THE SET-UP AND THE FARE In fact, this is the first prong in my ritual walk: after I grab some peanuts in the shell, I get the hot dog (usually Seattle style with Cream Cheese or German style with Kraut), and walk to Capitol Park, and find on of my favorite park benches on the Southwest Quadrant of the park. And as I munch on my hot dog, I am approached by a surly group of squirrels, led by Chip & Dale, who look at my plaintively, eyeing the little pile of peanut shells on the bench next to me. I make a few teasing feints of peanut throws, but then follow through. It's amazing to watch the little tussles between the fluffy-tailed rodents - it's amazing to imagine squirrels WITHOUT tails and what handsome rats they would make. I also imagine how this scenario would be dramatically different if my pocket-Panthers JACK & BOBBY were there with me, watching these events. Would my cats think I lost it? Would they feel betrayed? Actually, I think they'd ridicule me because that's the kind of basterds my cats are (since these are the same two that disect mice, rats and birds in front of me as we go on our walks). THE LOWDOWN But I think I've wandered off the reservation and have gotten away from talking about DOGS. These are some good DOGS! YUMMM!

While all of this sounds unrelated to GameDay, I'm getting there. Back to the rant, because I had to get here so early, I expected there to be some type of breakfast -burritos, breakfast sandwiches, something! No, what we got was what you might find at a Super 8 continental breakfast. Fruit, coffee, bearclaws, Granola bars, etc. I'm hungry. Constantly snacking on chips, pastries, coffee, whatever I can get to hold myself over. After I compete, I'm starting to get hungry again. I've seen the truck parked behind our tent for awhile, but since I'm expecting a long day, I don't want to jump the gun and then be starving later. Eventually it's closer enough to lunch time that we get in line. I see a BBQ burger and a vegan burger. BBQ burger sounds good to me, so I order one. They ask me if I want chicken? I didn't know chicken was an option. Yeah why not. About 5 min later, they put a sign out showing that they also have fried chicken. This disappoints a few people in the crowd because they didn't know chicken was an option either. Anyways, along with the burger came fries, and you could choose the regular or garlic fries. The wait was probably at least 20 minutes long. It was a LONG wait. The crinkle cut fries blew us away, perfectly seasoned and crispy. The sandwich was huge and loaded with toppings and the boneless wings were much bigger portion than we were expecting and had the perfect ratio of sauce/breading/chicken. They were out of the traditional (bone-in) wings since they filled in last minute but I cannot wait to try those as well.

Unfortunately they were out of bone in wings, but no worries, bone less it is. My wife wanted the Kalbi short ribs basket. 8 minutes later our food was ready. Instead of getting the shirt rib basket I was given the short rib sandwich. I told him I ordered the basket and not the sandwich. Both gentlemen were very apologetic and told me to keep the sandwich on them and they would make a basket. A few minutes later the basket was ready. They threw on a few extra short ribs to apologize even more. The food was really good. The boneless wings were not over down, and the short ribs were outstanding. Through on top the great attitudes by the guys in the truck and you've got a 5 star truck. I look forward to trying some more food from them.
