I would give this place ZERO STARS if I could, in fact negative a billion. Dr. G agreed to extract all four of my wisdom teeth for which he said he was supposed to sedate me but when I got there he was totally unable to even get an IV into me properly so he just decided to do it anyway with absolutely NO SEDATION period. I had never had my teeth pulled before so I had no idea how horrid of a choice that was on his part. So he was only able to pull one of the teeth and then he got to the second bottom right wisdom tooth and couldn't pull it out normally at which point HE SHOULD HAVE ENDED THE PROCEDURE, but instead he decided to start cutting into my bottom right wisdom tooth while I'm still totally 100% awake and he is using nothing but local anesthesia, long story short it took him 3.5 hours to extract 2 wisdom teeth total! It took me multiple weeks and a ton of pain and PTSD related symptoms from being put through such a horrendous experience. The so called 'medical assistants' that he has working for him could not or would not pay attention and do their jobs well enough to keep all the blood from running down my throat and onto the front of my shirt, my husband was HORRIFIED when he saw the state I was in after they were done hacking at my mouth for 3.5 hours regardless of how many times I begged them to please stop yet he refused to do so. I am writing this review so that potential patients know the risk they will be taking if they choose to use this dental practice in any capacity. I can only speak to my personally terrifying experience and God only knows I WISH I were making this up bc it really should never have happened to me and I hope it never happens to anyone else. I've been coming to Gangwisch (now Killian Dental) for a few years on and off after originally getting hooked in with the first time group-on deal. Even without dental insurance they are very competitive price-wise and it can be hard to find a good dentist. They also have a lot of very nice, competent people including the main dentist Richard Gangwisch. I've usually had regular check ups, x-rays, and cleanings here but I've also had some fillings done. I can't complain about the service and customer treatment. The chairs are also comfortable and the office seems pretty up-to-date technologically speaking. They have nice screens you can watch TV on while you are getting work done. All of this makes the scheduling and appointment issues more surprising. Both my wife and I have now scheduled appointments, shown up, and been told they don't have any appointment on file. In my case I was fortunate that they were able to accommodate me still but for my wife it didn't work out and it's a fairly long ways away for us. It's just too risky for this to not be a sure thing (especially if you're taking time off work). Maybe it's just a fluke that others haven't experienced but it's a concerning issue and one that unfortunately outweighs the positives of this place to me. Otherwise could be a 4 or even 5 star place. read more

Well after reading the most recent review from a less than satisfied patient, I felt it was necessary to give my absolute glowing review for Dr. G and his staff. I have been a patient of his for over 30 years and I have never left his office feeling anything other than completely satisfied that he and his staff gave their all to make certain that I was comfortable in every way possible. The ladies in his office, from the front desk to the exam rooms, have always been pleasant, highly competent, accommodating and kind. Dr. G also treated both my children from the time they started going to the dentist until well into their adult years and there are no complaints there either. The Dr. G that I know would never continue with a procedure if he knew that I was the least bit uncomfortable or in the slightest bit of pain. I was actually in his office today and since I was having a minor procedure I ELECTED not to be numbed up. He and his assistant both asked me a couple of times if I was sure about my decision and then assured me throughout that if I changed my mind they would numb it up. It was a piece of cake. I did just fine and walked out of there with a smile on my face just like every other visit. You would be hard pressed to find a more caring dentist with a staff to match! read more

I've been going to this office for 2-3 years and I had to practically tell the hygienist to get a x-ray and get a dr to tell me why I was having discomfort. I was told to keep an eye on the tooth. Then when I questioned I was given a referral. The dr himself didn't want to talk to me. Ended up I had to see 3 specialist and found out my tooth was broke at the root, with bone lost, and infection and it had been there for while, now I need implant, also had 2 cavities under crows, never caught by the hygienists or drs. This is pretty sorry. I would never refer this crack jack office to anyone. read more

Went there last year with my daughter. They made two scheduling mistakes then scrambled around to make it work on the second time. The dental staff is excellent and would recommend. The front desk seems to struggle with scheduling and billing, however. They accepted my insurance and billed me for the remainder which I paid (they are expensive) the same day. I started getting notices about approximately $100 in addition to what was paid and last night they called me. They want their money and dedicate substantial time to get it. When I was there I saw several angry customers complaining about billing. I would give them 5 stars for the actual dental aspect but the front staff bring it down to a 3 star. I have received wonderful customer service from the time I set up an appointment here as a first time customer. The receptionist scheduled me in the following month. When I arrived at the office I filled out paperwork and was seen within 10 minutes. The hygienist was knowledgeable and friendly. I told her about possible cavities on my molars and after a look declared that it was just sensitivity. The cleaning took no more than an hour and they sent me off. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Also, you can watch tv while you are laying back. Another plus! :D read more

Used a Groupon here for a checkup and X-rays. The staff was friendly, efficient and polite. The dentist was great and didn't try to dishonestly tell me I needed work done. He said my teeth were perfect and that was it. Unfortunately it's OTP and I don't live that far out anymore or I would definitely return. read more

I got a groupon for a normal teeth cleaning at Gangwisch Dental and for the price I paid and the service I received, i was very happy. Alexa was the one that cleaned my teeth that day and she was very nice. Not very conversational but it's probably hard to talk to me while I had sharp tools in my mouth and such. lol. But overall, the service was nice and efficent, the goodybag I received at the end was nice as well. I would recommend them. My fiancé and I bought a groupon and somehow bought too many. We used the first groupon and it was very professional, nice, and clean. They were so friendly my fiancé and I made another appointment for a cleaning, wanted to get his fillings done, and I was going to get invisiline. Didn't really care if we used the unused groupon or not. However..... When my fiancé called to ask if we could use the amount the groupon was purchased for, they said yes. We made an appointment and they called the day before the appointment to say the person who did the invisiline called in sick. So we rescheduled. No problem. My fiancé rescheduled for another appointment for us at 8 am. We called as we were arriving to say we were less than five minutes away, so a couple minutes late. They said I missed my appointment because it was at 730. Even though my fiancé called to confirm the day before that it was at 8am. That's fine. I was a little late. Understandable. The part where I'm very disappointed in is and see why they need to be on groupon is their service. Some are very nice and friendly, and the others give them a bad name. They are pricey, just like another patron mentioned on yelp. But if they were friendly, they would keep loyal customers. My fiancé continued to get a cleaning because he was not late for his appointment. His appointment was scheduled after mine. I fell asleep in the car waiting for him. They informed him to have me come in because there was an opening, so I came in as he was paying. He told them about his groupon and they were very unhappy giving us an attitude and talking down to us. They told us to take it up with groupon and said they never heard of this before. We were fine but asked why did they say it was ok over the phone if it wasn't. Because we don't mind paying. Just that they should honor it, if they told us they would. They were giving us an attitude, I didn't want to deal with, so I asked to pay and leave. When later they found the note in our paperwork that approved our groupon. They tried to apologize afterwards, but they were very unprofessional in their mannerisms beforehand. I feel bad for the other people who work hard, know what they are doing, and are friendly. Didn't even use my groupon amount even though we could because I wanted to leave there so bad. Very rude! And would never come back, or want others too as well. We would have been loyal customers. Great experience! Purchased a groupon for xrays, cleaning and consultation, best part was Donna, hygienist, who delivered super customer service. You cant beat the southern hospitality for sure! Def will come back :) * update : after the consultation I was given a treatment plan option which I totatlly understand and asked for a discount considering their prices are high compare to the market in the area only to be told that to give discounts on such treatment which consisted in a crown and 3 fillings - a discount would be illegal she said. I have called 3 dentists in the area and inquired about prices and they are cheaper per treatment with at least $400 ( i am talking about a crown) .. Lady on the phone told me the doctors are board certified which is awesome, good for them but in a market where you have 17 businesses surrounding yours what makes you more special for me to choose your services when you advertise a groupon for the past month and a half. I had an emergency with an Maryland bridge and problems finding a dentist in the Atlanta area that even knew how to fix them. I am getting married soon and my tooth had fallen out after 15 years and needed re-cementing. I found Gangwisch Dental through a google search and saw that they advertised their ability to fix them. I forgot when I had scheduled my appointment and arrived when they opened at 9am on a Monday. My appointment was not until 1pm! It was very busy and they could not have been nicer. They asked me to come back at 10:30 and they would try to squeeze me in early. I ran a few errands and came back at 10:30. They immediately brought me in and Dr. Hulsey got to work. He was exceptional, as were the assistants. I could not have been happier with the job he did. Those type of bridges are not easy to deal with and you just look awful without a front tooth. He understood that and expertly cleaned and re-cemented my tooth, positioning it with great care. I was very impressed with everyone there and very satisfied with the work they have done. They even gave me a great first time customer discount! As I said, I am getting married soon and plan on getting my teeth cleaned beforehand. Even though it is a little out of my way, I plan to drive a little further knowing I can trust the quality of their work. I strongly recommend them to anyone. read more

Today was my first visit. I had a very loose tooth that was giving me a lot of pain. Most of the other dentists were not open on Fridays or the 9nes that were never called back. He was the worst dentist I ever been to in my life. I am a diabetic and he pulled a tooth and he did not give me a prescription for pain or antibiotic. The next day it got infected and I had to go back to him with a swollen face and that is when he gave me a prescription for pain and antibiotic. My wife told me to not go to him, but I was in so much pain, and I was not thinking. I will never go back to that dentist. He also charged too much. read more

This was my third visit to see Donna for my cleaning. She is very friendly and very thorough. I really enjoy my visit with her. However I can't help but feel like I am going back to the 1980's when I walk thru the door. From the dirty entry carpet, peeling paint, old musty smell. Makes me not completely comfortable thinking the dentistry is also 1980. I definitely don't want to say this to hurt anyone's business or livelihood. Paint and carpet and removal of old trophies that have nothing to do with Dentistry. It is in my opinion very inexpensive considering it can be made back in a short period. The staff I'm sure would look forward to coming to work if the appearance was cheerful. Yes I do still recommend the office to others but always preface it with be prepared for going to Grandmas to get your teeth cleaned.!! read more
