While I was waiting for the food, I spoke with the staff and he seemed like a humble and hardworking person. There was a special for a free side if you ordered a sandwich. The Classic Philly was delicious and the meat was tender. The jalapeños gave it that extra kick! I'm not sure where the food truck normally frequents, but I would definitely try it again. Went to the location on K st and it was super dead in there. We ordered two philly sandwiches and a side of garlic fries. The worker asked us when we were filling our drink what kind of fries we wanted again, i responded garlic and she told the cook "yea it's garlic". We get home after we ordered for takeout and we got regular fries, bruh. The price difference is only a dollar but we told them twice and she clarified which ones we wanted and still got them wrong. They came to UC Davis Medical Center for the Friday food truck event. The line was quite long which was very telling of the quality of food. Though the line was long, it moved. I waited in line for no more than 20 minutes. The guy taking orders was very patient and friendly. He clarified the order and made sure to get my name right. I really appreciated that. I ordered the regular Philly cheesesteak with provolone and peppers and onions. I also ordered garlic fries. After placing my order it took about 10 minutes for them to call my name! Again, not bad given the line they had. The food was great! The garlic fries were my favorite. They had a nice buttery taste with a nice touch of garlic. The mix they had was impeccable. The garlic on the fries was not overpowering but it was just right. The Philly cheesesteak was also very good. It was well seasoned and full of flavor. It was great! The entire meal was about $15. I am from Philly, lived there 40 years, and I can tell you with all confidence, THIS IS NOT what a Philly cheesesteak tastes like. I don't understand the many reviews here saying that this place has "nailed the authentic Philly Cheesesteak experience; " it is NOTHING like a Philly Cheesesteak. Let's start with the roll. In Philly, we don't compress our roll on a greasy grill until it absorbs the "butter sauce," which is not even a thing. The roll at this place tasted like wet dense dough by the time this place abused it. Philadelphia uses Amoroso rolls, light and fluffy and never pressed like a panini. Secondly, there is no "sauce" of any kind in Philly. It's either Cheese Wiz or no Cheese Wiz, "Wit" or "Witout." Period. Philly does not chop its pickled peppers into the meat on the grill, because that would result in a vinegary, pickled-tasting meat. The first thing you notice about a Philly Cheesesteak is that you HEAR it on a hot sizzling grill... where the meat and onions will brown. This place puts cold meat on a lukewarm grill till the water runs out of it, and then puts the grey result on a bun. Not impressed by the hype. read more

This is THE singularly greatest philly cheesesteak I've ever tasted, I can't praise it enough. 1.) The quality of ingredients is unparalleled. The steak is the perfect texture, not chewy or fatty at ALL. All of the other ingredients are of equally excellent quality and I can't emphasize enough how much I love them for using raw jalapenos as opposed to pickled, it adds so much more to the sandwich in both texture and taste. Love the cheese selection, especially the pepper jack. 2.) The prices are obscenely reasonable! So affordable. A 7" with jalapeno and mushrooms for only $11, yes please! Other trucks and even brick-and-mortar restaurants cannot come anywhere close to the utter perfection that these sandwiches are. I don't order from food trucks anymore due to a host of food sensitivities. The "faster" food places aren't usually equipped for custom orders. But I'm stuck in jury duty, and there's nothing much around here that looks even slightly appetizing. Walking down towards a busier part of town I passed this truck. A glance at the menu showed they did offer a salad, that LOOKED like something I could eat, so I approached the window. I told him what I needed to avoid and Robert made it happen! They actually grilled everything fresh for me to cut out the cooking oil that would have hurt my guts, and cleaned the grill before putting the food on! I'm speechless! This is the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwich I have ever had. I traveled to Philadelphia in 2012 to eat a "real" cheesesteak and was not impressed. This Sacramento based business exceeded my expectations! The sandwich was greasy, full of flavor and satisfying without feeling like I ate too much. There are many options for individual sandwiches including a vegetarian option while I'm not sure if it is vegan. They also have salads and fries and other options.
