My partner and I had just come from a long camping trip upstate and desperately needed carbs after skipping breakfast. Coppeetop tavern did not disappoint. We ordered way too much food but it was all delicious and I was impressed by how varied the menu is. Beer selection is good. Service was fast. We ordered Nashville honey wings, veggie pizza, and vodka burrata pizza. The wings were big and cooked perfectly. Good flavor and paired well with blue cheese. The pizzas were decent although they could have used more herbs and spices. They also would have been better if they were cooked longer. Service wasn't good or bad. We really enjoyed our meals at Coppertop in North Syracuse. The first things first, our waiter was super attentive which is always nice. The pasta was delicious, and it was nice it was served with two large pieces of garlic bread. I had leftovers for 3 more meals which just shows it's a good price for the amount. The fish was tasty too, and interestingly fried, paired with my favorite crispy shoestring fries. The butter cake wasn't our favorite but we can be picky with our desserts. I enjoyed the avocado app. The bang bang chicken was suggested but very minimal additions and primarily just egg noodles and no real sustenance. Ambiance is a dark tavern - sunlight is not a problem. Copper Top was a recommendation from an employee of a cigar shop we were visiting. We asked where she would go that's nearby and good, without hesitation she said "Copper Top, their pizza nachos are great!". Why not, when in Syracuse.... It was about 6:30pm on a Monday night, they were pretty busy but my buddy and I were able to grab two seats at the bar. Quick service by the bartender (who actually seemed to always be there right before we needed something). We were looking for the "pizza nachos" but found out they're called the "Copper Top Nachos". Now, I in a million years would never think to order this: Homemade pasta chips topped with sausage, pepperoni, marinara, mozzarella, kalamata olives, bruschetta, pepperoncinis and scallions. It seems like overkill (and it really is), but we went for it anyways based on the recommendation. Unreal, these things are great! The pasta is fried giving it a texture not as hard as a chip but held up great to all of the toppings (and there are a lot). Everything worked together well, salty meats, savory cheese, acidic bruschetta; we crushed these faster than two sumo wrestlers that had eaten in a week. For dinner I kept it simple, the Bacon Cheeseburger: bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo. I ordered it medium and it was cooked medium, the meat was seasoned and the fries were good. A good burger overall. I could see becoming a regular here, it's good that I'm not local because the Copper Top Nachos would be my demise. I love the food and the wait staff. I've been coming here for almost 8 years. However, the management here is disgusting and appalling. If I didn't love the staff, I wouldn't come here due to management. The day that my favorite wait staff and bartenders get fired or leave are the days that I'll leave this establishment. I think the owners of this family owned company forget the people come for ... not only the experience and the food but for the people, the people that work there and how you treat the people that work there like crap you're awful people. I came in today to a fellow regular explain to me why a plate of food was sitting at the bar by itself with no person at it. They rang in food and said no mayonnaise the kitchen ..let me repeat that.. ThE KITCHEN put mayonnaise on the sandwich even though the ticket read no mayo ... the manager came out and spoke to the person at the bar, explaining that they messed up and put mayo on the sandwich. Let me remind you again. It is another regular that comes in all the time sitting next to me explaining this story to me As he watched this whole thing happen. He said after the manager spoke to him and walked away. The guest got up and left. He thought he was going to the bathroom. The customer actually fully left meaning he's pissed that he got mayonnaise on his sandwich which the Bartender rang in as no mayonnaise. So here we are even if the kitchen put it on ... mayonnaise which means it's the kitchen's fault not the Bartender this customer should've never left .... so screw the customer. (I'm not blaming the kitchen we all make mistakes but follow the story of why I am pointing things out) I dislike the customer for this action after he acted like it was fine to the manager who spoke to him about the mistake. Now here I am eating my meal about an hour later, hearing another manager, talking to the Bartender saying that he has to write her up because of the incident.?! Please someone tell me where it is this Bartender's fault.. this is what I find the most disgusting way to manage a facility. I know this particular bartender as I come in specifically to see her. She's been there nine years and now she's being written up because she didn't take a credit card for her one bar guest?! At an empty bar mind you! Before I leave it as this and people get mad, I ask you all when you go into Coppertop and sit at a table. Have you ever been once asked for your credit card? Do you think any of those people have ever got up and left and I guarantee 1000% they have done that ...: do you think that that waitress was written up or that they deserve to be written up ?! My problem here is what kind of establishment is being ran? Write up a bartender because you kitchen made a mistake?! All I can say is this is a disgrace and you should focus on treating your employees better. I worked for a bar and grill and if a disgusting customer got up and left and didn't pay for their food ... my local bar owner seeing it wasn't corporate would've never written me up! Coppertop is a great go to with a menu full of choices but I always like to check out the specials. My daughter is more of a "stick with the standards" type however this just means she really likes what she gets there. We visited on a recent Tuesday evening and did not have a wait. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. I chose the Chicken Pasadena Fettuccine and my daughter got the 6 cheese macaroni and cheese. Garlic bread came with both. The large serving of Chicken Pasadena had ample pieces of tender chicken, peppers and a delicious jalapeño lime cream sauce that was not too spicy. The Mac and cheese had a crispy bread crumb topping that added a bit of texture to the creamy pasta dish. We both declined dessert and went home with leftovers. My only complaint was the to go container as the jalapeño lime cream sauce leaked through the new container that is no longer made from a plastic type material but a recycled corrugated one. read more

Have cravings for dessert....look no further than here! Pumpkin cheesecake. I'm not a fan of cheesecake, however this is an exception. Shared with my hubby a creamy texture with a rich pumpkin flavor topped with homemade whipped cream, sprinkle of cinnamon. Not overly sweet. Perfect size to share. We love coming to the copper top and this time we went for my sister's birthday. Surprisingly very busy for a Tuesday afternoon but was seated within 20 minutes of putting our name down. We all ended up just getting entrees and they came out fast. Our waiter was great and always checking in on us if we needed anything and getting refills without asking. The chicken tenders my sister got were huge and a lot for one meal. She took half of them home. My mom and I got bang bang chicken noodles. We love this entree as it's super creamy and we both take home more than half of it with how much you get. My birthday sister got the kung pao noodles and ate it all. She loved it, it has a little more spice in my opinion and has a teriyaki soy flavor. Overall a good time and we continue to go back. read more

It doesn't get more homey than this. Copper top is undoubtedly Syracuse's neighbor spot, and I clearly see why. Beer, spirits, and a massive menu of delicious food...what's not to love? Copper Top is fresh made, in-house. The menu is globally inspired with American, European, and Asian influences. Huge portion sizes with the utmost quality. The avocado egg rolls are a delight, a wonderful marriage of Crispy and creamy. The truffle shoestring fries can feed an army. Would have loved even more truffle flavor but with fries this good, who can complain?! Just looking around the dining area tells you how much this place is loved. During a recent work trip to Syracuse I stumbled upon CopperTop Tavern. A quick google search on maps led me to pics of their dishes and I knew my quest for dinner was over. Upon arriving, we decided to sit at the bar and were welcomed by Shannon. Shannon was AMAZING and provided excellent recommendations for both food and drinks! Shannon let us know about all their specials, and I decided to go with their Wood Fired Wings - WOW! Some of the best wings I've had! The food was so good we decided to come back again the following day - had to get their wings again but also decided to try their pizza. One thing I observed is that all of the bartenders and servers smiled and said hello to everyone - each team member made you feel welcomed! Also bonus points that it was a Wednesday and they have Martinis for $7. This restaurant was crazy busy on a Friday evening as we had to wait 20 minutes for a table. The service was very good and on point. The food was tasty but my soup was very thin considering it was a white bean chili. My husband and I split a salad which had giant chunks of Iceberg lettuce. Lettuce is hard to cut when it is served in a bowl! My husband enjoyed his macaroni and cheese which was layered over a bed of chicken. He had chicken with every bite! The flavor was absolutely divine! I had a delicious adult beverage before my meal. As the evening progressed many of the families with young children went home and the restaurant got quieter. Served with rice 'n beans and guacamole. Prosciutto Chicken Dinner $16.49. Was just ok, not great. Wouldn't order again. Two grilled chicken breasts topped with grilled eggplant, roasted peppers, melted fresh mozzarella, Italian prosciutto, lemon butter and basil. Served with country mashed potatoes and seasonal. Subbed French Fries, they use the string kind. Muffaletta Melt $14.69. Person that ordered this has had better but would order it again as limited restaurants offer this sandwich. Entering Coppertop is always a joy, even when it's not my first time through the door. The inside has a lot of posters and throwbacks to the past which i like, and the general aesthetic of the dining areas is always welcoming and warm whenever i sit down. The table we sat at however was a bit sticky and that was somewhat annoying. Staff was excellent, our server named Abby was really nice and checked on us a lot to make sure we had everything we asked for, and was patient with my grandparents who are pretty old. Nothing to complain about whatsoever. For an appetizer I ordered the French Onion Soup, and of course for my main meal I had to order the chicken tender dinner, though I was really tempted to try one of their burgers(maybe next time!). The soup is easily my favorite french onion soup, it's perfectly sized, with a good amount of cheese and onions, and I like especially that it uses crunchy croutons as I believe a substitute for regular bread. It was also temperature perfect, not super hot and not cold. The chicken tender dinner was pretty straightforward. The tenders have a different fried shell than others I've tried before and I do enjoy them! They have a lot more crunch than other tenders, and when combined with the Santa Fe ranch I was provided, the flavor combination was awesome! When it comes to the fries, I personally do not like shoestring fries, i prefer bigger standard fries but they tasted good. There were so many fries though that I couldn't imagine getting through them all in one day. When i was finished there were still a good few dozen left on the plate. Overall, Coppertop is a really nice comforting restaurant that my family and I have loved for a handful of years. Whenever im in the mood I would always at least come in for a French Onion Soup. The food is always great, and even when im in a down mood or someone with me is, they're always in a much better mood once they've had their meal.
