Every time I visit, they make me feel warm, comfortable, and truly welcome. I previously had a very negative experience with the OB-GYN team at St. Jude Hospital. I understand that doctors see many different situations every day, but for many moms, especially first-time moms, everything feels new and overwhelming. Patients cannot be expected to have the same level of experience or emotional distance as medical professionals. Even when discussing difficult topics such as miscarriage, the doctors here explained that some situations can be medically common or normal, but they did so with genuine empathy and compassion. That made a huge difference. Instead of hearing cold or dismissive words like "we see this all the time," they acknowledged how emotional and personal the experience can be for patients. At this clinic, I truly felt understood and, most importantly, heard. That reassurance meant a lot to me during such an important time.

Granted me and my partner share everything with eachother, the doctor doesn't know our dynamic . Typically, doctors ask these questions in private, either on forms or one on one time, to respect patient privacy and reduce embarrassment or discomfort. Pregnancy is an emotional and important time, and bedside manner matters. Unfortunately, this provider comes across as rushed, dismissive, and lacking compassion. I would not recommend him to anyone looking for attentive, patient-centered prenatal care. Safe to say, we are searching for a new doctor. Also, the front desk girl is very rude. There was a specific lab/test I needed for my health, and Dr. Yu spent extensive time trying to get it ordered through UCLA. She was familiar with the test from having been in private practice, but went to extra lengths to be sure that I could receive the right test. Never have I had a UCLA doctor call after hours to try to help. My fiancé also met her and we both felt good about care at our first appointment. 5 stars.
