The service is friendly and respectful, and the portions are adequate. The sushi and takoyaki are very good. My hubby also ordered an appetizer whose name I can't remember. It was rolled in a super thin strips of cucumber. Refreshing! The only negative was the big non-Asian worker who passed us by a couple times reeking of cigarette smoke. Tried Lili Sushi for the first time with a takeout order and was genuinely impressed. Everything was packaged carefully and ready exactly at the quoted time, which I really appreciated. The miso soup stood out. It was very flavorful with a generous amount of seaweed and tofu. The crab rangoon was perfectly crispy, and both the Chicago roll and spicy tuna roll were fresh and well made. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the portion of ginger and wasabi. For some odd reason, a lot of sushi places are closed around 2 pm... I was late for lunch but early for dinner but luckily Lili Sushi was open. For an appetizer, I ordered the Crab Rangoons and Fried Calamari. The calamari was perfectly cooked and bite cleanly. No chewiness at all All the rolls I ordered for lunch were fresh and tasted amazing. The service was top notch and the food arrived fairly quickly. The location is fairly small but there were plenty of tables to go around. When I arrived around 2, there was no one else in the restaurant but I was never ignored. Rated a 4 instead of 5 because we had a bit of a wait at pick up. Ordered online from their site, selected ASAP for the pick up time and was told 10-20 minutes for our order to be ready. We arrived a little after the 20 minute mark but our order was not ready for another 30. Staff was apologetic and I did see later that I received an email that went to my spam folder re estimating the longer time period. I have to say that the order I had delivered from Lili sushi takes the birthday cake in terms of worst sushi meal I've had so far in the Western Chicago suburbs. The quickest way for me to paint a picture is that my daughter threw up (twice after eating the unagi/cucumber role and my wife immediately spit out the hamachi appetizer. Please don't worry, it was touch and go for a while, but everyone is fine now. I think we did a good job ordering a wide selection of items to see which stood out: -Hamachi dice chilis -gyoza -sushi deluxe (with spicy tuna roll) -shrimp tempura roll -unagi/cucumber roll -spicy scallop roll -tonkatsu ramen Basically everything that had fish in it, I cannot in good conscious, recommend. Besides a couple of pieces, most was either chewy, off colored, or fishy. Unfortunately, the only picture I have to share is of the now infamous hamachi. The fact it looked thin, chewy and the color of un-baked pottery should have been a sign, but I put on a brave birthday face and ate more than one piece, and my poor digestive system is paying the price. My daughter and I were on our way to one of our regular ramen spots when I decided to see what other places were nearby. A quick glance at ratings and the menu and we knew we had to try Lili. It is a very cute space and we were immediately welcomed with a big smile. There are a lot of sushi options, which you can watch being prepared at the sushi bar up front. My daughter and I both got pork tonkutsu, but she omitted the egg, sesame seeds, and seaweed. I had a small Sapporo and my daughter had the strawberry ramune. Lili Sushi dazzles with its plating and offers excellent appetizers. The standout signature sushi roll we had was the Chicago Bears Roll, which seems to be well represented in the other reviews. We were a little disappointed with two of the other rolls we ordered, but overall, it was a satisfying meal. While it shouldn't be the case at a sushi restaurant, we enjoyed the appetizers the most. I don't necessarily mean that as a critique about the rolls. Rather, I'd like to highlight how excellent the appetizers are. We ordered the Agedashi Tofu and the Tuna Tartare. I found the plating for the Agedashi Tofu to be a pleasant surprise, as the tofu wasn't placed atop the broth. Instead, the tofu was arrayed around the broth in the center so that you could control how much you wanted in each bite. The Tuna Tartare was similarly excellent. The tuna was absolutely delicious, and the crisps added a nice textual contrast. The Chicago Bears Roll (tuna, salmon, avocado) was quite good. However, we found that the two other rolls we ordered, the Eel Tango Roll and the Godzilla Roll, were overpowered by the sauce drizzled on the roll. Aside from the food, the service was good, and the prices are reasonable. There was, however, a slight draft in the restaurant that made for a slightly less enjoyable experience. Overall, I think Lili Sushi is a solid choice with some tasty offerings, and the presentation will certainly impress. read more

During this pandemic time, I have been missing Japanese foods in Japan. That does make me a little more harsher about Japanese foods in the area and tend to underestimate them before even trying. Today, I was impressed with this tiny sushi restaurant in the corner of a little plaza in the area. Our order: Guava juice Peach tea Lili monster (sushi rolls) Smoke salmon nigiri Miso pork ramen bowl Lunch combo w tuna poke bowls Both drinks were good! Gentle flavors helps clearing our pallets between different foods. Lili monster sushi rolls - 4 stars Shrimp tempura, crab rolls and avocado are in it. Tasted good! A little big piece, so it was a little hard to put one in my mouth. But when I did, my empty stomach started dancing. I liked the gently balanced flavors, which complemented the main ingredients, fish. Smoke Salmon - 4 stars Rice was so soft and nicely flavored. I thought it has a proper sushi rice. Salmon was a little chewy, but still fresh. Smoky flavor was faint first but it gets stronger after your bite. Again, I did enjoy the fish itself. It definitely made me want to try different nigiri items. Miso pork ramen bowl - 4.5 stars I thought this ramen bowl was the best one I tried this year. Just a little too much sesame oil, but the soup temperature and the miso flavor were great! Noodle was very easy to slurp, pork chasiu was so juicy. Seaweed was fresh, and egg was cooked perfectly with still runny yolk. Except for ramen focused restaurants in north, this bowl will be desirable from now on! Tuna poke bowl - 5 stars I loved it. Spicy level was perfect for me! Tuna was fresh and tender, which reminds me of a poke in Kona Hawaii. I loved the texture and the flavor of the rice. Cucumbers with chili oil was a great touch to balance as a whole. This was the meal of the day for me, and I would try their vegetarian poke too! To sum up, I would say they might use a little too much sesame oil for our orders, but all of foods we ate here were easily over 4 stars. I would like to give them 5 stars!
