Giving it a 2 because the massage was good but I tried to use a gift certificate and apparently it was expired by either 2 or 4 years (I didn't see the date but he said that when I went to pay). He only honored half of the amount. I wasn't sure of NY law but I was pretty sure businesses are supposed to honor expired gift certificates. I didn't want to cause a scene so I paid the other half and left. Researched it when I got in the car and NY law requires a 9-year validity for gift certificates. I called back and he just kept saying it expired and they just follow the rules. It wasn't worth it to get into it with him so I just told him he shouldn't be doing that. He thanked me for telling him but never offered to honor the other half of the certificate. read more

I went in for a relaxing experience, the person giving me my massage kept answering the phone and got up to help a walk-in that wanted a gift certificate. At the end of the very average massage, I was told a minimum of 20% tip was required. This was a minimum of 20% on the service amount AND the tax paid for the cost of the service. When I said this is not posted, I was the told..."I did a very good job for you, you pay me more now"... then my receipt was put back in front of me, he then points it telling me I had to change the tip I'd already added...when I didn't add what he felt was enough, I was told to either Venmo him or bring more money later. At this point I felt unsafe and agreed to bring more later just so I could exit the store without his continued harassment. His demanded amount was ABOVE 20%. What I tipped him was 16% and this was above what his average service with multiple interruptions within the service, bullying harassment and demands for a "minimum tip" AFTER the service was provided deserved. This place is wonderful. The space is not designed to be very private, but the service is great ! The staff is highly trained and you get a really professional massage - and when you love deep massage like I do , as I carry lots of photography equipment, I need strong and knowledgeable hands who can dig into the knots and pains ! Every time I walk out so happy and feeling like a new me ! The prices are very fair especially when you know how most wanna be massage places charge for no benefit at all except maybe for the little chic fancy rooms you will get your massage in ;) Nice place. the first time I went I was very please but this time was awful. I had recommended it to a friend who went with me. we got there 5 minutes late but they had started calling 10 minutes before our appointment. I've gotten a few foot and back massages here over the years. You do have to call ahead as they don't really do walk ins (they'll probably tell you to come at a different time). The ambiance is always nice and quiet with calming music playing and sometimes I put in headphones myself. They always do a great job and I think it's a great value for what you're paying. The back massages aren't top quality as they don't have any private rooms so you keep a shirt on but they do their best with that. I got a 60min massage because I'd pulled by back and neck... She definitely got in there and by the end it felt a bit better but I have to say if you are looking for something relaxing this isn't it. She uses elbows and forearms the whole time. It's super intense and rough. I don't think she has profesu training (at least it didn't feel that way) The language barrier doesn't help. Came in today with wifey for a 30 min foot 30 min back massage. First off the guy who gave me a back massage clearly didn't know what he was doing. Felt like he just put his weight on my back and was dry humping me literally on each side. ( I wasn't expecting much for the price) but wow totally unprofessional. Foot massage was good no complaints there. Upon check out I wanted to give $6 each to my guy and wifeys masseuse which is 15% tip. The guy kind of laughed and with a straight face and loud tone said to me $10 minimum! No less $10 minimum! So it's crowded I'm not from around here I just have it to him but he also wanted the original $12 I have him I took it back when I have him the $20 he looked at me insulted and angry and said only minimum? Reserved same day 1 hr foot & back combo for two people. It was good for the price. I am bias because I have some amazing, inexpensive massage places where I live in Beverly Hills. However, for $40 - 30 min foot + 30 min back, these massage therapists are great. You get strong attention to muscle tension and stress and they will focus on spots with excessive pain. To people who may feel like they're having a negative experience: communicate your needs. If I feel I need more or less pressure, I always speak up. After all, the point is to relax, right?!!! Credit cards incur an extra charge plus tax, as in most places. So, if you want to pay straight up $40 or whatever it is, bring cash - and tip your massage therapist! They work hard to provide a destress service. If it's good, I always give at least 20% and if it's amazing, I'll definitely throw an extra few dollars on top. Giving this a two star only because my feet actually feel better. However, the lady that I got was very aggressive and mean. She didn't listen when I told her to use a little less pressure. She was also going too fast and didn't handle my feet with much care. She also made me feel uncomfortable when I went to pay with a credit card as I didn't have much cash. I tipped her and she made what I believe to be a snarky comment (don't speak their language but her body language said enough) to the other guy while shaking her head and not saying thank you. I was there getting a massage the day Alison with the one star review came in and it was a total misunderstanding / miscommunication which you know what - we're human and it happens but Alison you get a one star for screaming like an uncivilized person and acting like a petulant child just because you had to wait 15 minutes - WOW! I agree with Lisa. This is a low cost, high value alternative to a traditional spa. While I agree with some of the criticism, I think it may be naive to think you you will be getting more than the basics at the prices they charge. Incredibly unorganized. They never answer the phone, but then when you try and walk in, even if they are all sitting around they say they can't help you. On the rare occasion that you either get to make an appointment or walk in, there can be constant interruption: who wants to get their feet rubbed while your therapist is on the phone? I'd give 0 stars if I could. My friend and I went for a 1 hour foot massage which turned out to be the worst massage either of us had ever received. If you like fast, repetitive thumb and knuckle digging into the same areas of your feet over and over until it's painful, this is the place for you. Let's be honest, $28.00 for an hour foot massage is pretty amazing. They may not have the people skills and standards a high end spa has but that's not the goal here. With a profession that requires me to stand all day, I look forward to doing nothing but laying back in a recliner with the lights dim while someone else massages my feet. During the week, I am usually able to walk in however fri-sun I always call ahead to make an appointment which is understandable and usually accommodated within the hour I request. I will say that the cleanliness is not up to par. During the winter month I made sure to wear a sweatshirt that has a hood that I would put up while resting my head back but in the summer, I do like to bring my own towel to put behind my head. I don't know how many people lay back on the same chair and towel before it is cleaned. I would avoid at all costs. Only one guy working there spoke English - yet still seemed very confused. I waited for over 15 minutes only to learn that they thought I was with "the other people" (other customers). I'm not sure why they would think that, especially since we arrived at completely different times.
