This park has a little of everything to entertain the kids. It has a ginormous water fountain where you can splash your face on a nice hot sunny day, or just sit down and enjoy the sound of running water. They also have bug land, where the kids can climb on top of giant caterpillars, lady bugs, and even a giant frog. The other climbing part of the park is the pirates ship area. They have a giant size boat the kids can climb on, and also some smaller boats to hide in. It's a great place to play hide-and-seek. The remodeled side of the park now includes a fun playground for the kids that took the place of the foam hills. The playground includes cool new features that are not at your old school parks. Lastly, this park also offers an aquatics and basketball club that you can join, or if you would like to rent the place for a party (non-pandemic) they also offer packages for groups. No BBQ grills available

Although the park is technically just across the street there's no crosswalk within a mile in either direction. It honestly feels like the City of Redlands isn't fully aware they have train service. The park itself is quite lovely and spacious, featuring a large rose garden, a children's play area, a gazebo (which requires a permit to use), several picnic spots, a horseshoe pit, and a skatepark. One picnic area has a functioning sink, but the others lack water access. While the landscaping is attractive, overall maintenance leaves much to be desired. There are remnants of old tennis courts in disrepair, and although the restrooms were clean and open, they're very outdated and likely don't meet current codes (cities don't have to comply with their own codes). Sidewalks are scarce, making this park difficult to navigate for anyone with mobility challenges. If you're planning a small gathering, keep your group under 25 people to avoid needing a permit. Seating is limited, so arriving early is a must. Also, be prepared to pack up and leave quickly if law enforcement hassles you. Parking is limited for a park of this size, which is why taking the train would be ideal--if it weren't for the unsafe street crossing, especially concerning if you have small children. Sylvan Park is technically a "resident park," not a "public park." This means its primary use is intended for Redlands residents, and non-resident use may be restricted or require additional permissions. For larger group events needing permits, you'll likely need liability insurance and guidance from a Redlands-based attorney is strongly advised.

This is my favorite park in Redlands for my morning walks. For those who haven't been here before,…read moreyes, there is a restroom in the middle of the park for your convenience. Plus, for dog owners, they always replenish and have trash bags to use so that you can pick up after your dog's poop. You will love talking a jog or walk in this park because the one mile circle around the park is all cemented. No worries about getting your shoes dirty. For families with kids, there are two play grounds for your children to enjoy too. This park is big enough if you want to hold your kid's birthday party too. Just be mindful that on the weekend, below where the park is situated is a shooting range and you will hear their customers practice shooting. I usually like coming earlier in the morning if you don't want to hear the gun shots. I love how you feel close to nature listening to all the birds that live in the trees at this park. If you get lucky, you will get a glimpse of bunnies and maybe squirrels. There are cemented picnic areas too and only two water fountains. Plus one grill area if you want to BBQ. Please be respectful and clean up after yourself when you are done so that others can enjoy the park as well. A few days ago, because of the strong winds, two trees fell down, but the park employees were on top and taped off the area to be removed. I hope that you enjoy your day at this park too.

There were plenty of activities for different ages, and it was nice being able to relax while knowing they were having fun in a safe environment. We were waiting for our hotel room to be ready. In the mean time, I had brought a picnic lunch for us to enjoy under the pine trees. So peaceful and serene. My daughter loved the swings and monkey bars. The only thing I didn't like were the portable potty. Would have been nice to have real restrooms. Great park though for picnics with your little ones.
