Growing up my whole family and I went to Linden every year for eye checkups, glasses and contacts. Sadly, their service has gone severely downhill since then. It takes literally hours for a simple yearly eye exam. My sister has been trying to get a refund for contacts she never received and she's been jerked around since Aug 2020 and still hasn't received her money. Decent doctor but takes forever. There's just too much competition to give them a pass for administrative screw ups. I've been coming to Linden Optometry for years. But I've strayed a number of times. I came back this month after a 2-year hiatus. The things that keep me coming back: 1. The wide variety of frames 2. Turn-around time of glasses ready for pick up 3. Communication. Linden is good at reminding you of your next vision exam via postcards or when your stuff is ready for pick up via phone call. 4. Parking is easy and always available in their lot in the back off of Union. 5. They are a clean facility and open every day. The things that have me stray: 1. The waiting time for vision exams is outrageous even with an appointment. 2. The waiting time to order your frame with an optician is outrageous too. 3. And waiting time to pick up your glasses is you guess it, long. 4. Frame prices seem to be overpriced. 5. It is NOT stroller-friendly. There are stairs from the parking lot entrance area. Sure there is a little elevator but who is really going to go get help to have it turned on? Nuisance. Restroom entrance is tiny and a stroller doesn't fit comfortably. 6. I feel like I am treated as a number and not a patient. Overall, I am happy with my frames this year. I might or might not come back next year. read more

This is probably the largest optometry in the Pasadena area. They have quite a number of optometrists and have lots of appointments to get your eyes checked. Unfortunately there's a wide variation of quality and service and still too long of wait times. The selection on the surface seems good except they had to send my glasses out. I was given a 9am appointment for a glaucoma exam. The day prior they called me and asked for my insurance information, which I gave them. A few minutes later they called back and asked for the number to my insurance company and said that they would call me back if there were any issues - they didn't call back. Today, I arrived at 9:02 a.m. and they let me know that I didn't meet my insurance deductible and I'd have to pay out of pocket, AND the doctor wasn't scheduled to come in until 9:30a. They said they didn't know what type of glaucoma test the doctor wanted to run and that I could wait. I finally stood up at 9:45a to see if the doctor had arrived and they called my name once they saw me approaching the desk. They let me know that the doctor was still running late but said that the doctor would offer me 20% off. I asked what the cost would be and they said that I would have to wait for the doctor. So, the only information they got out of their conversation with the doctor was that I would receive 20% off, not which type of exam I needed. I finally left. This was a complete waste of my time! Customer service is horrible, and obviously they don't train that here.‍ read more

I purchased a prescription pair of Maui Jim's here and wanted to have just my lenses replaced with my new prescription and they wanted $450.00 minimum for this. Online Maui Jim will do it for $75-00. This place is such a rip off and I paid about $500-00 for my glasses at this place. Use a smaller independent business with better service and not this meat market that wants to take all your money. Today I went to get a copy of my prescription. I've called a week prior to ask for it. They said they couldn't email me. I have to sign some form. ( they make it really impossible for a simple process, my friend at other clinics are able to get it through email. A 5 mins process versus Linden's old school process. ) anyway, the receptionist told me it would be ready for me at the receptionist desk last week. I came in tonight just to find out it wasn't ready. I waited for an hour and she said that the doctor still wasn't able to sign it. I was so upset and I pressed her to ask for it. It's not fair and so stupid to wait for a copy of prescription for an hour not to mentioned they told me it's ready to pick up. They made it as if it's my fault for not able to wait. I was late for my other appointment thanks to them. I was so upset. There is something seriously wrong with their management and process. The doctor might be great, but if you want to waste a lot of time waiting. You can give it a try. I've been with Linden for 7 years. But I will not go back. They just lost a customer and a patient today. read more

I have been going to Linden for many years for my eye exams and a pair of glasses. This time it took 5 weeks to get my glasses. Now, in the interim, I was able to order a stylish pair of glasses which darken in sunlight about $200-$300 LESS than at Linden. Once I got my prescription at Linden 5 weeks ago, I was able to just go online and order a pair at Zenni which I have been using for several years with NO complaints. The excuse at Linden is that the mail is taking too long because of Covid. I would say this is BS as the other glasses I got in fewer than 5 weeks were ALSO mailed to Zenni FROM CHINA TOO. I called up twice about the status of my glasses and was told yesterday, they were in and to do the drive-through today. Common sense would dictate that one tries on the glasses first (esp after waiting 5 weeks) to ensure they fit correctly. I was told that I would have to make a separate appt for that today when I arrived. Of course, I wasn't told that yesterday when I called. Apparently, there was only ONE employee there today who could do adjustments. Common business sense would suggest that Alan L who owns the business should ensure that there are 3 or more available to do adjustments. The person who goes through taking one's temp etc. wasn't there either, so a line formed outside of 6 or so people waiting in the 104 degree heat. One lady waiting really got upset, and I don't blame her. So, this will be my final visit there. PLEASE go elsewhere as judging from the more recent comments, I am not alone in noticing a SERIOUS downturn in customer awareness and service here. read more

After waiting 45 minutes this time, I left without being seen. The optometrists here are qualified but unless you have nothing else planned for several hours, don't come to Linden; appointment time is meaningless at Linden. I won't be back! read more

Huge selection of designer glasses. Eye exam was quick but waiting for my appointment on a Saturday was a drag, easy 1.5 hrs wait in fact decided to call it and come back to choose a pair of glasses... entirely too many people. On my second visit to select a pair, during the week after 6, very slow almost nobody there I worked with a gal named Saidia. She was amazing, so helpful and pleasant to work with. Highly recommend based on overall experience, service and selection... just avoid the weekend if you hate long lines and mounds of people. Saidia is 5 stars! Loved her! read more

OMG this office is total fraud. I came in to an appt in September, never came to my follow up. They billed my insurance for 24 pairs of contacts I've never gotten and locked my benefits!!!! My insurance called them and they wanted to call them back in 30 minutes to "verify." Thieves. I really hope this business goes out, or at least gets better staff that doesn't f**** sh** up for people. You shouldn't do this to people who have impaired vision!!! You shouldn't do this to anyone. I have been coming here for years with no issue. However, I recently had a bad experience with customer service. From the reviews, looks like I am not the only one! The doctor that examined me was great - that is not the issue. But when I went to order my contact lenses they wanted up front payment before even ordering. I am almost positive I either paid when picking up or when order in their office. Since they didn't know when they would come in i asked if I could pay upon pick up. They said no and that it's like when you order on line for anything - you pay up front. (This was a little over $100, by the way). I said I am not ordering on line - this is my optomitrist! Then the woman kept speaking over me so I got frustrated and asked for a supervisor. They left me on hold. I called back and same questions on date of birth. I said I am unhappy with customer service and I wanted an office manager. They continue to HANG up on me. Also, when calling to order the contacts, I left a message and the doctor left me a message back in a timely manner. I called the office back and left another message with no phone call back. Eventually the doctor called me and said to come in to pick up samples to get me through an upcoming trip. read more

Zero stars actually. I tried one more time with this gutted wreck of a shithole. I needed new glasses and got a very hurried exam. I thought to myself "This optometrist is going too fast, I won't be able to see out of my new glasses". Sure enough, they were incorrect and I couldn't use them! This time I ordered progressives, and it was a complete farce! So I returned them & as they NEVER answer their phones, I had to make another appt. online. The day came and I got another exam from another optometrist (or maintenance man, who can tell really) who wasn't very clear in explaining what was going on and how the 1st guy could get it so wrong. He never apologized for the first sociopath who didn't care about my vision at all. New progressives were re-ordered. I made another appointment online before I rec'd the second pair because I figured they would SCREW UP those too. Which they did!!! It takes a long time to get an appointment. I got my new second pair 3 weeks later AND I COULDN'T SEE THROUGH THEM! I then went to the appointment to complain about how they screwed it up a second time. Both the hasty asian guy behind the counter and another woman who came over (a manager I think) both claimed I just wasn't used to them, which is total bullshit. They utterly dismissed me, believing I didn't know how to hold my head while looking out of the glasses!! I simply couldn't see anything clearly through them, the computer part was completely off, I couldn't use them for work, I couldn't use them to read either. The asian guy was rude and taping up my glasses to "show me" how to look through them. That doesn't matter as I can't see through them when I want to. He said I couldnt return them. The female manager came over and basically chanted the same thing. They made mistakes TWICE & were unwilling to correct them. THAT IS BAD BUSINESS.. in a pandemic no less! I then told her I was getting a headache from putting those glasses on and off so many times AND SHE LAUGHED AT ME! So add insult on top of incompetence and unskilled labor!!! Then she said to me.. she ACTUALLY SAID "We just think you just changed your mind and want readers now because you didn't like these"!!!! I wanted readers because they made two mistakes on the progressives and theres no sense to wait and see that the 3rd pair will also not work!! I guess they are too stupid to realize this logic. They are suspicious of their clients when they make the mistakes!!! I don't have TIME to lie, which is what she was insinuating. She should be fired for talking to people like this. She doesn't realize how unprofessional and toxic it is to say such a thing to a client's face. How very unprofessional. She doesn't belong in management. She is uneducated. I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.. EVER. They are disgusting pieces of shits that don't care about people, and are only interested in the dollar. In fact, I really hope the entire business goes under because that will be their karma and that is what a terrible business like this deserves. It needs to go under as they CLEARLY are not improving. Been going to this place since 1990 and although they treat customers like cattle, I always made exceptions as they tend to have good deals in glasses and lenses. No more. Will never go back to this place again! The most unprofessional staff including their optometrists (some of them even drag their feet as they walk clients into the examination room). While one waits to get their examination done, those "techs" that stand behind the counter chit chatting are NOT cool or hip. In fact, they look very unprofessional ---aside from the fact that they have no people skills. Seems like they barely have a HS education! Rude, obnoxious and straight out idiotic. I've been going to Linden for over 15 years and also had excellent service. I'm not sure what is going on there. I paid almost $700+ dollars for a pair of prescribed coach sunshade, Versace reading glasses and another paid for driving at night (trifocal). My glass prescriptions were not done right, the second time around it was just sitting in the lab (no one knew what to do with it), until I dropped in. By the time I went back two weeks later, it was sent to the wrong lab. I mean totally unbelievable service! Yet, when you get your glasses you have to pay for everything upfront? I don't understand why, let me pay you the difference after they are completed and accurate before I give you all my money upfront (don't you think)? I actually wanted a full refund for all three, but was told they couldn't do so. It took two months for them to get it right (and I hope they are right now) and another eye exam. Whoever answers the phones are just there to answer the phones. They don't know how to take messages and are not doing their jobs. Too many new folks that don't know what they are doing. The system shows as though you are notified that your glasses are ready and you have no record of anyone calling you, but their system shows differently. Stewart say proof that no one called me. He looked at my phone history. One individual hang up on me while I called in. I left Stewart several messages with no one answering me back. To find out Stewart never got the message but he never followed up with me like he said he would. Mena knew I was going to stop by at a certain time, she went to lunch, I never got a call from her. Just overall sloppy service. Stewart, Mena and Jermain can try all they want to do their best and try to make customers happy but at the end of day the struggle to get things right isn't there! I was able to get a mere $80.00 refund which isn't even enough for the frustration and times I dropped by to check on when my glasses would arrive. I would never go back there ever again! Heading to LensCrafters now and I understand why all my 8 family members switched to a new optometry even though they are further away. 20 years ago, Linden Optometry was THE place to go for glasses. Now, they've been resting on their laurels for at least a decade. Frames are WAY overpriced. The service (except from a few long time employees) is awful. Many of the staff don't seem qualified to be fitting glasses or reading prescriptions. The roulette wheel of doctors is a gamble... will you get a good doctor? Your guess is as good as mine? They can't confidently read the results of a glaucoma test and will refer you to another doctor to get another glaucoma test. Why do you even offer one if you don't have an expert that can read it? Both my mother-in-law and I had to get separate glaucoma tests elsewhere... which proved to be confidently negative. Their frame insurance seems like a scam with nothing in writing and details changing when you make a claim. My recommendation is to go frame shopping at Linden's and write down the make and model, find it online and then go straight to Costco for superior service and prices on the exam and lenses. read more

If you want a factory slash eye-wear warehouse feel, come to this place. It was crowded, disorganized, chaotic and simply customer unfriendly. Don't even bother to come without an appointment - the wait might be over an hour. I felt their specialist/ patient ratio is insane, and maximum time they can give to a customer is 15 minutes. Went to Linden years ago because it was close by. Today was the first and LAST time back after the pandemic for me. Had to wait 40 mins for my appointment without any apologies whatsoever. The place is a dump and the optometrist has no bedside manners. Actually pretty insulting and condescending. This place is the definition of a "medical mill." Always trying to sell you something like you're just a cog in their money-making wheel. Thankfully I've got good insurance and the means to go wherever I want. Ordered glasses on 3/8/21 and picked up the order on 4/2. However, it wasn't what I ordered. This is the second year in a row that I did not get what I ordered. They're like a factory, get the customer in and out and get the $$$. I paid for the glasses then a couple days later I received a call informing me that the price is higher. How?? Well, been calling to refill my contacts for a week now, all lines busy. Checked out their online ordering but the price is way higher than what we usually pay, but with no one to talk to I can't ask why. So I starts shopping around. Lo and behold, I found the same contacts at less than 1/2 the price without the hassle of going into an office. I have been coming here years but my most recent experience tells me that I need to find a new place. My fiancé ordered her glasses in February, it took them a month to turn around glasses with a poorly cut lens. We took them back in and had to almost beg for them to get them fixed, and was told they would be expedited...now a month later they are finally "done" again. Funny thing is she called on the April 21st and was told that they weren't in yet...now we call today, April 24th to be told the glasses have been ready since April14th and that "they called and spoke to someone". VSP PEOPLE BEWARE! I knew there was something fishy when Linden Optometry asked me to sign a waiver that I can not make them liable for damaged frames, since now they are required to send all VSP people to an outside lab. The technician said it's a new policy, and the frames usually come back fine. So I trusted her and left my frames with them, and was told it takes 2 weeks to get my lenses installed and sent back to them. If you knew about VSP's shoddy work, you should have a separate option for your costumers to get their lenses fitted at your lab. I would't mind paying up front for it, but instead, you knowingly allowed customers to get their lenses done elsewhere where you knew about they subpar quality of work. Linden Optometry called me 2 weeks after it was sent back from the VSP lab, and I went to pick them up the following day. Had to wait a bit for them to look for my frames, and I started to worry. The guy came back with my frames, and I was happy that I can see with my new prescription lenses. I didn't examine my frames, which was a BIG MISTAKE, before I left. I came home and took a closer look at my new lenses and realized my right lens was out of alignment and the frame is completely bent, where the screw (that keeps the lens in) is bent as well. There's also dried glue around the metal frame and my lenses, as if they had broken my old lenses out from the frames, forced my new lenses to fit, and glued everything together like a triage fix. This is very disappointing, as I have been with Linden for 13 years. I wouldn't be as upset if the technicians who helped me was a honest upfront that my frames were damaged. The guy who adjusted my nose padding couldn't have missed my right lens popping out with the metal frame around it completely crooked/bent, and didn't even bother to tell me about it. Really, Linden Optometry, is this how you train your staff? To turn a blind eye, and let your patients go home with a defective frame? Because of this, you are losing a loyal customer. I really like Dr. Krall as my doctor, but this has left a bad taste in my mouth. Don't worry Linden Optometry, I am also filing a Consumer Affairs Complaint against VSP for their shoddy work. I've gotten 3 pairs of glasses here and this place reminds me of a car dealership. They are always busy, they have some pushy sales people that try to hard sell you, and you need to make sure to do your research before hand so you don't get ripped off. They have a large selection, they sell everything pretty much at retail prices (a.k.a. expensive), they have flexible hours and appointments....so pretty much this is one of those places where you pay more for the convenience. The best tip I can give you is that you need to learn when to say NO. They want you in and out as quickly as possible so they can move on to the next customer. Don't let them bully you into getting glasses that you don't want. One thing they keep telling me is don't worry about the FIT it can be ADJUSTED. Ok, that is just plain BS. You can make minor adjustments but they make it seem like they can just bend the frame to any shape you want. Recently I ordered a pair of glasses and they told me they can bend the arm to wrap around my ears better...i looked at the design and it looks like it might be too thick to be bent that way but wasn't entirely sure so I believed them. When I went to pick up my glasses they said it can't be bent! If I knew that before hand I might not have bought those frames! I also ordered some prescription sunglasses and I asked the lady to save the original sunglasses lenses for me and she said ok. When I went to pick up the glasses they said that the insurance does not release the original lenses! That is some BS right there. Either the first lady was wrong or the second person lost the lenses and made up that lie. I don't know what is worse. read more

I've been coming here for years and yes, you do normally wait awhile until they see you. This is probable the only thing that could improve but it does not bug me for I plan on it. What I Iike about this office is: -Variety of glasses available -Flexibility to get an appointment -The sizing service folks are always so helpful, especially Joseph he has a good eye on what looks good on you -all the doctors I've seen are very nice and attentive. -everyone I've encounter has been nice I'm a fan and I'll drive 40 miles to come here every year. read more

Check into reception, next stop browse, next stop cashier, last stop adjustment. Nice selection, pretty pricey and lackluster service. My mother has been coming to Linden for her prescription for years, so I thought it would be best that I did as well when my eyesight started to go a bit. I visited for the third time this afternoon, and each experience is better than the last. Dr. Cook helped me today, and his friendly demeanor and interesting conversation definitely helped ease the worry around my eyesight getting a bit poorer. Everyone was very kind and helpful in general - the atmosphere isn't cold or harsh, which is a nice change of tune compared to other health offices. I will say that the one con is the wait times. I wasn't in a hurry, so it didn't bother me much, but my appointment was at 11AM yet I saw the doctor at 11:30AM. All in all, everything took less than an hour so I can't complain. read more

TIP-Seriously snail speed service. Why does it take 3 people and 15 to retrieve one box of contacts? I already told you I'm in a hurry and yet you are chatting away with 10 coworkers. PARKING-I noticed they have a private lot. Props esp for pasadena area SERVICE- All I wanted was ONE box of contacts. I strolled in and about half an hour later, I left with one box in tow. Why does it take half an hour to get ONE box of contacts? a)you have to check in with one of seven receptionists b)the receptionists processes your information c)they hand off your information to ANOTHER employee d)that employee chats for 10 minutes while you wait for your single box of contacts e)same employee retrieves them, then tries to push a full year supply on you f)you politely decline, then employee (while holding the single box of contacts you requested) returns to the supply room g)they chat some more h)employee finally is finished chatting then tells you a cashier will ring you up and that you have to wait for an available cashier i)cashier calls, then takes 5 minutes to process my order You get the picture. I give one star review 'cause I can't do zero. I've been waiting on my prescription glasses for a while now. I was told that it'd take about two months but not to worry that I'd be contacted as soon as they were ready. It's been three months now, no emails, no texts, no calls or anything. So, l called and they straight out lied that they emailed me on the 26th of January, even verified my email address again over the phone, which they got right. I had done an email search prior and after but no email was sent to inform me about my glasses being ready. Honestly, I'm outraged. Not coming back to this place for service. read more

on 12/29/2019 i made a mistake to go to Linden, well to starts this place customer service really bad, i purchase 2 par of glasses both with prescriptions one is bifocal AR coating, transitions glasses, u know for walk around out side and read, the other is a Nike 1-25 and 1-50 prescription I expend after my discount $603.30, then all begins, well i got 5 different call because one of then i pick up out of floor, for the frame the i want, so got this one on $262.40 and have put to have my prescription glasses to be on that frame, this frame was on the floor, then they try to give me the black glasses the come with it, but all scratch's, i say no.. i want t new ones, so they call me several time to go by to pick up my glasses, ( they were wrong two time the i went), also the transition , only does 30% of what i was promised from the sale man ( was a really old man cant remember his name), now i got nothing on that guys , excellent customer service but he didn't know ( am assuming) i want to believe the he did not know, also still waiting on what is going to be done with this the i pay for transitions and is not good , same manager she say will call but still nothing . also as well i did request an other Nike, well this frame was a back order for almost 5 month then got it, well not bad , 2 weeks in to leg brock off i call linden they say bring it in, but work wasn't allow to me time issues , then put tape in it so i can still using it the other side brock off , waou was $340.90 par of glasses, i take it back i say a 1.5 moth back to linden, now i explained what happen they say leave it and we will call u back, 3 moth pass by i went to linden, the supervisor say( i call and left a message u never responded) that was a LIE big one, they never call , then she tock me out side, ( funny) she say we wont warranties it because it broke on an area the is impossible to break, well what can i say i was furious, after wafting fo 5 months then use it for a month, she say will call me back and see what can be done, i went back again, because no one call, she say we will give u 10% off on any frame, so i spend $340 total for this Nike witch $178 was for the frame and only want to give me back $17.80 off, i ask to what else can be done, this is not fair call the manufacture, she still saying the manufacture say no warranty , i have the others to read and work but to be sincere i use both no the same time some time , depending what i was doing. So to resume i call back as to talk to owner of the place, leave a message and up to today still not hearing back from then, and FYI we are in Feb. 10 of 2021 purchase day 12/29/2019, still no one call to explaining what is next, i will never go back here , ever, ever, ever. or even recommend it read more

As with so many places that used to be good back in the day - this isn't anymore. Junky now. Woman on the phone argued with me about poly-carbonate being real glass - which, of course, it isn't. Then argued with me about what product I should want, then argued about appointment. Better go to Brighter Optical down the street - sort of like Linden used to be, before chasing Amazon to the bottom of the pile. read more

I love this place!! I haven't been to a eye doctors in over 20 years.. I made the appointment and they call you a week ahead to confirm. When you walk in you are greeted by a friendly staff and helpful too. The nurse station in the back are great. They are helpful and nice.. With a smile in their face. Unlike other places.. The doc that gave me the exam is awesome, concerned, caring and knows how to treat a patient.. The selection of glasses is great too!! So I happy made this my place for optometry... read more

Linden Optometry - Entrance.. - Optometrists Near Me - Pasadena, California

So unhappy with this place I think even giving it one star is to much. I went in April to fix some glasses they said they could not help me unless I make an appointment and they made it there at the moment. I had two pair of glasses done paid over 200.00 with my insurance they said I had to wait 8 WEEKS to get my glasses! wait a minute are glasses not essential? They said they would call they never did I called a couple weeks later they said one pair was ready if I wouldn't of called they would just sit there. I called for the second pair it's been sitting on a shelf since May 6 you kidding me!!There's no excuse Covid 19 or anything else to make sure patients are taken care of or at least communicate specially at this time. There staff have no idea how to help patients there rude and have no experience the Dr.Yang kept looking at his watch every second he looked very distracted. I would not recommend this place to anyone there inexperience will in every approach will stress you out! I read the other reviews I am not alone.
