Dr. G agreed to extract…read moreall four of my wisdom teeth for which he said he was supposed to sedate me but when I got there he was totally unable to even get an IV into me properly so he just decided to do it anyway with absolutely NO SEDATION period. I had never had my teeth pulled before so I had no idea how horrid of a choice that was on his part. So he was only able to pull one of the teeth and then he got to the second bottom right wisdom tooth and couldn't pull it out normally at which point HE SHOULD HAVE ENDED THE PROCEDURE, but instead he decided to start cutting into my bottom right wisdom tooth while I'm still totally 100% awake and he is using nothing but local anesthesia, long story short it took him 3.5 hours to extract 2 wisdom teeth total! It took me multiple weeks and a ton of pain and PTSD related symptoms from being put through such a horrendous experience. The so called 'medical assistants' that he has working for him could not or would not pay attention and do their jobs well enough to keep all the blood from running down my throat and onto the front of my shirt, my husband was HORRIFIED when he saw the state I was in after they were done hacking at my mouth for 3.5 hours regardless of how many times I begged them to please stop yet he refused to do so. I am writing this review so that potential patients know the risk they will be taking if they choose to use this dental practice in any capacity. I can only speak to my personally terrifying experience and God only knows I WISH I were making this up bc it really should never have happened to me and I hope it never happens to anyone else. Unfortunately, it is the result of ongoing issues with the back-office billing process under the current office management. Due to repeated billing negligence, I was forced to pay over $600 out of pocket, ultimately including payment to a collection agency for charges that should have been properly handled and reconciled by the office. Today, when I contacted the office to have my account reviewed after resolving the collection, I was placed on hold for over an hour without resolution. After nearly two decades of loyalty, this level of billing mismanagement and lack of responsiveness is unacceptable. Patients should not bear financial consequences due to administrative errors, nor should they have to expend excessive time attempting to correct them. As a result, I will be transitioning myself and my family to a dental practice that demonstrates greater accountability and appreciation for its patients.

When I got there, they said we're not doing that today. We're just doing a consultation! A consultation for any questions you may have. Just a consultation just for your questions. Got it. but on the way out, she said, "no this was an exam!" and it wasn't just my questions. He put tools in my mouth and poked around. That does not sound like a consultation to me. That is an exam. I I kind of felt assaulted. Over and above all that... the doctor asked if I had depression because I started to get a little upset. I said yes. he said, "is it diagnosed". I said, "yes, I have bipolar and I have severe degenerative disc disease and he was asking about my depression and anxiety, if the cannabis helps and if that's why I'm taking it, for the anxiety. he had questions about why I'm taking my legally prescribed cannabis. Then he said that they could not sedate me that I would have to go somewhere else. That's fine. But he said that he would not be able to manage me and I need the sedation so I need to go somewhere else!. I said, "what do you mean you can't MANAGE ME?!" he said, "yes I would not be able to manage you and your mental problems!!" can you believe that shit?! I'm about to call the Americans with Disabilities Association!! In the beginning, he wouldn't even let me ask questions. He kept acting like I should just be quiet and let him talk. She was able to effectively find and treat a problem in one of my molars. My review has more to do with the office policies and the staff. So, I went for my first appointment and I was very happy, then I was referred to an endodontist and he was also very professional. I was scheduled with Gwinnett Family Dentistry (GFD) for a second appointment to finally get a crown in my molar, so they call me (GFD) and schedule my appointment, very nice lady, never mentioned any of their policies regarding changes or cancellations. On a Thursday, i receive a confirmation call from GFD and again, the nice lady never mentioned any of their policies or how long the procedure will take. So I confirm that I'm attending to my appointment, thinking that the procedure will take about an hour like in my first appointment, but what do I know??.. I'm just the patient who's never ever had a crown treatment before. So I call the day of my appointment, which was Monday, around 7:30-ish... I get Ingrid on the phone and I ask her how long is the treatment going to take? and she says "2 hours", and obviously I had no idea of the length because I was never informed. So I panic and I tell her that I can't make it because of work, I didn't know it would take 2 hours, and I have to reschedule..... I understand that I'm calling at the last minute, BUT.. Aren't they (GFD) supposed to inform you of these details before your actual appointment?? Anyways, she tells me there is a cancellation fee, and I tell her that I'm NOT cancelling, I'm rescheduling because I was not informed that the procedure would take that long. So she insists that is the same because is in the same day, less than 48 hours before my appointment. I get very upset, and I tell her that if they charge me a cancellation fee I will go to another dentists, obviously Ingrid doesn't care. She tell me that the administrator will be at their office the next day and she will call me... After a few minutes I call back and ask Ingrid how much the cancellation fee is?.... And her answer????.... " I don't know, the admin will call you tomorrow"... that never happened.... A week after, I receive a bill from them, it's only for $15, the original amount was $50 but after some credit they made I only "have" to pay $15, NOT my point... So my problem is..... Ingrid, works in that office, SHE tells me about the cancellation fee, but she doesn't know the amount.... So, how am I supposed to know about their policies if they never ever EVER mentioned them to me, the policies are not in their website and I was never informed by any of their staff, not when I scheduled my appointment and not when the nice lady called me to confirm my appointment.... But I have to know them????? Can someone please tell me what is the logic here????

On top of that, they said I'd need a deep cleaning that would cost $300 after insurance, even though I've never paid for cleanings with my current coverage. To top it off, the dentist informed me that after all those crowns, she would need to whiten my teeth -- it honestly felt like I was sitting through a sales pitch, not a dental exam. I left the office in tears, overwhelmed and scared. Thankfully, I went for a second opinion at a reputable dentist and was told I have zero cavities and only need one crown for an old filling, which my insurance would cover.
