We are thrilled with, and love, our new permanent lighting around the roof line of our house in Olivenhain. Every year we have paid about $700 to have Christmas lights hung up on our roof (two-story home). We have seen some houses around town with Halloween or Thanksgiving-colored lights, and some of our neighbors' houses have had year-round white lights, which I thought was so pretty. So, we thought it would be great to get year-round lights ourselves, so we can celebrate holidays year-round and change the light colors all of the time. We contacted Lighting Distinctions, they gave us a quote, and they were out to install the lights within the week. We are delighted with our new lights, which offer us infinite colors and designs. My husband and I each have the Gemstone app on our respective iPhones, and we can change the colors and light patterns instantly. We can choose a pattern where the lights will blink, chase around the roof line, fade in and out, etc. Or, we can create/design our own patterns and colors from a palate. When the Packers are playing, I put on their team colors to surprise my husband. We wish we had known about Lighting Distinctions six years ago when we installed regular Christmas lights. We became bored with the same lights after two or three years. Now, we have something fresh and new every night. We live in a high rise condo downtown and wanted quality lighting to highlight our many pictures throughout the unit. We also wanted lighting for the hallways and kitchen as well as all new outlets and switches throughout the unit. Joel and Stephanie came in and we agreed on some can lighting, track lighting, strip lighting and fixtures. Before work could be done, we had to go through the approval process with our HOA architectural committee. We had a couple of roadblocks during the approval process, but Joel worked with the structural engineer in getting them resolved. It was really frustrating for all of us, so we really appreciated Joel's efforts in getting the approval. Once the lighting came in, Joel's electricians came and installed them. I've been interested in getting outdoor lighting for a long time and finally called around for some quotes this summer. Lighting Distinctions was first on the list to schedule an appointment. Their recommendations looked great and had a great website. After I met Joel and Stephanie I knew I was not going to look any further. Their zeal and knowledge of our door lighting is second to none. I didn't have much experience with outdoor lighting or what it would cost. I explained that I had other pressing projects, but wanted to work in something that would fit my budget. This is where I knew I had the right company. From the start they were so eager to help me get something started and let me know that their main goal was to help me get the most functional set-up possible, based on my needs and budget. As soon as we started our walk through of the property, I could see their excitement and vision of what it could look like unfold. Afterwards, we set up a follow up appointment to go over the design they had worked on. They provided expert opinions and recommendations. I valued this so much. We put together a plan to were I could always add more lighting to the existing set up as my needs expand with future projects. I was impressed with how they were always thinking ahead! The biggest concern for me was that i did not want to break my set budget, however I also did not want cheaply made products that would not last. To my amazement the price and quality of the products they used exceeded my expectations. The installers did great job, you cannot see any wires. I ended up getting around 80+ lights and phone app that allows you to turn off and on anywhere in the world remotely from my cell phone. Our house looks like some high end resort-- at night anyhow. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I didn't get that feeling of confidence from them and/or their proposals were excessively pricey. Decided to get one more proposal and I'm so glad I did. From the beginning, Lighting Distinctions was impressive. Joel (owner) and Stephanie arrived at my property, and we discussed the project. They listened to what I was looking for and provided feedback and recommendations during the discussion. A few days later we met again in person to review the proposal and costs, rather than just sending via email. It was very helpful to go over the proposal and pricing to ensure we were in alignment. Since there were a few decisions to be made regarding color, intensity, and style of the lights, Joel had his installation team set-up a temporary demo of the numerous lightly options so I could see firsthand what they would look like when implemented at night at MY home (and not just pictures). I was able to choose the options that I wanted and know what it would look like in advance. This was a GAME CHANGER. This required a bit more time and effort from Lighting Distinctions but is a truly differentiating customer service attribute. They truly wanted me to be happy with the end results. Following selection of the color, intensity, and style of the lights, Stephanie ordered the products, and the installation was scheduled in a very timely manner. During the installation, the team reconfigured my landscape lighting infrastructure (splitting a single zone into separate front and backyard zones) and installed the new lighting in the front and back yard.
