I Love food, great selection and convenient location. They are the nicest people working there and can accommodate outdoor seating. We get it to go.

This small local cheesesteak restaurant quickly became one of my go-to's and is now part of my…read moreregular food rotation. First off, the cheesesteaks are delicious. So far I've tried the supreme cheesesteak and the hot cheesesteak; both are really good and highly recommended. You can't go wrong with the top three, which I believe are the original, the hot, and the supreme. I think the highlight of these cheesesteaks is definitely the bread. It's soft but not too moist, providing the perfect texture. It's not hard at all, like a Banh Mi Vietnamese sandwich, but there is still a nice crust and crunch to the bread with a perfect taste. The pictures don't do it justice from the surface, but as you bite into it, they mix the melted cheese of your choice very well with the steak for a nice burst of flavor. Pair it with their amazing original French fries that remind me of some really good fast food fries, like from McDonald's or other local fry spots. The service is what you expect from a local small restaurant. They're nice, chill, and very simple. You order, and they call you when your order is done. They treat you well, especially if you ask for extra condiments such as mayo and ketchup, though ranch does cost extra. They serve it on a nice little metal tin platter with parchment paper, which makes it feel and taste great, especially when you eat it fresh inside the restaurant. To my surprise, the first few times we ordered from here, we got it to go, and it was still good by the time we brought it home. Regarding the size, I would say normally you can't go wrong with the standard size, which is the regular or the small. It is filling already. If you're extra hungry or just really feeling a cheesesteak, the large will definitely do you justice and make you feel satisfied. In my photos, I've attached pictures of the supreme and the hot cheesesteak. You can't go wrong with either, but my choice is definitely the hot. I've also tried their other items, such as the standard hot dog, which comes with the same bread. Based on other photos people have posted, it looks delicious as well. It is like a standard hot dog, but I'm telling you, the bread is something very unique about this restaurant. I think that's what makes you want to come back. The bread, plus the way they cook the cheesesteaks and everything put together, makes this place stand out. The vibe inside is very chill, serving more as a quick-eat area. It is a nice place to just get lunch or a quick dinner. It's pretty small, maybe fitting only 30 or so people, and they're located right next to the movie theater. I feel like this shop is a small hole-in-the-wall, and I highly recommend it. I don't think you would regret it.

The portion of…read moremeat was good for the size of the sandwich, but the "large" felt smaller than expected, especially since they only offer two size options. The meat itself was juicy and not dried out, which was a plus, but the cheese was pretty minimal--probably just about two slices total. I honestly wish they'd double or even triple the cheese to balance it out better. We also got a kids' chicken tender meal with fries and a drink, which was pretty standard and as expected.

You can sit counter side and eat or take to go . First impression, I see the wall and she has serviced alot of people well known ! I was impressed . Then I actually met her . Her vibe and energy was so sweet and chill . I enjoyed talking to her . And you can tell she really cares about her customers . That particular day she was giving out a free sample of something her son made . Yes ! She also has her two sons working with her such a beautiful thing . She offers a variety of soul food and seafood options as well as burgers and more ! The first time I had some of her food my man brought home shrimp and grits and they were good but this day we walked in ! I told her about trying her grits from home and I wanted them again . She asked do you want regular or gumbo ? I said surprise me ! Ofcourse she gave me the gumbo grits and let me tell you ! Phenomenal! Every time I took a bite I danced in my seat I kid you not ! The rou was just right , it had shrimp sausage and crab meat ! The shrimp were plump not over cooked ! And a nice fulfilling portion ! I also got the fried catfish with fries and a side of bacon . Fried just right and again seasoned well not salty at all . Nice thick pieces of fish . The Oreo cheesecake was amazing ! Made from scratch ! Also a lady had came in after me she asked what she should get , I told her about the sample I tried of the loaded chicken fries and she said yup I'm getting that ( pictured in my photos ) everything comes out hot !!! Soo appreciated because we know a lot of places have stuff sitting under a heat lamp or warm up something premade . Not with her . Everything hot ! It's just her and her sons . It's a small kitchen so expect a wait but like I always say I don't mind waiting because I know I'm getting fresh hot food cooked with love and that's exactly what she does . I'm definitely coming back to try more items as should you ! I know people including myself can be picky when it comes to soul food because it's really based on who made the soul food in your family and your preference . As being one of those people I was highly pleased and impressed with everything I ate ! She's also under bust down bbq on Yelp as well . Check her out if you want to try some food from the soul fareal !

I almost always check Yelp before trying a new restaurant, but I was out running errands nearby,…read moregot hungry, and decided to give this place a chance. The first thing I noticed was that there wasn't a single customer inside. For a restaurant located next to a busy Walmart Neighborhood Market, this should be a high-traffic location. That was my first red flag. When I walked in, the bell rang, and instead of greeting me, I heard the employee yell something from the back. He sounded irritated that someone had come in. After waiting a few minutes, he finally came out to take my order. If your restaurant has no customers, you'd think you'd be happy to see one. I ordered the fish and chips and a Cobb salad. The fries were actually good, but the fish looked and tasted like frozen fish sticks I could have made at home. It had no flavor or seasoning. Then came the Cobb salad. I order Cobb salads often because they're usually hard to mess up, but this was honestly the worst-looking Cobb salad I've ever been served. The "cheese" looked like sliced sandwich cheese, and the meat looked like chopped lunch meat instead of the traditional ingredients you'd expect in a Cobb salad. The only positive was that the lettuce was fresh. As a first-time customer, I left disappointed, and unfortunately, I won't be returning. I don't know if the owners read their Yelp reviews, but I genuinely hope they do. This business has a great location and the potential to attract a lot of customers. Better customer service and higher-quality food could make a huge difference. I truly hope they make improvements because I'd hate to see a small business in such a prime location struggle when the issues seem fixable.

I even have proof in black and white that I asked for it plain -- and proof doesn't lie. Then the guy tried claiming they don't even have an option for extra cheese... yet I paid $1.00 each for extra cheese. So clearly, that option exists. What makes it worse is the note I left wasn't even asking about the cheese issue -- I was talking about something completely different. If you're going to mess up an order, at least be honest about it instead of blaming the customer.

The restaurant sign is hard to miss, and they have a good amount of parking available. The inside is decked out in old memorabilia, posters, and racing signage and it has an old school feel. You can order to-go, like I did, at the counter or get a table and enjoy a seated experience. The people working here are friendly and when I let them know it was my first time they were happy to answer questions. I ended up ordering the Pepper Steak sandwich, the Italian Cold Cuts sandwich, a pepperoni pizza, and a side of mac salad. The pizza is a simple one, but had plenty of cheese and is perfect if you're craving it. The medium size they offer is perfect for sharing and could easily feed 2-3 people on its own. The pepper steak sandwich is one of the items they're known for and after taking a couple bites I could see why. The mixture of cooked meat, onion, and peppers along with the fresh bread, tomatoes and seasoning is so flavorful. The sauce soaks into the bread to make each bite delicious. The Italian Cold Cut was very unique. I had heard it's a favorite, but I didn't expect something as out of the ordinary. There's laters of meat and cheese on the bread l, and then there is a sweet pickle relish (like you'd put on a hotdog) and then plenty of chopped tomato and onion and sub sauce. The sweetness of the relish through me off, but works with the sandwich. Something interesting about both sandwiches is that they didn't have sandwich toppings like lettuce that wouldn't rewarm well. The chopped tomatoes and onion are great cold, but if you decide to reheat your sandwich they're still great. I don't know if this was the plan but it worked out well. The portion sizes on everything were also fair for the price, and the food was filling. I'm excited to visit again to explore more of the menu, including their meatball sub, pastrami, and cannoli.

So the food here should be fantastic. So what did we order. 1) Peppersteak sandwich: This is their signature sandwich. Chunks of tender seasoned beef with sautéed onions and green peppers topped with chopped tomatoes. it was a decent sandwich. 2) Roast Beef sandwich: slices of beef and requested pickles and lettuce. another decent sandwich Each sandwich cost almost $18 (including tax). Even though the sandwiches were decent, the meat filling didn't really fill the sandwich roll end to end. So the value is just ok. Personally, Corti Bros in East Sac is still the "go to" sandwich location in sac. But if you are in the citrus heights area, give this place a try. It appears family owned which is a plus.
