Not sure what happened here but the food has changed and so have the drinks. This last visit the food was so bland, there was no spice or flavor in anything, how is that possible this is mexican food!? Their new complimentary salsa and bean dip literally tastes like nothing, its completely changed. The food also was very greasy, and the knife skills are seriously lacking, everything was cut in huge chunks and hard to eat with just a fork (peppers, onions, etc.). The drinks were weak. We used to order one and both have a minor buzz, this time nothing, they tasted watery. Not sure we will be back anytime soon. Maybe in a year or so we'll give it another shot. read more

We really wanted to like it. The bar area was cute. It was a slow Saturday afternoon, so the service could have been better for beer. The food came out nicely timed and looked good. There was a lot of food, if you like rice. The chimichanga and burrito were filled with orange rice. I could count the piece of chicken from the chimi. One side of the burrito had steak. Friday night at 6:15pm, no crowds, immediate seating. This place offers some interesting traditional dishes that you don't always get at other Mexican places. I started with a mangonada drink which is made with mango, lime, some other flavors and a stick of Tirolo straw (tamarind lollipops). If you like a drink mixed with sweet & sour, and chili spices, then this is the one that you don't want to miss. I always seek out for either a fried tilapia or menudo (beef tripe) soup when I try a new Mexican restaurant to test out their "authenticity". They had both on the menu and I chose the soup. The soup was loaded with tripe but not as spicy as I have tasted elsewhere, which actually was what I like. Adding cilantro, chopped onions and lime to the soup made this dish a perfect choice for a chilly night! The restaurant takes up three spots at the location. The restaurant is in the middle, to the left is a bar and to the right is a mini mart. Services were great and price was very reasonable. It's a terrible thing when your burrito comes out with a bunch of cheese slapped on top. I moved from California to Wisconsin and I've been looking for a good Mexican place to fill my need of tacos and burritos. This place was recommended by my fiancé's coworker. We stopped by for lunch and ordered al pastor burritos. The burritos were huge monstrosities completely covered in shredded cheese. That was the one and only flag I needed to know this wasn't our next Mexican eatery. The al pastor was tough and chewy and covered in a gritty red marinade. My burrito was so packed with cheese I had rice-bean-cheese coagulated on one half of my burrito. The red and green sauce were ok on the spice level but really lacked in flavor. My father, myself n my son went to eat tonight and it was horrible from the moment we walked through the door..... Waited 25 min for a table to be cleaned, a group of 6 people came in 15 min after us and they got their drinks n food first.... My father ordered menudo which was not good at all he didn't even want it but ate some cuz he was hungry, my son ordered a burrito and toward the middle of it he but was chewing and noticed a huge piece of something hard, went to the bathroom n threw up, my food was good I ordered tacos and was asked if I wanted the taco Tuesday tacos which are mini tacos and I told the waiter no I wanted the regular tacos he said ok... my tacos came back in the mini form waited for my rice n beans which never came so I went and asked 15 min later then I got them.... I ordered a pina colada margarita and asked for the jumbo one n he served me a mini looking margarita and I was told he couldn't make in that size but at first it was ok to order that size and I have literally ordered in the jumbo all the times I have eaten there! After all pina colada margarita is the only one I drink.... So the waiter adjusted our bill and did charge the margaritas but that still don't make it right. Oh n a customer who was sitting in front of us a brought us a stack of napkins because they never did either. On our way out to pay the lady at the bar asked how everything was n so I let her know.... I don't know why she asked because she didn't care anyways. Lindo Michuacan is a festive and authentic Mexican restaurant with a lot of character. The menu has some delicious sounding items that are not the typical Mexan restaurant fare like Parrillada, ahogada, and a Cuban with a Sunny- side-up egg on it! Best Mexican food in Appleton without a doubt! Many people have recommended this place to us because of how authentic it is and how great all their food is. The restaurant is split into a bar area with some tables and there is another room next to it with additional tables and booths. The entire space feels roomy with plenty of space between tables, which makes for a pleasant dining experience. We went for lunch and it wasn't very busy. Our waiter was with us only a few mins after we sat down and was very friendly. I ordered a strawberry margarita on the rocks. Be aware... they are strong but taste delicious! Our waiter brought us salsa and bean dip, which were both very good. My boyfriend ordered 3 street tacos- a carne asada, barbacoa, and chicken. He really enjoyed them and thought they were some of the best street tacos he's ever had. I ordered the vegetarian burrito. My burrito was huge and covered in a smoky red sauce. My husband and I have loved this place for the last three years since we've moved to town, unfortunately the last several times we've come we have left disappointed. On a recent pre-relocation trip up to Appleton, WI from South Texas, I was desperate to find a suitable Mexican joint to make this drastic move just a little bit easier. South Texas is the CAPITOL of Mexican food (Tex-mex of course but the menu is almost always similar elsewhere). My expectations were not high given the location in the country but they were not in the dirt either. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. We walked in and the place smelled legit: masa with a hint of Fabuloso. I was certain we had found a gem. They promptly brought us chips and then set before us two small bowls. One was chilled, watery semi-refried beans and the other was canned tomatoes, water, raw onion, and cilantro. Zero hint of anything remotely resembling a pepper. I looked around the room and most everyone in there was speaking Spanish which was comforting because even though I haven't moved yet, I was already missing home. What I didn't understand was how everyone in that place was seemingly enjoying their so-called salsa. Just didn't make sense to me. If I hadn't witnessed that, I would've just assumed they were simply catering to their northern clientele. 40 minutes later, our lunch came. I asked our waitress for their spiciest enchiladas verdes (stupidly) assuming I'd get chicken. They came stuffed with white cheese. The salsa had a little bite which was surprising after experiencing their "salsa". I had expectations of something actually spicy when I requested their spiciest but maybe it's a northern thing...? More of the same cold watery semi-refried beans. Why my food showed up cold after waiting an eternity, I have no idea. I might try this place one more time because maybe they were having an off day. The reason for my second star is that there is a fantastic store attached for anything one might want, authentic mexican-food wise. Service was very slow. There were floaters (appeared to be Tajin) in my drink (mountain dew) and an extremely soggy straw wrapper in my friends drink. This was my first time trying this place out and unfortunately, it will also be my last. Some friends and I had been wanting to try this place. We were all very disappointed with our experience. It took almost an hour to get carry out. You can go to any other Mexican restaurant in town and get carryout in under 30 minutes, regardless of if they are busy or not. I ordered one of my favorite dishes, enchiladas poblanos. I am not an expert when it comes to Mexican food but any other time I've ordered this dish it was covered in a roasted poblano cream sauce. This dish was made with a red mole sauce that was extremely over-salted. Since this dish had zero poblano peppers associated with it, I fail to see why it is called enchiladas poblanos. We also ordered the American taco platter and the Mordeduras appetizer. The tacos had no flavor in my opinion. We order two chicken and two beef. The chicken was very dry and the beef, just like the enchiladas, was extremely over-salted. The tacos were also very messy & sloppy and they just fell apart when you tried to pick them up. Both enchiladas and the tacos came with rice and beans. The rice and beans also had no flavor, and the rice was very dry with what appeared to be frozen peas and corn. The serving size of the rice and beans we received was not appropriate to the cost. The appetizer was the only thing about the meal that we enjoyed. We were surprised at how good it was compared to the main dishes. We were also very disappointed with their to-go containers. Many other Mexican restaurants in the area use round tin containers appropriate to the amount of food that they are serving. This restaurant uses a fast food-style compartment container. All of our dishes were just thrown together in these containers. I think the worst part of our food was that everything was cold when we got home and I live 5 minutes away from the restaurant. We would all think that after waiting almost an hour for food that wasn't very good, it would have at least been hot. We found out after having ordered that they also have a very low state health score. only 33 out of 100. That's horrible for an establishment that serves food. They have been cited many many times for health code violations. We won't ever return to this restaurant. read more

Okay, by far the best tasting authentic Mexican food in all of Appleton. I say this with all excitement and sincerity. However, the place is poorly organized and very SSSSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW! Which is why I shorted one star. If the place could somehow get a handle on its floor staff, I definitely would be happy to raise my rating to 5 stars. But I will add, and would never dismiss, that all of the staff are very friendly and helpful. Anyway, if you're in the mood for truly authentic Mexican food in Appleton, this is certainly the place to be. With a plethora of menu items from which to choose, including a taco menu which is second to none, the food is carefully crafted and presented to eagerly awaiting hungry customers. Came in with my father while traveling up north for the 4th of July. It happened to be taco Tuesday which ment that mini tacos were 1$ a piece. I got 6 asada, 2 polo, 2 pork, and 2 chorizo. The tacos came out very quickly and were all topped with cilantro and onion. The marinated pork ones were the best, but all were very delicious. What really stands out is the homemade corn tortillas as they really bring a homemade vine to the food. The service was also very good with plenty of visits from the waitress as well as refills. However tonight it took 45 minutes to get tacos and once I did they were less than half the size they normally are. Literally I had a taco and that was the size of the lime That was on the plate. When I asked the waitress about this she said well you know it's taco Tuesday don't you? I ordered delivery. The food arrived late, but it was still hot and was nicely presented. The pork tamale was good, but I was surprised it came covered in sour cream and cheese. I expected it to be plain or with some red sauce. It was still good. The Birria ramen platter was very good! The steak tacos were excellent. I thought there were too many noodles in the consumme, as I would have liked a little bit more broth for dipping. Still, the ramen was good, if not a little salty. The only real disappointment was the pozole, which is a favorite of mine and I'm always looking for a great one. The Pozole from Lindo had WAY too much pork in it, and it wasn't cubed, it was in huge hunks of shreds. No way it could be eaten as a soup. There was so much pork there was not enough broth to enjoy as a soup. I love adding all the condiments, which did not include any crisp tortillas here. It was also a bit too salty. Tried Lindo Michoacan Authentic Mexican Restaurant for the first time last night. Great authentic Mexican food. The food took a little longer to get out than I would expect (given that the restaurant wasn't very busy) however when it came out it was delicious and flavorful. I ordered the combination fajita with chicken, steak and marinated pork. Everything was great with the exception of the steak which was tough and chewy. The chips and salsa are very good. The salsa is a little hotter than medium. The bean dip is excellent as well. My massive burrito was pretty good. My only drawback were the peas in it. I've never seen that and it came across like they mixed a bag of frozen vegetables in it. The gordita I had was very good and interesting! I had chicken with the burrito and marinated pork for the gordita. I would say I liked the chicken most out of those. There is a small bar inside and the margarita options looked good and well-priced. The inside doesn't allow for an intimate setting and is very casual and open w/smaller tables. Very disappointed in this place based on the four star rating. After being told to seat myself, I had to pick from I wiped tables. A rag was left on one and the floor was also visibly dirty. I sat and waited six or seven minutes before being brought a menu. The "waiter" didn't seem to notice the filthy table. One minute after I got the menu he brought chips, salsa, and beans and asked if I knew what I wanted. Well, no. He said he would come back in five minutes and never did. I finished the chips and my water and was going to leave when the waitress serving the few other customers noticed I was a little irked. She apologized for the delay and took my order. Prices were fair but the food was subpar, I think Wisconsin in general has low expectations for Mexican food. OK, we went to Lindo Michoacan for the 2nd time. It wasn't Taco Tuesday so it was very quiet and to be honest, dead. Only one other table besides our table. I decided not to order tacos so I could try something different. Friend and I ordered the Parrillada Ala Michoacana for two ($24). We've had it before at a different restaurant so we kind of knew what to expect. It included chicken, chorizo, shrimp, steak, potato wedges, onions, peppers and jalapenos. Everything was on the plate but there was more sliced potatoes than everything else. Don't get me wrong, the potato slices were good but there was only 2 small thin pieces of chicken, 2 small thin pieces of chorizo, 4 shrimps, and 4 small thin pieces of steak. I could have had more meat from 2 wings vs the small thin pieces of chicken on the plate. Two small pieces of chorizo was delicious but only 2 bites on each piece. Shrimp was tasty. Pieces of steak was small super thin and tough. There was either 3 or 4 onions and jalapenos and some sweet peppers and of course a lot of potatoes. For the most part, it tasted good (besides the tough steak) but it definitely was not worth $24 for a lot of sliced potatoes and not much meat. For only having 2 tables (4 people total), it sure seems the waitress was too busy to stop by to see if we needed anything. Neither of us got a refill of water or drink. We went here tonight for our weekly night out with kids. When we first walked in we were not acknowledged. We waited patiently even though we were on a time line. The waiter had to clean up a mess on the floor and seemed frustrated. After he sat us at our table he completely turned around. He was attentive, the food was excellent, and we still made it out on time to pick up our kids. We go here to eat often enough, with and without kids. The food is always great and the service too.
