Used them a few times in the last three years before I got my driver's license. Arrival time for cab varied from about five minutes to about an hour. Drivers are mediocre, at best. Some are just kind of annoying, while others are reckless. They speed, blow stop signs, etc. Very uncomfortable. A few of the cars I was in didn't even have seat belts! Rates seem to vary by the mood of the dispatcher; not consistent. Overall, I guess Lindy's is acceptable if you're desperate, but you're likely in for an uncomfortable adventure. read more

I called a cab from Amityville to Bay Shore that cost me $30 !!! To boot, I accidently left my medication in the cab and they are telling me I didn't.I know for a fact I did. I'm so po'd right now. I would rather hitch a ride than deal with this lying overpriced company again. I need to take back my last review. Yes I felt the price was high but they did find my medication which they found under the seat and called me back to let me know. I may have accidently kicked it under there so I can't blame them for that. But they were honest enough to call me back. And just to add the driver was a very nice person so that's why I overreacted thinking . Dispatch guy is not so nice but whatever. You might as well hitchhike! This company has THE WORST customer service of any company I've EVER experienced! My mother has had the need fir cab service after her brain surgery. I'm in Texas, and so am not around to drive her. She has to use a walker, and obviously can't carry a lot around. These drivers REFUSE to help her out of the car, and get really rude saying it's not their job to help with bags... REALLY??? The drivers are nasty, unkempt, have their pants hanging down their asses with their underwear showing and wearing flip flops, in their nasty, stinky cars. The worst, but the only game in town. I just called for a taxi and was told that the cab would be there in 15 minutes. I then asked about the rate, it came to $5 per mile. When I asked why there rates were so high, that a week ago the same ride was $6 less, I was told that they would reduce the rate but then the taxi wouldn't be there for 45 minutes or more. Lindy's Taxi service in East Hampton is absolutely wonderful! The time estimated by the dispatcher is almost always spot on. The drivers are friendly, never rude. They are easy to hold a conversation with. And even if they are not the talkative type, the ride to your destination is always comfortable. Lindy's is my go-to taxi service. There are other cab companies that you SHOULD call before subjecting yourself to Lindy's. Let me share with you the rudeness of this company. The driver Joe was very nice even though like another review here, he does feel the need to smoke in the car, but an alright kind of guy. The car is well worn, dirty and a shame. The boss or rude dispatcher Bob is another kind of animal and an animal he is. He was rude, cursed and demanded a "company policy" 20% tip. Tips are not mandatory. It is my option to give what tip I feel, not what a dispatcher demands. Then after my refusal to supply him personal info, he gets rude and nasty. Taxi companies are normally run by slime so it was not a surprise for this Long Island neanderthal to get animal like and curse. After getting out of the car I called Bob to discuss his rudeness but he refused to come to the phone. Not too surprising for an animal like Bob. the worst company...made me miss my flight from jfk..I booked a day in advance for 5:30 a.m. pick up..at 5:30 they were a no show...no calls NOTHING!!!...I called... and the idiot who answered said they don't get the appointments from the day before...he put me on hold came back and said nothing he could do...no remorse..no alternate plan to get me to the airport. would not send a car...I had to take my own car, park in long term then take the tram which added an hour to my commute..i missed the check in time and missed the flight..undependable..poorly run company..hope uber puts them out of business, cost me time and money and grief...don't use them if you have a schedule or must be somewhere on time!!!! read more

So, my girlfriend had the privelege of using lindy's cab service. She was intoxicated after a long new years eve night out and ended up in stony brook past her stop in syosset. she took lindys, may i add a very nice and expensive cab ride for $85. She charged it to the credit card and gave the driver a $10 tip (happy new year!). The next day she saw she got charged for $102. She called the dispatch to ask why her bill was $17 more than the quoted price. The dispatcher goes, "I remember you, don't you recall me talking about the gratutity over the radio to dispatch?" (the guy who answered was her driver) I am sorry, but this poor excuse for a human being accepted an additioanl $10 tip after the fact and already knowing she got charged that ridiculous 20% gratuity. The drive from Stony brook to syosset is already a rip off and very expensive, to add 20% gratuity sneakily is trashy, and then to take an additional $10 cash is borderline stealing. I know this review is meaningless since the cab company is a monopoly in the area. I know my girlfriend won't make the mistake of oversleeping on the train ever again. I know its only $10 in the end, but everyone should know Lindys is not only rude with awful service indicative of the other reviews, but they are also highway robbers who take advantage of drunk women. read more

Never use Lindy's taxi. Rudest cab service I have ever experienced. Dispatcher made us miss our friends wedding ceremony. Mid cab ride we had to turn around to pick up another couple going to a different destination and drop them off first. When asked if we could pay double to make our event she swore at us and the driver to get both fares. Lindy's dispatcher had zero customer interest and will ruin your evening. I would never reco using this company. uber needs to come here immediately and put her out of business. Her drivers deserve better management and would make more money independenty. read more

As a lifelong Long Islander, I've had to take this cab for many years. But now that it's 2016, and there are alternatives in town like Uber and Lyft, I want to air this company out. The drivers are often rude, low class, smelly, and on drugs. The dispatchers are always rude. The prices are always much higher than competing companies or apps. The customer service is atrocious. Tonight I called and told the dispatcher my sister needed a ride from the bar, and I could pay him with my credit card over the phone, or she would pay in cash when the car picked her up. I was somewhat hesitant about using Lindy's bad reviews and just overall perception from living in Smithtown. However, i needed an affordable ride to and from JFK for a work trip so i gave them a shot. The drivers both arrived promptly, and took great care of me and were SUPER nice. John took me home, I can't recall my other driver's name, but both very pleasant to talk to. Being honest, I wouldn't say the cars are luxury by any means, they are true taxis and one of the cars smelled of cigarettes (but clean), but the service was very good and affordable. I would like to thank lindys taxi for being my lifesaver the last few days! Service was not perfect, i had 1 driver out of the 6 used this week that i did not feel safe with. However the other 5 were very nice. When i asked them to take me to the hospital they always asked how my husband was and showed genuine concern. I've used Lindy's twice, to get from and return to Ronkonkoma train station. Leaving the station the car was clean, fare was fair, driver drove safely. I'm not chatty so I also prefer if the driver isn't chatty, so he was good for me. To the station, driver arrived 5-10 min early. Car was clean, driver was very nice and drove safely. The quoted fare from dispatch included the tip and when I tried to give the driver a few bucks extra he said no, it's already included. I checked yelp to find some cab companies for my elderly mom to start using. I was surprised by all the bad reviews so decided to add my 2 cents. read more

I gave 1 star because there was no less value. My wife booked a cab over the phone with a credit card and was asked to tip up front and when the cab shower up at the bar he tried to pick another person up off the street and charge them cash while charging us. Thank god that person was a friend of ours and called him out on it. The cab driver got mad and said we were F'ing with his money and sped off. Disgusting cab service. We called to have a cab pick us up for 4 people after a formal event. The dispatcher sent a van for 15 people (even though they knew we only needed a car), so naturally we decided to fit in more people (more people, cheaper ride, right?). WRONG. Not only did the cab driver not tell us the price upfront, the dispatcher decided to charge us 10 dollars a piece, amounting to $120 to drive us less than 10 minutes away to our destination. The cab driver pulled over once we heard the dispatcher randomly dictate the price over the radio, threatened to kick us out despite the fact that he had not informed us of the price beforehand. His first name was Fred, and he refused to give us his last name. Older black male. He was disgustingly rude, as was the dispatcher. During the time we were pulled over, a girl in the back felt ill and so left the cab so as to not get sick inside the vehicle. The cab driver then told the dispatcher there were less people in the cab and knocked the price down to 60 dollars. HE THEN DROVE AWAY WHILE THIS POOR GIRL AND ANOTHER 2 KIDS WERE STILL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN THE SNOW, because letting them back into the cab would jack up the price again. I would NOT EVER recommend this cab service to anyone. They are rude and despicable human beings. Please don't let them continue their business. literally the worst taxi service ever. i've actually been using lindy's on and off for years now and i've never had a good experience with them. like ever. but the thing is i've been having to have someone else call the taxi for me because a few times i tried to call myself and the dispatcher would make fun of the way i sound and say i'm not old enough to take a taxi, and so i would end up without a ride. i'm 19 btw. they charge you inconsistent fees too. usually if i'm going to the train station from my house, its $5-$9. once, my boyfriend who is an international student and doesn't speak english that well called and asked for a ride to the train station from my house and they charged him $30. i strongly think they took advantage of the fact that he couldn't speak english. i seriously hate this service so much and like everyone else stated, only use it out of complete desperation. you're better off walking tho read more
