I would give ZERO stars if I could. I booked a consultation with Dr. Parimal Sapovadia (Dr. Perry) because this office would take my insurance with a referral from my dentist for a consultation. It was NOT guaranteed that my insurance would approve dental surgery with sedation. Before I went to the consultation, I googled Dr. Perry (please do so yourself, has HORRIBLE reviews on every medical website you look up). When I arrived at Park Dental Specialists, the male receptionist was incredibly RUDE, make me constantly wait even though all he was doing was chatting with another staff member about nothing. Finally he left to go somewhere, and I walked up to the counter to speak with the female receptionist who was incredibly nice. The female receptionist was the only positive part of this consultation. When I was taken back to have vitals taken, I was taken back by 3 women, which is incredibly chaotic. You DO NOT need 3 people to take vitals, especially when you're someone who already has immense anxiety about the dentist. None of them seemed to know what was happening. Not to mention, it took the doctor forever to come into the consultation. He barely answered my questions and seemed like he couldn't be bothered and had better things to do with his day. He was also late for my appointment because while I was waiting for the appointment to begin, he walked through the waiting room to go somewhere to get lunch - If you have a scheduled appointment, you shouldn't be eating lunch during the appointment time. Because I felt I had no other options, I made an appointment against my better judgement. After leaving the appointment at Park Dental Specialists, I had instant panic and extreme anxiety - all day, everyday, for WEEKS. After WEEKS of extreme anxiety, I canceled my appointment with Park Dental Specialists and Dr. Perry and made an appoint meant at Ora Oral Surgery on Clark St. with Dr. Koos (Dr. Koos is phenomenal - please go read my review on their page - Dr. Koos also specializes in Dental Implants - I see A LOT of people have had A LOT of issues with dental implants at Lincoln Park Dental Specialists). I would like to correct something in my previous review. I was told that my insurance would cover 10% not 90% and I've added few more comments. As of today I still have not received my results regarding my biopsy, 2 and half weeks later!!! They know it takes 6 weeks for insurance approval but ignored this and scheduled my appointment for a time they knew that they would not have approval. Such an awful experience, DO NOT GO HERE. I got all my wisdom teeth out and they did a hack job. Their after care instructions were unclear, they make you walk down the stairs of the back of building while you're all drugged up (I'm sure people have fallen) and they didn't even provide two ice packs for me when I got all 4 out. Here's the kicker though. I had to go back FOUR times after because I was in so much pain. When I went back in they had some new guy (Dr. Jacob I believe) take a look at it and he just told me to take more advil...wouldn't even prescribe me real pain medicine. Then two days later I go back and they tell me I have a dry socket...so they put a packing in which hurt like hell. Then I go back in for them to take the packing out and they can't find it so they tell me it was dissolvable. 7 WEEKS LATER THE PACKING POPS OUT OF MY GUMS. Let me start by saying that Rafi is very nice and attentive. However, Mindy has no bedside manners, she doesn't even look at you while rattling off instructions. She should not be working with patients as she seems to hate her job. My son had general anesthesia for wisdom teeth extraction. They don't provide a light blanket or anything while recovering. I literally had to chase Mindy to get answers to my questions. I asked for the manager, Gerald, but he wasn't there today. The person acting as "manager" did not seem to care. I had a gum graft surgery here in February and have been for several follow-up appointments since. Moreover, I have spoken with my regular dentist about my negative experiences at LPDS and she has corroborated them from what she has heard from her other patients: the surgeons are good but communication with the office and staff is frighteningly bad. From the moment my surgery was over [and Dr. Manos truly was a good surgeon], almost any email or voicemail left for the office was ignored - and in that first week after a surgery, most patients are likely to have many questions about their recovery and the absence of communication was alarming. After my most recent follow up, I sent an email to Rob, at the front desk, with a fairly basic but important-to-me question about brushing the surgical site. He responded with a very curt and slightly unpleasant message about sending my question on to the surgical team. And from that point forward, there was no response, despite many further attempts to contact the office with this basic question. When it comes to dental care, especially any which involves surgery, communication is key. LPDS failed at this at almost every turn. Dr. Zickman is amazing and does great work! However, dealing with anyone else in this office is always very unpleasant. There is more focus on getting your money than providing communication, explanation, or a positive experience. I have been to this office about 5/6 times during the process of getting teeth pulled, an implant put in, and a crown lengthening. I have had to wait for a minimum of 30-45 minutes in the waiting room for each appointment. At my last appointment I wasn't seen until an hour past my scheduled appointment even though I arrived 15 minutes early. The receptionists are ALWAYS rude whether you are calling to make an appointment or checking in at the office. You get a feeling that you are really inconveniencing them by asking them to do their job. It's a wonderful experience to muster up the mental ability to go get some serious dental work done here - all to be met with an unpleasant man/woman at the front desk who has immediate attitude and does the opposite of put you at ease from the moment you walk into the office. I would encourage you to be on top of the bills you receive and the amounts you are charged - especially if your insurance changes. I was told at an appointment in November that I owe $800 (unknown to me) because my insurance changed. It did change...In January and I had been at the office multiple times since then. I don't know about the negative reviews but each time that we visited LPDS EVERYONE I mean EVERYONE was professional and friendly. On June 15, 2023, we saw Dr. Sapovadia and his assistant Lisha, who was extremely friendly and helpful, to have six teeth extracted. They were informative, kind, patient, and most importantly gentle. Dr. Lee is amazing, did great work, and made me feel very at ease and comfortable during my appointment! However, the billing department and front desk have been completely the opposite in terms of welcoming or efficient. I was sent a bill three times for a large sum because they hadn't billed my secondary insurance, something I called and asked them to do multiple times. Each time I called to check the status of my bill the receptionist had an attitude with my request, even when it was a mistake on their end and not mine. Then I started getting late fees added to my bill and when I called to get it sorted out the receptionist seemed angry that I was questioning the amount on the bill and had an attitude over my questions. I asked her to send me the most updated version and finally got the correct amount that was covered by my insurance. The inefficiency of their billing system and unpleasantness of reception really took away from my experience here, but Dr. Lee is a great dentist. read more

I would like no stars as LPD is horrible! These people charged me a $150.00 (seems a bit excessive) for a missed appointment fee even though I cancelled via email 60 minutes after they sent the email (I have sent them copies of the email). In addition they have charged me for services and indicated I did not pay however, I have always had to pay at the conclusion of my visit before I could schedule the next visit, so how did I have a balance (retaliation for cancelling my appointment)? When I checked with my provider they indicated all bills had been paid. When I requested the specific charge from this office I get a historical printout of all my appointments with no way of identifying the specific alleged unpaid charge. I have no problems paying my bills but will never give money away to a company I compare to an extortionist. I've been here three times to get a tooth surgery done. The first time they failed to complete my surgery and were only able to do the tooth extraction but not the bonding so they rescheduled to attempt again. The day of my appointment the doctor cancelled and I had to wait several months for this procedure. I agreed to reschedule 3 months later and I come in and the doctor was not available once again. This place fails to do their job & as a team & as a doctor they should be held accountable for their failure to even agree upon a set date. DO NOT COME HERE. Upon arrival, I was asked to pay in full. I told them, I will pay later as I did not bring the right credit card. When I got home, they called. On day of procedure after 12 hours of fasting and taking off from my work and taking her off school and waiting 1 hours in waiting area ,he canceled the procedure inside the procedure room because he asked the 8 years old if is okay to put IV line and she refused, and then he left and he said he doesn't have time to deal with her, whenever she is ready she can schedule the procedure again. I didn't know the kids are in charge to make decision regarding their health and wellness, even though when my daughter was willing to do it, he said not today. I was very disappointed and is look like time counts against you. they are checking their watch to make sure that you are out the door on time. ZERO STARS 1. This is a factory. 2. The front office staff is poorly trained. They are too busy visiting with each other to bother to process your information correctly on check-in or check-out. For example, they had to call me back after I had left, in order to give me the "dental treatment plan", which is the outline of the procedures and costs. No one bothered to explain or go through it; it was folded and handed to me on my way out after my second appointment. 3. Their practitioners are rude and do not provide you with accurate information. The periodontist who saw me at the time of my first appointment did something that in my opinion is unethical: he entered notes into my record that he never discussed with me. I learned from their endodontist at the second appointment what was recorded in the notes, because the endodontist was surprised by my reaction when he declined to do a root canal. He told me that he couldn't tell from the x-rays what the actual condition of the tooth was ("since the tooth is going to have to be extracted at some future point anyway and the periodontist told you this"). He then attempted to send me back to the periodontist for an immediate extraction. The endodontist was rude and didn't bother to introduce himself; and after being 10 minutes late for our appointment, he spent less than one minute with me. 4. The practice is poorly coordinated. The periodontist was absent on the day when the endodontist tried to send me back to him. 5. Information about the procedures (root canal, extractions, etc.) is not provided by a dental professional. The process of extraction and subsequent implant/possible bone grafting was explained to me by a dental assistant, who has no formal education in the field of dentistry. My medical history, which would have influenced the decision to have an extraction, was not considered, nor was it reviewed by the periodontist relative to the recommendation of the extraction. 6. Time counts against you. You get a certain allotment of time for your appointment. They rush the procedures, and they are checking their watch to make sure that you are out the door on time. The dental assistant told me they didn't have time to do an extraction that day ("so they'll try an antibiotic") and wished me luck. 7. Facts and answers are not offered. I wanted facts about my tooth ("how can we ascertain if it's broken?"); I was leaving for a trip in a few days ("could I fly after an extraction?"); and I wanted to know if I might have an infection ("does pain indicate an infection"?). They sent in yet a third practitioner, who gave me a prescription and told me to call in 10 days. 8. There is no written information about the processes or post-procedure care. Nothing about alternatives was offered or discussed. 9. Observe the other patients in the waiting room. They are unhappy and in obvious distress. 10. Get a second opinion and go elsewhere. read more

I got a bone and gum graft to restore a failing implant at this practice. Although it's still healing, I can say that at every step Dr. Mackler and the whole staff have been extremely kind, compassionate, and accommodating. So far, everything is looking great on the graft healing, and I have called several times with questions. Today Nydia reassured me about a concern that I had - she was so knowledgeable but also kind - she listened to my whole situation and gave me a recommendation (and peace of mind!). Dr. Mackler explained everything about my procedure and aftercare and patiently listened while I unloaded all of my fears about it. He is also clearly expert in periodontics. I have had horrible experiences with dentists in the past, but I actually trust him. Highly recommend if you need professionals who also treat you like a human being. read more

My experience at LDS was great until after my treatment. The LDS billing team is unbelievably rude and disorganized. They didn't alert me about issues with my bill for months and then after we started to resolve the problems, still threatened to send me to collections. It's been over a year now since my date of service and my bill is still not resolved. Folks are mysteriously away from their desks whenever you call, and simple emails go unanswered for weeks. Even though my claim received special attention, it was still nearly impossible to receive timely answers to critical billing questions. If you have a 9-5, it will be tough to have any billing issues resolved without taking vacation days. Even though my service was pleasant, I regret using Lincoln Park Dental specialists and wish my dentist had recommended a different provider. read more

I was recommended by my generalist to Dr. Zickman for a tooth extraction. I want to start out by saying that he and his assistant would get 5 stars if I was just rating them. They were friendly and made me feel at ease. Dr. Z even joked around with me and treated like I was someone he had worked on before, even though it was my first visit. Overall, I would highly recommend Dr. Zickman....he was amazing. Funny as well as professional. As for the front part of the office, they need to improve scheduling. My appointment was for 11:45 am but I didn't actually get into the chair until about 12:45 pm. They should strongly consider putting the forms online so patients can fill them out in advance and they should also do the leg work on your insurance before you walk in the door. Lincoln Park Dental Specialists came recommended to me by my dentist to address gum recession. I scheduled with Dr. Mackler who was a very thorough and knowledgable periodontist who explained a grafting procedure in detail after an initial diagnosis and assessment. He and his entire team were not only highly professional but wonderfully caring and down-to-earth people who put me at ease and made the entire experience a welcomed one. In fact, I was so at ease during the surgical procedure that at one point I literally napped off. From start to finish, the entire team was very attentive and Dr. Mackler and his team did a great job explaining post-operative care and follow-up procedures. My procedure was a great success and addressed an issue that not only will help persevere my teeth but also prevent secondary health risks associated with gum disease such as heart and brain ailments. I went to this location for a tooth extraction and implant. The oral surgeons themselves were great. However, the whole process involves numerous procedures, each with a series of follow up visits, and at every visit the assistant would ask me when my last visit was and how many weeks I was out from my last procedure. I'm not sure why this information was not immediately available in my patient file, and how I was expected to keep track of all of these visits. In a few instances, they had it recorded incorrectly. Separately, my interactions with the office staff who answer the phones have been the absolute worst customer service experiences of my life. They are rude and condescending. I needed help understanding my insurance benefits (especially given the fact that a tooth extraction and implant are not everyday occurrences for most patients) and they were incredibly rude and unhelpful. My last phone call was simple - please email my files to my dentist so that they can have my records for the crown. Instead of being able to fulfill a simple request, they gave me excuses about how it would be easier for them to email it to me and have me send it to my dentist - all because I would have to sign a release which I was more than willing to sign! If you do go to this place (like I said, the surgeons themselves are fine) please go in with very low expectations about the service you will receive from the office staff. read more

The fundamental thing about this place is they do good work. While sometimes I've waited longer than I'd like, once they see you everyone is incredibly nice (the nicest set of doctors and assistants I've ever met).
