After being a customer at Linden almost a decade, I am deciding to take my business elsewhere due to their horrific customer service and utter disregard for customer satisfaction. It's not entirely fair to place blame on the pandemic since they were sonewhat functional in 2020. I don't know what happened in 2021, but things went downhill very fast in every aspect from the wait times for the eye exams to the frame purchasing and pick up experience. I waited over an hour for my eye exam appointment and 15 minutes in, the next patient popped his head in the exam room and asked the Dr when he's going to be seen next. Needless to say, afte that point my exam was rushed. During my exam, the Dr received a call on his personal cell phone and he not only answered it, but proceeded to schedule an eye exam for the caller, all while I was waiting for my exam to commence. I thought the front desk handles apppintments. This was beyond unprofessional. When I had to pay the cashier, they had erroneous charges for services I never received. The cashier couldn't make out what the salesperson had written down on a piece of scratch paper, so I had to wait another 30 minutes for them to flag that salesperson down. The charges were still incorrect! I asked for a printed and itemized invoice and the cashier looked at me like I was asking her for Hammurabi's Code. She literally said that it's going to take her a while to print that and after 4 hours of wasting my time at this horrible place, I gave up and handed my credit card. It seems like high pressure sales tactics are necessary when you are losing customers for running a business like a popsicle stand. When I was purchasing my frames, I was told that in 2 weeks I would receive a phone call and email letting me know my frames were ready to be picked up. It was no surprise that I didn't receive any calls or messages, so on week 3, I called them only to be told that my frames WERE ready to be picked up. I waited an hour to pick up my frames and when I asked the intake employee how much longer it was going to take, she very rudely replied that there were other people ahead of me. Mind you, I was the only person in the waiting area and everyone else who was being called in (who arrived after me) went in to the eye exam area. Initially I went to the drive through area to pick up my frames and as soon as the employee behind the glass saw my car, she turned her back on me and walked away. Even pressing the door bell didn't get her attention. I finally got the email alerting me that my frames were ready 10 minutes AFTER I had picked them up! I was going to give Linden another chance, but their lack of professional and utter disregard for customer service is enough for me to take my business to an optometry clinic which appreciates all their customers. read more

To qualify this, my family has been going to Linden for over 25 years. We used to get their coupons in the newspapers to save a few bucks. I know they are understaffed, especially during COVID, so I gave them a break when my appointment was 2 hrs behind schedule. Dr. Alan Limfat was a pretty solid guy. While overworked, he did his best to take his time and complete my eye exam. Triple checked his measurements were correct and sent me on my way. Ultimately, their pricing practices have lead this to be my final visit to Linden. I remember getting contacts with no extra fees. I remember the "contact fitting" surcharge introduced and raised $40. Now I see it's raised, once more, to $69. When a "contact fitting" consists of "here, try these on", I fail to see how the price is justified. With other streamlined options out there, nostalgia alone will not keep me here. read more

Horrible management! Absolutely horrible! No service skills and they are both limited in problem solving skills. So many friends say they hate talking to the staff they come for the big selection of glasses. I totally agree... I've been a member for at least 10 years and its never been this bad. Kathy and Erica are by far the most unpleasant and unprofessional people to deal with! Very limited in people skills, etiquette, sense of urgency and not to mention their attitude. As a business owner, I would be embarrassed to have helpers like these women! My brother who is a lawyer was ready to take action and We almost reported this business to the BBB, their behaviors was that bad! We have been patients of Linden Optometry for over 30 years. On April 14, 2029, we visited Linden Optometry. It was strange to not see a full house, but nice to know that they took all precautionary measures to ensure their staff and patients were safe. During our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting with Dr. Cook. He was very professional, excellent work ethics, and most importantly compassionate about his work. Dr. Cook took his time to answer question and explain the do's and dont's, especially during telecommuting work days. It is quite obvious that he was trained by the best, continues to work with the best -- so that his work is close to the best! For purposes of selecting our new frames, we met with (Stewart). HINT: After letting him know how much we MISS Ms. Faye -- he became attentive. We suggest that once all the dust settles, Ms. Faye should be hired back as a TRAINING Consultant. I'm parking my car for my 9:00am appointment that I'm early for and get a phone call letting me know my appointment is CANCELLED. CANCELED 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment! Where is the professionalism? Where is the extended courtesy? I don't live nearby anymore, yet decide to continue scheduling here. If I run late or cancel my appointment I get charged however if they cancel my time is worth NOTHING!! In what world is that fair? Let me start of by saying that I have been coming to Linden for over a decade. I am 22 years old, and I have been coming here since I was 6 years old. My primary optometrist, Dr. Linden is amazing! I am someone who has suffered with intense astigmatism and a high prescription since 6 years old. She has always helped me out even to this day and I have nothing bad to say about her. Unfortunately about the staff and the clinic is where I would have to give this a 2 star rating. They have never given me this much issues till this year. I had my initial visit for my contact renewal back on March 14th. I did not get my trial pair of contact lenses up until middle of May and even that, I had to call to make sure they were there due to the lack of communication of my trial pair arriving. I did my recheck appointment to make sure my contacts were up to par, and I understand due to my issues it takes a while for contact lenses to come in, hence why Dr. Linden reordered a trial pair for me to have so I would have a new pair to use till my yearly supply came in. Today, is August 29th, 2023. I called multiple times within the time span of 3 months to see if my yearly supply has come in, let alone my trial pairs at least. Every SINGLE TIME I call, they always tell me that they are either busy, or their contacts lenses have not arrived for that day, and that they would have to give me a call back later on in the day. Each individual time someone has said that, I have NEVER gotten a call back. I have been using my original trial pair for months now. This place is not worth your time or your money if this is how they treat long term patients. It is such a shame to watch a clinic like this exponentially decline in services and care rapidly like it has done so this past year. read more

Came early (1:30) because I knew your office would be behind already. It's now 2:30, been sitting in one spot for and hour..and counti I realize you have to overbook, to turn a profit and pay all your staff, but eventually customers, like myself, who have the power to bring their business elsewhere will do so. Side note: I'm encouraging my own family of 5, who all have been coming here, to start to looking for a new place to fill they needs. Update: Changed from 2 to 3 stars. Was contacted by someone from the company regarding the issue. Informed they are aware of it and trying to address. So at least they're cognizant of issue and responsive Wait time for a scheduled appointment today down from 1 hour 15 minutes last time to 48 minutes today...total time in building 1 hour 30 minutes. Update 3: 4:00 appointment today, still sitting in waiting room to be called... it's 5:30...on a Tuesday. I guess nothing has changed, moved rating to 2 stars, bring something to read or spare charger for your phone when you come Update: changed to 3 rating. This was my first subscription. I'm just over 40 and this was my first experience with this. They took my money in record time and their elusive behavior put me in an awkward position to have to call after their ETA for my order was late. After several holds and several excuses I was immediately told to come and pick up my ready glasses. Again, first time prescription so I was ok with two weeks of waiting after they told me ten days. I only came to Linden Opt. because my wife went here as a child. The biggest issue was when my wife had to wait and the receptionist Ariel continuously hung up after placing her on hold. Rudeness beyond acceptance, and PANDEIC excuses galore. They told her it takes six weeks for a lesser prescription than mine. Ariel hung up on her almost 6 times. The Manager Cathey even hung up once, called back and then said you can pick up your order today after we were told it will take a few more weeks. read more

Decided to give my local optometry store a chance. Got to support your local businesses right? Went to their website to see how much a set of eye glasses that I wanted would cost here. Nothing on their website can I find the brand of frames I wanted with the prescription I wanted through my insurance. All other websites I visited (Target Optical, LensCrafters, GlassesUSA, Warby Parker etc.), I can find the frame I want, chose my lenses options and be given a price. Not on Linden's website. No option anywhere to get the price based on my selections. It's 2021 people. Get with the times. So stuck in the past. I won't be going here. Will be giving my business to someone else. I get the feeling their customer demographics are people over the age of 70. How can any company in this day and age still not have a decent web presence? Also reading other reviews. In 2021 I was given a new prescription and gave my Prada frames to be filled with the new prescription. These frames were about 16 years old, but were easily the best frames I've ever had, both in utility and looks, and were what I used every day. When I received the prompt that my glasses were ready, I thought the frames didn't quite look right. It turns out that they had replaced the Prada frame with another brand, but didn't tell me. They looked quite similar. My suspicion was proven correct at my next appointment, when they identified my frames as another brand. I returned to question a manager, who then asked why I didn't report this earlier (now it's MY fault). But this was during COVID when I very rarely ventured out as my lungs are failing. This is very bothersome to me, as for all these years I've worn glasses in this frame that I've been perfectly happy with. Why, if some problem with my frames had occurred, why didn't they alert me? These weren't Linden's property and it's compounded by their attitude that somehow this is not their problem. I'm not using Linden anymore, but I am not done with them. read more

I have purchased several pairs of glasses through Linden's and continue to utilize their services. They have a great selection of glasses and give good service. Faye is especially helpful! One issue is if you are waiting for an eye exam, you must wait right in the area. If you go out to look at glasses they will not notify you when it's your turn (no PA system). The other problem was when there was an issue with my glasses they didn't notify me. I waited almost 4 weeks for my glasses, then called to check and was informed the order had not been submitted due to a clerical error. Once I contacted them they rectified the situation right away, expedited my order and even refunded some of my money. Mistakes happen so I don't hold that against them. Appreciate how they handled the situation when discovered. Just suggest you call to check on your order if you don't hear from them in a timely manner. Linden is still my go-to. In fact, I went back today and purchased some more glasses. read more

Below is a review from my from a few years back. Here's the update: Nothing has changed. Appointment times are given and ignored. For an 11 am appointment, it's more than 30 minutes later and my name still hasn't been called. So I asked about the delay and they made up this excuse: your insurance paperwork is just being printed. Of course, it was reviewed and printed before I came in, as I reviewed and signed it. And the printer lie was 15 minutes ago. I asked again and was told the next lie: the doctor was just wrapping up with another patient. After waiting for 40 minutes I went to leave. Which is when they finally called my name. Don't come here if you value your time and expect a shred of professionalism. The worst. I came here on a weekend with a 4 pm appointment. Arrived early. And wasn't seen until after 5 pm. If this place was a restaurant it would be out of business. But because it takes several insurance plans they can treat patients like dirt. And no one is sympathetic to the poor service. The DMV moves faster. And then the glasses I bought came apart a week after I picked them up. Went back to get them repaired and there were 15 people waiting for new glasses and repairs and a grand total of two--two!--people were handling customers. The only reason why I thought of this place was because my insurance was suggesting this place to me as they took my insurance but I have scheduled appointments and waited for follow-up calls but nothing. I've even tried calling to set up an appointment but nobody ever picks up the phone it's like they don't want any business well if you happen to get an appointment you must have the greatest luck because I sure don't don't recommend this place as I have never successfully got a proper appointment. read more

Been coming here for years, but the last few years the wait time has been horrible. My daughter had a 3:30 pm appointment so we arrived early to fill out the paperwork. At 4:00 pm, I asked how much longer do we have to wait? They said "she is next". At 4:30 pm we were still waiting and weren't seen until 4:20pm , an HOUR after our scheduled appointment time. After which it took another hour to order her glasses. In the end, we spent over 2 hours just get a pair of simple prescription glasses. Why do they have paying customers make appointments when they force them to wait for so long? The "due to Covid-19" and the "we aren't limited staffing" excuses is getting old an no longer acceptable because most restrictions are now lifted. So why the bad service? Why the skeleton staffing? Even before the Pandemic, the wait times over the past few years are just way too long. If they are under staffed, just hire and schedule more personnel. But I guess they are just too cheap to do so. For what I paid (after VSP), the customer communication was very poor, sporadic and inaccurate. Additionally, the time from exam to order to final delivery was extremely long. I had three pairs made, one covered partially by VSP, and two others at my full expense. First of all, none of the frames were labeled with a price, nor a way to inquire. A simple bar code linked to an app would be a simple thing to implement. Second, one of the three pairs was made incorrectly abs had to be remade extending the time to completion by over four weeks. Third, the pickup process was a mess. After being notified of one pair's completion, I drove to Linden and when I arrived, they were nowhere to be found. They were "in someone's desk drawer". I understand that everyone's processes have been altered by COVID protocols but if I've been notified to pick up an item, then it ought to be ready and easily accessible. Finally, one the pickup of the final pair (which was a remake due to a Linden error), I had to call in to find this out, and when I texted Linden to confirm, I was then told that it wasn't in fact ready, and then Linden again changed the story to say that it was complete. Thus the status changed three times in one hour. And that was over two weeks from the initiation of the regrind of the lenses. And ironically, there was a prominent sign on the outside window touting "one hour glasses". Get it right, and communicate accurately. read more

No go. I ordered new Silhouettes and they came with 2 different length temple pieces - the fitting guy didn't even notice - I did! And then my husband got glasses covered by insurance along with another pair (supposed to be somewhat of a discount for second pair when ordered at same time) - but, no, they upcharged him for super special lenses, never explaining that they were considerably more expensive. I've been coming here for some time now and the staff is really hit or miss. Often times I just feel like they are milking money from you and your insurance. I came for a contact lens renewal and they informed me that my prescription is expiring soon and I would need a contact lens exam AND a fitting exam. I have been wearing contacts for 5+ years AND I got my contacts from them last year, why do they require "contact fitting exams" for individuals who've been wearing contacts and have gotten them from linden before?? Shouldn't fitting exams be for first time contact wearers? They claim it's their policy that an exam and fitting exam are a package but it's all just to milk you for more money. I've had some so-so to really lousy experiences at various optometrists whether it was the lack of options in glasses to not-so-great explanations. Linden isn't absolutely perfect but it definitely ranks as one of the better if not best trips to the optometry I've had so far. The best: -The optometrist I had was absolutely terrific and so was the staff. (I apologize if I got the name wrong but believe it was Dr. Tseng). Going through the exams were painless; there was a clear/concise explanation for everything they were doing and I loved the friendliness/banter. Supposedly they take extra care with helping you with contacts as well (will be back for that). -There were a lot of choices to try on throughout the store (not a warehouse but fairly big - taking up the space of at least 4-5 offices). Sunglasses didn't seem as prominent but there were still a bunch. The not-so-bad: -The sales process is a little nutty when it's super busy as there sometimes is a bit of jam in the number of people there trying to get glasses as well as the salespeople being a bit more to the point. Still, service was always on point and easy to get explanations about. You'll also have to take a number and wait for a little bit for picking up glasses. The not-so-great: -Avoid coming near the end of the year. It was really busy - no walk-ins accepted as people that were trying to get their orders in before insurance ran out. read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible service! It's really unfortunate because I really like my optometrist here, but the servicing staff is terrible. It's been 3+ weeks since I ordered my glasses and they haven't called or anything. Which in my opinion is unusual for an optometrist, in all my years of going, glasses have usually arrived within 2 weeks! So, I called.... transferred around to the glasses department only to be put on hold for 10+ mins and then phone picked up for them to say "hello, what did you need?".... ummm thought I was on hold for the glasses department. So, she tries to transfer me AGAIN and it disconnects. I call back, and the new person tells me that the glasses department is busy, they'll call me back if I leave my phone number, or I can try calling them again in 20 mins or something ?! Well, I waited while I went grocery shopping and they didn't call, and guess what.. now they're closed. This is just ridiculous! Horrible service. Dr. Limfat was highly recommended by a good friend. I went here for an eye exam to fix a prescription by a previous optometry in Arcadia. Dr. Limfat is incredibly nice and very thorough. He found that the previous optometry had prescribed my power too high, and my astigmatism was too low. So he prescribed lower power (it was then I found my vision was actually near perfect) but he increased the astigmatism. I loved the new prescription, it doesn't feel like something is off, I never knew all those years going to the other optometry that wearing glasses was supposed to feel like this, as if you are not wearing any glasses. Before I suppose when the power was too high, everything was just very crisp and maybe too clear to the point where I couldn't gauge distance very well. I realized that something was still off with the prescription, and Dr. Limfat took the time to re-examine me without charging extra, I highly recommend linden optometry, and please ask for Dr. Limfat, he is incredibly nice and it feels as if he really cares about his patients. read more

I went to Linden for my annual eye exam. I was initially in their office for over two and a half hours for an exam and contact lens fitting...only to find that my prescription was completely off once they put my trial contacts in. I told them immediately that the prescription was wrong and they said my eyes and brain needed to adjust and I had to wear them for a week. I came back the next week and there was no improvement. They gave me a new prescription for my contacts and new trial lenses which were again wrong. This process went on for three more times. When they finally got my contacts right, they refused to adjust my glasses prescription (which was written based off the first contact prescription that was wrong), saying, "no, the glasses should be fine." I had to practically beg them to look at it, and when they finally did they said, "oh, you're right. This does need adjusting too." I'm STILL having issues as when I switch from my glasses to my contacts, everything looks curvy for a few minutes while my brain adjusts...which means the prescriptions are still off. This place is terrible. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who values their vision. read more

If I could separate my reviews 1 for my doctor and 1 for the rest I would. Dr. Yang is phenomenal I recommend him 1,000%. He's knowledgeable and was able to help me with my complex eye issues. He's the first Dr. who has been able to get me into contacts. Now let's move on to the lab. This is the third year I have waited forever over 8 weeks to get my glasses. I get last year was difficult due to COVID and maybe this year as well. Last year as all the previous years I pay for polish. When I picked up my glasses last year after waiting over 8 weeks they were not polished so I repaid no biggie. I just wanted my glasses. They polished them on the spot I just waited a bit extra. When it was time this year to get new glasses and pay I told they gentleman helping me to make sure they were polished. I told him about my last experience and he was sympathetic and helped me out. He wrote a huge note and highlighted it to comfort me. I walked away with the hope they would see the gigantic note on the request. Today I finally was able to pick up my glasses and the first thing I notice was the lenses not polished. I told the gentleman helping me and he was about to say I didn't have polish. So, I quickly pointed him to the gigantic note and he was like oh. Still he didn't believe me I showed him my old lenses with the polish and he finally went to the back to ask the technician. He returns and tells me the technician is out to lunch and he will be an hour. He said he would ask the technician when he came back and that I could make an appointment and come back at a later date to pick up. I was like nope I'm here I would like to go home with them. He then offered to mail them and I said no. This happens every year this is the worst customer service. So, now I'm waiting around to pick then up. Still not even sure the technician is going to polish them. If you have the ability to go somewhere else please do it. If you have complex eye issues Dr. yang rocks he's the only reason I am dealing with all of this. I just don't know how much more if this I can handle. read more

This is an example of a business that sadly has been impacted negatively by COVID. I don't know if other places will offer better service, but know what to expect if you do go here. I will need to look for a new place. I have been going to Linden for years. They were efficient and provided good service pre-COVID, but it is completely different now. You are greeted with a sign asking for your patience because they are operating with staff shortage. And indeed they are. They don't return calls. Appointments run 2 hours late. Whereas glasses take a week or so, now it takes 4 weeks, something they do not mention you at the time you purchased your glasses. At checkout, the gentleman in front of me was expressing his frustration with the poor service he received, so I am clearly not the only one who feels this way. Some of the staff are clearly frustrated and even expressed frustration to me. I give credit to those who are trying their best, which is why this is not a 1-star review. Perhaps the best we can expect post COVID is a 2-star, but I really hope Linden and others who I will be looking for can do better. read more

Year after year I'm faced with the same challenge. I arrive for my annual eye exam always at a minimum of 15 minutes prior to my appointment. Every time the optometrist calls my name about an hour or more after my scheduled appointment. This is absolutely unacceptable for a business to overbook/overlap appointments to ensure all time is covered for the staff. This means they want to make sure all no shows and cancellations do not impact work flow. This practice is not only unprofessional but more importantly customer satisfaction and customer experience is destroyed. I highly recommend Linden Optometry to take a closer look at their business practices. They don't offer any special or different service than the optometrist down the street. read more

Don't bother making an appt because you will still wait an hour. Then after picking out frames be prepared to wait another 45min. The only advantage is they have the largest selection. My suggestion would be to come here to check out the frames then write down the manufacturer and model number of several frames you like and go somewhere else. read more
