Quaint place with some tables and high top seats. The cashier at the counter was very friendly. I thought my food was decently priced. I got a half rack of ribs which were tender, great bbq sauce and she included extra. They were a tad dry though. Corn bread and 2 sides included. The sweet potato fries were tasty as was the potato salad. I have had some items from their food truck which I enjoy, the walking taco and burnt end taco. I wasn't a fan of the Liverpool location but this one hit it out of the park for me. read more

I was looking forward to trying this place what a let down door dashed a few items, The honey garlic wings were very good and my wife had the pulled pork was great to but the one item I was excited for the fried green tomatoes were not fried long enough the batter was not seasoned at all the Mac n cheese was bland and the coleslaw had absolutely no flavor and the mozz sticks were nothing great. read more

Had high hopes for the Limp Lizard. I was out in Syracuse and wanted to give it a try as I had heard good things about the food. Might have been better if there was BBQ sauce on my sandwich or in my to go order. I had asked for the sauce on the side with this being a take out order. Also, asked for salt and utensils. I got no sauce, no salt, and no utensils. Bun was soggy and pork without sauce was ok but had very little taste. Best part of meal were the fries. Disappointed. We had limp lizard cater a company event recently. They came in their food truck so I thought it would be relatively fresh like most trucks are but the food truck was just the mode of transportation for the precooked catered food. I had the pulled pork slider with a side Mac n cheese, potato salad and corn bread. I will start writ the potato salad, that was delicious I would have have totally ate more of that. The Mac n cheese wasn't bad but nothing to write home about or make me come back for. The corn bread was not something I would have again. Plenty of places have delicious corn bread but this one really was not any good and I regretted wasting those calories As for the pulled pork, it wasn't bad but I had recently made my own for a family event and I preferred mine. One thing that is nice about BBQ companies is usually their different sauces, there was no options offered for us which was a let down. We stopped in for takeout last night because we were in the area. The customer service we got was refreshingly friendly and helpfu - and we were very pleased with the food when we got home. Yum! I cannot speak for service at all because we did carry out (which was super fast and packaged nicely); however, this is some good barbecue! My husband and I both had the bbq brisket and wow! It was tender, flaky, moist, and flavorful, but the sauce and smoke wasn't overpowering - you could enjoy the taste of the brisket! It was a generous portion and you get two sides. I really wanted cornbread but they were out for the night (bummer, maybe next time), but the sweet potato fries were really good. The roasted corn was nothing special but wasn't bad and my husband enjoyed the chili. Definitely will visit again next time we are in town! Ah, Limp Lizard. My sister and her family and I often come here on warm summer nights and afterwards walk over to Big Dip for some ice cream. Today, I took my nieces, who have returned here many times. Primarily because their mother loves this place so much; she was actually the one to get me hooked. Now, I won't compare this to a certain well known other BBQ place (ahem Dinosaur BBQ), because even though Limp Lizard also has their own BBQ sauce and entrees, I see these two restaurants as entirely different. Limp Lizard offers southwestern/Tex-mex/BBQ style cuisine. There are burgers, corn bread, fries, red potato salad, salads, onion rings, ribs, jambalaya, chicken, beans, etc. My one niece who used to love the mac and cheese, but claims the recipe changed (I agreed after trying it today. It reminds me of kraft, not terrible! But she doesn't like the new one as much) had the chicken tenders and a side of mac and cheese (rather than her usual full entree). My other niece and I split the Philly cheesesteak, sweet potato fries, and mac and cheese. I have actually been craving their Philly cheesesteak. We also all ordered the bottled Saranac Shirley Temples. There were so many chicken tenders my niece couldn't finish them on her own, and she gave some to each of us. Even though my other niece and I split a meal, it was more than enough. Although, I do think the cheesesteak could have been filled more with meat, as the bread to meat ratio was a little disproportionate. My niece's chicken tenders were basic. I actually told my two nieces who are 14 and 16 yo, that I was so perplexed to how Chick Fil A does fried chicken so well. Limp Lizard's tenders were perfectly fine, but not ones I will remember. I would prefer Tully's. One let down was that I believe they changed their recipe for BBQ sauce. I used to practically drink their original recipe, but something tasted off about the BBQ sauce I had today. The one I remember from past occasions was vinegary, tangy, thin, and had a reddish tone. Whereas this one was thicker and not as flavorful. They have a wide selection of drinks and desserts. Lots of fun Saranac carbonated soft-drinks, beers--Coronas--and pies. I really love Limp Lizard and I am so happy there are multiple locations in case I'm out in Liverpool or near another location. This Limp Lizard also does delivery! It was honestly pretty good! Different than other bbq places so you can't compare to the big one around here. Prices was okay, not cheap, not crazy expensive. The only gripe I have is I got a pulled pork sandwhich and the whole bottom bun was totally soaked in grease. Luckily, I never usually eat the bread. We ordered from Limp Lizard tonight, and they were friendly when we picked up. The place looked great with the kind of atmosphere you might expect from a BBQ joint. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. We frequent smoke houses and BBQ joints a lot and in various areas, so we were excited when we found this place. But the items we tried were dry, over cooked and had no smoke flavor...i immediately looked for the smoke ring on my brisket, but it didn't have one. It was obvious that it was not that slow and low BBQ we usually find and are looking for. The smokiest flavor was from the collard greens, which were also dry with no juices to them. The Mac was cheese, but very bland, as where the slaw was very sour and also rather dry. The sweet potato fries were the best side item and they lacked in salt...which was an easy fix compared to the rest. The one thing that I would actually come back for time and time again was the corn bread, it was perfectly cooked!! Super moist and not overly gritty. I know, it seems like this is a slam on the establishment, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. In fact I'm hoping to come back again after a little bit and try any changes they might want to make, because the reason I'm pointing this out is because there's always room for improvement and I would like to see that Improvement happen. Where they are right now is a good starting point, I felt overall on a scale of 1 to 10 I would have said 7.9, so it's not bad food it just isn't what true barbecue fans want to see in their barbecue, I made specific Choice decisions in what I pointed out because those are the best places to improve. The name and the look of the building is a little deceiving as this is more of a small take out place. You first walk in and there's a bathroom to your left, pick up counter in front of you and 4 eat in tables to your right. You order your food from the counter, get your own drinks from the soda fountain and they bring your food to you (if you're eating in). The whole dining experience was rather cold and not an inviting place to have a meal. The food itself wasn't great either. I expected it to be the same as the Liverpool location but the flavors were not the same. The Mac and cheese was served cool and bland, same for the chili. The burger, fries and pulled pork sandwiches weren't bad- hard to mess those up. read more

I'm really surprised that this place has so many positive reviews. I went on a Saturday at 4pm for my second visit to this location of Limp Lizard with some friends. The hostess/cashier was miserable. She looked like she'd rather be ANYWHERE else. She was utterly unhelpful too. OH! But she did manage to bring the food to our table outside, but without silverware. And one of my friends' order of jambalaya came out cold. My boyfriend loves their smoked wings and they are consistently great. I also enjoy their roasted corn side. read more

Very disappointed. After hearing many raving reviews I decided to give this place a try. Ordered "Big Tom's Smoked Turkey Sandwich" which the menu described as follows: "Our smoked turkey piled high with cranberry mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion and choice of two sides." Could have made a better sandwich at home. The smoked turkey was nothing more than rubbery, cheap grade turkey lunch meat from some grocery store deli. No cranberry mayo either just plain mayo slopped on a bun. Should have made my own sandwich and saved the $12.99. Save your hard earned cash for somewhere else. read more

We ordered from limp lizard via GrubHub. I was a little surprised to see how pricey our dinner ended up being. But I assumed that with the cost of delivery and the delivery tip etc. it was what I should expect. When the food arrived I was disappointed to find that my chicken tenders came without the requested sauce, And that the soft drink we had ordered, a 2 liter of Diet Pepsi, was incorrect as well and we were sent regular. When you're ordering $46 worth of food BEFORE taxes and fees, you'd assume someone is checking it to make sure it's right. So clearly I was mad. But then I tried the baked beans I'd ordered. HOW THE HELL DO YOU MAKE BAKED BEANS THAT ARE SO GOOD I COULD ALMOST FORGIVE THE BOTCHED ORDER??? Seriously, Limp Lizard WINS at baked beans. Wow. Dropping my kid off at a local college and asked the hotel's main desk for a food recommendation. wasn't expecting superb bbq like this. The pulled pork had a beautiful smoky bark chopped into the tender and distinct inner meat - not like a lot of pulled pork pretenders that are more like mushy smoked stew. Great ribs that had a smoke ring that went almost all the way through the meat, but were still moist and not over smoked. Tasty rub - left to you to finish with sauce. I didn't use any and the meat didn't need it. The real surprise for me was the brisket. I asked for the house specialties and got the pork. I ended up ordering some brisket to go for my daughter because that's her favorite. I have no idea why they don't brag that one up more. It was the best of the lot, and that's saying something considering how much harder it is to bbq good brisket. read more

If you want Limp Lizard at its finest, go to one of the other locations. North Syracuse is great for a quick fix on limited time, but the quality of the food and service suffers. The place is counter service only and all of the sides are behind the glass, but buffet style. The woman who took our order had the hardest time understanding what I wanted and figuring out how to put the order into the register. After waiting some time and realizing we did not have enough time to stay and eat, I went back and requested that we have our meals to go. I could tell that the cook was not happy about it, and shoved the food into boxes, not bothering to close the containers. Limp Lizard can, and has, done better. Great surprise! I was told they had great BBQ items but never dared going. I went in on a nice evening and sat outside with one of the best briskets I have had in the area. I wish there were more non-sandwich options but they make it work. You just need to ask for it. The fried were good (but that is easy...).
