It's so hard to find good old Chinese food. I just can't get enough of this place. All the basic Chinese items are delicious. Our favorite is the dynamite shrimp and any of the fried rices, especially the Malaysian one. I also love their Mongolian beef, we get it every time. We tried to get something non-basic like some eggplant dish and it wasn't very good. Service is fast and the restaurant ambiance is really nice. They have a back room that can seat like 20 people. We used it for my brother's birthday. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

This is hands down the best Chinese food I've had in the area. The Malaysian steak fried rice was absolutely huge and delicious. The steak was tender and peppery and the rice had this delicious buttery flavor. I also got egg rolls and gyoza which were perfectly cooked and fresh. Will be ordering here again soon!

Amazing gem in Roselle. The menu has many choices including gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, lactose free, and for us carnivores. Drink menu has sake, handcrafted beer, wines, cocktails, bottled beer, teasing, bubble teas and more. We started with egg rolls and pancake scallion bites. They provide four sauces! My favorite is the chili oil, but there is also ginger, Wasabi and sweet sauce. All made in house. Entrees were sesame peanut noodles and Mongolian beef. So good. The seafood options look great. Ramen and small plates too. Leave room for dessert, bubble waffles, machine, sesame balls and cake of the day. Supurb.

Great food and service. The garlic shrimp were so delicious. The popcorn chicken app was great! The chow fun beef gravy dish was so so good. Everything was fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back. Great service too. Very attentive and kind.

Came here for a quick dinner and I can tell they lowered the quantities on my 2 favorite dishes. Quality- same quality which is good. The food is still delicious. Quantity- the fish is about 2/3 the size of the one I got last month. It was a bit upsetting since the price is the same. Atmosphere- good, no change Service- good, no change

Had such a taste for real Chinese food and this made me so happy! We used to go to Silver Lake restaurant and now they lived to this location, sharing the same parking lot. The space is brighter and more modern. Boba and some other dishes were added (ie ramen) but we will always go for the traditional! Great service with kind people. Food was terrific - we'll be back again... and again.

I heard a lot about how this restaurant is a rebranding of Silver Lake Chinese food. They did have w a Silver Lake menu and one of the staffers said it's a rebranding of Silver Lake, so I guess it's true. It's significantly more upscale than Silver Lake but the people are just as nice. Personally, I think the food is better. I was happy my husband suggested we try it. I love the updated decor. Very chic. If you liked the old Silver Lake, this is a sure bet.

Decided to check out this spot with some friends. Overall location is nice and traffic isn't crazy. By reading the reviews I assumed the earlier the better. We went around 4:00 and there was maybe one other couple in there. Could mean good or bad but reviews are high so I assumed just not a popular time. Got served right away with waters and asking if we wanted anything else to drink. Got a couple minutes to look over the menu and decided to order. Dynamite Shrimp- 5/10, they weren't giving that spicy mayo or any spice really. The texture was throwing me off because there was a crunch but then again a lot of sauce. Shrimp Fried Rice- 9/10, little on the fry side but with some soy sauce it was perfect. The shrimp were very tiny which was good and they were cooked well. Liked the fried egg in it as well I think there was more than usual. Mongolian Combo- (medium spice) 7/10, there were some good flavors there within the chicken, shrimp and beef which is what is included in the combo. Overall vegetables were cooked really well and sauce was nice. I feel like all of them were just missing something to make it pop really. Came with white rice which tasted like your good white rice 10/10. Garden Seasonal vegetables combo- (medium spice) 8/10, a little better than the mongolian had more of that flavor we were looking for. Vegetables were cooked very good and the little corn was amazing and just everything went well together. White rice also came with and was good Kungpao combo-(very spicy), 9/10, didn't try this one myself personally because it had peanuts in it but heard good things. The spice really made the dish better and the chicken, beef and shrimp all made it work. The vegetables in your usual kungpao all went well and seasoning was good. White rice 10/10. Horchata bubble tea-6/10 the horchata flavor was good i'd say a little watered down but the tapioca was throwing me off just not the usual i get. Nothing wrong with the actual bar though. Ver cute spot for pictures as well. Are kind of pricey so recommend going in groups so you can share portions because group of four went and we still had leftovers after sharing!

We were in the area and had a craving for ramen. This one was less then a half of a mile from an event we were working, so of course we were going to try this place out. We used the Yelp wait list feature but the person who met us at the door did not know what we were talking about. He seated us and we just cancelled the wait list. (There was no wait at all which was nice) The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated. A great place to meet a friend for a meal! They have lots of different food items but my husband and I both ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen for dinner. My husband ordered a Diet Coke. It was served in a can with a side glass of ice. My husband really prefers fountain drinks because you normally get free refills. The cost was $1.50 which is not too bad but we will remember this for next time. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea and the cost was $2.85. There are free refills (I made sure I had one) it tasted great and was not bitter at all. The ramen was a good size and the presentation was beautiful, I loved the nori on one side of the bowl, this is by far the best looking ramen we have ever ordered however the flavor was very bland. I am not saying this in a negative manner because It is perfect for someone who is on a low sodium diet or someone who has issues with food additives. You can tell they use fresh ingredients. Yes, I could have requested some sriracha but it was not horrible just not as flavorful as we were expecting so I did not. About half way through eating the broth you could taste a light pleasant ginger taste in the broth. I liked it but my husband didn't. I am hoping we will be back, but next time we will try something else on the menu. We were too full for dessert but the pictures on the front door of the ice cream in the waffle cones looks so yummy! I am sure I could persuade my husband to come back for dessert. If so I will post another review!

Both the service and quality of food has gone way down from what they were famous for. The waitress spilled my tea, also dipped her finger in my tea, had no apology or offer to exchange it with a fresh cup. I had to ask her for a fresh cup of tea. Then the other server that brought our entrees spilled my husbands tea and again no offering to getting a fresh cup. We had to ask AGAIN for a fresh cup! While the portions were generous, the quality of all the food has gone way down. The special family recipe of thier shrimp dish Gan Pong is nothing but fried shrimp with dried chili peppers and no flavor. The Hunan spicy beef and chicken appeared to be all globs and sticky because of excessive and over use of corn starch used during the cooking process. This dish didn't have any unique flavor that one would expect. Previously we had experienced a difference in the food, taste and quality and that's what kept us returning. Sadly, after this experience I wouldn't recommend it to anyone or come back! I'd rather stick with Yu's Mandarin than drive to this place! Quality always wins over quantity in my books!

It took a little while for a server to come see us though. They staff the kitchen plentifully but it sees as though they may be short on servers. We ordered appetizers chicken sticks and calamari and both were excellent. For entires, we ordered orange chicken, lemon chicken, the rainbow lo mein, kung pao chicken, and then sweet and sour chicken. The food is so very good. Probably the best Americanized Chinese food we've ever had. Especially the kung pao. One thing to watch out for is the tip is added to your bill automatically. We did call afterwards when we realized this and the restaurant accommodated us appropriately. We were pleased. Regardless, I would very much recommend this place.

Turns out, the only thing that got better was my ability to ignore red flags. The food can be good--sometimes even genuinely tasty--but it's like playing culinary roulette. The same dish never tastes the same twice. It often feels like they just grab whatever ingredients are lying around, toss in some meat, and hope for the best. If you like consistency, you'll find yourself missing other restaurants while you're still sitting in this one. The service is a mood swing. A couple of servers are warm and hospitable, and I appreciate them. But others are rushed, cold, and oddly entitled about tips. I've had the bill slapped down while I'm mid-bite and plates whisked away before I'm done eating. I absolutely believe in tipping well for good service--but dropping food, not refilling drinks, barely checking in, and then hovering for a big tip isn't service; it's pressure with a fake smile. And then there's the rice. I never thought I'd have serious feelings about rice bowls, but here we are. They serve rice in tiny, kid-sized bowls like it's some rare limited-edition collectible. You're expected to stretch that little scoop across a full entrée. For what they charge, it sends a pretty clear message: generosity is not part of the business model. The final straw--and the reason I'm writing this--was my last visit. Shortly after eating there, I ended up with nasty stomach issues and two days of terrible diarrhea. I can't see what happens in the kitchen, but I can connect timing. Once I lose trust in a restaurant's hygiene, it's over. I've only given that "never again" label to one other place in my life. Yu's just earned the second spot. If you're reading this before going, imagine your future self looking back and saying, "Why did I ignore that review?" There are plenty of places where the food is consistent, the staff doesn't rush you or guilt-trip you for tips, rice isn't treated like gold, and you don't spend the next 48 hours regretting your decision. After five years of giving Yu's Mandarin chance after chance, I'm done. If you value your money, time, and stomach, you might want to skip the experiment altogether.

We usually come here when the cravings hit or to celebrate family occasions. The prices are very reasonable and generally under $30 per person. We were last here about a week ago and it was $28 per adult, while kids were $14 (half-priced). I did notice prices increased by about $1 over the past year, but that's expected. Another thing I really appreciate is how easy it is to dine here. We've come on a Saturday night for dinner without a reservation and were able to walk right in. Most of the time, walk-ins aren't an issue, which is really nice. A while back, they used to have you mark hotpot ingredients on a paper menu and staff would bring them to your table. Over the past couple of years, they've switched to an ingredient bar at the back of the restaurant where you can grab your own noodles, vegetables, seafood, and sauces. There are empty plates, bowls, and saucers available, making it easy to customize your spread. The only items you still need to order verbally are the hot pot meats, which makes the overall experience much more efficient and you can get to cooking quickly! Here's my favorite way to make a dipping sauce for hotpot: garlic + basic soy sauce / house sauce, a pinch of spice sauce + top with a lot of green onions cuttings. And there you have it! The ingredient selection is decent including several types of noodles like udon, glass noodles, and ramen. They have my favorite vegetables like watercress and bok choy as well as some of my favorites proteins: shrimp, mussels, quail eggs, fish cakes, cubes and balls. There is a peanut sauce available at the sauce bar, but I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone with food allergies or strict dietary restrictions, as cross-contamination could easily happen with the shared setup. One of our favorite appetizer items -- which is free with the AYCE and not at the ingredient bar -- is the fried buns with condensed milk. They're listed on the menu and are absolutely delicious. We usually order multiple rounds as our kids love them, and so do I. When it comes to drinks, everything is ordered à la carte. They offer soft drinks, alcohol, and smoothies. I ordered a mango and pineapple smoothie for $7, which was quite sizable and very refreshing. You can also order a single-fruit smoothie for $6. For broth options, there are only two choices: a bone broth or a spicy broth. If you have kids, I recommend the non-spicy option. The broth can get a little fatty after cooking all the ingredients in it and is enough for flavor. We came as a family of 6 and opted not to squeeze into one booth. We asked to sit at 2 adjacent hybrid booth tables and requested an additional hot pot for the 2nd table, and they were very accommodating. One of the servers also speaks Cantonese, which was very helpful for our family. One small piece of feedback for the owners: for places like this, it would be great to have disposable gloves available at the ingredient bar. I always appreciate seeing that extra level of consideration for cleanliness. Lastly, just a heads-up that gratuity is automatically added to the check for parties of two or more. Make sure to review your bill before adding an extra tip -- unless, of course, you want to tip more. Overall, this is one of our family's favorite places for hot pot when we want a no-fuss, no-cleanup meal. It's a solid experience that doesn't break the bank, especially for large families. The fact that they focus solely on hot pot -- without additional barbecue meats or grills -- helps keep it surprisingly affordable. The restaurant is also connected to a Mexican bar so your receipt is gonna ring out with that place as a vendor and this restaurant is next to "Noodle Delight" (likely same owners?) if you're looking for authentic Chinese food in a more traditional setting. We've been to that place as well and it was great, but that would be another separate review :)
