This bakery sells fantastic tasting Portuguese egg tarts. The egg filling has the right sweet fluffy creamy texture and taste to accompany the chewy flaky shell. I was lucky to come at the right time this afternoon when they were just coming out of the oven. During this visit I also bought a couple of their pineapple bao tarts which were also delicious. Definitely will be a regular customer here; so many other items to try.

My favorite place in NYC to get Portuguese egg tarts. They are the best! People come in here and buy them by the dozens. They are huge compared to other places and filled with so much egg custard! Tastes best hot. The in-house bakers are constantly making them all day. Seating. There is only a few high stools by the counter in the window. Service. Quick and efficient. During breakfast time, they have savory breakfast items like congee and rice noodles. The store itself is big. Lots of pastry selections to choose from. For those people that like durian, they make a durian crepe cake. Check out the display counter around the cashier area for some interesting cakes and desserts like mango puddings, rainbow jelly, red velvet cup cakes. This place is popular, on weekends, there may be a line of customers. Most waiting for the fresh Portuguese egg tarts to come out of the oven. Take note that this place opens and closes early. Seating. This place is mostly for takeout. But there are a few high stools at the counter in front of the window.

BLUF: Our favorite Chinese-style Portuguese Egg Tarts in New York City; found only in Brooklyn. The Lily Bloom bakery chain offers one of the best Chinese-style Portuguese Egg Tarts (pastél de nata; 葡撻) in New York City. Their tarts are $1.75 each, and are uniquely at least 50% larger, if not twice as large as the competition. We haven't found egg tarts this large anywhere else in New York, as Lily Bloom locations are all in Brooklyn. Lily Bloom's Portuguese egg tarts come piping hot when ordered by the box and fresh out of the oven, and are somewhat bland if eaten hot. But given several hours to cool and congeal into a proper custard, these egg tarts turn out to be pretty good. Xin Fa's Portuguese egg tarts have a dense filing, with a lightly sweet, eggy, slightly caramelized flavor, but these tarts lack the flaky crust of, and are less sweet than authentic pastéis de nata. Xin Fa / Lily Bloom has a loyalty program for those ordering Portuguese egg tarts in boxes of 6. They provide an $8 discount for those who collect and present 10 QR codes from the boxes; one from each box. This specific Lily Bloom location on 86th Street by 15th Avenue is more convenient to car traffic than their locations on 8th Avenue and by Bay Parkway. It's easier to find parking here, but the downside is that this location closes earlier than the others. Ordering is primarily for take-out; there are only two counter-height seats by the window. The ordering process is a little disjointed: - Customers may take packaged baked goods themselves. - Get unpackaged baked goods, such as Portuguese egg tarts and roast pork buns, with staff assistance. Point to or tell them what you want. - Order drinks, refrigerated desserts, and hot foods at the counter, and pay at the counter. While we come specifically for the Portuguese Egg Tarts, Lily Bloom offers many other items including buns, desserts, cakes, drinks, and seasonal Chinese treats (e.g., that Lily Bloom sells during Chinese New Year), such as radish cake.

I was finally able to see the buns display after years of them opening during the pandemic; before that, the buns were blocked off for showcasing. The shop is clean and the ladies that help you with the buns are kind and helpful. I tried to get different buns from other Chinese bakeries so I got one with sweet outer layer and salty egg yolk (it was fine, nice to try). Another bun I got was a really fresh looking sesame ball, which had lotus paste in the inside; really good, but very little filling. Another was a tapioca type texture bun, the texture is good, flavor is too subtle. Finally got a chance to try their rice noodles and it was a hefty container for $3 and $3.25. Got the dried shrimp rice noodles and beef rice noodles. The portion is huge. Unfortunately, I bought it over to eat it somewhere else, so it's gotten stiff so I will try it another time asap.

Lily Bloom is a big and clean space filled with many pastries on display. Service is quick and efficient. In love with their Portuguese egg tarts and are a must try! They're bigger than other tarts and have a perfect, creamy texture. They are so consistent with quality and hit the spot every time Will be coming back to try other baked goods here too

I decided to come in when I saw several people coming out with baked goods. It's a nice looking bakery with wonderful displays of colorful desserts. It is packed in there, but the staff is there to assist you. They have your typical Chinese goods from roast pork bun to curry chicken balls. I got a delicious an ice blended Mango coconut sticky rice and a sweet bread. Both are so delicious. Will go back there for sure.

Ordered a dozen of these and OMG it's so good

I will admit, this is the first time I have been to the other side of Brooklyn and I met family members for dim sum lunch. My cousin told me that this is the place to go for egg tarts and we picked up a dozen to take home to enjoy. SO GLAD that we made the choice for a dozen as when we ate them, it was so custardy and so delicious. We inhaled 4 when we got home and finished the balance within a day. Definitely coming back here the next time I'm visiting to enjoy more egg tarts.

Delicious treats and baked goods! Got some treats for the Lunar New Year. This location accepts credit cards. I'm glad I don't live closer, I'd buy stuff here everyday!

Their egg tarts are to die for, they are sooooo good! Big fan of their milk tea as well. You really can't go wrong with this combo. Please go try it! Amazing service from the employees and you can sit in to eat it as well.

I been to Lilly Bloom Bakeries and this one follows the similar format. The store still have COVID procedures in place. A person stands behind a parition and gets the items for you. The bakery items were affordably priced. I got a few baked goods but, I had original stopped by for bubble tea but, was told they ran out of boba. This wasn't the first time I stopped by and was told that they ran out of boba.

    A nice treat

Lily bloom has always been my favorite local bakery for breakfast. I always look forward to its new menu and bakery items that's inspired by a creative and modern twist. It's not your typical Asian bakery but filled with delicious flavors. Some of my favorites include HK milk tea, soy milk, rose tea, brown sugar drinks, etc. my typical go to are Portuguese egg tarts, Japanese cheesecake, pineapple bun with real pineapples, cake rolls, etc. i was delighted to find that they opened a three store front bakery at this new location and made it a point to try. Luckily I was able to take advantage of their grand opening special of 10% off everything. They currently do not offer dine in but looks like they will in the future. The sesame pudding was delicious and I highly recommend it.

Cute bakery in a local neighborhood that just opened! They're having 10% off for their grand opening that is still ongoing. The inside is very well kept and everything is aesthetically pleasing. I forgot to take a picture of the hong kong milk tea I bought but it was really good as well! Will definitely come back to try some other stuff when i'm in the area!

Black Forest cake - taste really bad
    Irene L.

I brought so much things here and they were either terrible or mediocre. The Portuguese egg tarts were okay. Even though it came out warm the shell was not crispy. The pork floss bun was ok at best and not enough floss. The coffee was ok. The Black Forest cake for $30 was horrible. The cake had a rough texture and the cream was heavy with a fake chocolate flavoring and the jam that was used as the filling was nasty. The brownie that was almost $3 was very chewy and was a small slice. The bake goods here are a hard pass.

This place definitely lives up to the hype! The food here is amazing, and when I say food, I mean…read moremore than just the baked goods. Starting off with the baked goods, the brown butter corn cake may be the single best pastry I've had in my life. It has a great crispy exterior and a super moist and decadent interior that just makes it the best pastry you could ever ask for. I also think they have one of the best chocolate chip cookies in the city, and their cinnamon roll is light yet executed perfectly. In addition to their pastries, their sandwiches are amazing. My favorite is this chili crisp tofu sandwich. It is packed with great flavor, perfectly tender tofu, and is layered between two pieces of delicious bread. I also love their arugula burrata prosciutto sandwich that is paired so nicely with their focaccia, making each bite the ultimate experience. While I've never waited in a really long line, I can say that they do move pretty efficiently. Unfortunately, there isn't much room to eat inside, but on a nice day, if you can grab a table outdoors, it's a great experience in the lovely Greenpoint neighborhood.

There was basil in the first sandwich that cuts through the fattiness of the meat and cheese which was great. The second sandwich had this spicy sesame sauce which was so good - was not expecting to like the tofu one that much. Brown butter corn bread was the most moist one I've ever had and the top was so crispy. Rhubarb pastry was good but nothing special - didn't taste the rhubarb.

Even though there is a line, you do not feel rushed or pressured to order quickly. On this visit we ordered plain croissant, chocolate croissant-fresh out of the oven, rhubarb croissant, black forest pastry and brown butter corn cake. The chocolate croissant was amazing. It is triple chocolate and cocoa powder is in the dough. It is filled with milk and dark chocolate, so creamy. The plain croissant was flaky and light. The brown butter corn cake was crispy and caramelized on the outside and soft and moist. The Black Forest croissant is a seasonal offering. It is made with their Triple Chocolate Croissant filled with chocolate cake and sour cherries and topped with mascarpone cream , Rhubarb & Custard Croissant . It is tart and sweet. The rhubarb is roasted and complimented with sweet vanilla custard. They all were excellent. Each were about $8. Highly recommend and don't let the line deter you .
