Therapist calls me at 8:30 asking me to help her find parking, complaining that it's her third time today with this issue and overall disgruntled. Then at 9:10pm she cancels... On top of all of this customer service was on HER side saying she tried to look for parking and couldn't find any so she should come at a less busy time. I tried to book an appointment while traveling, and they responded that it couldn't be confirmed--so I made other plans. Over an hour after that, they sent another message that it was now confirmed, which I did not see and did not respond to. The therapist apparently showed up, but I was unaware of this switch having not seen the message. They charged me anyway, claiming I had to pay it as a "cancellation fee." Customer service refused to change that. Do not use this service unless you are willing to wait around all day "in case" they happen to find someone and send them, even in the absence of confirmation. read more

Secondly, if you do hire a therapist regardless of gender, they will cancel on you minutes before your appointment and they won't replace the therapist. I recommend using Zeel instead. I wish I had come here before booking through Soothe as it seems like a lot of people have had a similar horrible experience. First, I had to contact customer service after not being matched with a provider for several weeks and was told my area (which is explicitly listed on their website as an area of service) was a small market and they had me change essentially all of the criteria I originally asked for in order to be matched. Fine. Matched with a provider, appointment confirmed. Several weeks go by and it's the morning of the appointment. Wait 15, 20, 25 minutes after the start time because the app says she's on her way. Finally message the provider through the app and she says she had no idea she had been assigned an appointment today and blames the app. Takes HOURS to get in touch with customer service (within the hours listed on their website which are obviously not correct) and they tell me they are processing the refund for the charge and tip PLUS THE ERRONEOUS EXTRA $150 I had been charged that I hadn't noticed yet. My husband's birthday was genuinley ruined after having been looking forward to the massage gift for weeks and waiting around all morning, I'm left dealing with the credit card nightmare left behind and they have the nerve to say "thank you for choosing Soothe" in the sign-off. Half assed, ingenuine apology for the issue and no apology or explanation for the extra charge. I truly think there is some kind of scam at play here. Please beware, I wish I had.​ read more

The massage therapists Janice picked up the appointment we exchanged text messages from me thank her for picking the appointment. TERRIBLE. I am literally 1000% positive the person who gave me a massage today had never given a massage before AND had never RECEIVED a massage before. I would have ended it after one minute, but didn't feel comfortable starting an uncomfortable confrontation with a stranger alone in my apartment. I received a "massage" from Soothe in October after throwing out my neck. The massage therapist who came to my place had a dilapidated table that left vinyl bits all over my floor. The massage therapist wanted me to take off my shirt. I said I wanted to keep my shirt on, since I couldn't move my neck. Instead of allowing me to make the decision, the massage therapist (male) offered to take off my shirt. He did so. He then went to take off my pants, and I stopped him from doing so. The massage didn't do anything, and the guy made it seem like I was dying because I had low "heart energy." When the massage was over, the massage therapist did not give me any privacy to put my shirt back on. He stared at my breasts. He then asked me if I had salt. I gave him some salt I use for a bath, he dumped it in a frying pan, heated it up, and then asked me for a pillowcase...he dumped the salt in a pillowcase and told me to use it as a heating pack? It was extremely confusing, and I was just following this strange man's orders because he was in my house. So now, I have a neck that's still out, vinyl scraps all over my floor, and a pillowcase full of salt. I felt extremely violated after being undressed and watched like that. I called Soothe customer service, crying, and they initially only offered a credit for a future massage. Get this - after my experience, I had to specifically ask for a full refund. There was laughter in the background on the customer service line, and I felt like I wasn't being taken seriously. Customer service told me the massage therapist would never know that I had made the complaint, since I was scared because he now knew my address. A PR rep later let me know that the massage therapist had been dismissed, but that means it was obvious that I was the client who made the complaint. They would not give me the massage therapist's last name for my police report. They said they would give the police his last name. I have reason to believe that they never did so. Their PR only reached out to me after I started contacting massage associations and left a warning on Reddit. I got mixed messages, and she initially offered that it was a "cultural difference." Here's the thing: the massage therapist was Russian, and I'm Russian. It's not a Russian thing to sexually harass people. She then apologized, but I was extremely offended. I had filed a police report, and Soothe wanted the police to reach out to them. That's not how it works. Soothe has to contact the police to give information. I contacted them last month to see if they'd done anything. They hadn't. It's January, and I still haven't heard anything from them about the October incident. I basically had to ask for an apology after a strange man undressed me in my own home. This company is more concerned with covering themselves than making sure their customers are safe. They cannot even say when someone is available. Each time they call they claim that they have a different number of therapists in pittsburgh, clearly lying. Do not book this service! This is my first review ever and I'm compelled to write it based on my terrible experience. I booked an 8pm massage, my doorman calls at 8:03 (fine she didn't come early to setup), at 8:11 she is still not at my door and I got concerned she went to the wrong apt. I texted her to confirm she was coming, no answer. I called her and she said she was getting a snack. No apology just "I'm getting a snack because I haven't eaten". What?! She shows up at 8:15 (with her snack. Was she planning to eat it while she massaged me?) and at that point I've called soothe to ask them how to handle this situation. They apologized and said I could cancel her and they would rebook me for 9:30pm at 50% off. That should have been my second clue to just cancel, because any reputable company that had such a bad contractor would have given a complimentary service for the rude / late masseuse and delaying a client by an hour. I spoke to a nice customer service person who told me that someone would contact me to let me know EITHER WAY within 20 min. if I was confirmed or not for 9:30pm (it's 8:30pm at this point) 45 min go by and no contact. At 9:15pm I called and spoke with someone else to let them know that I never received a call to confirm or cancel and it's 15 min until my service. Is anyone coming? He places me on hold, and while I'm hold I get a voicemail saying no one is available. It felt very convenient that I got a call while I was complaining. So an entire night wasted where I could have gotten a massage by many of the other at home services. Anyway, that was my experience. Terrible. Not relaxing. Added to my stress. I would say to the management team: you are in the service industry. If you have 1 bad apple of a masseuse, you can turn that experience around with a customer by going above and beyond, not by blowing them off and trying to charge them a dime for your company's shortfalls. read more

This company doesn't even deserve 1 star. I reserved a couples massage a month ago for my partner and I for Valentines Day. I planned a full in house spa night. The appointment was for 730pm. Throughout the month they kept changing the confirmed therapist. Yesterday morning they only had one confirmed therapist. I called them and told them I didn't want one person here for two hours because that defeats the purpose of a couples massage and that they could just change it to one massage for my partner if they cant find the 2nd therapist. This conversation happened in the morning and I was sure that I at least had one therapist so I continued with my Vday plans. My partner came home and I had the candles, the rose bath with a robe and everything getting ready for the massage therapist to come (mind you this is all a surprise). At 644pm my partner is still in the rose bath and I recieve a call from Soothe stating that they could not find anyone for my 730pm appoitnment (46 minutes before the appoitnment). I told the agent that it was unacceptable I had reseved this over a month ago and she says well if you booked this morning its a busy day and that could be the reason. I reiterated to her that i had this resevation for a month or more at this point. They completely ruined my Valentines Day. Its not like I had enough time for an alternative plan. They didnt offer anything but to reschedule and no apology nothing whatsoever and cancelled my appointment. This company is unprofessional and i would never ever recommend them!
