I was excited about visiting Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural masterpiece, but…read moretheir only open time slot was at 8AM. I thought it would be wise to find a hotel close by rather than risk facing early morning traffic driving in from Pittsburgh. Connellsville was as close as I could get. Sitting on the edge of the Youghiogheny River, this hotel was a welcome sight after a long drive from Pittsburgh. I reserved a room with a King bed and river view. The view proved to be irrelevant because I couldn't see the river in the dark. Just as I entered the room, the fire alarm went off, so I went downstairs to find no one gathered. In fact, the patrons at the lobby bar didn't leave their stools. I couldn't tell when I could return to my room because the front desk staff was nowhere to be seen. A false alarm, I guess. For $127, I found the room satisfactory and quiet enough. Dining options were paltry unless I was willing to drive. There was a casual spot next door, though I walked ten minutes to an alternative spot for sushi. I got up early because Fallingwater was still a 40-minute drive away. They provided a complimentary breakfast which started at 6AM, so I was able to nosh a bit before checking out. RELATED - Exploring the Pittsburgh area? We stayed at Hyatt Place Pittsburgh-North Shore before this Comfort Inn. Amazingly, it was a much better experience. We had two rooms. The rooms are very clean. We had river-side rooms with the view of the river. The location is amazing. It is right on the Youghiogheny River and next to the GAP bike trail. Make sure to ask for a river-view room if possible. There is a nice porch in the back from the breakfast area where you can enjoy the beautiful river and the trains rolling past in the distance. The hotel has a little bar, the rates are very reasonable. Also, make sure you do not miss the restaurant next door, The River's Edge. Really great food, great service. The elevator was not working when we checked in. So we carried the luggages up the stairs. Not a big deal. Still won't take away from a great hotel stay. This Comfort Inn is a hidden gem. We certainly will book again when visiting the area next time.

What a great experience. On our way to Ohiopyle we decided to just stay the night and explore more…read morein the morning. Looking around for some interesting and fun options we stumbled upon this B&B and decided to call to see if there were any openings. We were in luck! We quickly gave them some information and made our way down there. Upon our entry we were greeted warmly by Liberty the proprietor. She was wonderful and made check in super easy. I made myself some tea, helped myself to some gingersnap cookies, and got settled in for the night. The room was spacious and comfortable. The shower had a never ending (or so it seemed) supply of hot water and there was more than enough towels. I quickly felt at easy in the room and knew I would be getting a good nights rest. Breakfast, Liberty informed us, was held at two times, 7:30 and 9am. We picked to have ours early, which I was against, but it turned out wonderful. We got to eat a nice early breakfast and then went back to bed! Check out was at 11 so we got a few more hours of relaxing in before we hit the hiking trails. Yes, a late start, but the bed was too comfortable to leave! Breakfast was delicious. Scrambled eggs, french toast, sausage, and a fruit cup. They had orange juice, coffee, and tea. What a treat! The food was perfect. I could not ask for a better breakfast. This place was perfect. I would stay here again in a second. It was also so close to the attractions of Ohiopyle that it would be stupid not to suggest everyone to stay here!

Liberty and Jim are really wonderful people who own a cozy bed and breakfast. Now I don't know…read moreabout you but I love the country welcoming feel of places and this had that quality. Not to mention the breakfast was fresh and delicious AND. My favorite part.... during the afternoon Liberty put out brownies and cupcakes for treats!!! I'm a pig so that was awesoooome haha. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to be comfortable without spending a ton. About 5 minutes from falling water, 20 minutes from kentuck knob, 10 minutes from the windmills across from the stone quarry (worth a gander!) and I dunno. 10 minutes from Ohiopyle park? VERY close to everything!!!

We have…read morestayed at many different Marriott properties over the years and am sure we will continue to do so. This property, however, fell short of my expectations. There was a major lack of hospitality, which is a very big issue when you're in the hospitality business. It started with the greeting, or should I say, lack of greeting at checkin. They asked my name, looked me up, assigned my room, and sent us on our way. The greeting I'm used to is being called by my name & being thanked for being an elite member. Who doesn't like that little extra effort/ acknowledgment? Then we arrived at our room and saw the extra pillows requested on my reservation were not there. Again, a little thing, but they add up. The room itself was ok. It was a suite so it had the extra seating area which I like. The best thing about the stay was the bed. It was super comfortable! Unfortunately there was an expressway outside our window which made it difficult to sleep at night. The breakfast was at best 'ok'. The set up of the room was strange, with the area for making waffles and getting the other hot foods in a tiny triangle shaped area that couldn't hold more than 2 people comfortably. Wish I had taken a picture. On our 2nd and final morning there, the girl working in this area never got off her phone. She didn't put it down even when people needed her assistance. Were they all bothering her? Checkout was similar to checkin, except the girl working there never even looked up and just nodded her head when I set my key on the counter. Again, a little hospitality goes a long way. Also, the bathroom floor was sticky, and the pool was super cloudy the whole time we were there So we didn't even attempt using it. I'll continue to be a Marriott customer, but sadly, not at this location. 2024-52

Not sure why they gave us that, we didn't ask or need it. Only one available at check in I suppose. Pretty clean, comfortable bed as well. Pretty quiet for as busy as it was. Decent sized breakfast each morning. Shower was just ok. Hot water was really good but the pressure was lacking. Mainly due to the shower head/hose setup I think. Closing off parking spacing in the front lot for tractor trailers was notable as it took up a dozen or so spots people could use otherwise. If you're not really familiar with the area here it could be a little confusing getting up to the hotel but it is pretty centrally located to places to eat and places shop close by with others not to far of a drive. Casino is also not too far away. We'd stay here again when in town visiting and recommend it as well. Signs in lobby did say they were going to be doing remodeling soon, fyi....

When we arrived, we received a friendly greeting from the desk agent and they quickly pulled up our reservation and got us checked in. They gave a good overview of the hotel including telling us where the various amenities were and when they are available. She also clearly explained where the elevators were and which direction we would need to head once we got off the elevators. The room itself was clean and well maintained. It was fairly standard, minimalist and modern in its decor. The bed was soft and there were plenty of pillows (although they were a bit thin, but there were enough of them that that wasn't an issue). There is plenty of space in the room and the TV worked well. It was also nice and quiet. I didn't hear other guests or noise from things like the elevators. The breakfast had a lot of great options and was being attended to regularly to refill anything that needed it. Overall, a great place to spend an evening.
