Dr Preston ran her hands down the side of my animals, looked at their teeth, and that was it for an initial exam - literally less than two minutes for each animal. Do NOT use this place for any surgical services. I was referred to this place by my primary veterinarian for a couple masses found on my dog. Dr. Preston said they can remove them. Day of surgery they called to inform they could only take one mass out and still charged me the same they quoted me for the removal of both masses in two separate locations. Something about oh it took longer and she was under anesthesia longer, blah blah blah. These people completely butchered my poor dog. Stitching was terrible, she came out much worse than she was going in and it took 2 months of an extremely difficult and painful recovery from their work only to have to take her to another Veterinary Hospital to have the surgery done all over again because they didn't even take out all of the one mass. Which was a cyst BTW. So it grew back within a month of the surgery. Thousands of dollars spent with zero results. These are not Board Certified surgeons and they have no business trying to do these surgeries on any animal that is living. My dog is cyst free, pain free, and was thriving within 2 weeks of having a proper Vet perform the surgery. read more

I took my dog in for his old arthritic hind legs to get something for relief, and they ended up taking an X-ray and running blood work for a cough he doesn't even have. I am writing this review with a very heavy heart. I brought my cat in for fluids. They took her in the back to administer them. In addition to the fluids the vet gave her two injections - a B12 injection and an injection of Cerenia (a drug given for vomiting - an ailment my cat did not have). These were given without my knowledge or consent. A few minutes after getting home my cat had a reaction to the drug Cerenia and died a horrible and painful death. NO ONE should be giving your pet treatment or medications without your knowledge and consent. PLEASE choose another veterinarian. Your pet deserves better care. I know mine did. This is the absolute best place to bring your four legged friend! My love, my dog has been here a couple times now, as a rescue dog I have had her about a couple years now and trying vet to vet with trying to get care for her and this is the best only vet that has taken her in with her aggression, anxiety, and her being nervous and scared. First time I went here they knew her background from being in a shelter her whole life not knowing a stable home until she came to mine. The complete staff has gone over and beyond what I was expecting from past visits to vets. The staff and certainly the doctor has made me feel comfortable as well as my little girl. They didn't see her as a lost cause like other vets nor turn their back to her. With their care I have never seen my dog so happy and comfortable at home with me thanks to their one on one care and patience! I will only bring my little girl here from the care they have and patience the staff have brought to me and my furry girl. I was staying with family during the COVID-19 crisis and noticed my cat Chance was urinating more frequently and even had some blood present in her urine. I called Lindenhurst, since they used to see my German Shepherd Kaya years ago, and I was able to get an appointment in 15min. They took Chance in immediately and within minutes Dr Weller called to let me know that she did an exam and Chance's bladder looks ok and they would give her a quick Abx injection and she would be good to go!! I had been there before and never got treated like this especially from the owner!!!I feel guilty for leaving Quincy there for 2 hours....I asked if I was maybe an hour late picking up my dog is that ok ?? She said yes with a major attitude and then over charged me 120$ .......57$ for a nail trim!!! And it was half assed done!!! If she is that nasty to the humans just think what they do to our furry friends... She screwed me and didn't even have a smile on her face the whack job!!!! Before stating my review, I must state that my review is based solely on my attempts to board my dogs with this facility and their initial examination. I cannot speak to the quality of ongoing care that they provide. I also cannot speak to the quality of care and bedside manner of all of the vets. I did not board my dogs here and so I cannot speak to the quality of those services. I went to this vet based on a recommendation from my boyfriend, whose cat was a regular patient at this office a few years ago. He had great experiences with a male vet. He noted that the vet he saw was caring and compassionate as well as competent in his care for his animals. I was looking to board my dogs for a long weekend and potentially switch to this vet for one of my dogs, since my regular vet is now an hour from my house. They require an initial exam before boarding, which I think is smart for all parties. I scheduled an appointment and the front desk staff was very accommodating. There was no mention during my conversation before the appointment of any restrictions on boarding. When I arrived for my exam, it became clear that the staff were less than thrilled to board my elderly dog. I don't fault them for this (cost/benefit analysis), but I did not at all appreciate their approach. Instead of stating, "Given his medical needs, we will not board him," they just repeatedly (and in my opinion, excessively) stated the worst case scenario. This included: 1. Stating the median life expectancy of dogs with my dog's medical condition before even examining him. 2. Reviewing at length the risks of boarding him (again, much appreciated, but once you see my cry in your office, I think it is safe to assume I understand your point). 3. Calling me the following day to ask me if I was sure I wanted to board my dog with them and if I WAS going to board him, stating that I would need to talk to the vet AGAIN about the same risks discussed not 24 hours before. I am all for businesses acting in their best interest. I am all for businesses refusing to serve individuals (or animals) when they feel they cannot meet their needs. I would have felt more respected and would have likely used their veterinary services in the future if they had been upfront. Instead, I felt bullied into not using their services, shamed for boarding my animals, and disrespected. In the end, I think it worked out for all parties. They did not have to care for my dog and I was able to find a vet that boards geriatric animals without complaint. read more

The doctors here were quick to help my dog and gave an amazing service at a reasonable price. The doctor even called me, while I waited in the car as a COVID-19 protocol, and had a 20 minute conversation about ways to keep my dog healthy. She didn't have to do that but it made me feel good about bringing my dog to them for treatment. Will be back for check ups!!! read more

We have a female American Eskimo dog, which can be very temperamental. She's over 2 years old now, and we've been taking her to Lindenhurst Animal Hospital since we brought her home at 6 months. Their attention to detail is comforting, and Dr. Rodney Unger understands Eskies. He and his assistants take their time in the private room with our dog until she calms down and allows them to bring her in the back to be weighed and such. They also provide pet boarding services, and we have left our dog with her on 2 occasions. Their staff is well disciplined and highly educated towards the breed of the animals, and spend plenty of time with them during their stay. We especially like the separate entrances for Dogs and Cats/Other, for those who are allergic to cats. They truly make you and your pet feel right at home. During the summer months, watch out for fleas/ticks in the grassy walking area north of their parking lot. There is not much the animal hospital can do about this, you don't want a lot of poison out there, but your dog may pickup some of these fleas/ticks when you bring her back in the car to go home. read more

We took our Great Dane here for years and when he had to be put down they were wonderful. We recently adopted two new older puppies and are no longer as happy. The front desk staff has changed as have one of the vets. They now push a lot of expensive mess and are too opinionated on training and push certain places in the area. It's not a bad Vet by any means but compared to a few years ago it's a let down. read more

Overpriced and the front office staff is horrible. Their systems were down and could not take the payment. They said we will get back to us, not once but twice. They never followed up until they turned it over to collections. The office manager said ' It was out of their hands' which is absolutely FALSE. We have paid the balance back in May by check that was cashed but were still 'served' New Years Eve. The amounts are all wrong and we plan on taking action. We've been going to Lindenhurst Animal Hospital since Austin, our now 9 year old Siberian Husky, was a puppy. My wife and I did extensive research of local animal hospitals and are glad we choose Lindenhurst AH. LAH is one of few AAHA accredited animal hospitals in the area. Established in 1933 by leaders in the veterinary profession, AAHA is the only companion animal exclusive veterinary association. AAHA is best known for its accreditation of companion animal practices. To become accredited, companion animal hospitals undergo regular comprehensive evaluations by AAHA veterinary experts who evaluate the practice on approximately 900 standards of veterinary care. Every experience since going to LAH has been positive. My wife and I were new puppy parents and LAH had a class that we participated. It taught some good fundamentals and even helped with some techniques for preventing bad behavior. At that point we knew we made the right decision. Last year, Austin tore his ACL and needed surgery. During this very stressful time, LAH handled our case perfectly. The surgery was a success and rehab was needed. All this happened 1 week before my wife and I were leaving for our 10 year anniversary trip. My parents were coming in to stay with Austin while we were away. During that time, Dr Preston and Matt (best Vet Tech ever!) made frequent house calls to check on Austin and to administer laser therapy. They even Skyped with us so we could witness the sessions and ask questions. One year later and Austin is fully recovered. Matt and Grace, honestly the best Vet Techs anywhere, are so wonderful with Austin. From the moment we walk in, Austin lets out his Husky wooos until he sees them. Once they come out to greet him, Austin gives lots of kisses. Matt even called us on his days off to check on Austin after surgery. Truly one of the best! LAH treats its customers as family. They take the time to get to know the pets and the owners. I recommend them wholeheartedly. read more

We got a new puppy and ended up losing him to parvo. The whole situation was a rollercoaster of emotions but everyone at this animal hospital was amazing. We got updates and calls 3 times a day even on the weekends. We were so concerned about our dog that we've had getting sick too but they were constantly staying on top of his health making sure he was okay. I couldn't recommend a more loving group of people to take my dog to. I can't thank them enough for all that they did for us and the sweet card from everyone for our little one who passed. read more

I give them three stars because I didn't feel right giving them lower, but my hurting heart wanted to. The front desk staff is great, the vet techs are good (several are great, others less so), and I like the vets and the care they gave to my dogs over the years. However, they lost my business with the death of one of my dogs. It's not their fault he died - he was euthanized due to severe cancer and a ruptured spleen - but I'm still upset by how it was handled, even 5+ months after the fact. We took him in on emergency and were seen quickly. The care was good, I have no complaints about that. But here's why I'm done: 1) even though I know what to expect when euthanizing a dog, such as some agonal breaths and movement, I think it could have gone more smoothly and with less stress if they'd used a different protocol. This is compared to other euthanasias that have gone much more smoothly, even in similar situations. 2) I asked for a paw print. They said they'd do one (vet in room and tech in room at the time). My BF was in the room at the time, and he heard me ask and saw them acknowledge the request. When I called a week later and asked when I could pick it up, I got the runaround. They said they couldn't find it, but would call me back. No call. I was in for an exam on another dog about 2 weeks later, and asked again. I was told they still weren't sure where it was, would track down the tech who was there and ask her, then call. No call. I called again about a week later, and that's when they told me I "hadn't asked for one" so no paw print had been done. That upset me because I know I had and it had been acknowledged, and also because it made me feel I'd been lied to for weeks. I asked to speak to the practice manager, and she showed no compassion but pretty much blamed me for the problem and seemed uncaring and even a bit defensive. So I have a dead dog's ashes but no paw print to memorialize him, and it's apparently my fault. I've since had another dog euthanized at home, using a different drug protocol, and it was a much less stressful and more compassionate, caring situation. I will do that again without hesitation when the time comes to say goodbye to our latest geriatric rescue. In the meantime, I will find another vet to care for this one because my trust in this clinic has been compromised. I feel sad for saying and feeling that, but I still can't bring myself to go back. If they're reading this, I suggest that they just make a paw print a standard thing when they euthanize a dog. If the owner doesn't want it, throw it away or do something else with it. But if you never do one, you lose the one chance to do it. If a pet owner is reading this, my advice would be to put in writing your request for a paw print when/if your pet dies or is euthanized, to spare yourself the sadness that might result from not doing so. read more

Our first visit to Lindenhurst Animal Hospital was disappointing. The reason we choose to try them was for a specific test. When we got there I was told they did not have the test I requested! Also when we looked at their website it listed 3 veterinarians so we were looking forward to meeting them however 2 of the 3 vets listed on their website are not there anymore. We meet one that was not listed on their website. That was a unexpected surprise! Also I understand it is important to keep a office clean however as we waited the smell of bleach was very strong! Avoid this animal hospital. They believe all their customers are stupid. On our last visit, our cat had to be quickly moved to an emergency facility. Because of the rush, they said they would just send us the bill. Received a bill dated 11/10/17. No due date or any other date on the bill. The bottom of the bill showed the balance as current and said a finance charge would apply after 30 days. Mailed check on 11/28/17. Received a special bill the following week dated 12/1/17 that showed my payment was received on 12/1/17 and said I owed a $30 finance charge. When I called to inquire, the office manager actually said I was stupid if I didn't know the 30 days related back to the first of the month, not the date on the bill. Sent a follow-up letter to Dr Preston and she never replied. Since the doctor and the staff think I am stupid, and they are obviously in desperate need of $30, I am taking my cats to another vet. Pricing is ridiculous. Neutering of a male cat is between $350 and $500. This procedure is available in numerous other Vet offices from $85 to $175. I have had 5 cats visit and use normal services and while the service was not poor, the fact that costs are actually more than a visit to my GP has made me re-think. I would suggest that you look around and price things before proceeding. I am a bit ashamed it took me so long to do so. Tons of money wasted. read more

PLEASE do NOT board your beloved pet here, especially if they have any kind of medical condition. We made an appointment to get my mom's diabetic dog established so we could board her when my mom and I went on a week-long vacation. The initial exam went well and we felt comfortable leaving our 6 year old Cavachon (Bichon Frise mix) in their care. Unfortunately, that was a really bad judgment call on our end. We dropped off my mom's pooch on Friday morning and by Monday night, she was dead. No exams, no blood work, and no other testing was done on her when she was there, despite her vomiting and not eating, yet they continued to give her insulin when she ate only a few treats or a little baby food. We had a family friend pick her up late Monday night because they said that she wasn't still eating. At that point, she was vomiting water and her system was shutting down, and they still did nothing. By the time our friend got her to an emergency clinic, my mom's best friend and companion was gone. She died in our friend's arms on the way there. The emergency clinic told our friend that there was nothing she could've done, it was already too late by the time she picked her up. My family filed a lawsuit against Pam Preston, as owner, and against Lindenhurst Animal Hospital in Lake County. The case resolved prior to trial, however you can judge for yourself from the publicly filed documents and court orders as to the culpability of Preston and LAH. Boarding my mom's dog there was the worst decision we made and we regret it every single day. Please don't make the same mistake. read more
