That all changed with my latest trip to the new DPS MEGA drivers license center! Not only was I able to hold my place in from a computer (just a few clicks and I was virtually waiting), but after I registered I immediately got a text saying my wait time was only about 5 minutes...not even enough time to drive to the physical location! With a simple text reply I was able to put myself back in queue via my phone. Once at the office, the process was smooth from beginning to end. A greeter showed me how to watch/listen for my number being called (last 4 of my cell number) and he also was helpful in finding the correct station once it was my turn. That may sound silly, but there are at least 50 manned stations working at once so I actually needed help finding #9. The representative was pleasant, worked quickly, and had me out of there in no-time. Weird to say, but this was actually an enjoyable experience! The one downfall is that you can't hold your place in line using their website on a smart phone - I had to initially register from my computer at home. After that, all is done through text until you get to the center. WAY TO GO STATE OF TEXAS & DPS!

But Ive had a weird experience at the one in the south side. Long story short I bought a place here in town last year. So as I started to register my vehicle from out of state, I began my journey to get all my cars registered in Texas. So I had an irritating experience at the south side one. The lady at counter told me one thing then when I came back a few months later everything sh3 told was wrong and I wasted months getting everything together. When I returned to a different person told myball that I brought was not needed.. So in short if you have business to get done DONT go to the south side one.

I asked FIVE DIFFERENT TIMES if there was anywhere for my kids to sit bc they were with me-remember they sent my husband back to work 30 minutes prior bc "everything is fine, we're just getting the plates ready". No. Then she starts lying to my face and saying she never told me no when she just did 5 times. She cost the dealer a sale because she was being aggressive, argumentative, and pushy. I DESPISE being rushed through a process to hide someone else's incompetencies and that is 100% what was being done all around. I would absolutely never recommend this location for any title and registration needs at any point in the future. Just go to the county. You'll still wait, and you'll probably still have bored salty employees but at least you'll leave with your paperwork and title and plates.

I can't tell you how many times I look out at my apartment complex and people always leave there bulk trash for their maintenance crew to clean up. That is inconsiderate and disrespectful. I'm a guy that cares about my neighborhood and it's appearance. I also care about disposing of trash and junk the proper way. Respect the environment. The staff that is running this place is very professional and courteous. You do need to be from the area, and you have to show proof that you are a local resident.
