I went here for a class trip for our spanish class today. Not only was the food delicioso, but the service was excellent. Our table had Delfino as our waiter and he was very friendly, happy, and funny. Delfino joked with us throughout the afternoon and stayed happy the whole time despite 80 high schoolers. On a recent trip to Green Bay, my family suggested this place, and I was a fan from the start. With a faux Aaron Rodgers to greet us at the door, there was a high tone set from the start! The food, margaritas and service were absolutely too-notch. Before tip, our bill was $80, which was super impressive since we were three adults and two kids for lunch. I have visited El Maya a few times over the last ten years or so whenever I have been in town to visit family. This was my first visit to their new location, since they moved out of their gas station location (gas station Mexican did have a nice ring to it!). I ordered the Mazatlán Combo, which was a seafood enchilada and shrimp quesadilla. The shrimp in the quesadilla were HUGE and fresh and flavorful. The enchilada was also delicious and hit the spot. There was plenty of food and I struggled to finish my plate. My dining companion ordered the enchiladas mexicanas and he really enjoyed them. Takeout review: we stopped after running errands and wanted to take the food home. The greeter/host was super friendly, cleared a spot at the bar for us to site while we looked through the menus and waited for our food. The menu is quite extensive, but easily divided/marked so you can find what you want fairly easily. It only took about 10 minutes for the food to be made, and the host put some extra chips and salsa in the bag for us. Bonus: they have horchata, which is hard to find in Green Bay, and it's good. We all enjoyed our food as well; I had the chicken flautas and they were cooked well. One minor downside: I wish it had come with some rice or something on the side for a little bit more, it was just the flautas. Minor complaint, though. Overall, great takeout option, and I definitely plan to go back for a sit down meal when I'm back in town! read more

Stopped in here after a long day at work to visit our favorite waiters there...and also to have some great food again. Was a Tuesday about 5:30pm and we were seated right away. I do wish El Maya had salted tortilla chips...one could probably argue thats not authentic, but i gotta have my salty chips...I just gotta! :) Ordered the queso fundido, which is always amazing. A couple of margies, which are always on point awesome. The blend of cheese, mushrooms and chorizo has such a unique fabulous flavor. Hubby had the nachos and I had ordered a couple ground beef tacos, will definitely be back. I do hope they tame the lighting in there, its way too bright inside. Our favorite Tex-Mex location. Great queso dip with your chips, just don't let it cool too long. Also ask for the spicy salsa if you like a little kick. Our favorite dish is the Big Burrito, but come with an appetite for that one. Also, warning that if you get a large Margarita, you'll want to Uber or have someone else drive. Rode past this place a few times over the years and decided to try it. I will start by saying I will continue to drive by. This food and portions were terrible. I had a chicken and avocado burrito it was very bland not to mention it was the size of one of those frozen store burritos. For $12 I could of went to several other Mexican places in town and got a burrito 3x that size and it would have been delicious. Then you get the free bag of stale chips and bland salsa. Summary: Super Bland. Confusing food preparation, not recommended. Review: Chips and Salsa: the complimentary chips and salsa also came with a bean and cheese dip. The Salsa was super mild and tasteless. This is coming from a guy who frequently buys the giant Pace Mild Salsa plastic jug about once a month. I'm not a spicy guy. I didn't care for the bean & cheese dip, but I appreciate the restaurant offering a free alternative to the standard salsa. Ground Beef Burrito: Two main issues, First the meat was tasteless, again, i'm a mild mexican food guy but this was utterly tasteless. Second, the food preparation was odd the burrito had the just the meat inside, and the lettuce, One and only One slice of tomato, cheese,, beans, and sour cream were put on top. I didn't understand the concept of an open faced burrito. Churros and ice cream dessert: The churros were tasty, but were served cold, like were in the cooler. Since when are churros served cold?, They're usually under a heat lamp. Again, odd food preparation. I probably won't go here again. read more

Went to lunch with a few associates. The atmosphere was good, a very clean place that looks and smells nice. There's a cool vine growing across the ceiling that apparent is all one plant, but it criss crosses the whole place and has been growing for years. I ordered the lunch special #1 - chile relleno, a taco, and guacamole salad with refried beans. The food tasted good, for the price I was a bit disappointed with the quantity and quality. The chile relleno was a good flavor, but not at all crispy and the cheese was bland. The taco was fine, but it was a hard shell and I didn't know I had to ask for a soft shell. The guacamole salad was really just shredded iceberg lettuce, a spoonful of guac, and a slice of tomato. The refried beans were good. Once again, all decent flavors, but nothing impressive and not a very filling meal, considering it cost $8. Service was prompt and friendly, and we never had to look for a server to get us extra water. The chips and salsa at the start we're fresh tasting. My boyfriend and I used to live on the East side of Green Bay where all the good Mexican food was but recently moved to De Pere and thought we could give this place a try because it's so close to home. Never again. The service was okay, they were fast but all the servers looked like they hated working there. I ordered the enchiladas suizas which is usually a safe dish for me and I didn't know if I had COVID or something because there was absolutely no flavor. Both the salsa on the table and the salsa on my enchiladas where watered down. My boyfriend ordered the burrito, Taco and enchilada combo and when he received it ...it was a hard shell taco like the one from Taco Bell. But at least the ones from Taco Bell have flavor. And the drinks. My to go to is a Long Island iced tea and it was horrible. They couldn't even make that right. The only thing that was good was the frozen lemonade that my boyfriend got. We finished the food because we don't like wasting and it was pricey for the quality of food. Nothing hurts more then spending money on bad food. read more

My daughters for years have referred to this restaurant as "THE Mexican Restaurant" because it is everyone's favorite. My husband and co workers come here frequently for lunch as well. Food is always fantastic and service is very speedy. Chile verde is great. My girls love the fajita taco salads in a perfect size mini shell for them. My favorite is the fajita taco salad. We tried a newer delivery service in town and this was one of their options. Taking into consideration that it was take out, plus delivery time, I still have a hard time giving this place anything but a meh at best. Salsa was very bland, chips were stale, and fajita meat and vegetables very poorly seasoned. The flour tortillas were on the thick side and reminded me more of the packaged ones from the grocery store than restaurant quality. Friend had the seafood chimi, but he was also unimpressed. On a positive. the presentation was nice and the portions were large. They have a huge menu to choose from. Overall, this place is similar to most of the other Mexican restaurants you'll find around Green Bay and not worth going out of your way for. I would like to say I'd try again and dine in, but I just don't know that that'll be happening any time soon. read more

My coworkers just ordered lunch from this restaurant, and let me say I was extremely disappointed! I ordered the "Speedy Gonzalez" lunch special. It was a taco and an enchilada with a side of beans. This was the greasiest meal I think I have ever eaten. I could only eat about half of the enchilada, and two bites of the taco because it was such a greasy, sloppy mess. All I could taste was grease and salt! Their fried beans were "soupy" . I don't even know how they got that way, and I probably don't want to know. The meal was only $4.99, and now I know why! It was inedible. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Just a tip to the El Mayan "chefs", don't be afraid to drain the fat after you cook your meat, and don't be afraid to season your food with something besides salt! read more

I had the big burrito. Food was good, service was very fast, attentive, and friendly. This will always give a place an extra two stars for me as so many places lack good customer service. Drinks were good, guava margaritas are always fun to try. It probably compares with most local Wisconsin Mexican restaurants but over all it is a good place. Went there with my wife for an early dinner after reading other reviews. We were seated right away and served their complementary chips and salsa and bean dip. Our waiter must have just been going on break because I noticed him put a plate down on the empty table behind us and few minutes he sat down to eat. About 5 minutes later another waiter came over to take our order. I ask about the monster burrito and he assured me that it would be enough for me and I would not leave hungry. My wife ordered a shrimp chimichanga I had the burrito. Our order came out in about 10 minutes and hot. The burrito was servers on a skillet and when I cut into it it sizzled on the hot skillet everything was good but I would recommend asking to leave the orange looking sauce off the burrito. It seemed to be a little over powering of the other flavors in the dish. Overall the service was good and friendly staff I would try again. read more

We had a chimichanga, which was not crisp on the outside and the cheese sauce on top was a little runny and not as abundant as you normally see. We also had a few enchiladas, which were average. I guess I didn't look that closely since we shared means but I expected the enchiladas to come with rice and beans. The chimichanga did, which was enough for us to share. Not a strike against them. The kids each had a cheese enchilada off of the a LA carte menu and shared the rice and beans with us. They had crayons and coloring sheets for them. It is a little dark in there in the evening. They had bright furniture and music play so the atmosphere is good. Prices were average. Would I go back? Possibly but I want to check out other options first. read more

Ordered eat street, didn't get one of my items I ordered, EatStreet guy said he would call them and another driver could bring it. I waited an hour and didn't see anything so I called and they said they didn't have that item on their menu (chimichanga, something every Mexican restaurant has on their menu), then changed their mind and said they do and they missed it on the order and to call the next day and "work a deal with their boss". Paid for something, didn't get it, and now I'm expected to call and deal with it somehow, not even worth my time. They wouldn't give me a refund and said I can get a gift card. Disappointing meal from the moment I sat down. The chips had an odd flavor to them, and the salsa was very bland. I don't like spicy foods, so for me to say something was bland....it's bland. I ordered the fajita chimichanga, and it had been prepared poorly. It was really just a burrito that had been microwaved with some cheese sauce on it.
