We were exploring the neighborhood and came upon Lillies right around dinner time on Tuesday. We walked right in and were seated. We started off with the happy hour wine and an order of the bruschetta. Really enjoyed the flavors! For my main I selected the shrimp florentine - which boasted fat shrimp and a creamy pesto sauce. Very good! The space is intimate, dimly lit and outdoor seating is available.

    Chicken picatta

We had a great meal at this restaurant. The outdoor seating was very nice. The service was tremendous. They were ready to fill our water glasses at a minute notice. We enjoyed the food. I had the chicken piccata and it was tremendous.

The Lobster Ravioli-- yummmm I added red pepper flakes but I like some spice in my life :)

Escaping the mosquitos and running into this cute Italian spot was a great decision. Happy hour all day on Tuesday?! ALL DAY. Count me in. Oh wait, I work on Tuesdays...! (Be responsible...) Marvelous choices for happy hour for apps and drinks. Our dishes were smashing! Bruschetta-- it does have olives. I'm not a fan of olives but this tasted really good. I could barely taste them! Lobster ravioli with some shrimp. Oh Yes, count me in. Like I said in another post-- give me all the carbs! My friend had the house white and the gnocchi with sausage. I had a bite or two as well. I love this food! We order the brownie and icecream too. Honestly, I'm more of a carb freak but this was fairly good. Gooey and rich! Come check this place out- it's close to the zoo!

    Carbonara 10/10

Everything was delicious. The carbonara was 10/10. Would definitely come back. Ambiance was nice and the service was great.

Great place for brunch. Friendly staff. The mimosas were great too. We all enjoyed ourselves.

I'm not sure why this place isn't more highly rated. I walked down from the National Zoo looking for a quick lunch; fortunately, this was a short walk. It was Monday so the place was largely empty. The vibe is halfway between casual and upscale. The lunch menu had pretty good options, but I went with a pretty standard buffalo wrap and side salad. Service was good and the wrap was tasty. Prices were reasonable. Maybe not 5 full stars but a very solid 4.

The food was sub par for the price spent there each plate ranges about 30 bucks and it's not a huge portion the flavor you can get better at olive garden ...we were starving from a day at the zoo and that was the closest. Very pretty inside service was slow for being the only ones there but they waiters were kind. Would not return unfortunately due to lack of flavor for the price

The restaurant is old school and dark and dim but has charm. It's the type of place that's dingy and hasn't changed in years and that's the appeal. I got the vodka sauce rigatoni and the two sausage links. The sauce itself came with tiny sausage pieces lodged in the sauce so technically you could go for the chicken as your protein instead. The sauce was good and rich but overall just a touch salty for me. The complimentary bread was good and fluffy and they give you the pesto oil but don't eat too much because the pasta portion is huge! Truly an iconic place to eat where famous people have dined before.

The hostess told us we likely wouldn't sit until 9:45 so I inquired about the bar and the manager quickly stepped in to put us on a waitlist. Since the restaurant is connected to a food hall of sorts, she recommended we grab a drink there while we wait. Shortly after we got our drink, we received notification of an opening and were seated by 8:15. We had the burrata appetizer, Ragú x 2, and the seafood fra diavolo. The burrata was one of the best I've had since they serve it with pesto, pine nuts, and garlic bread. It was truly divine! The Ragú was not far behind. Incredible flavor and a generous portion. The seafood dish had a nice kick and had plenty of seafood, which is not common as of late. All dishes were also priced reasonably for the quality you received. As we sat at the bar, we had pleasant conversation with the bartender and finished our meal with a small cannoli that really sealed the deal. If you're looking for excellent Italian food in DC without breaking the bank, look no further than Caruso's grocery! However, I'd recommend reserving ahead of time because it's certainly not a secret. LOL

Found it to be a bit louder than I would've liked but I think it was because of the spacing between tables. Came toward the end of the night and got seated and welcomed right away. I ordered the polpette, meatballs to start. They were quite tasty, but the sauce was a bit watery. Think that's just because the meatballs themselves were pretty juicy. Heard the focaccia was a hit, so asked for some of that. I was told they didn't have any left. Which was weird, because then another server came and asked if I wanted bread. I'm glad I said yes because the focaccia is very fresh and was a great addition to the meal. For my main, I ordered the vodka pasta, which was very flavorful and very saucy. I love a good, thick vodka sauce and that's what you'll get here. The one part of the pasta I didn't really enjoy was the chicken inside the pasta. I think I would've preferred a grilled chicken option instead of the chicken that comes in the pasta. That being said, this place is a gem. The prices are great and the portions are hearty. The pasta is thick, you're really coming here for fresh noodles and ingredients. If you want to top your meal off just right, you'll get the chocolate lava cake. Very delicious! We loved the panzanella salad with the creamy burrata. And the tuna tartare was chopped nicely and seasoned well. The standout for us was their pizza though. Mamma mia!! The Drunken love with pepperoni and vodka sauce was to die for. Their pizza is like a mix between NY style and Neapolitan. The crust is crispy and puffy. It took a lot of will power to not eat the whole thing. The pastas fell a little short for us. The alfredo was just ok- not the best flavor. And the pesto was really soupy and a huge portion. It wasn't too crunchy, but crunchy enough, perfectly chewy, and the butter on it was perfectly toasted. My mouth is watering as I relive the experience. Now, keep in mind I had been on the whole 30 and hadn't had bread in over 30 days, but am so glad this is how I broke my break and carbs fast. Two folks got the Mafaldine Cacio e Pepe and really enjoyed it. After some hemming and hawing, I settled on the Rigatoni alla Vodka. It was alright... I mean, it was good enough that I finished the WHOLE plate (again... no pasta for 30 days), but I found the sauce to be missing flavor and depth as it just tasted like a simple creamy tomato sauce that had little seasoning. Would I go back? Yep... even if only for the bread, but I would definitely try a different main course.
