I do not typically submit negative reviews on any business, however I would be remiss if I did not…read moresubmit a review based on my recent experience with Ronco Electric. According to their website they are "committed to 100% customer satisfaction and fast response times". In my experience they have provided none of these. I use Ronco to service my generator. Last week, a technician came to replace the battery and change the oil, and I trusted that the work had been completed properly. However, during the generator's weekly self-check, I noticed that it shut off after about 2 minutes. It normally runs for about five minutes, so I knew something was wrong. I called Ronco, but because it was the day before July 4th, the office was closed and my call was answered by an answering service. I explained the situation, provided my information, and was assured that someone would call me back soon. While waiting, we researched possible causes and learned that low oil pressure, resulting from insufficient oil, can cause the engine to shut down. My husband checked the unit's dipstick and found that the oil level was well below the required range. Because severe thunderstorms were forecast, I feared a power outage and did not want the generator to start and possibly damage an engine that was not being properly lubricated. We called the answering service again, explained the urgency, and noted that we have medical equipment that depends on electricity. I hoped Ronco would prioritize the call since its technician appeared to have created the problem. I did not expect Ronco to drop everything and come to my house immediately, but I did expect a return call with guidance on how to shut down the system or how to add oil myself. Ronco never called back. We called two more times--four calls in total--each time explaining the seriousness of the situation given the weather forecast. One agent said it could take 24 to 48 hours to hear back. So much for fast response. My husband finally called Generac, who explained how to shut the system down. Soon after, the power went out. We were without power for 36 hours. My plans to host the July 4th holiday had to be cancelled. I had a refrigerator full of food that I had prepared for the July 4th holiday that had to be thrown out at great expense. We also had no air conditioning as temperatures climbed to 100 degrees, creating additional health concerns for us as seniors. In short, we endured unnecessary hardship and expense that could have been avoided if the technician had done his job properly and checked the oil level after he replaced it, or if Ronco had simply returned our calls and helped resolve the issue by phone. On Monday morning, after power had been restored, Ronco called and said a technician was in the area replacing a battery for another customer and would stop by. The technician confirmed the oil was insufficient, he added oil. It took them 70 hours to respond to a problem they caused. I use the term respond loosely since his visit was only due to the fact that he just happened to be in the area. No one from the company ever apologized or offered any sort of compensation for the inconvenience and expense of food loss that they caused us.

While working on our house they took down fans put in outlets and wouldn't let us pay till the work was completed. We will use them again and again of course
