Pretty ok to nasty food and bad service. Went for brunch and got steak and eggs. The steak was pretty good, but the scrambled eggs were pretty rubbery and not the smooth silky restaurant quality eggs you expect. I got a bloody mary, and it had a disgusting amount of onion powder in it. All I could taste was onion. For afternoon drinks, dinner, or late-night drinking, Linda's is great. The patio in the summer is one of the best. Drinks are average and priced well, nothing fancy schmancy. The macaroni and cheese is really, really good for dinner! However....I am over brunch at Linda's. TWO STARS for that. Done with it. I have been at least ten times and it's really spotty. I work in a restaurant so I have an unusually high tolerance for bad service because I've experienced the hell of high-volume shifts, but seriously.... The waitstaff themselves are great, but their support (hostesses, bussers, etc.) leave a lot to be desired. Food is very hit-or-miss. The last time I went (which really will be the last time...) my pancake was incinerated the first time around, and the replacement cake was liquid batter hidden by a thin cooked shell. Obviously the grill was too hot, but wtf. That shouldn't be happening... The pitcher of mimosas is a really good deal so if I get talked into going back it will be for that, and I will have a snack at home first. read more

An awesome time was had here, by me, last night. Yep, awesome! I had three gin + sodas because I had the next day off...so I figured three would be a good number. But then after drinking them, wow, perhaps two would have been OK. These drinks were STRONG...and because we showed up during happy hour, they were CHEAP! (See?? Awesome!!) Food seemed necessary too, considering I hadn't really eaten dinner. My g/f and I decided to split...ummm...I don't remember what it was called. It was a sandwich w/ lots of veggies and we opted for a salad instead of fries. Delicious on both counts. Linda's has a pretty laid back atmosphere. I suppose it does tend to attract the "too cool for school" type crowd but for the most part I like the atmosphere and the people. It gets crowded during happy hour and on the weekends but rarely feels truly cramped. The back patio is awesome during the summer and even when the weather is colder they do have heaters out there (most of which work) so that helps when it gets too crowded inside. The staff are all nice and do their jobs well. Their prices are decent and the food is pretty good though I rarely eat here. Their happy hour is 7-9 which is a nice bonus for someone like me who gets off work a little late sometimes. There isn't anything particularly special about this place but maybe that's why I like it so much. It's easy to meet friends here and just hang out and have fun. read more

My favorite Sunday brunch. No, it's not the place to go for a big group or to bring your grandmother, but it's perfect for just a couple of friends. I have a lot of thoughts about Linda's, so I'll sum it up in a list: PROS: -Perfect greasy spoon style breakfast food. My favorite is the Alamo scramble- a chorizo and jack cheese scramble with crispy hash browns. -Dog friendly -Plays entertaining music. Sometimes 70s rock, sometimes pop music from 1999, but always a conversation piece -Cheap food and drinks -Large outside patio and outside bar for nice weather CONS: - Brunch can be over an hour wait, and I am never confident that the hostess has it all under control -Spotty service- some days we luck out and get a good server, but sometimes it's pretty bad. Food waits are long on busy days -Really strong drinks at night (and suuuuper crowded). Some people may like this, but I don't like not being able to sip at my drink without grimacing. -Sometimes the music is weirdly loud In summary, I love it, but know some people (like my poor fiance who sometimes gets dragged in to the hour long wait) who just don't "get it". I go here pretty often, but I am only giving in three stars because the food is only OK. I've been here for brunch many, many times and never eaten something I thought was good, everything was OK, but not good. The drinks are good though, so it is a good place to get some reasonably priced drinks whether that be during brunch or at night. They also have an outdoor patio with tables, which is a big draw, since not many places in Seattle have a patio. This place is famous among Seattlites because it was apparently the last place Kurt Cobain was seen, which ultimately makes it pretty awesome. I would definitely recommend checking this place out, if you are looking for a relaxing environment to have some drinks, it doesn't get super crowded usually, or if you want to sit outside, but it is not a great place if you are looking to have an awesome meal. read more

I like Linda's. I like the low-key and relaxed vibe of the place, I like that I can bring my pup, and I like their drinks. But their bartending staff is enough to make me never step into this bar again. The last three times I've been there, I've witnessed some of the rudest behavior from a bartender that I've ever seen. Yes, Please! I have been living around the corner from Linda's for a year now and had not managed to walk in. I love me some carby comfort food and a beer so I kind of always wanted to... but it just didnt happen for whatever reason. Finally the other day a girlfriend and I decided to go there for a drink and some fish and chips after work (my office is also right around the corner). The second I walked in I was kicking myself for never having entered before. The atmosphere was everything I love about living on Capitol Hill; hip people, guys whos sexual preference I cant guess and who dont care about mine. It walks a fine line on being pretentious and I was looking for that left and right but in the couple of hours I was there, I didnt see it. It was a beautiful Seattle summer evening so we opted for the patio. So, the patio... I am from Arizona and most if not all bars were patio bars, especially in the college town I lived in. I had not been to a bonafide patio bar since I came here and was pleased to find a private, outdoors and relatively spacious spot. There were no tables but we asked some people if we could share theirs and there was nothing awkward about that. I read a few reviews talking about how it used to be much better and the service is bad but alas, I have been here a year and I expect bad service anywhere from time to time. I dont have high expectations on customer service for most places on the hill. The staff is mostly kids that also live here and I give them the benefit of the doubt when they are slow to refill my water. But, to be clear, their staff behind the bar intimidated me at first but I was surprised how comfortable I felt towards the end. The bartender gave me, what seemed to be a very sincere "thank you" after I closed my tab...eye contact and everything. Historically I guess its where Kurt Cobain spent his final hours and as much as I want to be breezy and brush that off... I like Nirvana and felt sort of honored to be at a bar around the corner from home with such a stamp on rock history. Eh, all of that aside it is a good mix of all the kinds of people that live on the hill and I loved it. I dont, however, love the bars and clubs that the bridge and tunnel people come to (war room, neighbors, r place) but this definitely feels like Capitol Hill residents' own. I hope to go back and enjoy the patio a lot more this summer and the inside once the short dark days of winter come back. read more

While I have been to Linda's twice, once for happy hour and once to finish off the night, I had never encounteres such great service as I did on Friday night by Leah (sp) She was not only very helpful but took a minute or two to chat it up. Which made it more barable to wait for our drinks. She is smart and understands that her job is to help us have a good time. I am at Linda's every Sunday morning, and, if I'm not, chances are I'm wishing I were at Linda's. This is the best brunch experience in Seattle. Just enough grease in your food to feel like you're eating hearty, nothing is every over- or under-cooked, coffee is solid, and mimosas are a bargain. I've never had a bad waiter, though I do tend to prefer Ritchie over others as he always has a hilarious joke to share each weekend (trust me, ask him for the joke of the day). I also like Linda's for night-time drinks, but I tend to steer clear of the weekend nights. read more

The service when I was at Linda's last night was great. The bar tender made a mistake and sent my card home with the wrong person - they were completely open and forthcoming with their fault. They comped my and my pal's tab for the trouble and had my card back to me soon enough. I greatly respect folks when they own up to their mistakes and do what they can to fix the problem. I have worked service jobs and know how stressful they can be and I know that shit happens. Linda's has always been great for brunch and late night revelry. This is a decent dive bar. If you go definitely venture out to the back patio! It's a pretty sweet spot. Despite this, I don't think I'll be back any time soon.Spent 3 hours on a bumble date here, and it was pretty traumatizing. They only got one star because it was the minimum in order to place a review I was visiting from California and the so called "bouncer" or "door man" denied my ID (CA issued Drivers License) but let my group in (some local frequent visitors some with the same CA IDs) Absolutely insulting, in that the 7 years I have been legally able to drink I have NEVER been turned away, my ID not only has the appropriate holographics... (and is NOT horizontal), and has the raised lettering I told him to feel free to take my ID in to confirm it was valid because it would pass any scan or swipe test but the man at the door was so disrespectful and refused to do any of those options in order to confirm Needless to say we went a few doors down to a bar that was happy to confirm that my Drivers License was valid and had a blast elsewhere I'll make sure to let everyone I know to never visit this place... absolutely terrible what an a-hole read more

I just want to take this time to convey how much I enjoyed those two magical hours we spent together Friday evening. Let me first start by saying that as soon as I showed up to your place I was drawn to your jukebox. As I was walking in I heard The Libertines and I felt like you already knew me and were trying to seduce me. Well played on your part I must say. I was quite impressed. We talked about The Libertines for awhile and since you were down, we played around with a couple of more tracks off of their self-titled album. If it feels good, do it right? Indeed. Naturally the fooling around with The Libertines led to a slippery slope of wanting to play Babyshambles and you could tell that I was getting a little excited when pushing your buttons to access that disc. I inserted some coins into your jukebox and proceeded to play a couple of tracks off of "Down in Albion". You then asked me if I wanted to go back to your patio. I was more than obliged and it was great that you have speakers out there so we could hear our music. We sat around on Cedar tables drinking pitchers of Manny's talking about everything from biker bar incidents to commenting on what must have been an ambitious stoner that painted that "color-by-numbers" mural on the wall of your neighbor's building. We then had a stimulating conversation comparing Dirty Pretty Things to Babyshambles and what we liked about them and both agreed that we liked Peter Doherty more than Carl Barat even though Carl Barat is still a rawk gawd. Good times. I don't have to remind you about playing Vampire Weekend, The Kinks, or one of my personal favorites: Unit 4+2's "Concrete and Clay" off of the Rushmore soundtrack. You are my Rushmore Linda. Your bathroom was kind of dirty but given the type of person you are I am willing to look past this. I like you and I hope we can link up again in the future. So, I know I definitely should never be in the service industry. I'm not one to plaster on a fake smile or to bother asking random strangers how their days are going, or how I may help them. It's just not my style. I get the impression that the majority of servers and bartenders at Linda's really shouldn't be in the industry either. They all are too cool for school.... errr.... too cool to serve people, which bugs the f out of me. My return visit to Linda's was pretty forgettable. Strong drinks (although I feel like you could go somewhere cleaner with better tasting drinks for the same price) and same weird atmosphere. Oh, and in case you hadn't noticed, bad service. The one thing that stood out was their outside patio. It was closed my previous visit and it was pretty cool to go out and explore the area. The patio is pretty substantial, has it's own bar and plenty of seating. And I will say that the bartender outside was on her A-game. She was friendly, fast and mixed up a much better drink than the rather awkward, slow bartenders inside. In conclusion, Linda's is very mediocre, they have a cool patio, every hipster in the state of Washington migrates here, and Yelpers pretty much make any outing awesome. read more

The ambiance and history of the place make this tavern a destination for many a Seattle tourist and Hipster. However the service is consistently awful. I live across the street so I have tried to give that bar multiple chances to redeem themselves. However each time I go back the service is worst then the last time. Tonight I went in and the bar was empty there were employees walking around but no one bothered to ask if I needed anything. When the bar tender did manage to talk with me he never made eye or face contact but remained back to me the entire time. I ordered one of their hamburgers and that was really the only good thing I took from this final experience at Linda's. this used to be the watering hole for me and my boys in college and i still kind of have a soft spot for it, no matter how packed and shitty the crowd gets. the back patio is still lots of fun-- you get to sit around outside when it's nice out, even though the hipsters/scenesters get all irritated that they can't smoke anymore. word to the wise: don't even think of coming here by yourself or with just one other person. it's just not that kind of bar. you'll be rubbing elbows and touching tongues with the most beautiful, trendy kids on capitol hill on even the slowest of nights at this bar. this place gets packed and most of the people are regulars who don't mind putting their finger up your butt to get you to scoot over. so make sure to ditch those piss poor pints, man the fuck up, and order a pitcher for the entire table, you pithy fuck. pbr/manny's is the brew here and the bartenders are usually really helpful and pretty fast on their feet. and i don't really know this linda woman, but she has an eye for the sexiest female busers/waitresses. i wish she would bear my children. there's the whole "you're in montana!" vibe with the decor, but whatever the fuck. with one or two pitchers, you get used to the room and unfamiliar faces around you. also, i recently had brunch there for the first time. steak & eggs. they were done up pretty damn good, especially for the price ($10). along with my bloody mary and good company, it made for a fucktacular brunch. god speed you, linda's.
