My wife Kathy and I had some time to kill, we were near Martinez so we decided to walk around downtown. As we were walking Kathy said that she noticed a light store as we drove into town. We weren't really shopping for lights but we did find Lights of Diablo and stopped in. Denise greeted us as we entered, I told her we were just looking, attracted like bugs to the lights. Lo and Behold! We both were intrigued by the same light. "That would look good in the dining room!" I asked Denise a couple of questions about the light that she couldn't answer right away so I gave her my number. She called a little while later to confirm that the light would work for our sloped ceiling. Later she texted that Mark could offer me the one hanging in the showroom for an excellent price. After the weekend I texted Denise that we would purchase the light. When we arrived on Tuesday Mark had it packed and ready to go, loaded it into my truck and off we went to install the light. Today my daughter and I walked around downtown Martinez and wondered into this light fixture showroom. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly gentleman who I believe was the owner. He and a lady were talking causally and shared a few things about the showroom and a few of the fixtures that we had questions about. He told us that most of the fixtures were half off the top price on the price tag. He also showed us a pop-up across the street and another little store we were interested in. After having a very informative conversation he told us that if we needed anything that they would be happy to help and gave us the hours of availability. Based on our experience today, not only would we revisit but we would also recommend giving them your business if you are looking for any kind of lighting unit. read more

Awhile back, I decided to change many of the fixtures in my Albany home. I got a little picky and ended up buying from a few sources, including Menard's in Spencer Iowa. I ended up with some nice pieces from Lights of Diablo that I didn't have to carry on an airplane. Store staff was helpful and came up with some nice practical solutions my various light "puzzles". I had a load of lights I needed to purchase and would have liked to give this small local store some of my business. Unfortunately when I went in there, every light I pointed out on the wall or in catalogs got an "oh...you don't want that," and in one case when I described something I was looking for a, "you won't find that for under $1000" from the owner. I left the store feeling frustrated, but still called later to get pricing on a couple of the lights I was interested in. Never got a return phone call. I can't understand all the hurdles and roadblocks from this light store. I'm more interested in solutions, so I moved on and found what I needed elsewhere. read more

This place is a joke. They have tons of lights, but the customer service is zero. Walked in on a referral and as another reviewer mentioned, lady at counter hardly acknowledged us. When we told her what we were looking for, she said "over on that wall" without offering any assistance. When I asked if there were more options, she said "we have thousands in books," as if this was an option that would take days and was beyond her energy, and offered no assistance, no offer to see the books, nothing. The bald guy, who I assume is the owner? then came in and asked if he could help. When I told him what fixtures I was looking for, he immediately went to a promo item. When that didn't work, and when he saw I wasn't an electrician, he basically gave up. When I asked to see more options in their "books," he copied 2 pages for me. I asked if there were more options to see, and I could see he was losing his patience. All I wanted was someone to spell out for me the different kind of fixtures, prices, options. They gave minimal effort. When another guy was waiting with a question, the guy left me and went to him without any sort of acknowledgement. When he saw I was still waiting, he said "are you waiting for something?" I said I had a few more questions, and he said he could do 2 things at once, then proceeded to go back to the other man. At that point, I got my friends and walked out. They did not acknowledge me when I left, or the business they lost. I just can't believe they can stay in business being selective with customers. When there's no effort to help a customer out in order to make a potentially big sale, then sayonara. read more

We had a problem with a chandelier that was damaged and they replaced it for us in a timely manner. Their return policy is extremely fair. We bought two lights for our bathroom vanity area. The store is relatively small but has a decent selection crammed into the store. The lady who helped us was quite patient and helpful. We did a special ortbut found that their prices were quite good and lower than Amazon and other websites. This was true even for replacement bulbs. I recommend this store. read more

Great lighting store! I walked in looking to find a match to a pendant lamp I already own. I was greeted by a guy eating a sandwich, and he asked if I had a picture of what I was looking for. I showed it to him, and he said "yep I have one of those up in the attic somewhere." He stopped eating and went up there, and in a few minutes came back down with it. It was a perfect match! I had been in lighting stores around the east bay recently looking for this lamp and noticing prices and his prices are very good. Turns out the guy was Mark, the owner. Very friendly guy. I highly recommend paying him a visit after you've been to other stores. You'll walk out buying something. read more

If you're like me and your lighting experience consists of 2 isles in Lowes or Home Depot, you may think the prices here are high. They are, in as much as a Mercedes costs more than a Kia, but once you examine the detail, or heft a fixture in your hand and feel the weight of the build quality it will all make sense. Like some other reviews, the customer service is terrible. I wasnt greeted when I walked in, the man behind the counter was helping another customer and never bothered to say a word to me. I waited several minutes, watched another customer walk in and out then I left also. As I was almost out the door he called out, "Ill be with you in a minute". Dont waste your time driving to Martinez and paying for parking. They only have one fan on display and most of the current lighting fixtures are not on display but shown through catalogs. read more

A great place to buy lighting! The owner, Mark, is very helpful and provides great feedback. We were going to buy some outdoor lights and he felt the size would be too large for what we wanted. To help us out (and prove himself right!) he allowed us to take a similar sized light home...we bought the smaller one. We've purchased several interior and exterior lights from this store.
