I spontaneously stopped in here for a couple of beers before an appointment and was pleasantly surprised. I grabbed a seat at the bar and had a couple of Rainiers in tall boy cans while I soaked up the ambiance. There were two TV's at the bar showing 1980's movies and there were several old Seattle beer signs like Rainier and Olympia beer. They even had an old Sonics basketball team pennant hanging behind the bar. My bartender was super friendly and checked up on me regularly. The crowd turned very Amazon-ish as the time went on (due to the proximity to the Amazon Spheres) and got fairly crowded. There was also a big Seahawk home game coming up that evening so a lot of the patrons showing up later were decked out in NFL gear. The bar was fairly skinny but comfy. We had a group gathering at King Leroy since it is very close to Amazon It is actually located right next to the Amazon Spheres in downtown Seattle. Frankly speaking, it is really not an ideal place for a big group because there isn't a separate area for large parties. The layout is a bit odd too as it seems to share space with a burger shop. And that makes the atmosphere a little confusing. When it comes to food, the menu does not offer much variety. Most of the dishes taste like typical American bar food that's been prepped and reheated. Nothing stood out, and I probably would not come here just for the food unless it is convenient for meeting Amazonians since it is on the first floor of one of their buildings. The highlight of the visit was definitely the drinks. Their house cocktails were excellent. I tried the Hibiscus Paloma, which was really good, but the standout was the Lavender French. I know lavender drinks are popular these days, but this one was VERY AMAZING. I'd actually come back to King Leroy just for that cocktail. read more

Right in the heart of Amazon SLU, King Leroy has a trying to dive bar feel to it, except it's clean, has huge natural light windows and some interesting cocktails. Didn't try any of the food here but it looked good. Bar service is quick and attentive. One tip: it may look big but the acoustics of this place is loud, so keep that in mind. read more

Then it got even worse: we ordered three jello shots and, incredibly, two of them arrived with actual mold on top. We each asked for a side of ranch dressing only to discover an additional charge of $2 (a buck each) when paying the bill. That's a little steep... Beer, though, was super. I prefer wine to beer, but every once in a while, the urge grabs me. Or it just matches the food better. How could I resist something called Kitten Mittens?! We came to King Leroy for happy hour which ends at 6p. The wings are really good. I got my wings with the buffalo sauce and it was great. It's only 6 swings, so we also got the tater tots. The tots are decent, but not super filling - probably wouldn't order them again with just two people, but would be good to get for the table with a lot of people. Giving this place one star seems too generous. On a visit to Seattle we wandered into this place in the hopes of getting some food and drink. Sure, we found seats at the bar, but after that we were completely ignored by the TWO people behind the bar (while others were getting served without issue). We eventually got our first drink, and then were once again ignored while everyone else was getting refills and food. At one point one of the staff spent a ridiculously long time replacing the letters on the tap list board instead of possibly checking to see if ANYONE (we were literally directly behind him) needed any drinks/food. The service quality was non-existent, and the overall attitude seemed to scream pretentious unless you were a regular. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! There are SO many other genuinely friendly and welcoming establishments in Seattle there is really no reason to go here imo. read more

I went to King Leroy on a weekend evening, and every weekend there is an all day happy hour. This means that the chicken wings and tater tots (along with cauliflower wings) are half off, and I ordered the chicken wings with buffalo sauce and tater tots with habanero honey sauce. I thought the wings were nice and crispy but still retained good flavor and were juicy. The buffalo sauce seemed to have more of a vinegar flavor, so I wasn't the biggest fan of it. The tater tots were also crispy, and I enjoyed the habanero honey because it was more sweet than spicy. I really appreciated how the food came with moist towelettes. King Leroy has a very casual setting, but it's still good for conversation. You order at the bar counter and can sit down at one of the booths or barstools. There is limited booth seating, but the barstools at the counter were comfortable and had back support. It is 21+ and you're expected to show your ID at the bar counter right when you walk in. read more

Of all the pub style places in the area (I.e., SLU, Belltown, etc.) I have liked this one the best by a long shot. They have a diner feel with the decor like the vinyl seats and jukebox, but still modern enough. Very clean and tidy. The HH specials were also better than usual with the half priced food and several discounted drinks. Many NA cocktails too! We thought the food was well done and super reasonable with the HH prices. Lots of vegetarian options and vegan ones. The cauliflower wings were a HUGE portion like they gave me a whole head of cauliflower so definitely for sharing or hungry hungry hippos occasions. Mine was the latter so I was happy and enjoyed the honey habeñero sauce. The bartender was super friendly and helpful and checked IDs at the door, which was nice too. Cozy small bar in the Amazon area that serves decent food and good drinks. Best of all, if you work at Amazon, this place can connect to the Amazon WPA WiFi, so if you're oncall, you won't have to connect to a VPN and can work directly from the WiFi which is super convenient! The prices are also not too high so you won't feel too bad ordering a lot of stuff during a team outing. The best drink I tried was the Pina Colada. It was their rotating slushy cocktail so they might not have it anymore, but if they do, you have to try it. It was super refreshing and I barely tasted any alcohol. I mostly just got the sweet and tangy pineapple flavor with hints of the aromatic flavor of coconut. The chicken wings here are also pretty good. They came out really hot and crispy so you know they're fresh. I wish they were tossed in sauce instead of sauce coming on the side but otherwise it was a solid chicken wing.
