I had a dress that was too big but I loved and was looking to get it tailored. I didn't want to risk it with the local dry cleaners tbh so decided to come here for that dress and another dress that needed hemming. First, the customer service was AMAZING. They were extremely flexible about when I needed to come in. And I basically just walked in later that day but I could've just walked in. But reservations are recommended! Second, Ferhan the tailor was meticulous with the hems and all the details. He asked what I wanted and was very patient (even as I changed the length of the hem a few times...) and also offered very helpful insights. Then when I came to pick up the dress, he made sure I was happy with it and that it fit perfectly. His sister even made some beautiful matching brooches out of the extra fabric for me to take home. Third, the price was completely more reasonable than I expected and a steal when you compared to the quality of work! I lost a button from a suit jacket and took it in to get it fixed. I told the tailor I understood he might need to replace the front buttons, but that anything close to the grey/black buttons already there would make me happy and I didn't think the cuff buttons needed to be replaced. He said replacing all the buttons would probably be about $30 and "no more than 40." When I returned, they had replaced all the buttons and the cuff buttons didn't match EACH OTHER, much less the front buttons. On top of that, the cost was close to $70. That's right. I was charged more than twice the price I was told for work that wouldn't pass muster for "Inspector Number 7" in a third world sweatshop. When I tried to point out these problems, the tailor became irate. In the end, I paid just to get out of there, but I hope you will even think twice before going in. read more

Never go here. I had a bridesmaids dress I needed taken in and they promised me one week. It's been almost a month and thee tailors will not pick up the phone, or return my voicemails. I have gone into the store twice to check, and they just keep telling me it's not ready. Today I finally got someone on the phone and they told me it was ready--when I made it there, i was told it wasn't ready. I asked to try it on, and it looked horrendous. completely uneven. I don't know what to do. They told me to come back tomorrow after I told them that I am leaving for the wedding I'm in tomorrow afternoon. Do not trust these people. read more

Ihsan is the best tailor in DC! It is hard to find a good men's tailor and my previous, Italian tailor retired so I asked around and did my research to find Linea Pitti. Ihsan is very honest-- he will tell you if the clothes are not worth tailoring (I bought a suit off the rack and he said it was not worth the work required to make it work so I returned it). He has tailored shirts, suits, sport coats, pants, and even a winter jacket. Ihsan also recognizes when even designer, off the rack clothes are poorly sewn and he is able to fix them so they are better than new! Not only do they do great work, but they are also friendly and able to turnaround alterations quickly. Prices are reasonable for the workmanship and quality of the work. I strongly recommend Ihsan and Linea Pitti if oyu need a tailor. read more

OH THANK GOD! After several awful experiences with "tailors" in the area, I finally found Linea Pitti. I knew it was a good sign when he started measuring the hell out of me and my suits. I knew it was a good sign when he started cursing the imbecile who had previously altered a pair of my pants. I knew it was a good sign when he rebuilt several suits and each fit like a glove. I am a customer for life. They're extremely expensive (for example, about $25 to simply cuff slacks, almost $100 to perform significant alterations on a jacket), but given the expensive and crappy work I've put up with for the nearly four years I've lived in DC, its worth it. I regularly have to get recuts on pants (off the rack, I need a larger jacket and the pants are always too big), and he handles this with aplomb, not to mention cleaning up other details like slack fabric between the shoulders. read more

I have been going to Linea Pitti for over five years now, and have always been happy with their work. Men's tailors are a dying breed these days, so it is refreshing to be able to go to tailors that know what they are doing. I own more suits and sports coats than I probably should, but almost nothing fits me off the rack since I have long arms and so the sleeves pretty much always have to be let out. They always do a good job with the sleeves (which is more complicated than a novice realizes), and also with taking in the suit for a more modern fit at times. I get compliments pretty frequently for my suits, and I know that behind every such compliment is my tailor who made sure the suit fit me as it was meant to. I've also been pleased with their service -- Ihsan is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and on a few occasions when I ask him to turn around something quickly he makes it happen. Prices are also very reasonable for a quality tailor -- you're obviously paying more than at the dry cleaners, but you're coming here for quality work and not the basics. One other thing -- many tailors tend to be pretty old school and I have ben to some in the past who sort of fight you when you ask for more modern touches like slimmer fits, less break on pants, etc. Ihsan and co. and Linea Pitti are classic men's tailors, but they get more modern styles and have developed an excellent understanding of how I like my clothes. I came here because of the (2) good reviews on Yelp, and because it's located close to me. I left completely frustrated. I rented a tux here earlier this year, which mostly went without incident. (The proprietor did write down the wrong date for my rental, but luckily when I showed up they still had the tux waiting for me.) I came back a few months later with two off-the-rack business suits to get hemmed and altered a bit. The price they quoted me was high ($120 each), but they seemed to know what they were talking about. I picked up my suits a week later and instantly noticed that the vertical seam down the back of each jacket was puffy -- it did not lie flat. I'm a novice to tailoring so I assumed this was normal and would flatten out as I wear it, but it didn't. I took the suits to the dry cleaner, thinking maybe they could iron out the puffy stitching, but they couldn't. I finally showed it to my mom, who knows a lot about sewing but it is not a tailor. She confirmed that the stitching as bad, and not only that, but they had opened up the lining of the jacked to restitch that vertical seam, and they had not done a good job of closing the lining back up. With three weeks having passed, I took both jackets back to the shop and showed the proprietor what the problem was. He asked if I had them dry cleaned, and I admitted that I did. He took me over to the iron and started ironing the seams, as if to prove that the drycleaners were at fault, but after 30 seconds of ironing, the stitching was still clearly puffy. (Of course, I've taken other suits to the same dry cleaners, and the stitching on those jackets was perfect both before and after. But I humored him while he put on this demonstration.) He agreed to take the jackets back and fix the work. I thought that would be the end of it. A few days later, he called me at work and told me that he did not recognize the stitching on the seam, and accused me of having the suits altered somewhere else, then bringing to him to fix it for free. This is, of course, ridiculous, and I told him the same. He refused to acknowledge that work could have been done in his shop, and told me that although my memory must be wrong, he would be happy to fix it anyway. I picked up my suits today, and the stitching is a little better but still noticeably puffy. At least they closed up the lining properly. Anyway, I'm now looking for another tailor to fix this mess. read more

I brought in a pretty elaborate job on a winter jacket that needed some alterations. The quality of the work is quite good, and the work was done on time. I was also treated fairly. That being said, you can expect to pay a pretty penny here. If you want the highest quality work, and don't mind paying for it, it's a good choice. If you're looking for better value, you're probably better looking elsewhere. Still, I'm overall quite happy with the experience. read more

I had a work event that needed a tuxedo, so I came here to rent one. They had a few other customers, but got to me pretty quickly, took my measurements, and sent me along my way. The gentlemen running the shop could communicate a little better - you've got to ask questions to get needed info - but I was pleased. Then, a few weeks later I had to resign from my job on exceptionally short notice. I wasn't going to the event in five days. I didn't need a tuxedo, and I was suddenly income-less. I called, and much to my surprise, they said that they had already done the tailoring, but they would refund me the difference between the cost to tailor a tux and to rent one. These guys did me a solid. I'll be calling them the next time I need a tux. Thanks! read more

I require a lot of alterations to my clothes, and I'm so glad I finally found Linea Pitti. (Bonus: It's across the street from my drycleaner, Georgetown Valet.) I got a new winter coat that needed some alterations to the sleeves/shoulders because I'm so petite. I tried to take the coat to LP before Thanksgiving, but the owner (?) was not in and the man there did not speak English, but indicated I should come back after the holiday. I went back, because I had heard LP was the best and I did not want to take any chances with my new, expensive coat. The main tailor who helped me knew EXACTLY what he was doing and how to alter my coat, and I felt very comfortable leaving it. When I got my coat back, it was absolutely perfect. I only give four stars because there are a few MINOR downsides. As mentioned, the first time I tried to drop off my coat, no one could help me, but it was not a big deal. I didn't get a ticket when I finally dropped off my coat -- he said he would remember (and luckily, he did). It's a little expensive--about $58 for sleeve alterations--and it took almost 2 weeks, but again, it was totally worth it to have the coat done right. Overall, I will definitely take all of my alterations to Linea Pitti from now on! read more

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Worst alterations ever. Ruined my clothes and then had the nerve to be rude about it! and this after calling the seamstresses at Bloomingdale's names and saying they don't know how to sew. I had two blazers to be altered and they did them from the bottom rather than from the top (the proper way to alter sleeves with functional button holes) and besides this, the work that was done, was horrible! I can't wear the jackets now. I can sew better and so can the lady at the dry cleaners across the street. I was going to leave a $600 Burberry jacket to be altered, but changed my mind-thank God! Their prices are ridiculous and not standard -charging each person what they think they can get away with and they seem to have a problem with women. DO NOT use this tailor under any circumstances if you want to be able to wear the clothes. read more

I have used this place for a couple years. The first time I went was for a suit that was way too big and wanted to salvage. They did a good job. It was not merely tailoring but the style and perspective of the tailor that made it work so well. I have had some good patches done on jeans, etc. as well. The downsides are that they are slow. The guy seems to always ask for three weeks to do anything and they are expensive. Having a suit and pants taken in cost nearly the same as a couple patches on a pair of jeans. read more

I have had many horrible experiences with many tailors in several big cities and these guys are truly craftsmen from a different age - they are truly passionate about tailoring. I have usually always gone to the local dry cleaner to get my alterations and while they always get the job done, it's never high quality. I have taken all types of expensive pieces of clothing (from jeans to suits) and each one has come out incredibly. I never knew clothes could fit so perfectly, yet look like they were straight from the store. They provide a level of quality that you'll never get at a local dry cleaner. read more

I went to Linea Pitti recently to rent a tuxedo and I was quite impressed with their service. Without any hesitation, their staff was on the ball to get the right tuxedo and parts that I needed. I felt that they really knew what their were doing and professionals. Their price is fair and better than some other locations I bent to. The tuxedos quality is really nice. My tuxedo jacked needed some alterations, but by next morning it was ready. The only thing about the place that I found distracting was an old stuffy smell to the store. I wasn't sure if it was chemicals that they use for their work, possibly starch spray for pressing clothing, but I think that will improve experience of the place if handled. Overall, it was a great place to rent a tuxedo and I didn't have to wait. read more

Unfortunately I would say to avoid Linea Pitti at all costs. I had to get a tux tailored and while the tailoring was fine, they charged be $544.62 in error for someone else's things. They refunded the charge, however, a week later it was still on my account. When I called in to Linea Pitti to inquire, the man who answered said he didn't speak English and hung up on me. I've called back sense to no avail. I ended up having to dispute the charge which was a major headache. NEVER will I use Linea Pitti again and hope you'd do the same. read more

They ruined my dress. They removed the bodice from a dress that I took there to be shortened and put the bodice back on the dress 90 degrees off from the skirt. To make matters worse, they cut into the side of the dress to attach a zipper creating a new seam. After all of this, they refused to fix their mistake free of charge. read more

I took a suit in that was too large for me. My measurements were taken and I was told that I would receive a call to come back and do more measurements because the suit was so large. I never received that call or any call that my alterations were complete. After a few weeks I went in and they gave me my "finished" suit. It was still far too large. I took it back a couple of days later and he had the audacity to assume I had lost over two inches off of my waist in the few weeks since my initial measurements. If I had lost weight it was 3-4 pounds at most. After arguing back and forth he finally agreed to complete the job, but was incredibly rude in the process. He even asked for my receipt from the first visit before he gave my suit back, which luckily I had. This was my first time using a tailor in DC, and I hope they are not always this way. If I'm spending over $650 on alterations, I am expecting a near perfect job. read more

I have been a client of Linea Pitti for 10 years now, and to echo the sediments of other clients I honestly dont know what I would do without these guys. I am incredibly discerning regarding the fit of my clothing and Ishan probably has altered 50% of the garments in my wardrobe! From suits to shorts, from the simple hem to much more complicated alterations I have always been thrilled with the results. Subsequently people are constantly asking me who is tailoring by clothing, and now many of my more stylish friends have been clients of the shop as well. They are a great group of talented guys. If you are looking for a proper tailor either for custom bespoke suits or to make your off the rack suits look like Saville row then Definitely check them out. ..I have read a couple negative reviews on here about Linea Pitti and I feel they must be written by mistake. I Have never had anything but positive experiences here and all of my friends and colleagues I have referred have been thrilled with their work. If you are looking for a "real" tailor I would highly recommend them. If you are however looking to have a pair of pants hemmed and want to pay 10 bucks just take them to your drycleaner.... although I would never have the drycleaner alter any of my garments because i care about quality and willing to maybe pay a little more for it. read more
