Unfortunately, my mother was a resident of Holly Heights Nursing Care Center and Rehabilitation…read morefrom December, 2023 to December, 2024. She passed away on December 3, 2024. I believe the extremely poor quality of her life there, and the lack of medical attention shortened her life significantly. During the first six months of her residency, she received subpar day-to-day care. She did have one CNA that she really liked, but she left when management changed. Complaints during this time period included being soiled for extended periods, slow response to the call button (upward of an hour), filthy living conditions, a mouse infestation, no emotional support and overall rude management that dismissed the family's concerns. My mother's vision greatly declined so it was hard for her to use a phone. We had to rely on staff to bring her a phone to have any type of communication. The staff was always so put out with this request, and would often hang up on family members. You were lucky if someone even answered the phone! It was hit or miss. Fast forward to September, 2024. This is when my mother truly suffered and declined. Ownership changed, which included a whole new administrative staff. They also cut staff and wages for existing employees (which was relayed to me by one staff member). Mom suffered a stroke that sent her to the hospital. Unfortunately, the stroke was undiagnosed by the hospital. She should have had an MRI performed. While in the hospital, she was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. This to me, is a result of her not receiving proper hygiene care from staff. The biggest health concern, is that my mother was complaining of lower abdomen pain. This was ignored by the staff, doctor and social worker that got involved due to the family constantly asking for help. Because the facility refused to have additional testing done, the family had to go outside of the facility for further testing. As a result of a CT Scan, it was recommended that a colonoscopy be performed. By the time we got the clearance for this procedure from the Cardiologist, it was too late. We waited 8 months for this health condition to be addressed by the facility. My mother was just too weak for the procedure. I believe she had a serious health condition, as this was a hereditary condition that we were concerned about. The food menu changed dramatically once ownership changed. Many food items were discontinued, and food quality was so bad. Many residents complained of how awful the food is. How do I know this? Well, because many residents shared this with me. The food was so bad, that my mother had no desire to eat. Also, due to her stroke, she was unable to properly feed herself. The food was just dropped on her table. She had to fend for herself, and it was a real struggle for her. Every time family visited my Mother, we consistently had to clean off the food that was slopped on her chest, bedding and the floor. She was not able to hold a cup without spilling the contents all over herself and floor. We eventually purchased a non-spill cup for her. My mother was severely depressed in this facility and declined quickly as a result of living conditions and lack of empathy from the staff. The activity director only visited my mother one time (toward end of life). My mother's existence consisted of laying in bed all day, with headphones attached, listening to the same TV program over and over again. Unfortunately, I was out of state, so my visits were not as frequent as I'd like. They did become more frequent once I learned of the appalling living conditions. When I did visit, I was shocked, deeply saddened at what my poor mother succumbed to. She felt helpless and just checked out emotionally. All of the above was reported to the facility, Ombudsman, Colorado Health Department and Adult Protective Services. An inspection was completed by the Health Department 1 1/2 months from my initial complaint. This was just too late. The facility was fully aware of pending inspections from various agencies, so they were able to portray a false impression of what normal conditions are really like because of the heads up. It should be noted, that the staff often blamed my mother the lack of her care. So, let's blame a stroke victim for her declining care? It's just easier for them this way I guess. She did this because she dreaded interacting with many employees, especially the social worker and the new management team. Her concerns fell on deaf ears. This is so shameful and inexcusable! Sadly, new management (director and nursing director) was not accountable in any way for the lack of care for my mother. I was told that weekly communication with the family was a courtesy only and should not be expected, and that they had lives outside of work. Yep, that's what we were told on a phone conference. If you are considering Holly Heights for the care of your loved one, please do your due diligence!

Having both my parents in assistant living in AZ and now working with other families I have seen many . But I wanted to take the time to write a quick review about Lincoln meadows as I honestly can say they are up there on the scale of my favorite places to work and had I known this years ago would of moved my folks there. Staff is amazing and love their compassion for their residence, very clean, price I hear is comparable ,food is better than most and location is even better. Somebody from management is always available to address any concerns that I might have about my parents. I believe my parents are receiving the best care available. My dad requires a lot more care than my mother does and moving them. My dad is thriving too, and has been working with the therapy people that are in this place. The food is wonderful and I try to eat here every weekend with my folks.

Choosing a facility to house an ill loved one is a very difficult choice, especially when you aren't there to actually tour the places in person. Do they have 24 hour nursing care? Do they have onsite drs from their insurance? Dental? Podiatry? Is there room to walk? How much does it cost? Is it a good value? How are the reviews? How is the memory care? Those are just some of the things you'll wonder about. So many concerns! First off, I was very impressed with the level of care and the amount of time that Cameron put in with my family in helping us with this decision. First was with my sister who spent some time and did a tour in person, and decided on one place, but after moving closer to finalizing it, there were some red flags and we decided to look at our choices again. Then my wife and I got involved and found several more possibilities, with Cameron's help, and Cameron set up zoom call tours for all of us, which we did, and unlike I was expecting, the zoom tours were actually very helpful and were excellent at familiarizing ourselves with the details of each place. We really did get great additional choices without being there. Cameron attended the entire zoom call for each of our zoom appointments, as well as spending a lot of time answering my long and detailed emails with questions before that. Overall, she invested hours and hours helping my family make a tough choice, and she earned every penny she made doing it. I HIGHLY recommend getting Cameron's help if you need to find a place for your loved ones in the Denver area. Because of all Cameron did, we were able to find a superior facility to the first one, that also cost less and had better amenities and care than the original one. THANKS CAMERON!!

My point of contact, Josh, was consistently professional, proactive, courteous, and helpful -- guiding me through each step with compassion and clarity. Ashley, the Head RN, demonstrated not only exceptional medical knowledge but also genuine warmth and empathy. She didn't just supervise the team -- she was right there alongside the CNAs, delivering hands-on care with the same dedication and heart. She always listened and answered every question with patience, offered support, prepared me for the changes ahead, and -- most importantly -- treated Vera with the utmost dignity and respect she deserved. The CNAs were equally remarkable -- caring, attentive, and loving in every interaction. They, as with Ashley, were always punctual and lit up the room with their positive, loving energy, which on many occasions prompted Vera to share a long-hidden smile of happiness and sometimes even an enthusiastic "hi!" That was six days ago! Michelle presents herself as an influential positive role model evidenced w/her compassion, how she went the extra mile & performed @ her upmost best!...NOT!!!...SHE GHOSTED ME!!!...I guess this is how she operates her company. The Libby Bortz Center is very clean and the nurses aides are very efficient! My only reason for…read morenot the five stars is the food that they served my mom when I transported her from New Orleans. In my family, dumping a family member in a nursing home is a sin!! But the Libby Bortz Center is very good in their care. I felt guilty during at that time, but I just sold my home in Five Points and moved south to Littleton so my mom would more be more safe and I know friends that can take care of her while I'm at work. But the center is excellent in its care and also designed for people with low to moderate incomes and your timing has to spot on to get a temporary room. You will see an older TV in the room on my photo - it did have a remote control with it.

He says this is his home now and he will never leave until the end. This is a beautiful clean facility that does not smell like many other senior homes. A month after moving into his room he had to have Open Heart Surgery. His motivation was the loved he had already received in his "new family at Libby Bortz". The love and amazing care given made him recover faster to get home. The staff sent him cards and called to see how he was doing. I could have never imagined a place to take such good care of my dad. Every Friday they come in and clean his room and take his laundry to be cleaned. They strip the bed and put clean sheets on the bed. When I say they clean, they really clean thoroughly. The pictures, blinds everything is spotless. Then the clothes are returned and folded very nicely. In the dining room they are given assigned seating which my dad loves as it feels like a family. The food is always delicious and the wait staff treats him very special. They make sure all are accounted for at meals which means a lot to our family. He is given a snack at bedtime so it is just more love given to check that he is doing fine. They have activities daily which he likes to attend including exercise class. They do it all from haircuts to a foot clinic and a in home doctors group comes in every few weeks. Libby Bortz is a shining example of what senior care should look like. Infact, they should be the model for our country. It shows how good management and a good price point can bring together people to love our seniors as they age. Aging with dignity and love is this wonderful facility.

You always worry about giving up the care of your family to strangers. It cannot he helped. Their…read morehealth, wellness, and daily activities are forever changed, and you have to hope that you haven't chosen a terrible place for their final years. After having experienced two grandparents in the general retirement area, and one of those grandparents later in memory care, I can say with confidence that the family chose well with Morning Star. Yes. There are always difficulties in communication, insurance, billing, and everything else that you might expect from dealing with any sort of business entity at all. This simply comes with the territory. But what makes me happy with how my grandparents lived out their time at Morning Star is the respect, dignity, and help that they got from a great staff. If my grandfather was feeling ill, the staff would bring soup to his room. If he needed help with medicine, there were services to assist in managing his pills. Finally when he died, the staff was helpful to the family in planning for my grandmother. In memory care, my grandmother was taken to every meal, she was brought to the daily activity session, and was never just left in her room to fade away. Her defiance was met with patience, and the staff always let us know about anything she might need (socks, pants, etc.) The last few years of someone's life is an uncomfortable topic. Death is an uncomfortable topic. But I'm so happy that Morning Star made my grandparents last days more bearable.
