But logistically it just made sense to have a closer hospital relationship with our aging Bernese. Well...luckily we did that, because I cannot imagine life without the AHLV team now. Not just for their cute videos, the community fundraisers for socializing with other pups/people or the love for their team, but the utterly amazing intense respect and appreciation they have for the animals that come into their lives. Tear jerker time...Our oldest girl Tonka three years ago contracted Lyme disease. The full big girl version with lameness starting. We do not have human children, she is our little love filled fur baby. Dr Unger, Grace and Matt all gave me updates and not just "updates" it was with so much understanding and genuine care for our family that my scared/angry/sad/panicked momma heart actually felt comfort in our decisions and the best course of action to treat. I knew and understood everything that could and should hopefully happen. Their amazing staff brought my girl back to nearly untouched health and I still tear up thinking about it. We were lucky. But luck is only a very small part of it. AHLV is the rest of that piece. We are now a few years later and have our new "little" Leonberger pup that is of course going to them. With covid it's been interesting to say the least not being able to walk in with our pup. But I tell you what, when Grace's smiling face and Brittani's bubbly self bounce out of the door they are definitely aware that a 70lb 5 month old Puca is ready to rocket out into their arms with kisses coming very shortly after! Thank you everyone at AHLV for helping US through an incredibly scary thing with grace and patience and for all the care you show for even the normal appointments. I can't imagine in any way taking our Tonka and Puca girls to anyone else's arms.

A friendly staff will take down all your information and then will come get your fur baby from you at the car and bring them inside to see Dr. Estrick. Once they are inside, Dr Estrick will call you on speaker and will go thru the wellness exam. She was very thorough during the exam with my two dogs. Any questions I had, I mentioned to her and was given an explanation. I did not feel rushed at all. She took her time and made sure the dogs were healthy. Our dogs also had to get vaccines and routine bloodwork to check for heart worm. Pricing is reasonable compared to my old Vet. The staff here are super friendly and welcoming and you can tell Dr. Estrick genuinely loves her job and helping animals. Also, they are prompt when emailing results of bloodwork. I didn't have to call them to ask about the results the next day after waiting all day like my previous Vet. So far, I am very happy with my experience at Good Life Veterinary Care and highly recommend them!!

OVERALL this is hands-down absolutely the all-time best veterinary clinic you will find in the…read moretri-state area or a 4 hour driving window. trust me, I would know-- I used to live in a RV with my 5 dogs. The staff is incredibly kind and well mannered despite the constant level of high stress & anxiety they clearly face daily. 1st of all home slice; This is an emergency vet clinic, which means that it's walk-in only. they do schedule for surgeries and vaccinations weeks out, but they don't schedule pets by appointment/time; they schedule peta based on arrival time and emergency priority. I used to not understand this but now I do; it's because emergencies happen and sometimes they need to drop everything to try to save a dog's life. if you come on an off day or less busy time/day you can get in and out in an hour or less! when my runt was hit by a car; I called them and told that I was coming down the road and they saw him the moment I entered the clinic (he lives!) The reason people have to wait is because they prioritize what dogs they see based on the emergency level. And after both waiting several hours at a busy time and being seen immediately, I understand why they run it that way. PRICE: This is the most affordable vet clinic I've ever found. There's a reason I've been coming here for over a decade! I get their vaccinations here. I do their bloodwork here I do heartworm testing here. I get my dogs dental done here. I've had several of my dogs put under for different minor cyst removals here. I've had x-rays & checkover done when my dog was hit by a car (he lived and he's OK:) I will scream it from the rooftops; This is the absolute best veterinarian clinic I've ever found in my 20+ years of looking. I have three dogs now, i've had 6 total so far in life and if you bring in multiple dogs or if you have a dog that needs multiple procedures done, they have always given me a stack up deal. They are very supportive and they want your pet to be healthy. Just bring your dog to them. just trust me. just do it. SUPER affordable. STAFF & FACILITY All the staff are great! very nice Sharon Sarah Dawn Debbie Blue Elliott Elizabeth everyone is cool dawg it's chill the Drs are all awesome super smart & patient, there are several that rotate shifts /times/days. they are great! they will always answer my many endless questions. they have always cared about giving me good information when I ask what I should do. They are so kind. They put my dogs needs first and they give me incredible feedback about how to be a good pet owner. super affordable super kind. i'm loyal to this place. TIMING: If you have a ROUTINE check up or simple procedure or basic check in that you need to bring your dog for; just don't come on a Monday or a Friday (unless they schedule you for surgery which is always on fridays) because that's when they're the most busy. Come early morning, right when they open on like a Wednesday or Thursday and you won't even barely have to wait in line with your dog/cat I bet. or like a thursday after 1pm sometimes it's super quick & no wait! just depends on how many local area pups have tummy aches etc. please do not poo poo the quality of people who patron this clinic because at the heart of this clinic is a staff and doctors who care about your pets and giving them incredible service at an affordable price. It is really hard to get good care for your pet. We love our animals. We bring them to Fox Lake animal hospital because they are affordable and they CARE about giving you & your pet a good experience. It's so obvious to me that they don't care about frills and extra BS here they care about giving you QUALITY care for your pet without breaking your bank over nonsense fees or making you scared to come to the Vet. you shouldn't be scared to take your dog to the vet. This place is very comfortable.

She was unable to walk and was crying/barking so loud it was breaking my heart. She had lived an amazing 15 years and it was her time. Once we got her into an exam room after filing out unnecessary paperwork, a vet finally came into the room and began examining our dog and asking all kinds of questions. Pushing on our dogs stomach making her cry even more. Then she tells us the she might have a growth in her stomach. Then walks out the door. Our dog is crying in pain and struggling to breath. We wait for about 15min before I walk out of the room to the front desk. I ask them when they will be in the room and why they thought pushing on my suffering dogs stomach was necessary. They didn't know what to say. I walked back into the room and continued sitting with my suffering dog. Around another 10 min goes by and my dog begins to vomit. She is unable to lift her head at this point and is choking on it. I could not watch her choke to death on her puke so I had to lift her head and try to get her airway clear. Finally able to get her to stop choking, I lay there holding my suffering dog as I listen to the vet and vet techs laugh and joke in the office area behind the exam rooms. A few minutes later a vet tech opens the door to find me and my vomit covered dog. The look on her face was panic. She ran to get an IV started and was screaming down the hall for the vet to get into the room. Once the IV was started and the VET casually with no urgency made her way to the room. We were pushed to the side and only able to touch our dogs rear legs. The VET injected the drugs so fast and never said any to us about what she was doing. The only thing she said when they all finally moved to the side was she has passed. It was one of the worst experiences I have gone through. Please do not bring your dog to this place. Please bring them to people with empathy and compassion who actually care about your pets and won't let them or you and your family to suffer the way we did while losing one of our fury family members.

Their attention to detail is comforting, and Dr. Rodney Unger understands Eskies. He and his assistants take their time in the private room with our dog until she calms down and allows them to bring her in the back to be weighed and such. They also provide pet boarding services, and we have left our dog with her on 2 occasions. Their staff is well disciplined and highly educated towards the breed of the animals, and spend plenty of time with them during their stay. We especially like the separate entrances for Dogs and Cats/Other, for those who are allergic to cats. They truly make you and your pet feel right at home. During the summer months, watch out for fleas/ticks in the grassy walking area north of their parking lot. There is not much the animal hospital can do about this, you don't want a lot of poison out there, but your dog may pickup some of these fleas/ticks when you bring her back in the car to go home.

Day of surgery they called to inform they could only take one mass out and still charged me the same they quoted me for the removal of both masses in two separate locations. Something about oh it took longer and she was under anesthesia longer, blah blah blah. These people completely butchered my poor dog. Stitching was terrible, she came out much worse than she was going in and it took 2 months of an extremely difficult and painful recovery from their work only to have to take her to another Veterinary Hospital to have the surgery done all over again because they didn't even take out all of the one mass. Which was a cyst BTW. So it grew back within a month of the surgery. Thousands of dollars spent with zero results. These are not Board Certified surgeons and they have no business trying to do these surgeries on any animal that is living. My dog is cyst free, pain free, and was thriving within 2 weeks of having a proper Vet perform the surgery.

As a result of the surgery, our dog now has facial nerve (cranial nerve VII) paralysis! This was a simple surgery, and now our loving dog has this issue to deal with! When we took her back to be checked out, as her top eyelid was not shutting, her left ear wasn't moving or her left nostril, Dr. Dadkhahs only suggestion was to get an MRI - SUPER - lets spend $6,000 for what? I'm not saying Google is a good doctor, but it was more effective in diagnosing our dog than this "vet surgeon"! Just awful pre and post care! A good vet surgeon would have waited to do surgery Vs rush rush rush - to see if the mass cell would go completely which was looking like it was. Additionally, for someone who's been to school for this type of stuff, not to identify that she has facial nerve (cranial nerve VII) paralysis is just flat out DUMB!! Not only this, but she denied that there was no issue with her surgery. RIGHT!! If your dog needs a checkup - great place - if your dog needs good care - NOT THE PLACE!
