Lima's Chicken - So amazing! Plantains, potatoes, rice, guacamole, salsa, corn and sour cream! - Peruvian Near Me - Catonsville, Maryland

Horrible costumer service. My sister accidentally ordered at this location which is 30 minutes away from us. She tried calling 11 times to cancel the order and no one picked up. We tried calling again 8 times the next day and still no one picked up. I drove to this location and we told them that we accidentally ordered at this location and we were trying to call to cancel the order, but no one ever picked up. Mind you, we tried calling when we arrived just to see if there phone worked, it worked just fine, but everyone there refused to pick up the phone. The manager had the phone in his hand the whole time and was playing with it, but never answered. After we told him we ordered at the wrong location he said that it was our fault and was extremely rude from the start when we were being very friendly. He refused to listen to us, refused to give us a refund, refused to remake the food for us and completely ignored the fact that we told him we called about 20 times. The restaurant closes at 8:15pm and we had ordered at 7:40pm and mind you we went to the location near our house before we realized it was the wrong location and the manager told us it was our fault because he excepted us to speed to Lima's in 10 minutes when it is a 30 minute drive for us. He also said he waited for us until 9:30pm and that we had 2 hours to get the food but we did not know they were still there seeing that the restaurant closed at 8:15pm and no one was picking up the phone. After arguing with the manager for 10 minutes he still refused until I told him I also work at a restaurant and if something like this had happened at my restaurant, we would've easily refunded the money or remade the food. He finally caved in (but still refused to give us our whole order), but he then loudly complained to his fellow coworkers about us and was laughing at us. He even pointed at us and told his coworkers while laughing and joking. Mind you this is the manager of the restaurant, he was VERY unprofessional. I do not recommend anyone ever go to this location, they are very cheap and stingy there and will try to steal all your money! Too bad I can't give them 0 stars! Go to the Hanover location instead, they are always friendly and the food taste 100 times better! read more

I've had their chicken before and it was great, but when I went the other day with some friends I wasn't feeling chicken so I ordered their fish and seafood ceviche, half expecting to be somewhat disappointed because it's a place known for chicken but I went along with it anyway. And boy I'm glad I did. Personally, I love lime and their ceviche was super flavorful and very lime-y and I loved it. It came with a side of sweet potato, 2 styles of corn and some extra juice for dipping. The sweet potato was delicious but the corn was forgettable, they were interesting to eat but not very flavorful. I also ordered plantains on the side which were really soft and tasty. Not the best I've ever had but certainly not the worst. This spot was so far the best ceviche I've had and I'm definitely going to be ordering it again in the future, along with some chicken! read more

This is my new favorite spot for chicken. The portions are absolutely enormous and the chicken is packed with flavor. The yellow sauce is delicious and sour cream based with a good flavor profile. We are in town visiting family and they recommended this place. I had fish tacos, chips and salsa, and tried to have tea. When I was dispensing the *organic* raspberry tea into my cup, I smelled a sulphur/sewer smell. I sniffed the top of my cup and just smelled raspberries. When I sat down I took one sip of my tea and it tasted like sulphur/sewer. I went and dumped the tea out, and had root beer instead. I did not rinse the cup before filling it with root beer. I don't know if it was the fish, the cabbage on the (soggy) tacos, the salsa, or the sewer tea, but I've had violent food poisoning for 2 days now. We are traveling and had to pay to keep our room for another 24 hrs, since I can't stop vomiting or stay out of the bathroom. Day 2's symptoms include severe headache and fever. I don't recommend this place to ANYONE. Definitely don't take kids here - what I had would hospitalize a child. Disgusting place. read more

The customer service here is on a level below pathetic. We walked in Tuesday evening, while placing the order the cashier was far too busy on her phone texting to properly place the order. We ordered a whole chicken and she the put the order in as a chicken bowl. When our order was called there was confusion (which isn't the problem). The problem began when the staff looks at us sideways like we're the ones who messed up ordering and they begin laughing. AND then the cashier demands that we over pay her for something that we never ordered in the first place. We tried explaining that her math was wrong and that she was overcharging us. She claimed to be the manager and called us stupid and told us to SHUT UP. I will never go to this place again and I will make sure that I tell everyone I know in the area of how horrible, nasty, and aggressive their staff is. Teach your staff to not be on the phone while working and some basic customer service. I swear you can get better service from a street vendor who can probably do basic math too and not try to rip people off. If she likes using her phone so much while working she should've just whipped out her calculator while she was at it. read more

For the past three years I've been begging various deities to plop down a Peruvian Chicken place in Catonsville. Somewhere in between Cthulu and R'hllor, Lima's Chicken was sent down to fulfill my wishes. I drove down from the city just to give this place a try. First plus? This place offers more than your traditional chicken, although the name of the place is a pretty big hint as to what the highlight of the place is. You could also get tacos/burritos here as well, and they've done a pretty interesting job of bootlegging the main machinery of Chipotle for their one-man assembly line. Ceviche and other assorted foodstuffs can also be procured here. Quarter chicken dark is always a safe bet for any chicken place. I got yucca and green beans. The yucca was cold and shivering. Green beans were pretty solid; nothing mind blowing, but there's a reason why this place isn't called Lima's Sauteed Green Beans and Onions. The chicken was decent, and was everything I have come to expect from Peruvian Chicken. I'm a real snob when it comes to charbroiled gallus gallus, so if you're new to Peruvian Chicken, this place is a really solid place to start as the chicken is actually pretty good. If you're conceited like me, you may want to pay attention to the sodium-heavy seasoning, which overshadows the delicate balance of mystery herbs and vague beer-like flavor of the chicken. My chicken also tasted vaguely of 409 disinfectant (on the bright side, no salmonella for me from this chicken). Also, the sauces (which are my favorite hoardable souvenir) are decent, nothing amazing. The green sauce could use a little flavoring aside from spicy and salty, and the yellow sauce just tasted like mayo, cheese, and maybe a little mustard. If you guzzle sauce like a SUV the way I do, you may want to request some extra ones, because the one half-filled ketchup cup you get won't satisfy. Ambiance is cheery, casual, and generous. The place is large and very clean. I'm a fan of their playlist, but the volume is not conducive to, say, proposing marriage to your beloved. If you were, however, to find yourself in need for a place in which you wanted to break up with said beloved without the details being overheard, this would be it. Not loud enough to drown out screams and raving, though. No horchata here. Since the green sauce is quite spicy, the milk in horchata has saved my life at other chicken places seeing as I'm a masochist and will continue to drink the sauce. There is no horchata here, so I just let the tears of pain stream down my face as I used my chicken bone to shove sauce in my face. Verdict? Give it a try, since this Peruvian Chicken is relatively new to the Catonsville area. Prices are decent, serving sizes are enough to fill you up, the establishment is really clean (for now) and spacious, and the staff is very friendly. Quality and taste of food is pretty good, and since they're new, I'd give them a few more weeks to really get their recipes and cooking methods optimized for the location. This place has potential. If any additional motivation is needed, think of the glorious Aldi and Dollar Tree right across the street - good food and cheap groceries, courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Cthulu. read more

This review is not for Limas as a business. They have great food and Ive never had a problem with them before. This review is for the woman answering the phones during quarantine. Ive never in my life had been treated so rudely that Ive actually left a negative review but I guess theres a first time for everything. They really need to take whoever is answering the phones off the line because shes harming their business and I cant imagine how much business they are losing from having her on the front line. This was my second really terrible experience having her answer the phone but this time she hung up on me twice. Each time I called I could barley get my boyfriends order out before she cut me off and gave me the total and pick up time. I still needed to give her mine but instead of asking if I was getting anything else she just cut me off and gave me the total. The entire time I was placing my order she was being short, impatient, kept cutting me off, and extremely rude. Even still I was being polite and trying to enunciate what I was saying because she said she was having a hard time hearing me even though I could hear her fine. Instead of telling me that we had a bad connection and asking me to call back when I had better reception she just hung up on me mid order. I called back to ask why she was so rude when I was just trying to place my order, she kept repeating that she couldn't hear me and hung up again. She definitely could otherwise she wouldn't have hung up on me so quickly. I really hope they get the guy that normally takes orders back soon because hes great and Ive never had a problem with him or really anyone. Really enjoyed their Peruvian rotisserie chicken. Eating-in means the chicken is warm and moist. Once cooled-down, the meat is more dry. Also, we had their Peruvian steak -- it's okay but it's more pricey and less tasty than a classic Cuban churrasco steak. However, the fried plantains are a must try. And they are one of the few local places serving yuca fries. Overall, this is a really good place. Two thumbs-up! read more

It was delicious, one of the better Greek salads I've ever had. The veggies were really fresh the chicken was AMAZING. I love rotisserie, but this puts all other rotisserie to shame. Finally a decent Peruvian place near us! The restaurant was clean and modern. My 2 kids and I tried the whole chicken and a side of Yuca. The service was quick and they were not stingy on the yellow sauce! Yay! The chicken was on the small side compared to other Peruvian chicken place such as Sardi in College Park. it was very flavorful so thumbs up! The yuca was ok. It was on the dry side. Been waiting for delicious charbroiled Peruvian chicken in my 'hood, and this place does not disappoint! To start with, the dining area is huge and sparkling clean, so already a big step up from every other Peruvian chicken spot I've patronized. So far I've only tried the chicken and a couple of the sides (dark meat is the juiciest) and I'd say it's on-par or better than Crisp 'n Juicy. The food at this place is great. They give large portions of food and the taste is awesome. The reason for two stars is that I have a problem with the employees. Is it too much to ask for a warm greeting. Show customer appreciation at least to repeat customers. From the look and feel it looks like all of the employees hate their job just from their demeanor. The young lady behind the counter that was serving me gave off a vibe like she was having a bad day. I could tell she didn't understand to much English. The straw that broke the camels back for me was how she fixed my container. I asked for mixed vegetables and potatoes. She almost slid the container off the table, then she put in the veggies then she scooped up a small amount of potatoes she preceded to scoop up more. She saw that there was nothing on the spoon and as she looked me dead in the eyes she acted like she put more potatoes in the container. This place was mediocre at best. I visited my way to work one evening and I stopped in. I ordered a chicken bowl, underwhelminnnnnnggggg. The chicken didn't taste like it was made on the current day, it tasted like it was a few days old. Nothing at all was special about the corn topping, it was either out of a can or bag...the sour cream was ok. The rice was hard however the cilantro looked fresh. Welp, the customer service, sucked. Best way to describe it. The man helping the guy infront of me let the guy get infront of me to place an additional order. He let me know this by sticking up his pointer finger. Came here today for lunch for the first time. I was drving by. i got the steak, chicken, and shrimp meal that comes with fries rice and a salad. I really should have payed attention to the name of the place and my surroundings. It was tooo charred grilled for me but I had this sauce that look like ceaser dressing that taste soooooooooooooo good!!!! I drenched that on everything !! I got up and asked for extra! Burrito was soggy. We ordered 2 steak burritos and they were not what we were expecting. Because of the decent stars and ratings we thought hey why not try this place. I wouldn't go back. The burrito had white rice in it?!? Like wtf. No flavor just plain white rice. Might as well had the steak on the side and white rice as a side dish to it. It did not go well together as a burrito. I even asked for extra cilantro and onions in the burrito and the guy told me it was in the salsa already. I asked for the salsa on the side and recieved a small tiny cup which had like 2 micro pieces of cilantro and like no onions and like literally 6 pieces of minced tomato like no joke!.. I dont know if you call that salsa and for the side of salsa for the big burrito portion was totally off. Chipotle was closed that night so this was our only option since we were starving -_-.. I gave this location 2 stars simply on the basis that the FOOD itself was not bad. However, I visited this location on 5/3/20, because the one located in the Northwest Plaza had permanently closed for business. I placed my order online due to the COVID pandemic, and opted to picked up my order. Thank goodness I did! When I entered the location, I said hello, and although employees both saw and heard me, several minutes passed before someone came to the front to address me. No other customers were in the store, so the fact that employees did not have on face mask was I guess ok, however they did not bother to put on masks once I entered either. Additionally, the female to emerged from the back to assist me, did so with a mouthful of food. I had already been waiting. Why not just finish chewing first, but ok. Very unprofessional! I checked my order before leaving. It was not correct. I informed the employed of the error. Suddenly, she has a negative attitude, as thought I am disturbing/inconveniencing her. She immediately started to remake the order, however again, she is doing so incorrectly. AGAIN, I inform her, stating "Ma'am, the order is incorrect. Did you read the online order?" To which she responds "Yes, I did, but I didn't", as she throws the one she's making and the original one in the trash, again as though I am the reason for her inconvenience! I directed her on the third attempt only to discover that all of the options for preparation listed on their website are not actually options they abide to in store....or maybe the options weren't options just for ME...I don't know. But what I will say is this...I paid too much money (including tip...all done online) for a meal to have been treated in such a discourteous and unprofessional manner. I paid too much money to have my order done incorrectly TWICE and only correctly on the third attempt at my direction. I can't say for sure whether the employee has difficulty reading/understanding the English language, or just did not care enough to prepare correctly. Again, once the order was correct, the food was ok, but certainly not so good I would ever visit that location again. Best chicken in Catonsville! I've been there at least 5 times within the past month or so and I always left satisfied. I haven't tried anything else except for the chicken and sides. Its just too good. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, the food is delicious, what more could you ask for? The main reason I'm writing this review is because I don't think a lot of people know about it yet so every night seems like a slow night. I went here for lunch today! I had the 1/4 chicken (dark meat) with two sides (black beans and mixed veggies). Everything was delicious. I loved the taste of the chicken. Oh and they give you this yellow and green sauce for the chicken. The green is very spicy and the yellow is sweet. They taste great mixed together. The price was excellent.
