Excellent food, excellent service. We have ordered from Jin28 for many years and it's always fantastic.

I was disappointed with my recent experience because it doesn't seem like the restaurant looks at the special requests when I place my order online. I've repeatedly asked that they don't include so much rice in the chicken rice soup since it ends up more like wet chicken and rice, and yet they continue to do it. The flavor was pretty bad this time around anyway, so I will not be ordering it again. Strangely enough, the egg drop soup, which I do not normally care for, was quite good. So the quality varies, I guess. Speaking of quality, the vegetable eggrolls were over-cooked and dry, but the shrimp eggroll, which was part of a lunch order, was good. I also tried the fried rice for the first time and was not impressed at all. It looked like Panda Express fried rice, except Panda Express is better. Usually Chinese fried rice is much better than any chain. As for the main dishes, the sesame chicken and teriyaki chicken were good, but the broccoli chicken was just so-so. In the photos online it has a brown sauce, but it came with a white sauce. I'm not sure if that has to do with my special instructions asking to put garlic in it or not, though. I also asked in my special instructions not to provide utensils or any sauce but sweet and sour but they threw in hot mustard, soy sauce, and utensils anyway. So I still don't know if they can see the special instructions or just choose to ignore them. In any case, I will probably still order here occasionally since the location is convenient, but I'm not as thrilled with the food as I was in the past. That being said, they do pack the containers as full as possible which I appreciate as not all places do. read more

A casual restaurant serving Chinese,Thai and Japanese meals including sushi, vegetarian and vegan options. Went for a Saturday lunch and was delighted they offer lunchean specials. Available from 11am-3pm you get soup of the day along with an egg roll,entree and rice. Super affordable! We started with a Philly Roll which was delicious. Sushi is made fresh and they offer many many options. The presentation was very nice! My wife had the Beef and Broccoli gluten free which was not available on the lunch menu but it was big enough to share. Served piping hot,the flavor was amazing. I had the Chicken Lo Mein lunch special with an egg roll and Egg Drop soup. No rice since it came with noodles. Portion was enough to bring some home. With locations in Arlington Heights, Naperville and Highwood,this is definitely a place to try. I can't wait to go back ! read more

I enjoyed coming here for lunch while in the Carol Stream area because they not only serve Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine but they also have a gluten free section on their menu. The interior is clean, bright and they have both tables and booths. Lunch specials are a good value and come with sides such as soup and eggroll or salad and Crab Rangoon . Our food came out piping hot and with a delicious aroma. Service may seem a bit slow but everything is made fresh so relax and enjoy. read more

This is my favorite Asian restaurant in Carol Steam because of their tasty dishes and extensive menu. The sushi rolls are the biggest surprise. I'm usually suspicious when a place offer more than one type of Asian cuisine, but Jin 28 somehow pulls it off. Egg drop soup $4 - Simple egg drop, no frill, I can't find one better. Eel and cucumber roll $8 - If you're not really here for sushi, but still want some eel, this is the perfect appetizer to satisfy that craving. Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp $17 - It's really hard to go wrong with this dish, not healthy, but addictive. The 3 pieces of broccoli helps ease the guilt. Lo mein $15 - They no longer carry yakisoba, but this is a good substitute. Noodles were delicious. If ordering a veggie one, it comes with peapod, carrots, celery, broccoli, baby corn, mushrooms, and cabbage. Other dishes I've tried: Vegetable Tempura - Broccoli and sweet potatoes Orange Chicken - Small - Good sauce and chicken is breaded and fried Yu Shan Broccoli - Delicious sauce, fresh vegetables. Pan Fried Noodles - Crispy pan fried noodles with savory sauce and vegetables. Hongsue Tofu $14 - Tons of tofu, accompanied by variety of veggies, and yummy brown sauce. Never knew they have this place here in carol stream. This restauranr is great. They have great choices of dish in their menu. And food was very tasty. Let me start with the service which was terrific. If you go here you don't have to worry about anyone needing to check in on you. Now for the food.... Bubble tea was great strawberry mango without boba I'll take any day of the week. Egg drop and wonton noodle soup was fire! Crab Rangoon and the wings great touch. Sushi (sake and Philly role) not so hot. The meal would've been better if I didn't choose this option. Personally I don't think this place is known for there sushi so that's on me. Ive had way better sushi in the burbs. Still give this place a high rating because you can enjoy other foods here and it will be a good experience. This is the best place for gluten free orange chicken! Sooo yummy it's hard to believe it is gluten free.

Food was delivered fresh and hot. No alcohol here. Breading on Shrimp dishes very thick.

We love Jin28, it's our go to Chinese restaurant. When we first moved to Glendale Heights 40 years ago there wasn't any good Chinese Restaurants, we would always have to travel further to get go food. Now that Jin28 is in the area it's the only place we get our favorite Chinese food. Food is always good, hot and the service is great. Half of us chose poorly! If you want curry, that was the clear winner! The sesame chicken was crispy and served over a bed of broccoli. (1/2 broccoli 1/2 sesame chicken). The moo shu was seasoned a little too heavily as you could smell and taste the sesame oil. The combo fried rice was sub par and won't be ordered next time. I was looking for something tasty and inexpensive, but also in a nice comfortable setting and Jin 28 filled that need perfectly. While it's not the cheapest pan-Asian food out there, they more than make up for it with very generous portions (easily enough to pack home for another meal) especially with the meat and seafood offered. For a nice full service sit-in restaurant, that offers Chinese, Japanese, and Thai I would actually put this on the cheaper end since their highest end dishes with flank steak and seafood are really only at the $15-$17 range while the majority of the menu is under $15 an entree. When I go to Jin 28, I am looking for something a bit more Americanized -- but flavorful and I got exactly what I expected. The pot stickers were very crispy and flavorful, which I like more than comparable options at Big Bowl, Wow Bao, and PF Changs. The Crispy Orange Beef came with an aggressively sweet and citrusy sauce that was a little on the thicker side while the batter managed to stay slightly crispy and keep the flank steak from overcooking with a good bit of wok hay caused by slightly searing the sauce. The Phoenix and Dragon was a nice mix of two classic favorites, a General Tso's Chicken which wasn't too spicy and addictively crispy, and the shrimp with mixed vegetables had the classic chop suey flavor with a good amount of large shrimp. The honey walnut shrimp had an unusually sweet sauce which actually went great with the fried shrimp - similarly addictive to the lemon shrimp at Lao Sze Chuan and the same dish at Noodles Delight. The lettuce actually helped to tie the sweet element and fatty element together to keep it from feeling too sweet or too creamy. There was so much shrimp in this dish that I was able to easily split it into two lunches after 3 people had a good share of it for dinner. Overall, Jin 28 fills the need for good value pan-Asian cuisine in a nice comfortable setting. There's plenty of space to accommodate large groups and no one will leave hungry. read more

Ordered a small combination lo mein. Had 2 shrimp mostly chicken and a few pieces of steak. ALL UNSEASONED! Calling me about a 50 cent up-charge for hot chili oil. Calling back to say no thanks and the number is from beyond menu so no answer . And charging for some hot oil thats NOT HOT! CRAZY! I really enjoy their food at Jin28. They hosted two large events for our family and they've been able to accommodate all of our guests in the restaurant. The food has consistently been great on both times I've visited. The staff are very friendly and patient when hosting big groups. I highly recommend them! read more

Food wasn't great. Not very flavorful and just kinda greasy. The egg rolls I got were oily and bland. The hot and sour soup was vinegary and lacked the strong umami flavor a good hot and sour soup needs. The lo main wasn't much better. It was oily and not very umami. Everything kinda just tasted like Chinese 5 spice. It's good if you haven't had good Chinese food. Still worth a try! read more

My husband and I came to Jin 28 with a friend to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated right away. We had the potstickers for an appetizer. The filling was good, but they were a little too crispy, perhaps from being fried too long. For entrées, we ordered the honey walnut shrimp, orange beef, and the Phoenix and Dragon (a combination of general Tso's chicken and shrimp and vegetables). All of the dishes were very good and were on the sweet side. The honey walnut shrimp is of my favorites. The combination of the sweet honey and mayonnaise sauce with pecans goes so well together. The orange beef was fried very well, and I could smell the fresh orange and tangerine from halfway across the table. This is becoming another favorite. The server apologized in advance for the long cooking time, but the food was served faster than we expected. Overall, Jin 28 is a great restaurant for Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Ate in at Jin yesterday for a late lunch. The service wasnt great, we were never asked if we wanted a beverage. Water was served, so we stuck with that! When we finished our water it was not replenished, and we weren't asked if we would like more. The meals came out one by one. I told a family member who was waiting a few minutes before touching their food to start eating so they're meal didnt get cold, and half they're plate was gone before mine came to the table. Its was really odd! One of the food items that kept us coming back were the egg rolls. The egg rolls used to have a slight peanut butter taste to them, and did not taste as they used too, we had a total of 6 at the table, and we all noticed saying the same thing. Our entrees were okay, whereas Jin 28 used to have the best food around. I'm not sure if they have new ownership or what's changed but, my favorite go to for asian is no longer Jin 28. The more I try the specialty sushi, the more disappointed I am. Today the "Magic" and "Diablo" maki disappointed - bland and not remotely spicy. Last time, though I ordered the "Large Chicken Tom Yum Goong for 2" which was tasty, spicy with tender chicken. I might stop ordering sushi here and go thai only. read more

First time ordering from Jin 28. We recently moved to Wheaton and were looking for a restaurant that could be our Go-To for Chinese food. Jin 28 hit all of our important criteria. I was happy to see that they offer their lunch specials on Saturdays also. This gave me a chance to try their egg drop soup, egg roll, fried rice and entree. I am not a very adventurous eater so I went with my standard sweet and sour chicken. Here is how our order worked out: 1. egg drop soup - good. Lots of shredded egg. Not salty at all, which is good. 2. egg roll - Delicious! Nice and crispy 3. fried rice - Delicious, also. 4. Sweet and sour chicken - Delicious. I liked that the chicken pieces were lightly coated in the sweet and sour sauce. They were not drowning in the sweet and sour sauce. ever 5. Chicken on a stick appetizer - My son declared it the best he has ever had. He said the order was huge and seemed like it included an entire chicken!. LOL. I had Pad see ew and it was pretty good. I came with friends and family (group of 3 adults and 2 kids). No complaints about the food here. 3 stars because food was ok and service needs some work. Only one table was occupied when we got there. Service took some time. I understand Covid and all but my point is if I had a business and had any difficulties behind the scenes I would at least communicate with my patrons who come to spend money at my restaurant. It felt like we were bothering them when we first got there, like wtf... No greeting, smile or anything. Next time in the area, I'll probably spend my money somewhere where appreciated. read more

Still one of our favorites after many carry-out orders. Looking forward to a time where we can try them in-person. We had the Singapore BBQ Beef, the Beef Teriyaki, the Edamame and the Pot Stickers. They were all delicious. The edamame was a generous portion which resulted in leftovers. The BBQ beef on a stick came with 4 sticks of tender, flavorful beef. The teriyaki chicken were also large, thin cuts of beef with a savory teriyaki, but not drowning in sauce. Hits all around. read more
