This was a great lunch stop for us with the family while in Myrtle Beach. They have a terrific early bird menu that was super reasonable. Everything was delicious. My scallops and my husband's lobster were so flavorful and fresh. We were able to feed 10 people for under $250 including a generous tip! I thought that was very reasonable. We had four to go cartons of leftovers too. Our chef was so entertaining and wow'ed the kids aging from 4-13 so you know it was good. My Philadelphia Roll sushi was so yummy. Me and my friend are locals and eat here a lot!! We went there around 6 o'clock on a weekday , nobody was waiting to be seated. There may have been 4 hibachi tables full and was told there would be a two hour wait for hibachi!! The girls up front aren't very good doing the seating and has caused this place to lose people and money!! I will no longer return there because this isn't the first time this has happened. I will not be dining here again. I went with my boyfriend because we had a 15% off coupon. We ordered 5 sushi rolls and are used to them all coming out together. Well, we got two of the rolls and were disappointed with the amount of fish in the rolls. There was hardly any fish! Now, if I'm paying $12-$13 dollars for a specialty roll, I want my money's worth in fish, not cucumber. When we told the manager, he told the sushi chef, "this is not my table but they don't like these" then we never heard from him again. After eating our other rolls (which were also minimally stuffed), we asked about the rolls again and apparently no one was remaking them. The manager did not update us or apologize, he wasn't very accommodating. We also got a Beautiful Roll with shrimp tempura (this was the only roll that was nice and big), but the shrimp wasn't cleaned. I posted a picture of it. Gross. Favorite Hibachi Place! I first came here on a first date and loved it so much I returned for a birthday celebration. The employees are very nice and accommodating, they were socially distancing during the first time I went so my date and I had our own table. The second time, they seemed to be more relax as only two chairs separated us from others diners but were very sweet when I asked to be seated a bit further away due to worry of covid for my elderly parents (even though they weren't making a fuss for my birthday). Their mixed drinks are great, not watered down. The food is amazing! Great portion sizes for the price. I had enough left overs for two more meals! The chefs are very skilled in their work and truly make it a fun experience! The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Horrible customer service. Stay away! Disappointing because the food is good. We advised them of allergies and ordered an appetizer without the sauce because of the allergy and it came out (after our actual meals btw) with the sauce on it. So we sent it back and they said it would take 20 minutes to get our replacement so we said forget it. Then the drink was ordered with cranberry juice and it tasted bad. We didn't drink it and told the server twice that we didn't want it. When we got the bill it was on the bill and when we told the manager to take it off he argued with us and wouldn't take it off even though it was bad and not drunken. And they add 18% mandatory gratuity. I told the manager that I wouldn't pay that because the service was so bad. He argued even more. Horrible. Stay away. read more

I had high hopes for this place after reading rave reviews. Had a long drive coming from North Carolina and booked 8:30. Unfortunately got a bit lost on the highway and got there late, about 10 min to closing time. The hostess could have said "I am sorry the kitchen is closed" or "we can serve some drinks if you like". Instead she waved us off and said "we are closed!!!" Quite visibly unhappy to see us, of course why shouldn't she? We are only there to enrich the experience and help the restaurant make money. Today all booths were full and we didn't want hibachi but asked could we sit at a hibachi table anyway (considering only two tables were being occupied and there wasn't any other place to sit for a party of four). We were told no so we turned to leave and they changed their mind. The early bird that two in our party ordered came with soup and salad according to the menu and the waitress said they could only get one even when we showed her the menu. I ordered soup and a house salad and the bowls they were served in were the same size. This was my meal. One week prior I ordered the same thing and my salad was three times this size. I'm a regular at Lil Tokyo although they may not realize it. I work in the mall and regularly come in for their lunch special. Pros: Drinks are usually very good. The mai tais and shark punch are my personal favorite. The sushi is good for the price you pay. Cons: The staff can lack charm at times. I've come in and been ignored for over 10 minutes. I usually have the same server, she is not very friendly. I once found a fly in my drink and when I told her about it she said nothing and took the glass away. I've worked in customer service for years and I expected an "Oh, I'm sorry. Let me get you a new one on the house." She ended up making me another drink but this one was made horribly and was an entirely different color than the original and didn't get any fruit in it and I was still charged. The sushi can be inconsistent at times. Some days the portions are much smaller or the rolls won't be rolled as tightly. The hibachi is tasty but boring. They do the onion volcano but there is no flinging of shrimp or corny jokes. That's literally my favorite part of the entire experience. All in all it's not a bad place to try and hopefully you will have a lovely time. read more

The chef was very entertaining, my kids were laughing and having so much fun. They all loved catching rice balls in their mouths. The food was awesome, I had the NY strip which was very tasty, especially with a little yum yum sauce. I thought the price was very reasonable. The filet was good but overcooked and the scallops had ZERO FLAVOR!!! My son and husband didn't enjoy their meals either. My son loves sushi and he barely ate any of his two rolls. We were so impressed, we went back again before our vacation ended. This place is filled with positive vibes, awesome cooks(who are incredible entertainers by the way), and delicious food!!! The first time we dined there, we had Tu. He was personable and professional and made our time there a pleasure. The second time around we were taken care of by Maria. She refreshed our drinks and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the entire meal. She was extremely charming and charismatic, and we delighted in talking with her about her travels to the U.S. and her experiences while living and working here. Our cook this time was Jose`. He was superb!!! Talk about energy and a sense of humor! I totally recommend him. He had us engaged right on through to the very end. I would like to say that the food was incredible, and very reasonably priced. We ordered off of the "lunch special" menu--I think, and my family of 4 all had the chicken and shrimp hibachi, and it came with a soup and a salad with a choice of a ginger or a yum yum sauce. I would recommend the yum yum sauce. It is very tasty! This was one of those lucky chance restaurant picks that had the most positive outcome. It's been a very long time since I have been to Lil Tokyo. I have to say I am beyond disappointed. From beginning to end was absolutely terrible for me and my fiancée. The soup tasted like dish soap, the salad tasted old, and our entrees were cold. There was nothing good about the meals we had at this restaurant. I was appalled that nothing was offered to fix this issue when I mentioned the issue to my waitress. Definitely a huge disappointment. Thankfully word to mouth spreads fast. read more

Others came in and sat before us and then she acted like she didn't recognize or remember us. So we were last to be seated and it's like they wanted to make us wait and eventually get us to leave on our own. BUT we had an amazing waiter. He was a young, black guy who kept us hopeful. He was funny and worked hard!! You could tell none of the other staff wanted to give him a hand. You can also tell that he was not familiar with waiting the hibachi area but he persevered. My flight landed around noontime. I was starved because of a light breakfast. I was in the mood for sushi and tried this place. I called and it was open on a Sunday. I sat at the sushi bar. Very nice ambiance. I wanted to try one of the fancy rolls. To my surprise the majority had tempura or was fried. To many fried selections for me. I went straight for the sushi deluxe, which was fresh and very good. I also ordered unagi sushi, which was very good. Next time I'll ask to make me a custom roll with no fried pieces. My family of 8 had the best hibachi style food and service that we have ever had. The waitress was fast Yet extremely efficient. She made us feel welcome and treated my 2 grandsons like the real customers they are. The chief was great with my grandsons, and called them by name and gave extra special attention to them. I was one of the very first customers. Sushi is always fresh and the Chef is more then happy to make something off menu. Habachi Show is the BEST of all. The chef has lots of fire for the kids haha which also brings out the kid in me. (haha!!) This was also where I chose to make my proposal to a woman that means the world to me. read more
