stopped to fill up for gas on our dime, once they were in transit with our items. Since we already paid for an hour of travel time, I expected their truck to be prefilled and ready to go before they showed up at our door. Unlike stopping for gas with a car, it takes a bit of time for truck to maneuver into a station and fill up and we paid for this time.

Jeff is very professional and thorough! He took the time to explain everything in detail to me and then went over it again when I had questions. He broke down the pricing, the driving and everything needed to make the appointment. He said I sounded pretty young based on my voice and gave me some advice about the move. It felt like I was speaking with my Dad, which is a really good thing for me! He went over the benefits of hiring them, such as performing routine background checks on all their employees, their employees are full-time - not contracted and they've been in business for 30 years. I didn't end up booking the appointment because a group of friends and family volunteered to help us move. But if I didn't have friends to help, I would totally book them today!
