We found Little Tex just after we moved here. It has been our go to place for a good meal. They have daily menu. Never had a bad meal

Nope. Won't be going back. Food was ok. Nothing to write home about. But what got to me was sittinf down, waiting a good 5 minutes before a server came to take our drink order. She asked if we were ready to order, that's when I pointed out that we were never given menus. She got us ONE menu for a table of 3. We took turns . After we ordered, it took a half an hour to get our food. Our food was barely warm by the time it got to our table. The pancakes weren't even warm enough to melt the butter. Our sever disappeared, we never saw her again after food delivery. My husband had to go up to the hostess podium to ask for silverware. Bottom line, food is ok, service is horrible. read more

Very good food. At times it does get to be a little waiting but that is because their food is so good and they get packed with a limited staff. It is NOT a place to talk LEFTIST POLITICS and most customers are FOR Gun Ownership, Freedom of speech, and freedoms of many other things the LEFT seem to be against. The majority of the customers especially the regulars are Retired Military etc. Do not come there if yo are a HARD CORE LEFTIST and want to take people freedoms away as you will not be welcome. 35 min wait to get breakfast for 2 people. If the kitchens going to take that long to get breakfast out then maybe bring the biscuits out early? Bring something. Yes it's old and dated but it has the old school diner feel. Staff is overworked but very sweet. Food is decent. I can't complain. They do cater to an older crowd but that's alright. There's a reason the regulars come daily. It's cheap and good food that comes out quickly. Give it a shot but be patient as the whole industry is suffering right now with staffing. One of the VERY FEW left of the traditional Mom & Pop restaurants. We stopped in for breakfast after my wife's Dr. appointment and were pleasantly surprised to find "Normal people". No loud mouths, no political activists, just people. We had a great, very tasty breakfast of eggs and chicken fried steak, home fries, English muffins, and sweet tea plus coffee. Everything was awesome, very filling and the service was great as well. Not once, did I have to hunt for a waitress, because she was on the job the entire time. It has been a very long time since we experienced such a pleasant meal. If you are ever in Copperas Cove, Tx. or even in the surrounding towns, give this place a try. read more

I haven't enjoyed food here since the mid 90's, but my mom and stepdad kept raving about the schnitzel, so I gave in and tried it. Now, I admit to being spoiled when it comes to German food since my husband is German and his aunt makes the best German food ever. This schnitzel, however, was completely inedible. It was tough as old boots and tasted similar, I'm sure. I asked for a baked potato and was glad to have it since I didn't have meat to eat. I cut into it and noticed it seemed a bit hard. I wasn't too worried, because I could have just microwaved it to cook it the way I like it. However, when I cut it in half the inside was not only hard, but black. I really wish I would have thought to take a picture of the whole meal, but I was so disgusted by it that I threw it all in the trash. I won't ever eat there again. read more

First time coming to this pretty big restaurant. They have about 3-4 separate dining rooms (if I can remember) so they have a bunch of servers on shift. My family decided to sit in the far back and was worried we're not gonna be noticed but we were wrong. We got attention from a server 2 mins prior to getting there and she had brought us water with lemons as well as coffee and orange juice. Our server was very friendly & very efficient. We came around 11:30AM and she had let us know that we could order breakfast or lunch. Food: I had ordered their cinnamon French toast that comes with butter & your choice of bacon or sausage. I got sausage and my mother in law ordered the same but with bacon. My father in law ordered their scrambled egg, corned beef hash & Texas toast plate. Overall the food was very tasty and the portions were very friendly as well. Overall experience: we had a very good experience here at Lil Tex because the service was remarkable and our bill was only $20. Amazing. Good service, good food. Came in for dinner and breakfast. Came to Texas to visit my father. Asked him where to eat in Copperas Cove and the first thing he said was Lil Tex, hands down. First day I avoided the place because of the exterior looks, the next day I found out that looks can be deceiving. Sure the plates are tired and chipped but who doesn't have chipped plates at home. Sure the place dates back about 25 yrs. or so, but who's grandma's kitchen doesn't look like that. Now to the food. Had biscuits and gravy for breakfast, large helping, gravy ,thick and nice chunks of sausage, mmmm! And o by the way, a side of bacon not facon. Dinner I got the sausage and brisket entree. I'm a big guy and I couldn't finish it all! Heard one yelper complained about the old people in the restaurant that really bothers me. You will be old one day I can guarantee that. Matter fact I can use my mental powers to predict that. The food here is very inexpensive and yes this isn't a health food restaurant, vegan yelpers need not apply. The Waitresses are super friendly , they know all the regulars names by heart, family owned and operated is my understanding. I reserved one star because, yes the place does need a little updating new seating maybe some new decor. But that does not take away from its charm or its value-priced food. Food: 3 Stars- The food tasted pretty good. Very similar to an IHOP just with a more "homey" flavor. Enjoyable for sure, but not impressive. About what you would think, but worth the price. Service: 4 Stars- Quality service. Very nice waiter who was kind and very attentive. The food did take just a tad long, but nothing to get worked up about. Price: 5 Stars- 4 people ate here for under $30. Full stomachs and full wallets always get a high rating from me. Food wasn't amazing, but for the price certainly good. I didn't taste the "cheap". Cleanliness: 4 Stars- Very clean. If there was a mess it was mainly from the other customers. We were the youngest dinners by 20 years, and many of the other customers weren't the cleanest. But the staff did their best to make up for it and were quick to clean up. Atmosphere: 2- The place was "meh" inside. I guess you could consider it southern, but as stated before, the customer demographic didn't help and kind of made us feel uncomfortable. More of a "look at the new guy" vibe. Love love love this restaurant! Very local and authentic. I came to visit my grandparents and we decided to have breakfast here today. I ordered the Denver omelette with light cheese and I could NOT stop eating. It was so delightful and very filling. The restaurant was very busy with many people bringing family and friends to eat breakfast after Halloween. A very tight knit community, haha it was very funny to see everyone turn heads and look at me who was the only person with black hair and brown eyes. My grandfather is white but I seemed to have not picked up any of his genetics and everyone dining in was of American descent, so they seemed really surprised to see a little mixed asian girl coming into town. read more

Went here again because it's one of the only breakfast places in town. The last 3 times we have been here the service is awful and the food is mediocre at best. If there are more than 4 tables seated they will apologize and say they are busy meanwhile the servers are avoiding coustomers behind the server station. I left a comment almost a year ago now, praising Lil Tex for being like going to a good friends house that also is a good cook. I now, sadly think it is no longer the same place. The last few times of going there was disappointing at best. Service was almost nonexistent. The little service there was, was rude and made my daughter and myself feel like unwanted intruders. The food has also gone down hill in a hurry. Very bland and mediocre are the nicest words I have for the food. I don't know why or what changed but it did, for the worst.
