I used to work walking distance from Lin's so it was a good choice for a lunch spot. Now I work 19 miles from there but willing drive there often to get their WONDERFUL food. My all-time favorite Chinese dish is Shrimp with Lobster sauce and I was disappointed when, at first visit, to not see this on the menu. I mentioned it's lacking and Voila! it was made for me! Further, it was the very best S w/ LS that I had ever eaten! This place is a gem among rocks. It is small but can accommodate upwards of 20 people. Most folks seem to take out but we eat in. Place your order at the counter, have a seat, and in a short time the food is served at your table with a smile and friendly talk. We've tried Lin's a few times the past year and found the food mediocre. Tonight however we were really disappointed. I ordered War Su Gai, the chicken was over cooked, the breading soft and spongy, and the sauce was flavorless and bland. I paid extra for friend rice, but what I got was white rice with veggies. My husband had Kung Pow Chicken. His had no heat or peanuts. He opened up the chillies and still had no flavor in his dish. read more

I've had great and very very bad Americanized Chinese food so I can tell the difference and this place is much better than it appears from the outside. It resides in the middle of a mostly empty strip mall and the decor inside is pretty much non-existent but the food is great. On the menu is all the standard dishes that you see in any other Chinese restaurant but they're all very flavorful with tons of fresh veggies and quality meats. I usually steer away from Chinese. It just tastes too salty, unnaturally seasoned and gives you the feeling of being too full. This place however was our families choice based on the good reviews. I'm glad we tried it and we will be back. The fried rice is actually not seasoned with soy sauce. It is sticky and full of fresh egg. I got the rainbow shrimp which was in a light white sauce. Nothing fried...the veggies were so crisp and fresh. The king po chicken was not too spicy. We all got the lunch portions for dinner and it is plenty for an average adult! The spring roll was crispy and flavorful. The wonton is made with a rich chicken stock not a watery broth. Nice thick wontons. The fortune cookies, both regular and chocolate are stale. So that was a bummer. Service is very friendly and attentive. The ambiance is blank and stark. So carry out would be a nice option but we didn't mind much. read more

I had pulled up Yelp to try and find a good Chinese place in Powell and after reading the reviews, I was super excited to try Lin's Wok. Most of the time when you pick up food to take home, the smell fills your car and your mouth starts to water. The only thing I smelled on the way home was grease. I got home and the fried rice was dry and the orange chicken was greasy and lacking flavor. I've had better food in microwave meals. It was such a disappointment and I'll never eat here again. read more

There are times in life when you come across a meal so expertly crafted... Frankly, this is quite the opposite of one of those meals. Walking in, I was unmoved by the humble seating area and front counter. The lady that helped me was very pleasant and patient as I perused the menu. I'd never been here before, so I defaulted to sweet & sour chicken with steamed rice. Unfortunately everything was just...off. The rice was perfectly sticky, but had a different quality to it than I expected, as if it had been microwaved, for example, although I'm sure that wasn't the case here. I just can't put my finger on it. The sweet and sour sauce had a great taste and it wasn't too thick or thin. The chicken, however, was especially greasy. As for the texture, it almost felt processed, but that could just be the quality of the meat. Lastly, I received both regular and a chocolate fortune cookie. Both were stale. I wish I could give this local business a better rating, but the food was overall not palatable. I could not finish my meal. Despite the friendly service, I shall not be returning here anytime soon. read more

I've lived in Powell for 14 years and always lamented on the lack of great convenient Chinese food. How did I not know about Lin's Wok? It is truly a gem hidden in a small little strip mall north of downtown Powell. Why has this place been such a well kept secret? The food is simply AMAZING! Everything is fresh and perfectly prepared. Vegetables are crisp full of flavor; meat is always tender. Portions are generous and I love having the ability to order lunch portions at dinner! Been going there for years !! Great at lunch and dinner. The are a main stay in Powell and have been there like 20 years. Get steamed chicken and vegetables most of the time and their other chicken meals are great. I try to take my friends there when they want some place new to eat. We have been patronizing them since the 1990s and they are hands down the best Chinese in Columbus, all individualized prepared, family friendly and family run. Only con is time frame for waiting is often longer than what is given over the phone (e.g. 15-20 min usually is more like 30-35 min). Other than they they are fantastic & highly recommended. read more

The best kept secret in town...county...and state!

I almost feel bad posting this review because the owners seemed nice enough, but this is hands-down the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten, and I love Chinese food. Other reviewers must have had a different experience, but it took nearly 40 minutes for a single lunch serving to come to the table. They only served one other table and one takeout order during this time. The soup took 30 minutes to arrive, but tasted like it was made at least a day ahead. The chicken was so tough, it was literally inedible, and I had to toss half of it away. I was given tap water, but noticed a sign that said they charge $1 for this if you don't spend at least $6 on your meal. Really? There were no refills. I honestly can't see what people like about this place: salty, and at times, inedible food; no ambience; and potentially $1 for tap water. If you value a friendly exchange with the staff, then I suppose this place could fit your bill, but if you're looking for a decent meal - go elsewhere. read more
