Limered is not the most amazing bubbletea place in the universe but it sure has its own charm. Milk related drinks: I only tried wow green bean which was nice but not too impressive. Matcha with milk is better in my opinion, you can taste the pretty texture of matcha powder blending in with the boba; such a pleasant feeling. I wouldn't recommend the drink hot though. Tea: I love their giant collection of teas! You can certainly ask them to cold brew it for you and add some boba as you like. Some of my friends like the idea while others don't. I tried the jasmine pomegranate (green tea leaves) and something monkey (white tea I believe) and both times came out pretty tasty. I'm more of a sweet person so I usually ask them to sweeten my drink a little bit. Boba: is good, nothing insanely amazing about it. However, the few instances they put honey on it (and I understand that it's expensive to do so everyday all day), the boba is an epic win! The buns are so so but cheap for the serving they give! Service: I love this place for a few good reasons: stamp card - 10th drink is free! The interior is pretty neat, sometimes you will hear really good music playing free wifi! Extra clean bathroom! Take credit cards! Really nice staff! There was one instance that I asked for a drink and had a minor miscommunication with the cashier which I ended up getting my drink without milk so he made me a new drink for free. Or this other time the staff offered me a new drink since it took me a while to finish my drink and he thought it wasn't as good as it should be. The hours of operation are really convenient as well. As for the wait? I didn't find it a problem. Sure it might be really hectic during busy hours but that's the same everywhere else. read more

I went to a place like this in Hong Kong and I have been to a few in NYC (some good, some bad) and I was weary about trying this place at first. To my pleasant surprise the place frikkin rooooocks! A never ending supply of good healthy finder food, tea, funky drinks and wifi. Makes me wanna close my office and work there off me laptop. Worst milk tea place I've ever been!!! I ordered a jasmine mile tea with boba, no ice no sugar. I repeated " no ice" three times, the cashier nodded. Then I got a jasmine milk tea with half cup of ice. I told them, a waitress with blonde hair said she would redo it. And then I waited for 20 mins, I still didn't hear my name. I went to the counter, someone came up holding my order, saying they called her name, but this is not her tea. The blonde hair waitress gave the girl right order, and told me she can't control it (she called the wrong name, so someone pick it up, and she now said she can't control it??) then she said she will redo it again. The first time I went to Limered, I wasn't sure what I was expecting. But as soon as I was served their Jasmine Milk Green Tea with bubbles, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Their tapioca was the right amount of chewy texture and flavor, not like other bubble tea places where their bubbles were hard and disgusting (ugh). Their milk tea held just the right amount of sweetness which was perfect for me as I am not a big fan of overly sweet drinks. Then I had their Passion Fruit Blizzard with popping boba and that was when I knew that I was a Limered convert for sure. Alright, so I have only been to limered twice. My first time was really awesome! Truly speaking, I got a passion fruit blizzard with boba and it was just excellent! The right amount of sweetness, not sour not too icy... It was all PERFECT ! Then at my second visit, it wasn't as good as I remembered it to be. Of course I didn't get the same thing than last time, because I was curious on trying the other tea drink too. So I got this jasmine green milk tea with boba and it was really not to my taste. The milk tea was quite watery, like nothing similar to a milk tea from other places. It's still conserve strongly the taste of the jasmine tea, which you are not quite supposed to. So quite disappointed with the milk tea. On the other hand, the staff was ok. One of them seem to be a bit off too. I am extraordinarily jealous of current Amherst and UMass students for the gem that is LimeRed. While I was a student, the options in downtown for quick bubble tea drinks were extremely limited and often poor/inconsistent quality. LimeRed has evidently filled the need quite well--every time I have returned to visit Amherst the teahouse is doing brisk business. Their menu carries a good variety of teas, milk teas, and slushes as well as different add-ins with classic boba as well as fruit ,pudding, and flavorful "popping" jellies. I have had and loved the almond and coconut milk teas as well as the "blizzard" varieties of slushes with ice cream mixed in. The milk teas are smooth and delectable while the slushes are not too sugary and sweet.. Most importantly, the boba are consistently very fresh, soft, and chewy. I have had no problems with waiting time or service, though I have only gone to LimeRed as an after-dinner treat in the evening. The owners and service staff are friendly and personable and are making a big effort to make LimeRed a part of the Amherst community. I have made it a point to visit LimeRed every time I'm back in Amherst as a must-treat and great place to catch up with friends. read more

This is literally the worst business I've ever seen operate. Their customer service is horrendous, their prices are ridiculous and they can't even keep their hours consistent. (Caveat: I don't really like sweet drinks, so while I say it's too sweet it may not actually be as sweet as you imagine from this.) What a ridiculously cheap establishment!!!! My boyfriend has successfully recruited me in boycotting LimeRed Teahouse. I used to be understanding of LimeRed's pricing of its bubble teas. After all, they were delicious, flavorful, nicely presented, brimming with bubbles (boba) and the staff was friendly and the place trendy and new. But over time, the place has not remained true to its initial standard of quality. Ever since they changed the product they use to make the milk teas, I've gotten many a mutated, insipid or only semi-detectably flavored tea at this establishment. A coconut tea that you can smell but hardly taste, a taro tea that tastes like water and powder and doesn't even smell like taro, etc. I used to think that it would pass as they adjusted to their new system, but as it turns out, the drinks are too expensive for those mistakes to be made. And the business never 'adjusts', because they're always changing everything. It's like they want to screw locals out of rewards, because they change the stamps or the card system so often that your points quickly become void. If you're too cheap to give rewards, DON'T OFFER THEM AT ALL! They're so fake! Also, the place gets ever cheaper with its materials--'Would you like boba?'. OF COURSE I WANT BOBA YOU IDIOT! Why would I pay a fortune for your BUBBLE TEA if I didn't want boba????! I'm never coming back here. On top of all this, all the nice staff have gradually left, to be replaced by awkward, cold people. They take forever to make your drink even on a slow day, and I discovered places like BubbleMaineia, where I can get more milk tea with more boba for more than $2 less per size! I love this place. The first time I went here I ordered an ice crush and it was so large it was overflowing its glass. It was a weekday morning and not busy at all and the staff didn't seem to mind that we sat there long after we finished our drinks using the wi-fi to study. (Inexplicably, every time I've gone since then they've served me my drink in a to-go cup). The popping boba is a must-get, even though its 25 cents more. I got the spinach dumplings once too and they were also pretty good. I also (usually) like the music they play. Overall, a good place to study. I love LimeRed. It's become a bit of an addiction for me and a few friends. I've only ever had bubble tea at one other place before, so I can't claim any expertise when it comes to judging their products, but I LOVE their Assam black milk tea, and I really like pretty much everything else I've tried there. I've seen at least one review complaining about LimeRed using powdered milk in their milk tea, but whatever they use tastes just fine and is non-dairy, which is great for my very very lactose intolerant friend. The environment is also really great. It's a casual sit down place where you order at the counter and then pick a table to sit at. They have a couch to sit on if you're just waiting for a to-go order. I love their decor-- really simple with nice modern hanging lamps and some framed photos. Their bathrooms are nice and clean, and they play a really good mix of music (I find myself saying "I love the music they play here" every time I go). The people who work at LimeRed are all very nice and their service just keeps getting better and better as both the owners and the other employees gain experience. I recommend LimeRed to anyone who already likes bubble tea or wants to try something new. read more

Ignore the people who were annoyed with the service. The lot was not originally designed for commercial food (or drink); previously it was a Newbury Comics, and a clothing store before that. Being a retail space, I think they've done well to convert it. Of course there are limitations (like a small kitchen with small refrigerators and less than powerful stoves) that are out of their control, and that end up impacting the speed and efficiency of the service; however, consider many of the other restaurants that are in the area. Few have the same amount of preparation time and volume of customers. Yes it can be a bit ridiculous on the weekends, but if that drives you crazy, then plan for a time that will be less busy. There is a tendency to run out of a few items now and then, but I haven't seen that happen in quite a while. But what I have gotten has always been quality and well prepared. This is a nice little place. I went to the one in Northampton first while visiting friends, but because I live in Amherst I decided to try out this one too. It's about the same as the one in Northampton; the establishment itself is bigger and there's more room to sit, but that's about the only distinction. It's a very colourful, hip place with a relaxing atmosphere. I love this place. Their bubble tea is the best around and it's a fun atmosphere. I've been coming here for a few years now and I've never been disappointed with the tea. Lately the lines have been crazy and there is no effort made to keep the line moving. They need to have more staff in to accommodate the crowds. I just stood at the desk for 15 minutes watching two people make tea. I still enjoyed my tea and gave a tip because the employees are working hard, but this is really unacceptable. Limered is awesome. I've survived a bubble tea addiction when living in Shanghai and Taipei, and this place brings that back.

I wasn't thrilled with the vegan options which are primarily only the sickly sweet fruit teas, but they do know how to do boba right. I wish they offered bubble tea with soy milk as an option. I'm a huge fan of taro-flavored bubble tea so not having that as an choice was disappointing. I'd stop by again for sure, but I'd like to see them improve their vegan options. read more

LimeRed bubble tea is so good, everyone I know loves it. Everything is very good, the best boba I've ever had, always perfectly cooked and slightly sweet.
