Went around lunchtime--it was pretty busy, but the line moved quickly and orders came out fast. The menu focuses on Hawaiian BBQ staples like teriyaki chicken, pulled pork, etc. Most plates are around $10, and the portions are hefty for the price. I ordered the teriyaki chicken plate. The meat had a nice smoky char and a sweet-salty glaze (from the smoker outside). Not served piping hot, but still reason temperature, not super-tender either though. One piece had a slightly acrid taste, probably over smoked, but the rest was solid. The rice was standard. The mac salad was chilled, creamy, and well balanced--mayo-based with shreds of carrot, bits of green onion, and a light touch of pepper. Overall, a classic Hawaiian plate lunch. Fast, filling, and good value.

My friends and I stopped by Lilo's during our Oregon road trip and enjoyed the gigantic portions of food the restaurant had to offer. We arrived just before they were going to close, so we got the food as takeout and ate it outside on their picnic tables. I particularly liked the macaroni salad, but there was also plenty of meat and rice in the meal as well. I wish the sauce was a bit stronger, however, I know I tend to enjoy food with stronger sauces, so don't let my judgment prevent you from giving this place a try.

    One of the best!!!

Once in a while my wife and our kids will take a drive from Happy Valley, OR to eat this amazing food! i've tried multiple Hawaiian places but this place has a special spot in our hearts. Very delicious food not salty and not bland just perfect!

It's like the best mix of American style bbq with Hawaiian style sides! The bbq is not overly saucy and perfectly done. Get the steamed broccoli!! The perfect balance

A snowy winter day in da Hood had us craving a sunny lunch. Let's go to Lilo's. Universal expectations for any style BBQ joint is the meat needs to be moist & tender and memorable sauce. Kaumaha sad to say pulled pork was way dried out dude. 2oz of BBQ sauce is not going to soften it up. At least the employee was nice enough to give us an additional 2oz though he said he was supposed to charge for it. With dry bread to sandwich it made it to dry to eat and had to open it up and fork it. Rice was soggy :( Mac salad creamy but no flavor. Coleslaw had a crunchy snap but tasted just like the mac salad. Flank Steak was better but a bit dry also. Reggae music in the background might not be exactly a Hawaiian vibe. C'mon give me some Honolulu ukulele not Caribbean. Mahalo & hui hou.

If your going in warmer weather they have outdoor seating next to the smoker that they use to make this delicious food. Great portions for the price would recommend for anyone needing a pick me up.

Stopped here for dinner on a day trip to see Herman the Sturgeon at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery. It was an extra 21 miles to get to Hood River from the hatchery and worth every mile. Each of the four of us had something different covering the meats from pork to chicken to beef and they were all excellent. The sides were great, the portions were large, the service was fast and friendly, the experience was ideal. Try the POG - pineapple, orange, guava - drink, too!

Having been to Hawaii several times, maybe I just have too high a standard. Food - well it was edible. The pork was dry and tasteless, how does one mess up rice? I also ordered extra pineapple, which they did NOT include in my order. Service - fair, basically indifferent. I don't think he wanted to be there, but he wasn't rude or anything. Prices - average, but not a good value based on the quality of food. Parking - plenty of parking.

We went here based on the Yelp reviews and were not impressed at all. The food was just OK and the 'salt reaction' I had later on was awful.

Great food. The teriyaki chicken was smokey and the hobenaro steak was nice and spicy. The guava juice was not too sweet, just right.

When I was young, I had the opportunity to live on Oahu with my dad when he was called up for active duty at MCB Kaneohe Bay in 2002 and have had many plate lunches while I was there. I got the Big Kahuna; from the first bite I was instantly transported back in time and across the pacific to Oahu to Hawai'i. Mac Salad was amazing, proteins were perfect, and the rice is better than my own sticky rice. Cole slaw was phenomenal, tangy, zesty, crisp and crunchy and those Hawaiian chips were absolutely delicious. Mahalo.

She said when she takes this drive she always stops here. I love Hawaiian food so we agreed. It is street parking but we were able to find 2 close spots. The place was clean. There was 7 of us so a little hectic especially with 2 young kids. You walk up and place your order. The young man there was very friendly and patient with us. We ordered 3 meals to split. We got the salmon, chicken and combo plate and my daughter said to request extra macaroni salad. Very generous portions. The food was delicious and the teriyaki sauce was real good. I'm not much into the macaroni salad but this was good. I definitely would recommend this place!

We ended up coming back the next day without hesitation for 2 days of tacos in a row and I'd return in a heartbeat if ever back in Hood River. These tacos are addictive! With their mix-and-match fusion menu, your taco of choice can really taste any way you like. The Hawaiian taco with grilled shrimp was my favorite, but I also enjoyed their Thai taco with chicken. I wish I could have tried all of them as everything featured good, fresh ingredients. Don't skip the drinks here either. I usually avoid cocktails but they offered to make their frozen margarita spicy for me and I couldn't resist -- fantastic! The service was over-the-top amazing. This is a casual restaurant where you order at the counter, seat yourself with a number, and wait for your food to be delivered. Service at such establishments is usually pretty perfunctory, but not at Love & Hominy. The servers are all super friendly and seem genuinely enthusiastic to be working in their restaurant. That in itself says a lot. As mentioned, this place is casual but still fun and eclectic. While eating your tacos in-house, check out the wall on the entrance side.
