My dad passed away last year, and my mom now resides in Memory Care. Overall, they have been part of the Terra Bluffs community for about 2 1/2 years. Management: The management team is attentive, responsive, and very easy to work with. Any questions or needs we've had have been handled quickly and professionally, which gives our family great peace of mind. Caregivers: This is where Terra Bluffs truly shines. The caregivers are compassionate, engaged, and genuinely care about the residents. There appears to be very little turnover, which speaks volumes. They provided excellent care for both of my parents in assisted living and continue to take wonderful care of my mom in Memory Care. A family member who works with many assisted living and memory care communities in South Carolina visited recently and was especially impressed--not just with the facility, but with the genuine connection and attentiveness of the caregivers. Dining: The dining room is beautiful, and the food is well-prepared with a weekly menu and à la carte options. I've dined there myself and have always been pleased with the quality. Family can dine anytime there with the residents for a charge. Also chef usually prepares a special meal during holidays and special occasions. Activities: There is a wide variety of activities that keep residents engaged, including offsite outings, which adds to the overall experience. Just attended a ventriloquist show and thoroughly enjoyed it. Maintenance: they are on top of keeping the facility maintained and requests are quickly taken care of. Apartments: The apartments are spacious and well-designed, ranging from studios to two-bedroom units. My parents lived in a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment, and it was both comfortable and roomy.Washer/dryer combo in each room. Overall, I am very grateful for the care and support Terra Bluffs has provided to our family. It's a beautiful community with a truly caring staff. The home care service I was using at the time referred me to Phil Hotaling and what a blessing that was! Phil helped me understand so many issues when it came to being in assisted living and what was and what was not provided. He arranged visits with different homes and together we toured each one. He guided me through the questions and issues pertinent to each home. I selected a wonderful place for Mom! The assisted living home has room for 8 residents and is run by a fantastic couple who live there with their two children. Mom is happy there and I'm happy she is well taken care of by loving caring people. I would never have found this place on my own without Phil's help. Her rehab team helped get her so much stronger mentally and she loved them. She is now a patient in longterm care skilled nursing and as hard as this transition has been when we go visit her daily-she is active and embracing the amazing things they have to offer. It gives us a peace of mind. Starting with Jasmine, Tasha and Ashley(staff) I cant say enough amazing things about them. When you are faced with a hard transition like this for a loved one its never easy. The staff at this facility has made our experience so easy and we feel very comfortable with our loved one and her level of care. They listen and work hard to make things good for their patients and family. So far our mom has loved the activities and the food. After our first experience we feel so blessed our mom is where she is!!!

My husband called for Ensure protein drink 7 times in one day because he never received it, even though they said, "I'll be right back." His kidney doctor had recommended it but apparently his opinion didn't matter. I went to King Sooper and bought some and put it in a cooler full of ice and took it to him. When we left to bring him home, an RN hooked him up to the portable oxygen tank...... and never turned the oxygen ON. He rode for half an hour home with zero oxygen. By the time we got home, he nearly collapsed in the garage with his walker, trying to get in the house. It isn't like this was just any old business this is supposed to be a HEALTH CARE facility. If you have a loved one in this facility, visit EVERY day and take and problems they are having seriously.

After having experienced two grandparents in the general retirement area, and one of those grandparents later in memory care, I can say with confidence that the family chose well with Morning Star. Yes. There are always difficulties in communication, insurance, billing, and everything else that you might expect from dealing with any sort of business entity at all. This simply comes with the territory. But what makes me happy with how my grandparents lived out their time at Morning Star is the respect, dignity, and help that they got from a great staff. If my grandfather was feeling ill, the staff would bring soup to his room. If he needed help with medicine, there were services to assist in managing his pills. Finally when he died, the staff was helpful to the family in planning for my grandmother. In memory care, my grandmother was taken to every meal, she was brought to the daily activity session, and was never just left in her room to fade away. Her defiance was met with patience, and the staff always let us know about anything she might need (socks, pants, etc.) The last few years of someone's life is an uncomfortable topic. Death is an uncomfortable topic. But I'm so happy that Morning Star made my grandparents last days more bearable.
